Missed the mark! Went in with an obvious case of perioral dermatitis. Have experienced this once before. Not only was I prescribed a cream that does nothing but moisturize (Promiseb) and not treat the issue (non medicated) I was prescribed a face wash containing sulfa antibiotics which is clearly listed on my chart as an allergy I returned to the Derm who treated my perioral dermatitis the first time and will continue with him from this point forward. From the start, the customer service was subpar. When I called to ask about skin tag removal pricing, I was told they would look into it and provide an answer when I arrived. However, when I got there, I was informed that skin tag removal across the board is $100 for all insurance plans. The lack of transparency was frustrating, especially considering I was given a vague response initially. The dermatologist I saw, Piipar, also failed to properly explain that the $100 fee was for multiple skin tags, leading me to believe it was $100 per tag. I was made to pick and choose which skin tags I wanted removed, creating unnecessary confusion. Additionally, I was recommended a product and was told that it would be ready for me at checkout. When I inquired about it at the front desk, the staff made me wait for over 5 minutes before I had to ask them if they could just email me the name of the product. They were unable to, but said that they would call me later. After no response I messaged for the information in the portal and received no response again. I called again and was able to get the information I needed a week after my appointment. Every single step of my visit was frustrating, and its clear that good service is only given to those who are well-known by the staff. I was recommended this office by a co-worker, but after this experience, I will never return and will make sure to warn others to stay away. I cannot believe I did not read the reviews before I came here. The negative reviews are warranted! I went for a skin cancer screening. She barely looked at me from head to toe. It took less than one minute and she said I was fine no problem areas but then I pointed to a spot on my nose that I was worried about. She says oh yeah, I overlooked that! This is the most unprofessional and incompetent doctor's office I have ever dealt with. They wrote a lab order for a lab an hour from my house. When I called to have them change the lab order they gave me the runaround every time I called. I spent 3 hours at this Lab waiting for them to send the order, but they never would, so I had to keep calling back. Come to find out they had the phone number written down wrong. When I went to my office visit, they left me waiting for 40 minutes and ended up not doing what they needed to for the ipledge to be prescribed Accutane and then blamed me. So, I wasted $117 for nothing and had to wait another month, do another lab, and go back for another appointment. I have been going to the Katy location for several years to see Dr Kelly Duncan. NEVER AGAIN! I was once again stood up by this non-caring, always late and in a hurry, less than thorough person. I refuse to call her a doctor again. I was stood up by another DUNCAN EMERGENCY. As I waited outside a locked door at the Katy location for my 8:00 an appt I was finally allowed in at 8:03 only to find out from the receptionist that there was another "emergency " and Duncan would be late AGAIN. The receptionist stated she called my phone. There was not a call placed. At my annual visit last year she arrived to the office 35 minutes late. No problem as she will make the time up by cutting everyone short. Last year I had a mole removed from my face that she had "overlooked " for years. The results NEVER came and I am now left with a black dot on my face. I guess she wanted me to remember the mole. In 2020 as I was getting ready for my 8:00 appt I got an email that my visit had been cancelled 30 min before my appt. Another Duncan emergency. I thought the office would call for rescheduling but that was a joke. No call, no appointment. You won't have to look far for a dermatologist. Houston has many but avoid this person in both Pearland and Katy. My a doctor who cares! Ps. I also had cosmetic procedures done twice which were all out of pocket. Over $500.00 wasted. Bumps came right back and she won't use loupes to see what she's using the laser on! read more

Excellent services and excellent medical services. I called today to get an appointment and I book my appointment for today . When an hour later, I got there, they told me that my appointment was booked for tomorrow. I work every day except Monday. So I told the reception that I am not able to make it tomorrow. She fitted me to today's schedule, but an hour later. Then I had consultation which she was very professional and patiently explained all my options. At the end , I decided to have my service. The best part was meeting Mrs. Piipar Rivera. Not only, she was beautiful, she was so sweet and kind. I am disappointed, because the doctor should not have been out of office on a day she was committed to be there. I wrote a complaint with Texas Medical Board and it promoted the management team to take a look at my situation. The director of operations gave me a call and apologized for what happened and they were able to find that they had the necessary information in time to file with the insurance company. The manager of the billing department is no longer there and they've rescinded the file with the collection agency. I don't think it should have to take a complaint with the board to get attention from any practice, but I'm glad the truth came out. With that said, the doctor and medical staff there were very friendly and we'll be coming back there for our yearly check up. read more

