The first time, my check engine light was on so I stopped in and an employee hooked my car up to a machine that told me what the problem was. The second time, I needed a new battery. They tested my battery and it indeed was bad, so I bought a new one and they installed it. Super easy access and convenient location. There is lots of parking. The store is organized and clean. AND most importantly they are honest and nice. If you need any car parts stop in an check them out. They can also add you to their email list where you get coupons.

    What would it take for a person living in Ann Arbor to drive all the way up to Whitmore Lake for…read moretheir car service? A 20 minute drive for most Arborites...for me 17 minutes. Straight up M23 or the scenic route, Whitmore Lake Road. My Prius had a headlamp that wasn't behaving and also a parking light that needed replacing, which I didn't discover until they pointed it out. I chatted over the phone with Brandon about the cost of a new headlamp as my local shop, a 22 minute drive on the SE side of Ann Arbor, seems to have closed it's doors. Kris greeted me as I pulled up with my car and said Brandon had mentioned me the other day. Brandon looked over my Prius' eyeballs while Kris offered me coffee and we chatted inside. Nice, clean, large waiting room with lots of tables and chairs if you just want to bring your laptop or iPad to work or play. I'm guessing they have WiFi but didn't ask because Kris and I were talking too much. When Brandon was finished, he let us know that the tilted (who knew) headlamp was straightened and he put in a new parking light. They sent me on my way without a charge for the part or service. Although this quick job was done right outside, my peek inside the service area told me that it was a clean organized operation. Thanks you State Street Auto. Perhaps you should consider adding a picture on Yelp of the waiting area and confirm if you have WiFi for the customers. You might not mind waiting for service completion if it's longer than the ten minutes when the waiting area is so nice. I didn't know I was going to find another shop so soon after my old one pandemically passed away. Bernadette recommends!

    A frustrating experience. My daughter's Subaru Impreza had a bad front differential with front…read morewheels skipping on turns. Another shop replaced both front axles and U joints, though only one was bad. A very nice service manager, John Turnbull told me they could take the transmission apart and check the front differential in the manual transmission assembly. My daughter drove 1 hour to their shop, had to rent a car, etc. I then was told the right front axle (one U joint-inner or outer not specified) was bad. After a 3 way call with my original shop, and learning that State Street now could NOT take the transmission apart, we had to tow it back to her hometown. The original shop again replaced the R front axle, but the problem persisted due to the bad front differential. We had to expensively replace the the differential/transmission-original shop credited us for all axle labor. My complaint is 3 fold: 1-I was led to believe they could work on the actual front differential after their diagnosis confirmation 2-misdiagnosis of U joint malfunction when I specifically stated most likely front differential problem with 2 new front axles 3-Free diagnostic checkup error prone suggesting services too soon, and services clearly performed in service book left on front seat. I had requested refund for their inaccurate diagnosis work June 15 and John said he would look into request. I recalled June 18, he said he had not finished but would let me know June 19th. No call back by closing and no answer at shop.
