The only reasoning I chose this dermatology center as opposed to others is that Advanced Dermatology was not only the closest office to me, but was the first to respond to my appointment request. I was solely seeing a derm to go through a second round of accutane, so I wasn't overly concerned with the level of service as I would just be picking up prescriptions monthly. HOWEVER, on my second visit the front desk informed me that my deductible had not been met and my total bill was $104 (strange as my first visit was a $25 co-pay). On my third visit, my total went back to the the $25 co-pay. When I inquired as to why my previous visit was four times as much due to the deductible not being met, she informed me it was a mistake on their end and thus, I had a $100 credit. This was AFTER she already ran my card for that visits co-pay. Not sure when or if she was planning to tell me that I had a credit- all I know is me being out $100 for several weeks when I didn't need to be, caused more financial struggle than I already have. Second issue with this center is the inability to get in touch with a physicians assistant. I called at 8am yesterday and left a message at the request of the voice-mail. I continued to call throughout the day only to be directed back to the same voice-mail. I finally received a call back at 4:35...while I was conveniently unable to answer. Upon calling them back, guess what? Voice mail. Tried to call again this morning, this time opting to speak to someone in scheduling. I explained to her that I had already left a message yesterday morning and needed to speak to someone directly. She kindly transferred me....to the infamous voice-mail. I hung up, and called scheduling right back. I again, asked specifically for the woman who contacted me the day prior at 4:35. The scheduling desk said she would be happy to transfer me to leave a message for her as she was not yet in the office. It's now been two hours since I've called and still no response. I understand they have several clients who I'm sure are leaving messages just like mine, but it has been well over 24 hours since my initial contact. The longer I wait, the longer I am without my RX. The longer I wait, the more changes I'll have to resubmit blood work. The longer I wait, the more and more I want to give them the middle finger and go elsewhere. UPDATE: As of 10 till 5pm I still had not heard back in regards to my 8am voice-mail, so I decided to call yet again. I FINALLY was connected with the woman I had been waiting on all day who then took no more than three minutes to inform me that I would need to schedule a new appointment and oh, by the way, there would be a $25 fee. Now I'm not sure why it took 48 hours to get that information to me when she could have easily 1. left such on the initial voice-mail from the day prior, 2. taken 3 minutes out of her day to call and leave a new voice-mail and/or speak with me directly, or even 3. simply have the front desk tell me this simple tid-bit of information. Now it has been an additional 2 days of just waiting for someone to be efficient in their job. I am looking forward to a second $25 co-pay on top of a ridiculous $25 fee- for what, I'm not sure? I feel as if the woman who handled my situation was slightly rude and overall impersonal, making me feel at fault for this RX mistake (granted, I technically was) and that she didn't have the time of day for me. If I had the choice to take my business elsewhere. Again....another UPDATE: I am beyond words that I feel the need to continue updating this post with negative information. On my last month's visit, thanks to new insurance, my copay increased. Whatever, it happens. Well, I was informed from the front desk that I had a $23.20 balance. Not sure where this came from nor why it was such and odd amount due. They couldn't seem to tell me either. So, I opted to pay it on my next visit so that I may investigate its origin. Today I had my monthly visit, and upon checkout, was informed that last month my copay was $60 but I had only paid $25 and would need to pick up that balance. I immediately pulled the up the $60 charge on my mobile banking to show the front desk clerk. She didn't even bother to look up at it, just kept mumbling rudely. She suddenly finds where, oh, lo and behold, I DID pay $60 last month but now I suddenly have a balance due on my account of $163?! You figure it out lady. I'm over your lack of intelligence. I walk out of the office and realize, hey, they never even gave me my RX. The physician assistant then comes back up and says, "Oh, you're done with your meds." Nope, I'm on month 5. Last month I discussed with the Certified Physician Assistant (the one they replaced my actual MD with without notification or confirmation from me) that we would go 6 months. Sooooo back into the doctors office I go (after the front desk clerk tries to tell my monthly med calculations are wrong). Horrible, dreadful, money guzzling place. read more

