Terrible service. They stopped picking up recycling weekly, but kept charging the same price. Then, I prepaid for yard waste pickup for May, left my stuff at the curb on the appointed day, and no pickup. My wife called and was told that it would be picked up within the next week, but they couldn't say exactly when. So it sits out in the rain for the following 9 days and still no pickup. Now I'm on hold waiting to find out the latest excuse and the next empty promise. Advanced Disposal has my 35 bucks and I still have my yard waste. 0 star service. Update: After countless hours on hold over 5 or 6 phone calls, I finally got a customer service agent competent enough to realize that they sold me yard waste service when I live in an area that no longer offers yard waste service. We have had a missed pick up two weeks ago. Called customer service they we able to come the next day. fast forward to this past Monday and our garage is still at the end of our driveway and customer service is not answering nor are they calling back. I quit using Advanced over a year ago due to high prices and bad service. Almost 2 weeks ago I witnessed one of their trucks take my cans from my curb. I have no idea why they took the cans - they were my personal cans and even when I used their service I never rented one from them. Their rating is no fluke! My neighbors complained constantly about Advanced missing their garbage, sometimes for weeks in a row. I didn't have a single issue and was with them since they took over for Monroe's. Once I moved to Howell the issues started. They didn't transfer my service properly and had to charge me again to start service, making me wait weeks for a check. They missed pickup for 3 straight weeks at my new address. Calling them every day, trying to be patient, they promised they would be there to fix it and never came. I couldn't take the build up of garbage anymore and cancelled their service. I called to have a couch picked up and they charged me $80 on the day I called. They told me to make sure my couch was out to the curb by 6am on Friday which it was. They did not pick it up when I called they said they would be there on Saturday again they did not pick it up. I called again and asked to speak to a manager - manager never called. I called again on Monday they said it would be picked up on Tuesday again it was not picked up. I called again on Wednesday and told them I want a refund- they told me it will take up to 6 weeks to get a refund even though they charged me on the same day that I called. My advice never use this company! They are unresponsive to their customers and their managers do not care since it has been now 3 days and I have still not heard from a manager! read more

Advance disposal missed part of my pick up, they did not empty the large gray 55 gal trash can. I place my trash out the night before so I don't have to worry about in the morning,I called and left them a message the afternoon of my pick up that they did not empty the trash can. I did get a call back, after providing them with the needed information, I was informed that they would pick it up later that day. Still no pick up, I called back the next day, that person confirmed that there are notes in their system that my pick up was missed, they created another ticket for a pick up later that day, AGAIN, no pick up. I called back today and the lady I talked to saw all the notes in their system, she apologized that no pick had yet occurred. TERRIBLE COMPANY, THEY DO NOT DO AS THEY TELL YOU. Awful service missed our pickup on many occasions. When we called promised to come out never happened. After 2 months of this cancelled our service. For the next 3 weeks they tried to pick our trash up. On top of this they tried to bill us too. Today (2 months after cancellation) received a robo call about collections for past due.. Terrible attitude by the office staff and managers. They just don't care about their customers. See below for additional information. Background: My family stayed on with this company when it bought out Monroes, a family-owned garbage pickup company. Monroes was always on-time, respectful of my property, and polite on the telephone. We used them for 20 years. Then, they were bought out by this company ....... Problems: 1. THEY DON"T FOLLOW THE STANDARD RULES They don't follow standard holiday rules of skipping a day if a federal holiday falls on a weekday. Sometimes, they show up on the holiday. Sometimes, they double up the route on the holiday itself or on the following day. The office staff cannot seem to come up with a consistent policy when called. 2. THEY LIE I position my Roughneck Rubbermaid wheeled garbage cans as neatly as possible near the curb with their lids on to protect rodents from getting into the trash. The other day, some workers at my home observed one of the trash pickup employees throwing my trash cans along the ground and throwing one of my trash can lids into the crusher before driving away. When I called to ask for reimbursement for a replacement trash can (because it is useless without the lid and these things are quite expensive), I was told, "They are not responsible for damage to a customer's personal property". I advised them that they certainly were. The female employee placed me on hold, came back, and said the best that she could do would be to provide me with one of their cans with an attached lid. She acted as if I should have had their cans in the first place. Note: When they bought out Monroes, I was never OFFERED any of THEIR cans. She stated that they would drop off a can to me on Monday, so I could have it during the week to fill up for our Friday pickup. No can was ever dropped off. 3. PICKUP TIMES ARE NOT CONSISTENT Our trash pickup time was 1st thing in the morning for over a decade. Now, it seems to come at a variety of different times. 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m. or 7 a.m. You just never know, so you can't prepare. Stopped picking up yard waste in my area for "lack of participation" without giving notice to anyone. Do yourself a favor and do not hire them. Advanced Disposal has failed me for the last time. After a long history of missed weekly pickups, or wrong day pickups we have had enough. We made three different calls this week to get trash picked up after yet another missed routine pick up on their part. We were told something different with each call which really doesn't matter because nothing we were told ever actually happened anyhow. When I informed them I was cancelling service they indicated we owed them for "services provided" for the month of January...they provided no services as they missed their routine day and then never came out after our repeated requests for service. The individuals we spoke with in customer service were typically friendly and nice, however, they only wasted our time by mis-informing us with each interaction. Never again! read more

