My husband went in for irritation and bumps under his eye. They tested and said it was 99% acne. I did not agree and made him an appt at an eye doctor for a second opinion. The test came back as shingles. If we did not go to the eye doctor after a false test result he could have gone blind in his right eye without proper treatment. Very disappointed. read more

The doctors are caring with reliable advice and diagnosis. But the patient billing process borders on dishonesty. I paid my $20 co-pay with a personal check. Their billing department manipulated the payment to reflect a debit card payment so I wouldn't get my canceled check back and doubled the check amount to $40. When I discovered the double charge on my bank statement they denied the double charge until I provided my bank statement. Then they said they would send me a check for the $20 overcharge after 10 days. Now two weeks later they acknowledge the $20 overcharge but are refusing to give me back the $20. I wonder how many patients don't check their bank statements. How many times a month do they overcharge and steal from their patients. Part of having a good healthcare provider is not having to deal with billing fraud. The doctors are good but there are a lot of other great doctors available that won't steal from you. read more

I have a positive skin cancer that needs surgery, yet I can't seem to connect with them to get it scheduled. I can never reach a real person when I call because it makes me go through the "maze" of menus then I have to leave a message. If someone calls me back and I am unable to pick up in time (for whatever reason) I then have to go back to their maze of phone menus only to have to leave another message. Their patient portal message service is very poor too. I have left messages there and am still waiting (3rd) day for an answer for this surgery. I am very disappointed; they used to be exceptional at communicating! What happened? read more

I waited MONTHS to get an appointment with the PA I like (Elizabeth). Arrived at the Punta Gorda office only to be told there was NO RECORD of my appointment! The receptionist offered to make a new appointment for me GOD only knows how far in the future that would have been! It meant nothing that I had waited so long for my current appointment. I didn't handle the situation with my normal calm demeanor and admittedly the packed waiting room could hear my frustration. It was only after it was clear to the staff I was not about to go gently into that good night (day) that it was decided they would ask the PA if she could fit me into her day. Being a kind individual she did fit me in... it was the only positive thing I have to say about my encounter. They need to fix their broken scheduling system..... read more

I was very disappointed in my visit. The ARNP took all of 5 minutes with me. This was my annual check since I have had skin cancer before. She never had me undress to do a head to toe check!. She just asked me if I had any areas of concern...I would think she would want to check me herself and tell me if SHE saw any areas of concern! She never said to be sure and schedule my annual visit, she did not ask me if I had any questions...nothing. She just froze the spots I asked her to and she was out the door. Dr. Garr is exceptional! I was referred to her by friends and she exceeded all expections! Her assistant, Dee Dee, is extremely professional and friendly as well. I do have to say the front desk staff (3 were present went I arrived for my appt.) were too busy to even look up and acnowledge my presence for an uncomfortable amount of time. Just stood there and not one of them acknowledged I as there. I don't expect people to drop everything when theyre busy on the phone or even working at the computer, but a simple, glance in my direction, with a "Hi, someone will be with you shortly", is all that is needed to show acknowledgeent and appreciation for my doing business with them, and I don't believe is too much to ask. read more

I would give a -1 if It was available. VERY RUDE STAFF!! I have been going here for years, but no more. I went for an annual skin screening. The reception area personnel - especially the one taking payments - are extremely RUDE. I signed in - no one said good morning, kiss my #@#@ - nothing. I sat down for a few minutes and the employee taking payments started SCREAMING names into the waiting area. They finally screamed again about the last person to sign in - which was me. I walked up to the desk and said that I thought I was the last person - and was asked in a VERY rude tone - "what is YOUR name?" no "I'm sorry, we couldn't read your name" - nothing polite about her tone at all! I had listened to several conversations between the reception area and patients during my wait, and I became upset at the way they were speaking to people - many of whom are elderly. It was awful. I did not stay for my appointment. I decided to seek another Dermatologist that might have a more welcoming staff. read more

Dr Gaar is great. This review is not about her. She was referred to me by friends in the area. I got an appointment at the Punta Gorda office fairly easily. Arrived 20 min before my appointment as I knew there would be paperwork. Front desk said she was running behind. They managed my expectations and I read while I waited. Saw Dr Gaar - all good. Problem arose as I went to my car to go home. There was a car blocking me so I could not leave... I thought this was strange so I went back into the clinic and talk to the front desk. The one gal said "yes, that is Dr Spencer's car. He is in surgery and will be done at 4:00. It was 1:30. I tried to talk with them - Dr Spencer was on site, so his keys were there. Response I received was there is nothing they could do. The owner/main Dr of this clinic was blocking a patient of his clinic! It was just bizarre. So I called the POLICE. Officer came to the clinic - a bit annoyed to have to assist with such a ridiculous use of his time. About 20 minutes later Dr Spencer came out, smiled and jumped in his car. I can't believe how rude that is. To say the least, I drove away with a pretty negative opinion about Dr Spencer. read more

My wife recently had a procedure at this place. After she experienced pain, swelling, and signs of infection, she tried to have an appointment right away, but was told she couldn't come in until three days later. Three days she didn't know if she should go to another doctor or the emergency room. Once she had the appointment to check on the effected area, she was treated, given brief information and told when her next appointment was. When she went to check out, she was treated in a rude manner by the receptionist; this employee disputed the time and date for the next appointment she was given by the care givers and the doctor, then said she would try to find another time much later this year. She asked if my wife wanted to see a nurse assistant instead of the doctor - and this is for a surgery mind you - then became upset with her when my wife didn't know how to respond. As our first experience with this group, we found their "system" inefficient and the receptionist unprofessional. Since we've had all of her work at this place, and paid two co-pays at $50 each, we are trying to decide if we should find another practice with a better process and better trained employees. read more