I had a check up today with Dr. Nguyen. Before going to this appointment I read reviews about the Sugar Land and Katy locations. Contrary to some of the reviews I read, I felt Dr. Nguyen was extremely professional, thorough in her exam of my moles and complimentary towards me. Unlike the Sugar Land office, where I question why an assistant to a PA I used to see was not wearing gloves.. and also I felt like I upset the PA because after she removed a benign spot off my chest, it became infected and I felt like the PA was threatened by my questions about the infection and my complaint about the assistant not wearing gloves. Just decided I need to go to someone else. If someone is doing anything like numbing my skin for a biopsy( which was the procedure) I expect them to wear gloves. Very unprofessional. I did go back one time to the Sugar Land location and saw someone else, who I liked, but this time they had no openings when I needed to be seen on my time frame but the Katy location had an opening . Things happen for a reason, and I'm glad I ended up with Dr. Nguyen at Katy Advanced Dermatology! read more

Dr. Ingraham excised a cyst on the side of my face that had been plaguing me for the better part of a year. At my first appointment, she presented me with all my treatment options but noted that the only permanent solution was to cut it out; however, this would leave a small scar. I was reluctant to mar my Adonis-like visage, but the desire to be free of this unholy pox trumped my vanity. The day of the surgery I was ill at ease (did I mention how good-looking I am), but the nurse who prepped me was delightful and Dr. Ingraham was an absolute pro. After she stitched me up she told me to come back for a follow-up. At my third appointment, Dr. Ingraham removed the stitches. A nurse could have just as easily performed this task, but Dr. Ingraham recalled how apprehensive I had been about the cosmetic result. I am happy to report that it healed beautifully and people have told me that the scar actually lends a certain ruggedness to what may have been "too pretty" a face. Advanced Dermatology cares about their patients. I give them my highest recommendation. read more

I will never go to any other dermatologist! Dr. Duncan has taken care of me for about 7 years now, and she is an incredible doctor. The best thing about her is that she is an expert on making you look refreshed and younger without any signs that you have had anything done. I get Botox and filler from Dr. Duncan, and no one can believe that I am 44, or for that matter that I have had any work done. Subtlety is her specialty! Almost every person who has asked me where I go has then become a patient of Dr. Duncan's. Mary Beth Strayer, who is an aesthetician at Advanced Dermatology also does amazing work and she as well as Dr. Duncan both have a keen eye for assessing your particular needs, without pushing unnecessary treatments or products. I have gone to Ad Derm for about 8 years now. For most of my life I've had horrible acne, but the doctors there continuously gave me new options. They never told me there was nothing else to try, and now I can happily say my acne is under control and has been for several years now. Sadly, my last visit was a frustrating disaster. Laser is in a small, airless room that is jammed with equipment. (Fat freezing is a significant part of the business and I predict it will probably be half in a few years.) Anyway, getting things burned off my face and the laser BREAKS! It reminded me of a GPS recalculating. Recalibrating. Recalibrating. Finally finished my treatment and went to check out. Where I met Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber. I tried to schedule my next appointments. Couldn't do it. I asked a question. Went to the back to ask someone else and proceeded to answer the wrong question. Tried to leave and they made me go to the lobby to stand in line behind some other people. (We used to checkout privately in the back.) So I get to the front of the line and told them for the third time that I had PREPAID. She went to check something in the back and I just left. I was late for my next appointment elsewhere and had to cancel it. Looking into other dermatology practices. Two stars are because I like the doctors. read more