Wish you could give less than one star. Absolutely terrible customer service and company. When we moved in there was already a can here and they dropped another one off without us requesting one. We didn't think much into it and just dealt with two cans for a while. Then it got kind of annoying and wasted space. My husband called and asked if they could pick it up. They said we would be charged a fee for them to pick it up so we said forget it. A few days go by and my husband called again to see if he could talk to a manger, this other person he spoke with said it wouldn't be a problem and they could pick it up no charge. Our pickup day we leave out both cans, one with garbage and one empty with a sign that says take this one and it separated from our other can. What do they do? TAKE BOTH CANS!!! So now we have no trash can...my husband calls they say they will have someone out the next day to drop it back off. It takes two more phone calls over the next WEEK for it to finally be dropped off the following pick up day. for a whole week we had nowhere to put our trash and multiple promises of the can being dropped off with no follow through. At this point we are so frustrated, but glad we have our can back and go on our merry way. So now I go to check our bill a few weeks ago and we have not one, but two pickup charges plus multiple service fees. I can't believe my eyes and am literally dumbfounded that we have charges for mistakes THEY made. So I call someone two weeks ago and she was actually super nice and said it would be taken care of, no problem. Fast forward to present day and what do you know? What a nightmare dealing with this poorly run company has been for me. I left another company that I was happy with and switched over to Advanced Disposal for the sole reason they offered recycling and the other company I was previously with did not. They instructed me to leave out my trash and recycling on the curb since they hadn't delivered my bins yet. This was two weeks ago Friday. Put my trash out Sunday night for Monday pickup- no pick up Monday. I call. Get the run around. They say they'll be here. Wake up Tuesday. Trash still on curb- call and waste my time again. Long story short it's not picked up til Wednesday evening and they just threw my recycling in with the trash. Then this week- IT HAPPENS AGAIN despite me calling Monday morning to make sure it wouldn't! Get the run around all day Tuesday and am promised a call back- never happens. Promised a missed pick up Wednesday - here we are 6pm Wednesday and what do you know- trash is STILL there. I feel furious with this company and upset my neighbors who have to look at trash3 days a week! Do NOT give this company a chance. Save yourself a headache! They don't care about their customers or their reviews. In a two month period they missed my pickup 3 times. On the 3rd miss I called to complain and they told me it would take 72 hours to find out why the pickup was missed. Who cares why it was missed, just pick it up. I had Smith for 20 years and perfectly happy. When they were bought out I got Advanced Disposal and all I did is seem to be on the phone with them i.e. missing pickup of either trash or recyclables or both or sending multiple bills which I bet many people pay as they expect their company to be honest. Then I had to get Waste Mgmt....awful as well. Happily I found Community Disposal who did a great job reasonable price for 6 months then they notified me they can't collect in Waterford anymore. Called the Twp. I think it has something to do with they don't want the little guys collecting anymore so I only have one choice now. We ended up with Advanced Disposal when they bought out the Disposal service we had. They then raised the price $20 and gave us less service. They are the worst Disposal company we ever had. Missing pick ups, so you call and they give you a day they will pick up and never show up. They will only take what can fit in the container, so if you have large broken down boxes stacked and tied, they will not pick them up. Before we moved we called and gave them the last date to pick up our garbage and to pick up the containers. They didn't pick up the garbage and the new home owners had to have their company remove it. When they didn't pick up the containers on the day they said they would, I called again and they told me they would pick them up a week later. I told them the new owners will throw them out. They said I would have to pay for them then hung up on me! read more