This place was terrible. I took my son in for an acne facial and he looked horrible when we left. I expected her to steam him, clean the skin and put a cooling mask on to calm the skin. He left there red and irritated, she told me to put ice on it. This is not the job of a professional esthetician. This office is so unprofessional, careless and a complete ripoff. The owners look down at their customers and they will refuse to speak to you since they consider us to be beneath them despite spending thousands of dollars at their office. I had Fraxel procedures here, and I was not happy with the results. I was burned and I began bleeding during the procedure, which caused a big scar. My acne scars are still there. They took forever to respond to my review on Google, and I was asked to call and speak to Magdalena, who is the office manager. I addressed my concerns to her, and she said she'd call me back, but she never did. I called and asked to speak to the owners, and they refused to take my call. The only thing they're good for is taking your money and then ignoring you. The right thing to do is to reimburse me. read more

Honestly it wasn't amazing but not awful either. i went a few months ago for just a few minor concerns. The receptionist were nice and it's a plus that they have a contract with EltaMD but the Dr. I went to did not seem to really care about me at all. I went in paying a $60 copay- no big deal I felt like i would get some really good insight. The doctor saw me for like less than 5 minutes didn't really address any of my concerns. She recommended some "popular" skincare but the ingredients are not good. Overall, I do not want to question the quality of the Dr because i'm sure she is great, I just think they tried to schedule too many people at once that they can't really give you the experience you deserve. read more

I finally got my adult acne under control after years of battling with awful cystic acne, with the help of Advanced Dermatology prescribing me Onexton. I ran out and didn't realize it was my last refill and called to see if they could call in a script until I was able to come in for a visit. My son has the flu, so it would be incredibly inconsiderate of me to bring him in so I could get a script, I just wanted enough to last until I could come in for an appointment. They refused to call in a script until they saw me in the office. As a dermatologist office they should understand how hard it is to get acne under control, and how long it takes to get it back under control once it comes back. It's just been days and my face is already breaking out again. I will not be going back. I guess the moral of the story is if you need an acne med go ahead and bring your flu riddled offspring into this dermatologist, because they can't accommodate for real life situations. I should also mention that I brought my son in to see what was wrong with him last year when he contracted staff infection with scalded skin syndrome. The pediatrician recommended it after we saw her to confirm if it could be scalded skin syndrome. The Dr. saw him for less than 30 seconds, his skin had already started pealing off of his face, and said he simply had a case of dermatitis and told us to give him children's claritin and sent us on our way. Luckily we already had an appointment with another dermatologist to see him for a second opinion the next morning, and they told us to take him straight to the hospital because it was a severe case of staff infection. I can't believe after that I considered going back for myself, but I figured for my acne that was already under control it was not so dire circumstances. I will never be going back here again, and I highly recommend the same for anyone else. If I could give them negative stars I would. read more

Overall, I was happy with my results, but I do have a few complaints and will not be returning. I receive injections to treat a medical condition called hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), but I was left with bruising and slight asymmetry, as well as painful injections and pain at the injection site. The doctor listened to me and adjusted for my concerns, but the nurses seemed unconcerned with the idea of pain management of any kind. The treatment also wasn't as effective as I've received in the past. Again, the results were OK (that's why the 3 stars), but I've received much better results elsewhere and I've had treatments for years that never resulted in any problems, pain or "sweating" through after treatment (- 2 stars). I was charged twice what I would normally pay to boot. The doctors in Southern California are much better and cheaper! read more

I found Dr Duncan to be very arrogant, her nurse who showed us into the room looked very bored. Neither of them introduced themselves! Dr Duncan spoke very fast and and was not warm or friendly. I will not go again! My son was being seen for breakouts and they prescribed one medicine and it was working quite well (not prescribed by Dr. Duncan) however when we went to refill the prescription it took us four times and they never filled the order ! they never communicated with CVS therefore we made a new appointment and went in and Dr. Duncan change the medication and that wasn't working so I had to call back and get the original medication. Each time we went we were seen by different doctors and different physicians assistant's we felt no consistency in the doctors care. read more