Horrible service. Talked me into getting a procedure. Took off of work and show up for them to tell me I need to reschedule. Rescheduled the appointment and had to take another day off. Then they tell me they will refund me $200 for the inconvenience. They never refunded me, when I asked they stated that they couldn't give me cash, but that they can give me an account credit. I loved Dr. Sherry Ingraham and tried to see her a few months ago for a large painful lump in front of my ear. I was told it had been too long since I'd seen her last and I was now considered a new patient and she doesn't take new patients. the receptionist tried to make an appoint with a different doc in 3 weeks. I tried to explain that I could not wait that long and didn't get any help. was treated by a teledoc for a skin infection and got the help I needed. people need to stop recommending Dr. Ingraham if she won't take new patients. forever a former patient. I would not go here again ever! I had Several issues to take care of - Body check, tags, wart etc. She would not do "all in one visit". Dr. Ingraham said I would need to schedule another appointment. This translating into another visit charge of $184 plus additional freeze or tag removal charges. She did the body check so quickly I felt uneasy -thinking I need to have someone else check again. My conclusion: 1) Top priority is a 15 minute time limit per room. I was left with an "impersonal" impression. 2) Watch your insurance coverage- Dr Ingraham classifies these procedures as "surgery" that goes to my deductible- out of pocket expenses. If you do not want surprises I would clarify with insurance and the Dr. Office- the procedure classifications and deductible costs. Example: Freezing a wart is considered surgery by Dr Ingraham and I am charged $194 for surgery and then the $184 office visit too. Dr Ingraham said it may take a few visits to remove the wart! Above cost times expensive wart!!! Biopsy is also considered a surgery at this office.. When I got the bill I was astounded $617 total and I still have my wart.... Why did she not discuss the options for me? So I may choose to have the wart cut out at a one time charge of $194 vs having to go several time to "freeze" it. To Freeze a wart, the Dr. taps the wart with Dry ice like they do for teenage acne. When I questioned dried ice as a surgery, the accounting personnel said: There are only four options to describe service when submitting claim to my insurance company...? Hmmn... Is this Insensitive or padding the bill? 3) Outcome: A Referral of another dermatologist who has a more caring attitude. I will post another review when I make my annual appointment next year for a body check. 4) Advice: Watch the details with Advanced Dermatology or look elsewhere. PS: Here say only ...I ran into a friend who gave me the above referral and who knew of Advanced Dermatology. I am experiencing what Amanda J. is experiencing with this practice. They were supposed to call me back 2 weeks ago, no call!! It is ridiculously difficult to get answers when there is a problem. Okay, so here's my situation - in October 2013, I was told my daughter's procedure was cosmetic, so I figured no rush since I had to pay it out of pocket anyways. Well, lo and behold, my daughter had her procedure in March 2014 and they decided to make it a medical procedure. Soooo, it's costing us almost $200 now, where it would have only cost us $28 if it were done last year as a medical procedure (our deductible was met last year). I am frustrated that it is costing us out of pocket $172 more dollars because the doctor changed the way the procedure was to be billed. UGH!! Let's get it together folks!! read more

