The provider was professional in her communication, the appt lasted 18min to be exact. She addressed my concerns for the issue that Im having. I love education, possible causes and solutions. Not sure I understand the cause, but she addressed the solutions to try for a few mths. Each patient is different, but we must always make sure we not only give solutions but make sure the patients understand what could be possibly going on. I will try her solutions suggested for a few mths, they seem reasonable. Im real big on professionalism and time, she was 38min late for my appt, that's not acceptable. My time is important and she never addressed her tardiness at all. My money and time are important to me. If I was 35min late to an appt or a no show, they would have charged me a huge fee. They make you fill out a form to make sure I understand the policy. I can give a grace period of 10-15min, but not 38min. Don't expect a patient to adhere to policy if your employees are not doing the same. Someone should have addressed this issue before I left. The first impressions are important, this was the first time seeing this provider. Hopefully this will not happen in the future. They also charge a fee of 3% to pay a copay with CC. read more

Dr. Addy and his staff at Palmetto Dermatology are spectacular, I really like his approach and care that he shows in patients. I've been going to this particular practice for many years and they have always served me well. Recently they have been acquired by Advanced Dermatology and Advanced Dermatology makes or tries to change appointments via texts that are originating from a call center somewhere in South America. I spoke to a guy, that called himself Benj, because he called and asked if I wanted to change my appointment to an earlier date. As it turns out the date was not available and I asked him what was the confusion. After several conversations between Palmetto Dermatology and Advanced Dermatology, it seems like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing because there is a lack of communication between the two, which is very unfortunate. I will continue on to be a patient because I like the staff and the doctors but Advanced Dermatology has effectively absorbed and corrupted a very good practice that was functioning well on its own. read more

I had a stellar experience with Anna Gayle. She was kind, informative and thorough. She addressed all of my concerns, removed a suspicious mole with care and ensured I was comfortable. She provided with me with all the information I needed for the questions I had. I was taken to a room within 15 minutes of my arrival and seen by her wishing 20 minutes after I spoke with her nurse. My experience with Palmetto Dermatology was exactly as follows: 1.) I paid $150.00, just to make my appointment. 2.) Upon arrival, I found Receptionist "A" and Receptionist "B" to be quite unfriendly. 3.) I then found out my last name was spelled incorrectly, so I initially couldn't enter my info into their tablet. 4.) After speaking with the Doctor and the P.A. about my reason for the appointment, both the Doctor and the P.A. examined my scalp WITHOUT WASHING THEIR HANDS FIRST, OR PUTTING LATEX GLOVES ON! 5.) When I was checking out, Receptionist "C" told me I owed $130-something more dollars! I explained to her that I already paid $150.00 and she apologized and said they'd mail me a $15.00 check. 6.) It wasn't until I was driving down the road, that I realized I left without a receipt, so I called the Office and they said they'd mail the receipt to me as well. THAT WAS ELEVEN DAYS AGO AND I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE CHECK, OR RECEIPT! 7.) I was prescribed 3 different prescriptions which TOOK EIGHT DAYS TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL. 8.) One prescription is a 4.5" x 1.5" can of mousse/foam, which I was supposed to apply to my scalp, twice a day for 5 days. I was alarmed by how small the can was and knew it wouldn't last for 5 days. So, I called the Office again and they told me I only needed a "quarter-size" amount per each application. NOT TRUE, NOT TRUE AT ALL! On day 2 of applying the mousse/foam twice a day, MORE THAN HALF OF THE CAN WAS ALREADY GONE! 9.) So, I called the Office again, only to find out my Doctor was on Christmas break for a little over a week and a half AND there were only 2 other Doctors left in the Office that were too busy to discuss my issue with me. So I requested that a Nurse call me back and they said the Office is only open until 12-noon on Fridays, but IF a Nurse has time, she'd call me. 10.) A Nurse did call back and said they'd prescribe a different prescription in LIQUID form that comes in a larger container and that I could pick it up at my local Walmart Pharmacy. 11.) I went to the Walmart Pharmacy this morning and the Pharm-Tech told me that Palmetto Dermatology NEVER CALLED IN MY NEW PRESCRIPTION, YESTERDAY!!! IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS..., I WOULD!!! My daughter has repeatedly (4 times!) had a visit for the same thing and the incompetent office staff constantly puts her information into the state system wrong so that a 30 day clock keeps starting over. Not once in the time we have been going here has her information changed but they keep doing it wrong. GET IT TOGETHER! Last month I was told it wouldn't happen again and she should call to make a quicker appointment. 17 calls later with no answer or call back she went in for her scheduled appt today and wouldn't you know, she has to wait 30 days AGAIN for her medication. Needed to get a quick appointment for my foreign exchange student whose acne flared up badly. The earliest they could see her was 5 weeks; for a 30 min. Appointment! Ok, I get it, they are busy. We waited 4 weeks and 1 week before her scheduled appointment, Amber called and said they had to make her another appointment because her previously scheduled appointment was on a surgery day i.e. doc's golf day? What? Next available date? 5 more weeks. They didn't know it was a surgery day when they booked it originally? Get it together. We went elsewhere and they got us in the next week. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Smith's for many years. I have several keloids but 1 is a lot larger than the rest. Dr. Smith has always made sure that he injected enough steroids into the keloids, so they decrease and it reduces the pain. Since Dr. Smith is doing just surgery now, they booked my appointment with Anna Gayle Scott. She was very nice & professional but didn't look at the past injections that I told her about that Dr. Smith had done; to see the amount he injected. She only injected a small amount which made very little difference in the size or pain the keloid is still causing. So now I have to go back & pay again for them to be injected all over again. it is very hard to get to right person they all say call the other, iv had trouble with this same thing, they will send labs off to NC and BCBS are not covered their and i asked that they send labs local in west Columbia not 1 mile from them then all over again they did same thing and NOW this time they said it will be different bill as they know that it will be About $400 more, i went to them as they are under the BCBS umbrella why not keep me in the same umbrella and this is what BCBS told me read more

If there was a such thing as negative stars you wouldn't have gotten the 1 I've given here. I am still in shock of the treatment I received this morning from Dr. Thompson. I called yesterday to schedule an appointment with you because you were referred to me by several family members who see you. When making the appointment the person making the appointment and I talked about how I had been there many years ago for 1 visit but that I did not want to see that PA this time. I was told that was no problem and was scheduled to come at 830 today because you had a cancelation. I get there early and fill out all of my forms and I'm placed in room 6 relatively quickly. Keeping in mind room 6 is right beside your desk area I began to listen to you yell at your staff for having me there. You wanted my old records found, which they did and I was in 7 years ago for 1 visit. They came in and explained that there would be a delay to find my paper file because you were electronic now. They came back again after more yelling from you and told me that you refused to see me because I was a patient of someone else. I explained to them that my entire family saw you and that I felt you should honor my request to change. They left and came back again and you refused again, stating that I would have to be released by the superior of the PA who was in surgery, so that I could wait on him or leave. I again sent her back and ask her to ask you to do the right thing. You see in my career I am also in a customer service business so I know how important it is to treat people fairly. Upon asking again and again hearing you be very rude, I was told I'd have to see Dr. Smith, so they went and got Dr. Smith out of surgery. Keep in mind this was over an hour later. After leaving there in tears I called my daughter was one of the people who gave me your name and she said, "I saw someone else the first time I went there too and they let me switch without a problem". That makes me even more upset. I am astonished that 1- you treat customers like you do and 2- that your poor staff has to put up with you. Your walls are paper thin.