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I have been going here for 15 years, fighting psoriasis, getting Botox, and a few other fun anti-aging treatments. Mostly, I see Dr. Duncan for psoriasis covering my whole body. I've fought psoriasis my entire life, since 4 months old - for real. I've seen many many doctors in my 54 years, and the standard treatments I received as a child, we now know were harmful and cause skin cancer. At the time in the 70s it was the standard clinical treatment. I see Dr. Duncan every 3 or 4 months now and she is a warrior, a true warrior that battles my skin with me. I have never been clear, never, until I saw Dr. Duncan 15 years ago. Anyone with severe psoriasis knows this kind of battle and what works one day, doesn't work the next. She is the only, and I mean ONLY doctor in my life that has worked so hard to help me and get my skin clear. She has all of the latest medications and biologics. Yes she talks fast, yes there is a wait sometimes, but it's worth it. And you should speak up and ask her to slow down if you aren't happy with the way the visit is going. Patients have a responsibility too, and Dr. Duncan can't be expected to know what style a patient prefers without the patient speaking up. She is not in my network so I am a cash pay patient and I have NEVER had any issues with extra changes or anything not explained to me in detail beforehand, not in 15 years of going here. Everyone has a bad experience sometime, but there is no way all of these people with such negative reviews are being completely truthful. If you want to look great with realistic Botox, Dr. Duncan is the one to see. If you have a skin issue like psoriasis, Dr. Duncan is the one to see. She will fight with you. She makes me feel beautiful and gives me clear skin. She has literally saved my life because psoriasis is more than skin deep. Read the reviews on their website. Horrible, Horrible Service, 4 emails, 3 people and 6 hours to verify an appointment and still have not been able to access the portal for the basic information needed for the appointment. Really Bad Service! I was a patient with Advanced Dermatology in Katy for several years. I was never really happy with the service or the staff but due to the location and as hard as it is to get into a Dermatologist, I continued to see them. My biggest complaint is their lack of service and impersonal, flippant staff both on the medical and cosmetic side. I have had several frustrating incidents, all that could have probably been brushed off if it weren't for rude, unresponsive staff. I have also seen other post about the rude staff so I know it's not just me! The first incident was about 1 1/2 years ago when I thought I might have had an allergic reaction which caused me to breakout in little bumps; it wasn't life threatening so I felt the my dermatologist was the best bet. The front desk said they couldn't make an appt. for me because they were booked up 2 months out. I asked to leave a message for the nurse and ended up leaving TWO messages with no return call. I ended seeing my GP who was able to see me the next morning and prescribe the antibiotics I needed. I also purchased a package of 5 chemical peels and it wasn't cheap. I was not given anything that said their was a time limit to use the package. I called the cosmetic desk and left a message...again 2 TIMES. On the 3rd try, I finally got someone on the phone who was immediately short with me. I asked her about the last chemical peel and she said my package...that I paid for...was not longer valid since it was past a year. There are several other Dermatologist in Katy that are really great, offer incredible service and treat their patients with kindness and respect. I now go to Dr. Cox at Clear Dermatology. She is so GREAT and the staff is really nice. A little goes a long way. read more

The most glaring problem was that my file was not up to date! I was on my 4th visit to this office and was asked where I had been for so long. When I replied that I didn't fully understand what they meant I was told that I had come in for my initial consultation and then just "disappeared". When I tried to correct the doctor I was told that she had no record of me being there in her file! Not a good sign when you are dealing with a physician! When I told her that I had been on the treatment regimen that she had prescribed for a year and that it worked well she basically accused me of receiving the script from another doctor or some other source because she had no record of ever prescribing it. Never knew that dermatological medications could be bought back in the alley. In addition to this last and final visit, on my 3rd visit the front office staff "missed" my name on the sign in sheet and never did call me. After waiting an hour, I told them that I had to return to work. They tried to get me in right then but I had to get back to my office. I should have known something like this was going to happen when the entire front office staff was wearing tight little black tee's with BOTOX written in rhinestones across the front. Needless to say I left and will never return. If you are looking for Botox treatments I believe that they have plenty of it there but if you need real medical attention you would be better off going elsewhere. read more