I brought my daughter here because years ago I saw dr. Ingraham (sp?) and she was awesome. When she started having skin problems I made her an appointment right away. The clinic was clean and the receptionists were pleasant. The MA Kendra was personable and knowledgeable. She made my 14 year old daughter relax. Enter Nguyen. Ugh!!! She asked about sports, pe, dance.. and just say there with glazed eyes. She then told us that all of those things (that she does NOT do) are causing her problems. When we pointed out again that she doesn't do them she rolled her eyes and called it a mystery. I have had five cancerous moles removed and she told me that removing a mole off my daughter with changes.. would be a cosmetic charge of $300. Ummm. She didn't even look at the mole. She was rude, thoughtless, very poor at assessment, and she talked to us like we were toddlers. I'll go back and see another provider. PLEASE DO NOT GET NGUYEN. total waste of my time. I came to the Katy office for laser hair removal after driving 30 minutes. The RN informs they do not have the YAG laser to help treat ethnic skin tones and basically there was nothing she could do. She saw the disappointment but then she referred me to their Galleria clinic. There was told that lady was not accepting any new patients. I've been going here for years because of Dr. Moore, who was excellent in both service and spirit, but apparently she couldn't take it anymore so she left. Now when I visit, it's like I've never been there before. No consideration for my past business or loyalty, no smiles or well wishes, no one knows my name, and no one cares about anything. When you have a need or ask a question, all anyone here can do is quote, "company policy". Apparently no one has the authority (or the ability) to use their own brain to do what is right or make decisions that build quality relationships. Spend your time and money elsewhere. I signed up for a chemical peel package, a savings of $75.00 and paid in advance, (my biggest mistake). After the first peel I decided to switch to a photo facial. They charged me a $ 75.00 cancellation fee for changing packages. They said it was explained in their "Treatment and Financial Agreement" and I quote , "By signing I agree to adhere to all pre/post instructions given to me by Advanced Dermatology & Skin Care ,PA. I also understand that payment of services is non-refundable/non-transferable." I visited Dr. Kelly Duncan due to her being a very highly recommended dermatologist in the Katy Area. I had to wait weeks to visit her which wasn't a problem, I knew that with her being so highly recommended she'd be booked. On the day of my visit it took over an hour to finally be call to a room, an hour after my scheduled appointment. Once there I wait a few more minutes then Dr. Duncan came in asked for the reason of my visit, check the area that had the issue and determined the diagnosis. She stated that I would have to visit a General Surgeon to perform a minor surgery and recommended me a surgeon to contact. I was hoping for more from her but I was okay and thankful for her diagnosis and recommendation. That same day I called the surgeon and booked an appointment to visit him. On the day of my visit with the General Surgeon he asked for my reason for the visit and I told him I was referred by Dr. Duncan and told him the diagnosis that Dr. Duncan had stated. He looked at the area with the issue and stated that he didn't see anything wrong and didn't know why Dr. Duncan would give such diagnosis. He said that surgery could be performed but it would more harm than good. I walked out of there with the complete opposite thing that Dr. Duncan told me and had to pay another doctors visit that I didn't even need. Now, today to be exact, I receive a bill from the General Surgeon for over $100 in a doctors visit after already paying on the day of my visit. I am absolutely upset! One because I took her word on my diagnosis and she was WRONG! And two because now I am being billed for a doctors visit that I didn't need! She should be the one paying my bill for falsely suggesting I visit the General Surgeon! read more

My issue isn't so much with the doctors as it is with the front staff. I was in on Tuesday and while I was waiting an older man walked in and tried to check in. The girl at the desk told him that his appointment had been canceled because his doctor had called out and that he received a call yesterday to inform him. He told her that he did not get a call. She literally scoffed at him and said "that's impossible" in a very condescending voice. He asked her to look at the call log on his phone and she said "sir I'm not going there with you and I'm not going to argue with you about this. Would you like to reschedule you're appointment or not?" He said yes. The girl pulled up his account and said "oh we didn't' even have you on the schedule today (even though he showed her the reminder card). She then apologized for insisting that he received a call, but for me the whole encounter was beyond rude. Even if the man had received a call it was not ok for her to speak to him like that. Now on to my experience. After meeting with the doctor and going over my treatment plan I was asked to wait in the room while the staff member put everything in. I heard the doctor tell her to get me some samples of the new cream I would be using. I waited in there for no less then 15 min before she came in and said "oh sorry, you're done you can follow me." I went to the desk and was told I was good to go. I left and then remembered I was supposed to get samples. But thought to myself no big deal. The mail order pharmacy I go through always delivers stuff the next morning so I wasn't too concerned about not getting the samples. Well I called the pharmacy and they said they had not received the prescription yet. So I waited until the next day and called and they still didn't have it. Later that day I got a call from Advanced Dermatology saying that the pills (that I always get) could not be filled at Kroger because they don't stock them. I asked them why they even tried to send them there since I have been getting everything through the mail order pharmacy that THEY recommended for MONTHS. The girl said "oh sorry the girl who put everything in is new." So Long story shorter ish, it is Thursday and I still don't have my meds, or any samples to hold me over. The doctors are ok, but the over all vibe of the office is money hungry and negative. I need to find a new office. read more

