--Everything was on time, easy boarding, easy exit, no frills and no fuss!--…read more This is my third flight on Spirit. I previously flew Southwest, but their prices have been getting more ridiculous so I finally tried out Spirit, in 2025. I am now a fan! I have flown one other budget airline (in Europe) before, which left a super bad taste in my mouth, so I was hesitant to fly another budget airline. Flying from socal to norcal (flight time: 1 hour 6 minutes) for $30, I wasn't really expecting much, just that it got me there on time in one piece. I expected them to nickle and dime me and measure my luggage, but none of that happened! The personal item size allowance in America (18x14x8) is way more generous than in Europe. My giant tote bag easily fit in the designated box. I didn't see them try to give anyone a hard time about luggage size at all. What surprised me the most was the flight itself. Planing and deplaning was easier because most people didn't have carry-ons. There were also no snacks (unless you bought some from them), so there was hardly any trash and the seats were way cleaner. Sure the seats don't recline and aren't as cushiony, but it's totally negligible for my short flights. I'm short so the legroom was plenty for me. Not really sure how they make profit charging $30 a flight (during off peak hours), with $20 of it going to airport/government fees, but nonetheless I enjoyed 3/3 of my flights with Spirit!

The flight was booked, and unfortunately my daughter could not make the trip due to work reasons. So, I had to cancel which was done early on, abiding by American Airlines cancellation policy, but they issued a flight credit instead of a refund . I was on the phone with them going back and forth trying to make them be accountable for their own legal travel guidelines, and I was on the phone with various representatives who loved to tell me they can help and issue the refund, but they never did refund me! I could have complained to my bank, but they took out all the mental energy in my system that I just let it go! I was on the phone with them trying to get the refund about four different occasions (each representative) assuring me they could help, and some could not, that I gave up the fight to preserve my mental health. Why did they not follow their own travel (legal) guidelines)? They can get in trouble if they continue to not abide by their own legal travel guidelines. I was already taking time to prepare for this important trip and did not need added anxiety and stress on my plate. How many times does a customer need to be on the phone to get successful and satisfactory results? It should take one phone call to do that. Due to this inability to refund my money, and not abiding by their legal guidelines, even having their own customer service representatives on the phone telling you don't worry we will get you a refund, and it never happened. That is a real problem! The flight itself was smooth with no complications, but it needed to be effortless with my entire experience! In the future, I might fly Delta. Hopefully, American Airlines will take steps to improve in the areas that need attention to regain the trust of their travelers.

Never doing any business with American Airlines again!…read more I purchased tickets to Japan from AA, with the flight operated by Japan Airlines AA's email states: "If your flight is operated by a partner airline, see the other airline's website for carry-on and checked bag policies." Japan airline states "2 free checked bags" But they charged me extra fees for every checked bag I had, stating it was AA's decision. Both airlines had no idea what the policy was and they had to call each other to figure it out for 30 minutes. If I don't sign for the extra charges, my luggage doesn't go on the flight. The service being sold had very unclear terms and they have denied the dispute, stating I knew what I signed up for initially, and that I had signed for the charges at the airport. Total Catch-22 THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM 0/5 stars. Fool me once shame on me. But I won't let them fool me or anyone else twice. (Prior to purchasing, I even looked up what other customers had to say about baggage policies on codeshare flights, and they all say it follows the operating airline. Which AA is denying)

The staff on board the plane were friendly and helpful. However, my one major critique was that they only had one staff for general curbside check-in and luggage drop off. Despite using the kiosk to print out our tags ourselves, we still had to wait in a long line to have them weigh our luggage and check our IDs, easily remedied by having at least one more staff. The first class staff did call us over once she was through with her line but I really thought a second economy staff was needed, especially since half the passengers were waiting to check in until they reached the front of the line, old school style, so that the guy had to print out their tags for them and their boarding passes... Thank goodness for TSA precheck which made the security portion of the morning go super fast. So far only 25 percent of my flights leave on time. From Boston not as single delay at all. Luckily I never had a flight get cancelled. On my last trip a majority of the TVs were not working. They kept restarting. I also had the worst passengers sitting in front of me. They took up Two rows and they were out of control the entire trip. They could not control their kids. It was horrible and like a scene from Outbreak. They kept coughing all over the place, they would also stand up on the seats and cough in your face. . Wouldn't doubt if it was the flu or something. The kids kept jumping on the seat and screaming and crying. They could not control the kids. The entire family manned 1 bathroom for like 1/2 the trip. At one point the father apologized to me because the kept throwing and losing crayons and the would end up in my row behind them. Why not control your kids instead? The was a nightmare flight. I was going to ask for another seat but didn't want to make a big deal of it. At one point the father kept knocking on the bathroom door when somone else was in there. You took up the bathroom the entire trip, maybe others now need to use it. I could hear other passengers complain about them but not sure if they said anything. This was like Romper Room and Daddy Day Care all mixed in one. I feel bad for anyone else that has to get on a plane with them. Ok my rant is over. Just wish a flight attendant woulda told them to relax. And keep seated. lol. Can't really blame JeTblue for the passengers so I'm giving this trip a 3.75 lol.