Great doctor ! She's amazing ! She knowledgeable on skin for sure because she really could tell instantly by looking at the leg issue she thought why not look at the back . I wasn't sure if I should have gone through with the appointment, since I usually want to see the dermatologist when I go to a dermatology clinic, but I figured, what the heck. The clinic is located behind a Black-Eyed Pea restaurant and the parking lot is a bit tight. Inside, I was greeted by Debbi, who handled my paperwork. I waited for only a few minutes when Allen's medical assistants (Yes, the assistant has assistants!), Brandon/Brendan and another woman came to fetch me. I was asked some questions by the two assistants for about 10 minutes, then saw Allen for what seemed like 5. She seemed quite impersonal, almost robotic when she diagnosed my acne. Mind you, she barely even looked at me or got close to me for that matter. She was standing at one wall, while I sat on the exam bed at the other wall. Allen almost sounded as if she were working for the pharmaceutical companies herself. Emphasizing the need for me to get a specific brand name topical. Long story short, she did not seem to care. So, no, I will not be going back. I'll find someone who will actually take the time to diagnosis me, or at least pretend to. P.S. - If you're ever in the Washington, D.C., area, I recommend going to Integrated Dermatology of K Street to see Dr. Clinzo P. Mickle, M.D., F.A.A.D. He's awesome, genuinely cares, and gives me fist bumps! I mean, c'mon, could you get a dermatologist any cooler than that? read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! after 4 years of my daughter being on an antibiotic for her acne and nothing improving and my concerns about the prolonged daily use of an antibiotic, I insisted on switching to another staff member in the practice for another opinion. We had been seeing PA Rivera (who likes to only prescribe medicine that can be bought from a specialty pharmacy in Dallas and is never cover by insurance). I booked an appointment with Dr. Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen immediately put my daughter on an anti-fungal medicine because she said my daughter had been taking the antibiotic for so long it had caused a fungal infection on my daughter's face!!! Why didn't the PA know that?!?!?! After a week of the anti-fungal, the doctor suggested Accutane. In order to be on Accutane, the doctor requires female patients to use 2 forms of birth control (pills and condoms) because Accutane will cause sever birth defects if you get pregnant while on it, so you are not allowed to get pregnant (I asked to around to other moms and they said that their daughters had to also do this before taking Accutane). The doctor wrote us a prescription for birth control pills and when my daughter picked them up at the pharmacy, it cost her $44 for a 1-month supply!!!!! I called insurance to see why the birth control pills were so expensive and they said it was because the pills were coded for the treatment of acne and NOT for preventing pregnancy. I explained the risk of getting pregnant while taking the acne medicine Accutane was the reason she had to have birth control pills; the doctor said it was to prevent pregnancy. Insurance said they will fax over a form to the doctor so the doctor can state that the use of birth control is to prevent pregnancy and then the cost of the pills will be $0. I called the doctor's office 2 days later to see if they had received the fax and they had, and they listed on the insurance form that the birth control was for acne reasons and not to prevent pregnancy!!! I asked why my daughter had to be on birth control pills and the lady stated IT WAS FOR ACNE TREATMENT!!!!. I told her then that I didn't want that medicine for acne and only wanted the Accutane. She said my daughter had to be on birth control to take Accutane. I asked her why and she didn't answer. I filled in the silence for her--it is because my daughter must PREVENT PREGNANCY!!!! Her response was that she will talk to Dr. Nguyen about changing the insurance code, but it probably would not change. She called me back 10 minutes later and said that Dr. Nguyen agreed--the birth control, while it was to prevent pregnancy, would be submitted to insurance with the code of acne because that was their practice and how they had always done it. Dr. Nguyen also mentioned in our original office visit that while on Accutane, my daughter would need to schedule a monthly appointment to take a pregnancy test and have a blood test to check the medication levels in her system because the dosage of the Accutane would be adjusted each month accordingly. When I mentioned that my daughter was leaving in 2 months for college out-of-state, she said that my daughter could set up a monthly virtual appointment where she could "open a pregnancy test on camera, step off camera and pee on the stick, and then come back on camera to show me that it is negative." I asked if that was going to be considered a normal office visit and incur the $80 copay each time, and she said "yes". I asked about the blood test part to check the medication levels in her system and Dr. Nguyen said we wouldn't worry about that part!!!!! WHAT??? That seems like a VERY IMPORTANT step to skip!!!!! I strongly suggest staying away from this practice!!!! I don't think the right hand knows what the left hand is doing--they don't seem very professional at all. read more

Unfortunately, I have to at least elect one star so I'll be able to post my review. Would absolutely give this place 0 starts. Definitely would NOT recommend. Waited 40 to be seen, this is not including the 10 min that I arrived prior to my appointment. This is not the worse part. The receptionist behaved as if she was doing me a favor by checking me in and assisting me. She asked what pharmacy I preferred, told her Walgreens and mentioned the cross streets. Clearly could tell she was ignoring me. A very long story short, my prescription was sent to CVS and I wasn't able to fill my prescription until a week later! Due to her mistake and carelessness. Save your money and go elsewhere, where they'll be more professional and careful. I recommend Houston Premier Dermatology, the only reason I came here instead of there was that they were booked until mid September and I needed a quick appointment due to my skin discomfort.