The waiting area is very comfortable, receptionist is friendly and offices are clean and overall inviting Dr Ingraham is warm has a great attitude and demonstrates professional expertise. I scheduled an appointment with who i thought was going to be Dr. Harrell but instead was with Piper Allen. The wait time was over 35 minutes. I was there early on purpose to be seen early. I guess they don't work like that. The nurse was short and keep looking at my up and down as if I was no dress appropriately (I was in workout clothes) She did not take me serious. she was short and did not even try to make a personal connection, she was not friendly at all. Piper, came in and examined me in a short 5 minutes, she was short and spoke in Doctor language - and gave me names of facial cleansers, moisturizer, and toner which i have no idea what it is anymore because she was rushing. after she was done, she shook my hand and directly went to the hand sanitizer.. to wash her hand.. making me feel like i am gross or have a Disease.. in which i do not. The nurse and her left.. while they were gone, i had received a phone call with blood work results from a doctor that i had seen the week before. the nurse came back in &was talking to me and handing me papers, ushering me out of the room, trying to sell me products and walking me to the front desk to pay. all while i am trying to talk about my Doctor on the phone. I was overwhelmed by the rude nurse that she could not wait for me to get off the phone. I had to get off the phone with my doctor and have her come back to the desk and explain everything once again. very unprofessional and rude. will not be returning again. read more

Ive been seeing Dr. Sherry Ingraham in the Katy office for over 4 years and she and her staff have seriously transformed and beautified my face. Dr. Ingraham is a master and artist at botox and fillers, and her prescribed daily regimine has left me with the clearest and brightest skin. I have also had IPL done twice by Mary Beth, and the results are better then I expected due to the many years of sun damage I've accumulated. My experience at Advanced Dermatology has always been top notch, and the staff has been nothing less then kind, understanding and considerate. read more

very dissappointed!! i was referred by PCP for a breakout i had on my scalp. i scheduled an appointment, and the same day of my appointment my daughter had a stomach bug and we had to rush to the Dr. i couldnt make my appointment so i called to reschedule, they reacheduled without an issue. I came in 1 hour earlier to fill my paperwork , they called me back. The MA asked me what was i being seen for and i mentioned 3 problems i had (hives, skin discoloration, scaly scalp.) she said since i was a New pt they could only see me for one thing that i needed to have another follow up appt for the other issues to be addressed so I need to pick one problem for today. ok i did. then the office manager came in to the room to check the referral and see if they could even see me based on the reason for referral. Since it was for hives and rash, she said there wasnt much they could do that day since it wasnt an active problem at that moment that i needed to come in when i had it showing (so at night or in the middle of my work day i had to come ? That made no sense! ) . so end of story i was not seen. went to check out and requested a refund for the 60$ copay, to fund out they couldnt refund it because they had to charge me for the $40 no show fee ( which no one had told me i was going to be charged for since i did call telling them i had an emergency), and there was no way they could refund the 20$ only. I took off of work to attend the appt, and left the office without being seen, charged 60$ and still with all the same skin issues. Waste of time and money!! Not happy at all! read more

Clients gets screwed when the staff at Advanced Dermatology makes an error, there is no accountability on the part of AD or recourse for the customer. When I called to make the initial appointment, the clerk asked me the reason for my visit to which I stated, " clogged pores and occasional break outs on my face" and she replied that I would "have to make, two separate appointments the doctor will only see a patient for one thing at a time". So the Dr. will look at the pimple on my cheek, then make me book another appointment for another day to look at the blemish on my forehead. Really..are you kidding me? I should have heeded the uneasy feeling in my gut and backed out then, but my sister had highly recommended Shayla Arceneaux, so I went ahead and booked an appointment for 11:30am the following Friday. As the clerk was giving me the information I jointed the address, time & telephone number on a 'post it' to have for reference since it would be my first visit and I would be driving 35 miles to get to their Katy office. I arrived at 11:33am (admittedly, I was 3 minutes late because the dentist appointment I had at 8:00am that same day took longer than usual), approached the desk and gave my name. The clerks told me that my appointment was at 11:15 and I would have to re-schedule. I was horrified and attempted to plead my case and tell them that I was told 11:30am. I showed them the "post it" and stressed why would I write 11:30 if I was told 11:15? My pleading fell on cold, deaf ears. they repeated that my appointment was for 11:15, and said the doctor had already left for the day. This experience was hugely disappointing, needless to say, I did not reschedule. I will not go back nor recommend AD to anyone. You have been warned. read more

