Beware! poor service! charged for parts that was never installed on my vehicle and vehicle still having same issues! took vehicle to dealership and one sensor solved the problem! a/c was working when I took it there now it blows hot air! they were destroying my vehicle in order to get as much money as they can and not fix anything! Nothing but liars and unhonest shop! I wouldn't let them change a flat on my bicycle! don't believe the hype! Horrible people!! They take advantage of females! My car was towed to advance auto By AAA. Their mechanic diagnose the problem. The next day and repairs were made in a very timely manner. Repairs on my car are usually very expensive advance auto only repaired what was needed, and the cost was very reasonable. read more

Are you looking for an honest group of mechanics who won't claim you need repairs or parts that you don't need, won't claim they performed service that they didn't do, and won't make your car worse while "fixing" the problems you already have? These guys are your ticket out of car misery (or they may be the visit -after- you hear what all of the previous mechanics did to screw up your car). This place is run out of what looks like a big house, possibly an old farm house- and I took that to be a good sign. It's clearly the kind of place people hear about through word-of-mouth, and judging from the photos of sponsored little league teams and Westbury activities groups inside, these guys are longstanding and proud members of the community. They're also incredibly friendly. They have a parrot inside who talks- says hello every time someone enters, and goodbye when they leave, and babbles to itself a bunch, occasionally even meowing like a cat! I heard the story of how the owners came by this pet, when a customer who couldn't afford car repairs begged to pay them with a baby bird. One of the owners had to feed the bird with food warmed on the stove while it was still very young, and when the parrot was done eating it'd fill its mouth with food, then shake its head vigorously, spraying it everywhere. But I digress. They alerted me that parking on the streets in Chicago for two winters meant the underside of my car is basically a pile of rust - all the salt Chicago uses to melt snow turns cars to rust quickly. And the Ford dealership in Chicago who claimed to repair the rusted air filter box on my little car apparently didn't do it, but charged me for the privilege anyway, so my air filter has been overdue for a change for 6 months. Greeeeeat. I'll be editing THAT Yelp review. They did take a long while on my 4-tire alignment, replacement blinker, the aforementioned air filter box repair and something that was broken called an "engine static ground strip", but it was worth it to get the job done right. Plus, although their waiting area isn't as glamorous as many dealerships are these days, they had free wireless 'net access, a heap of magazines, and a television (showing Animal Planet today). They've got a lovely relic of a soda machine with 50¢ cans of soda in it, and 25¢ candy machines. My total charge for the repairs was just over $200, which I felt was reasonable. I feel like I can trust these guys, and seriously- that's worth a LOT in the world of car repairs. I am easily taken advantage of when it comes to these things. I have been taking my cars to Adanced Auto Tech and Tony Z for 20+ years. A friend recommended them to me when I had a Peugeot and needed a repair shop - this friend had a Peugeot and said they knew how to take care of it. I've had several cars since then and keep going back (actually drive from Galveston to get up there). It is so nice to go to an honest car shop to get things done. I take my car in at least once a year and tell Tony to look it over and let me know what needs repaired (good car maintenance). Last year he only replaced a filter (the dealership where I had an oil change prior to this visit said they found $600 worth of work that needed to be done and Tony reviewed everything and only replaced a filter). Purchased a 2013 Ford Taurus off Ebay from Advanced Motor Group. List as being a rebuilt car. Said damage was to the left front side. I have no problems with this. The problem is the state of Illinois is requiring me to obtain a Natural Disaster Disclosure Statement stating that the car was not involved in a flood. If I do not receive this form the car will be titled as flood car. Ali and the rest of the employees refuse to answer my calls. This leads me to believe they are selling cars involved in floods without disclosing this information. BEWARE read more

I first began getting my 1990 Saab convertible serviced at Advanced Auto Tech back in 1993. Toni and his crew were able to keep it running well for the next 11 years. I traded up to a newer 2002 Saab and still have it serviced there. I have never felt pressured into having repairs that didn't make sense to me. The work has always been done well. It has sometimes taken a little longer than first estimated (they have to go out for parts) but they do provide a pickup and dropoff service to home or work, if needed. Since they are a smaller shop, they remember you and your car, and are able to be a bit more personable. I have never had a bad experience in 17 years of using them. read more

This place is to be strongly avoided unless you have a death wish and want to become infected with the Plague. Times have changed and this place also. They are AAA Approved and claim to guarantee their service for 24 months. DO not believe them. Unfortunately My friend who I recommended this place was honest. No way. They cheated her by saying her car needed a head rehab and reground. They performed the service but When car was driven for a seek the original problem of not starting returned. Cat was then towed back where it stayed for a week. Tony then said car fixed. Returned to pick car up. Car then driven for week and stopped running this went on for months. Head bolts were not torque and were loose on head. AAA Texas called and were told of problems. Representative assigned who actually went beyond patience and helped, but Tony still after a year of constant suffering and expenses this is what happened. Letter written to CEO so-called Michael McKernan for a resolution to problem. As of this date July17, 2015 no response yet from AAA. Representative has since left from justified disgust with Tony of Advance Auto Tech, Alum Road, Houston, Texas and with AAA California and AAA Texas. This is what has been done to a woman single with two pre-teen children who put her self through University of Houston with a Teaching Bachelors, honor roll etc who put up with this type of hell service. The cost at least $2000.00 plus the frustration, pain, suffering and unimaginable stress. What was not done? Tony and Advanced Auto Tech with AAA approved repair, ASE certified who claim they use Diagnostic Testing to repair autos etc. are totally useless. AAA guarantees useless. The way they treat women here I certainly do not recommend, instead I shout avoid this place like the PLAGUE. read more
