This is a 25 year old wall to wall carpet on an ocean front condo that gets a lot of diesel, I guess from the boats? But the rugs were very dirty and stained. I made an appointment with Advanced Carpet based upon a referral from a neighbor. They came pretty much on time and called ahead. James reviewed which carpets had to be cleaned. I was concerned because I have an elderly cat who had a couple of accidents- urine. I did my best to spot treat myself but it wasn't good enough. James came in and assessed each carpet and how to specifically treat them. One was wall to wall and the other was an area rug. He moved whatever furniture he could and washed the rugs. He even gave me a lesson as to how to treat them in the future. The end result was very clean carpets. They did take several hours to dry but I was very satisfied. read more

Unfortunately ACU did a pretty sloppy job in our house. We needed to clean carper in 3 room of our house. In total it was around 800sf of the carpet. We communicated with James and he arrived next day and worked for approximately for 2 hours. By the end of the job he informed us that carpet is old and some spots can not be cleaned completely. So end result did not look great. Next day we rented carpet cleaning tools and worked on the areas that still looked dirty. Magically after few iterations carpet became clean. They were very transparent and honest about certain stains on my chairs and sofas that would probably not come out so I had a realistic expectation. Beware! We had a very bad experience with these guys. We chose them based on the positive reviews, but now question the veracity of them. We had a brand new $4953 living room rug that had a stain in the corner. We hired a professional, also based on reviews, and they treated it but actually made it worse. So we called Advanced. James said that in "99% of the cases, we can get it out". I had them come to look at it and based on that they said they could get it out. (At worst, we thought they'd fail but there was a 99% chance of success...pretty good odds we thought.). So we invested over $900 in this gamble based on what they told us. The key is: they never said that there was a risk that they would make it worse. (we would never have accepted that gamble had they told us the truth). And make it worse they did. Much worse. They ruined the rug. They shrunk it 6 inches. They stretched it out of shape. And they actually spread the stain throughout the rug. We were horrified. We asked them for a refund. They refused. They said 'we're a small family owned company...etc" as though being small and family owned relieved them of responsibility for their actions. On their website, they assure customers of a "100% satisfaction guarantee". I tried to pursue getting restitution from James, but he stopped responding to my texts and calls. I then told him he left us little choice but to turn to the courts for restitution. I dread this. This is one of the worst experiences we've ever had with a merchant. Please look at the before and after pictures and judge for yourselves. I would stay far away from Advanced because of their unprofessionalism and untrustworthiness. I guess the bottom line is, you better hope all goes well, because if you have any issue with them, look out. They won't help you in any way. Beware! read more

So Stanley Steamer was going to charge me $1500 to clean an 9 x 12 a very expensive viscose rug. I called a Stanley Steamer in a different location where they had a completely different price (one location was a corporate store and one was a franchisee)...so much for pricing standardization for your brand. At any rate, I found Advanced Carpet Upholstery on the Internet and read some reviews in the hopes that some of them were authentic. I took a chance and tried them. Our viscose rug had many stains from our cat and dogs vomiting on the rug. Advanced Carpet charged me $650, took the carpet away. When they brought it back, it looked like a new rug, full stop. I was shocked and had not expected them to get these stains out, some of which were over a year old. Net/net, they did an amazing job, great customer services and a personable crew. 5 out of 5 on customer experience. We will use them for our couches next. Advance carpet and upholstery came the same day my dog had an accident on my mother-in-law's carpet! Her carpet needed cleaning but that didn't help. They were so kind came when they said they were come , charged an average reasonable price and they did a fabulous job! They have a truck mounted unit that worked well on the carpet.