Customer Service at Advanced Dermatology (AD) Katy, TX office is lacking and is more focused on process than on customer experience or customer retention. I recently returned to AD Katy after having lived outside the area for several years and promptly booked an appointment at AD Katy. Having not yet received an insurance card, I verified all pertinent data with my insurance carrier and provided this data to AD's admittance staff. Due to not having a physical insurance card, I was declined service and was told the staff would not utilize the provided phone number for the insurance company to verify my benefits as this was against policy. I understand policy's are often enacted for good reason. However, quality customer service often requires doing whatever possible to provide for a superior customer experience, especially when a policy appears to be quite arbitrary. I can say that while the office certainly seemed busy, this office just lost several customers as a byproduct of not taking the extra step for this one customer. read more

Ineffective scheduling and record keeping. Had a consult with Duncan for a scar. She recommended dermabrasion and I scheduled the treatment that day when I left the office. When I went back, I was taken to a room for a cosmetic chemical peel and I never saw Dr. Duncan. I commented that I had not scheduled a cosmetic treatment and somehow there was confusion between a microdermabrasion and a real dermabrasion. The confusion also resulted in a $125 charge rather than a $50 copay for a medical procedure. Subsequently, I tried to schedule a "clinical appointment" with Duncan and was given a 1:30 pm appointment on a Friday. Several weeks later, I received a call saying that the appointment needed to be rescheduled because clinical appointments don't start till 2 pm on Fridays for Duncan. I returned the call to change the appointment but could not get a slot for several weeks following the original appointment, but I booked it. Three days after rescheduling, I received another call asking me to reschedule the original appointment. Huh? At that point, I realized they don't know which end is up in that office and in the meantime, I had already found another doctor and been seen. Terrible! 1 star is too much! Waiting time at the office was 45 minutes. The time with Dr.Ducan was about 5 min or less to find out that for a simple procedure I have to be re-scheduled in 2 months! Wasting of your money and time! I will never come there back! read more

Dr. Mary Moore gave me my annual skin physical, looking all over for suspicious looking moles, before I went to MD Anderson for my female physical. Dr. Moore noticed a mole on my shoulder that did not look right (Truly, I have 1,000 of these moles) and asked me if I noticed it growing and I said that a matter of fact I had. She removed the mole and it turned out to be Melanoma that I later found out had spread on my shoulder. My hat is off to Dr. Moore and I thank her every day for her keen eye. I will be back each and every year. Caught earlier, due to me not keeping my appointment, I might not have had to have my whole shoulder skin removed :( read more

I practically live at Advanced Dermatology Katy Location. I have been going there since 2005. The staff is incredible professional, friendly and welcoming. I do go there for your regular skin problems but I go there mostly for cosmetic procedures. I ONLY see Dr. Kelly Duncun she is FABULOUS!!! She is an artist! I am very picky on the type of results I'm looking for and she NEVER fails me. I LOVE HER! She is professional, and at the sametime she makes me feel like I'm one of her girlfriends. I would never see any other doctor there. She takes her time and takes to me about what she thinks and what I want and the practicality of my results. She is very honest about what I should expect and I can always count on her and her office to carry the best products and the best equipment. I trust her completely. I also see Marybeth Strayer for my chemical peels and sometime IPL treatments. She has become not only my favorite esthetican but my favorite reason for going there. I can't wait to see her every six weeks. She is like a sister to me. I LOVE HER TOO!! She is very professional, always takes me on time and more important than that is the quality of her work is incredible. She takes her time and gives me 100% of her focus when I'm in her chair. She takes wonderful care of me. Again I wouldnt see any other esthetican. I havent had any bad service, treatments or results in all the years I have been going there. I also would like to compliment the staff. Ellie is a blast to talk to, she always takes the time to ask me how I am and how my day was. She goes above and beyond trying to schedule my appointments for me. Dr. Ingraham gave me amazing filler and botox, and I've received multiple compliments since going to her and Advanced Dermatology.

The customer service is really poor. The 3 dermatologist i have seen in the past 3years had really bad bedside manners, no empathy or human conection at all. They seemed to be open to make money and not to provide health and care.. I would not recommend, i went there for a long time in hopes that the people i had was different now..