Our previous waste management had gone out of business and we moved to Advanced at the beginning of April 2019. Since we have been with them have have missed pickup 4 times. The first time I called and requested for it to be picked up and it was picked up two days later. The next two times I waited for my normal pick up day. Last week they didn't pick up again. I called the next day. I was left on hold for 10 minutes then to be hung up on. I called back and requested for my trashed to be picked up the next day. I was promised it would be picked up the next day. By 4 pm the next day it still hadn't been picked up. I called and they promised a truck would be out by 6 pm. They did not show up. I called at 8 pm to let them know something needed to be corrected via voicemail since no one was available to answer. I expected a refund since I did not received what had paid for and if they charged my card again I would report them for credit card fraud and to cancel my account. I received a call the following morning letting me know that they would be canceling my account and that they wouldn't refund me since the driver reported that he had picked up all weeks that we had service with them. Have not had very good service with Advanced Disposal for the last several months. Trash not picked up now 3 times in 4 weeks. Will not call back when msg is left. Mgr will not talk to me on the phone. Promise pick up twice in missed week but that never happened. They commented that they could see from truck camera that mine was missed. Said 'field supervisor' was going to insure it was picked up that day. Never happened that day nor the next. Trash from two weeks was then picked up on my next scheduled day. Maggots etc were all over the bags due to the 90 degree temps and not picked up for two weeks. Obviously going to look for another reliable company. read more

I would give zero or negative stars if Yelp would let me, we finally switched to a new company a few weeks ago, and I will never go back I don't care what I have to pay. This might be the worst customer service I have ever experienced, not just from a trash company, but from any service I have used. Here are some of the reasons I say that: - Over the past year, they missed our trash and recycling pick-up at least 6 times - every time we would call to inform/complain (and wait on hold for a long time), and they would give the same worthless answer, say they will address it, but it is never addressed - some times they came within 1 - 2 days to pick up, some times they never came and we had to wait until the next week - When I would ask to speak to a supervisor about the horrible service we were receiving, they would never connect me to one; they would also claim that the pick-up services were a 'different department' which is why I couldn't speak to them - They switched from every week to every-other-week recycling pick-up with almost no notice......keep in mind they didn't reduce the price, just cut the pick-ups in half, so we routinely had the bin overflowing with too much material - we called about this, and they said they would come out and swap out our recycling bin for a larger one, but that never happened (over 2 months of waiting and calling) - Because they wouldn't swap out the recycle bin as promised, we would end up with extra materials I had to put on top of the bin or in a clear bag next to the bin because it wouldn't fit - and then they left us a nasty-gram saying they could only pick up what is in the bin - They would never treat our property with any respect - would drive over markers we had along the edge, would throw our trash can around (the lid came off several times), there would be trash items that must have fallen out when they were picking up the cans but rather than pick it up they would leave it on the ground If you have your service with Advanced, leave them. If you're looking for service, pick anyone but Advanced. They clearly do not care or take any pride in doing a good job, and customer service seems like something they don't know about or just don't care about. read more

The customer service is absolutely horrible, no matter what they say expect it to be longer...accompanied with every excuse. Customer service...what customer service! I was literally transferred to an insurance company instead of the supervisor. The supervisor Doug S listened to my complaint and just stayed silent. There was no apology, just excuses. His supervisor was able to get my problem handle by the next morning, but still waiting on the follow up call from him or Doug as promised. Since we have had Advanced Disposal, I have had very few complaints but have never had to call them. This past week, I had an issue that required a phone call. I called both Thursday and Friday. Both times the representative I spoke with was incredibly rude. I asked for a call back from operations. They did not call back. However, they drove to my house and left a document in my mailbox highlighting their policies and procedures. I stayed with Advanced Disposal when they bought out Griffin Disposal about 5 years ago. I have had to call at least once a quarter for a missed pick up. They recently bought out Smith's Disposal. Many people on my street used Smith's. Their pick up day is Monday, mine was Tuesday, I figured they would change my pick up date to Monday. It was several months before they changed my pick up date to Monday, that was for last week December 3rd. My recycling got picked up but not the garbage. I called in and was told by a supervisor that my address was on the recycling route but not the garbage route. They would put in a missed pick up order. No one came so I called back and was advised that the order was never put in, so the lady I spoke with put in the order, gave me a work order number. Still no pick up. My garbage sat out there for a week!. So this week same thing, I watched the garbage truck pick up my neighbor's garbage and go past my house. I called in and was told that my garbage would be picked up by noon. At 12:45pm I called back and was advised they could not guarantee a pick up time. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Conveniently the supervisor was about to go on a conference call and would call me back. I am not holding my breath, I have not received a call back in the past. I will be going with a different company in January 2019. I just want my garbage picked up through December. I pay a year in advanced for the service. I am done with Advanced Disposal. We have a contract to come 3 times a week since we only have 2 small dumpsters for over 100 apartments and at least once a month they miss 1 and even sometimes 2 pickups a week!! I have made dozens of phone calls and every time I call..one of three things happens, i'm either told that "They will come that day" and then never show up, I'm told that a note has been sent to Operations and I will get a call back as soon as they receive an answer back and then I NEVER GET THAT CALL or they put you on hold for 15 minutes and then just hang up on you!!! ALSO...every time I call and file a complaint about them not showing...I am told that we will receive a "credit" for the missed pick ups and I have NEVER ONCE seen a credit on my bill or a deduction in cost ..when you ask about the credits, they say "we will have to look into that" and then you never hear back about it!! Finally...when they do finally decide to show up.. they only empty the dumpsters and leave.. they don't get out and pick up the trash bags around the dumpsters that were left there because the dumpster became full from them not coming for over a week!! THEY REFUSE TO EVEN PICK UP THEIR OWN MESS THAT THEY CREATED!! and on several occasions, dropped the empty dumpster right down on top of the bags of trash busting them open and pinning them to the ground before driving off!!! they don't close the door to the dumpster enclosures ever, you never get the opportunity to speak with a supervisor or the "Operations Dept." personally and every time you call expect to get a scripted generic with no real results! THIS COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS!!!!! SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND PAY A LITTLE MORE FOR A BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE COMPANY!! THE SOONER THIS COMPANY FOLDS UNDER THE BETTER!! P.S. I am in the same boat as everyone else . They bought up all the small good service companies here in Webster Township . Then they started raising rates and removing services like a yearly bulk item pickup or TV . They never come at the same times so I always put everything out a day ahead and expect them to be a day late . They say they recycle but often just dump the recycling can in with the trash truck I guess unable to staff that route . When they miss they tell you they will come sweep and get it but never do so you leave your can full out at the street making you vulnerable to break ins if you go away . Then they will say they will credit you at times after missing over and over but never do !!! One guy said they took his own can they did the same to my personal recycling bin throwing it in the trash truck . Right now its either them or WM who is definitely better at service but even more expensive . Wish we could have our smaller family run businesses back . Really if you have to do Waste Management and save yourself because eventually everyone finds out how Advanced Disposal is ..... you may be ok for a while but then they will do the same to you and show you that your account means nothing to them nor does the word service . They will accuse you of putting your trash out late , call you a liar , say its hidden by something and they couldn't see it anything without even coming out . They often communicate poorly . It is really sad I recognize some of the old employees when I call in and they have changed their manners and how they treat customers under this new management . I've been trying to cancel my account with these people since the middle of April (now May 12). They still haven't picked up their carts, and they just sent me a bill that includes a $55 "account suspension fee." No one in the Whitmore Lake office or their main office (Chicago??) talks to each other. My next step is reporting them to the State Attorney General's office. The company hates its customers. They pick up late frequently. They refuse to answer emails or respond to questions. There is no customer service at all. They raise their rates regularly. They play billing games, add fees to your bill, screw you regularly. The trash haulers have all gotten together to protect each others territory so there is no choice. You can't go to a competitor because there are none. They'll just sub-contract it back to Advanced Disposal. One day I will take my entire subdivision away from you Advanced Disposal. Agree with the previous posters in stating this company provides extremely poor customer service. The recycling and garbage services were changed to Advance Disposal at the beginning of this month. We were informed the recycling can would be smaller than the garbage can and recycling would be picked up only every other week (which really discourages recycling, makes me think Advance Disposal does not care about the environment). We requested an additional recycling can last week and was told it would be here this week and they requested an upfront delivery fee of $25 and $15 for the next three months; however with a phone call to Advance Disposal today for the status of the recycling can we were told the recycling can was on backorder for another two weeks (REALLY? We were NOT told this even though we had to pay immediately). Withholding information and being charged for a service we did not receive IS NOT OK! read more

I AM DONE - Advance Disposal servicing Chelsea area has the worse track record. After being a customer for at least 5 yrs....January year to date services have been DISMAL. Since Dec 18, 2018 until 1.29.19, they have missed picking up my trash 3 times. I have called and called and called, begging to speak to someone in operations management about their inability to pick up my trash yet they take my money. After talking to Customer Care reps, very pleasant and professional, they told me my service has been missed at least 5 times prior to the recent 3 times. Customer Care told someone would get back to me and yet, NO ONE EVER DID. I can only surmise that Advance Disposal doesn't value thier customers. So, last week when I called on 1.23.19, to inform them that they missed picking up my trash AGAIN, I was told that would be picked up by Friday. Alas, no...it was not picked up until Tuesday 1.29.19. I told Leslie this was the company's last chance to do right by me as a very dissatisfied customer. Your KUDOS page is a JOKE...you don't do it right the first time. You take my money but have missed picking up my trash at least 6 times. I am dumbfounded with such deplorable customer service. I have now converted to GLF just like the rest of my neighbors.
