Well, if you haven't, you can correct that deficiency at McClellan Palomar Airport. It's just a few miles from downtown Carlsbad and offers a fantastic alternative to busy San Diego International Airport, if you're headed out this way. It's newly remodeled and services a mix of private jets, charters, and a handful of commercial flights. United Airlines flies to/from San Francisco and Denver and American Airlines flies to/from Phoenix. I dropped off my son and daughter-in-law yesterday for their flight home to San Francisco, and the experience of driving into the airport and terminal was a lot easier than what I've run into at a few shopping malls. We have quite a few relatives around Carlsbad and the North Country, and I can't wait to fly into this friendly low-stress airport on our next visit.

We get checked in in Ontario airport, we got tickets for the next flight from Dallas with a 40 minute window to go to a gate. Take the train barely made it to the gate to hear the flight was moved to a different gate. Take the train again and when we arrived we miss the flight. We left at 2:30 am to cache an early flight so we would not miss the Aftenoon. They put us to an other flight 3 hours later. We wait at the gate , when they tell us it was moved to another gate . We arrived in Savannah at 8 pm. Returning. Our flight was supposed to to be at 5:45 pm by 8:30 they tell us the flight was postponed to the next morning at 8 am. They gave us three hotel choices to stay at by then it's 11:30 pm. One, the shuttle was not running until 4 am and one had breakfast so we chose that. We arrived at the 'hotel' after midnight. We got to the lobby and it felt like one of the horror movies. The front desk person was on the phone hard to understand as he was yelling he signal to go to a computerize window The lobby smelled. No one tells us where to go. We finally found outside an elevator. Paint chipping, dirty concrete floor . We get to the room as lock and put a chair under the door knob. Scary place. Bugs in the bathroom and when we got up my daughter had bites all over her legs. By the way no breakfast was offered. We go get our flight. Never again I will fly with American airline!!!

Priority is on the left. Agents were friendly and efficient, even printed out boarding passes without asking. Tip: this airport requires printed boarding pass. Mobile passes won't work. Plan extra time for security. Only 1 lane so No TSA PreCheck so laptops and any electronic bigger than a cellphone had to come out of your bag.

However, since I'm here on my day pass, I don't have use of the kitchen and I don't feel like showing up with a bunch of stuff to barbecue. Anyway, there is plenty of seating at the adult pool, offering tables, chairs, and loungers. In the north west corner of the pool area is a semi private space with a table, an umbrella, and some loungers. It's a nice place to gather with friends. The pool here is always very clean. The temperature is good in the pool and in the Jacuzzi. I feel fortunate to be a part of this timeshare. The timeshare was purchased by Hilton so I think anybody can stay here if rooms are available.

We struck gold coming across Laila and could not have asked for more. Our trip included a wide range of activities to include diving, zip-lining and a luau. Accommodations were carefully chosen to give our family the most comfortable stay we could have. Fast forward to the Fall of '22 and we were in planning for a 2 week European Vacation over Spring Break '23. Laila was extremely attentive and energetic throughout our planning and had so many great ideas that we had no doubt we would get the best experience possible. Honest discussions helped us to hone in on what tours and attractions would best suit our family and I think we nailed it. Her estimates were spot on and we were not caught off guard by any cost adjustments or fees. When the time to leave for our trip came close, we ran into some snags that started to wear down on us. Strikes and protests in areas we were set to travel began to cast doubt that our trip would be a success and then I was alerted by our airlines that our outgoing flight was canceled. Just days before departure! I immediately reached out to Laila and she responded rapidly at an hour I wouldn't expect anyone to be up reading emails. She was able to find out what caused our cancellation, confirm an alternate departure flight and prevent us from losing a few days on the trip we thought wouldn't be possible. During our trip, her service only grew better. She kept communications with us and was kind enough to make sure we arrived at our destinations on time. We were even welcomed by a lovely gift from Laila in our room that was honestly a highlight of our trip as it reaffirmed us that we had been well taken care of and our enjoyment was firsthand. We are a family of 4 in our mid 30's and I understand that not many people my age reach out to travel agents. I do not think I could have confidently created a trip this enjoyable and stress-free on my own while tending to my normal day-to-day. The rooms have a decent little kitchen setup, complete with cutlery, plates, and a full-sized fridge. Amenities are very acceptable, with a clean pool, and surprisingly generous free breakfast every morning. Standard issue kind of hotel buffet, mind you, with rubbery eggs and concerning grey breakfast meats, but also highly serviceable bagels, breads, cereals, oatmeal, and more. The swarms of kids seemed to hooked on the DIY waffle and pancake stations, so maybe there's something to that. Plus, free parking, and plenty of it which means you'll never have to fight for a space, even if you get in late. The bed was comfy, but I can't say I slept very well. Guest were pretty loud and rowdy until at least midnight every night; thin walls don't do much to dampen the sound. There was also a smear of dog shit trailing around the building for the duration of my stay, so be sure to watch your step out there. Setting expectations accordingly, it's a perfectly fine place to crash.

TOILET SPLASHBACK: When you flush the toilet, the water splashes back up out of the toilet and can hit any part of your body, depending on the position you're in when you're flushing. It can hit your behind, your legs, or your feet. Disgusting. 5. INADEQUATE BREAKFAST SERVICE: The server was aware that there were no plates available for guests at breakfast, yet she simply did not put any plates out for approximately 30 minutes, until one of the customers had to yell to the back for someone to bring out plates. The food was also slow to come out. It felt as though they did not want guests to eat.