My boyfriend walked up and asked if we could be moved closer to the front of the plane given the circumstances and she waved him away without even looking at our itinerary. Told him the gates were close together in Boston. The plane had several open seats closer to the front, so this would not have been a burden on her. The flight attendant on the plane was much more helpful, and the pilot made an announcement that a few folks had extremely tight connections so please remain seated unless you were one of them. Every single person in economy stayed seated, but I guess the announcement didn't reach the privileged, self-centered folks in first, as they ALL stood up and a woman told my boyfriend to move so she could grab her luggage. He said no, and I explained we had an extremely tight connection. A man in an Aloha Brewing shirt barked at me that everyone had tight connections. He started becoming very irritated and the woman in front of him told him that it was too early in the day to fight me. So that was fun. I hope dude felt really good about himself for going off on a girl. Anyway, he said he was going to New York so I checked the flights to New York. His connection was not tight. He was just rude. I recognize this is unrelated commentary but it's helpful context in the grand scheme of my experience. Our connecting plane was nowhere near the gate when we disembarked, so we had to run through the airport to another part of Terminal C in Boston. A JetBlue agent there asked where we were running to and said she'd call the plane to ask them to hold it for us. They did. JetBlue in Boston was stellar. All's well that ends well in the end, and the FA/pilot really did save the day, but I really wish the gate agent in San Diego had cared even an ounce to help us as a touch of customer service would've gone a long way. It could've been a different outcome if economy hadn't acknowledged the pilot's announcement.

I do appreciate the added flexibility that because they have more extended flight windows, I can make a trip a day trip as opposed to needing to stay overnight. There have been issues flying into SFO with all the runway construction that has been happening since the end of March, with flights being delayed and/or cancelled. Recently I had a flight from San Diego to San Francisco then to Paris, but my flight to SFO was delayed 2 hours causing me to miss my connecting flight leaving out of SFO to Paris. The agent helping me out was able to book me onto a flight from Lufthansa that would take me to Paris, several hours later but luckily on the same day. I was feeling under the weather and was looking for a mask and one of the agents tracked some down for me and found me again which was really sweet, compared to the Delta agents who didn't care at all. The only issues I had was that I was sat at the back of the plane for an international flight from Paris to San Francisco and for both meals they ran out of one of the options for meals. I wish they had the option to preselect which meal you want when you check-in for your flight so that they can calculate the number of dishes for each meal selection, rather than estimating it and for people to not be happy with their choice. The first meal was great with it being an English breakfast with eggs, hashbrown, sausage, and baked beans, with a side of fruit and a brownie. They ran out of the pancake option which was unfortunate. For the second meal it was smaller with the option of a pizza pocket (cheese or chicken) and only fruit. They ran out of the chicken option which was very disappointing and not filling. As someone who is quite small and does not require a lot of food to be full, I was not satisfied with this meal, I can't imagine someone who requires more food to be satisfied by that second meal either. I'd be starving. Also I was in boarding group 4 and they forced me to check in my luggage bc there was limited overhead space but when I got onto the plane, bc I was sitting in the very back (literally the last seats at the back of the place) there was still overhead space that would have fit my luggage. I understand needing to check-in baggage just in case of running out of storage, but next time I will try to get a seat closer to the front of the plane so that I can avoid the issues of being forced to check-in my luggage and to have the ability to choose which meal I want to eat. Aside from those complaints the seats were pretty standard, and the movie selection is good, they also provide the small pillows, a good quality blanket, and earbuds for the in-flight entertainment. You can also connect wirelessly to their system which is pretty cool too! ---- Overall: the customer service I've experienced has been very helpful and good so far, my complaints come from being forced to check-in luggage when there is still overhead space available and limited food options if your seat is placed towards the back of the plane
