Over the past few weeks, I have been looking a new pair of eye glasses. Every time I'm out walking with my girlfriend and see an eye glasses store I'm interested in, I drag her in to look for a possible pair. We were walking down 7th Ave a Sunday afternoon and happened to pass Advanced Eyecare, so of course I went in for a quick glance about. From the beginning, Isaac (the store owner) was friendly and helpful. He asked for the style I liked and right away was pulling out multiple pairs for me to try on, even giving feedback on what he thought looked good and what didn't. I tend towards unique styles, like some classic '80s aviators or funky looking horn-rimmed glasses, and Isaac was able to find a Prada pair that matched my style perfectly. Prior to visiting Advanced Eyecare, I had found another pair I liked at a different store, but was quoted around $750 for frames and lenses. At Advanced, I ended up paying around $450 for the pair and glasses after everything was said and done, which is a hell of a lot better pricing for probably a better pair of glasses. Isaac also offers a great deal on insurance where you can pay an extra $25 for 50% off another pair if anything happens to the pair you purchase. After I purchased the glasses, Isaac let me know that they would be ready for pickup the afternoon or evening of the next day. Sure enough, I got a call just after noon or so the next day from him letting me know the glasses were ready. He was quick, easy, professional and friendly, so it was really a fantastic experience. I even received a call from him a few days ago (about a week after picking up my glasses) checking in to see how I liked the glasses and if everything was good with them. I had been looking to get a new pair of glasses for about a year, and had been checking out different optical stores. I was walking along 7th Ave and came across Advanced Eyecare and loved the display of unique eyewear that was in the window, but the store was closed at the time, but I knew I had to come back. I did return and the owner Izack was very helpful in helping me choose a frame that was best suited for me, and was honest in his opinion about what looked good or didn't look good on me. He had a nice array of named brand and unique frames at competitive prices. I wasn't ready to purcase any glasses at the time, but Izack told me to come back anytime when I was ready. I did go back and I picked out the frames I wanted and also did an eye exam. The best part of all, is that he works on the glasses on sight and you can get your glass within a day or two! Unlike most optical stores that take weeks. Izack was very nice and professional, will work with you and may provide you with a discount, and they do accept Flexiable spending. He didn't charge me for th eye exam, which was great! I purchased a new pair of Celine glasses and was able to pick them up in 2 days, and I love them and have been receiving a lot of compliments! Izack even called me a few days later to see how I was making out with my new glasses, and said that if I have any minor problems with them to come in and he will fix it. I came to Izick and his nice optometrist through a Groupon deal. Although I have insurance, the vision plan is pointless and this seemed like a great way to get the contact lens exam and new supply that I needed... while possibly considering getting frames as well. Truth be told I HATE glasses and have the worst time figuring out what would be ideal for my face. I went in thinking I'll just go basic and go home. However, my husband was pretty insistent that I get something more modern that fit my personality. Hmmm:/ Thank you to Izick for being that bridge between my fear/hatred/anxiety in picking frames and yet trying to step out of my comfort zone. He did a great job picking frames and explaining why they did or did not work for my face. He also was very transparent about the price. All frames have a the price tag written on the lens. For someone who wears her glasses one a week at night only--I don't want to spend a small fortune on frames. He also said he'd always be willing to re-shape them or fix them if something occurs in their future, which I really thought was a nice gesture. You don't see that kind of commitment to customers often enough. As someone who came through a Groupon and was treated like a life-long customer it made me feel truly welcome. Izick's father was in the process of opening a shoe repair store down the block, so needless to say--my boots will be frequenting his place too. ;) read more

I walked past Advanced Eyecare for about a year eyeing a fabulous and bold pair of Sabine B glasses that were in the window (the entire window is eye candy for eyewear connoisseurs). When I finally had the nerve to go in and try them on, they were already sold. :-( However, when I inquired about them, Izick said he could order them direct from France and said even if they didn't work out, he would be able to resell them. When they finally came in, I went back to try them on and I couldn't decide between a couple pairs as I had found a few others I had also liked. Izick was super patient and helped other customers while I hemmed and hawed and finally went with the original pair I saw in the window, thanks to another customer whose daughter had the same pair, what luck. They were definitely not cheap (this is no Warby Parker....but you get what you pay for and Warby Parker lenses are the absolute worst!), but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them, worth every penny, and I would definitely go back and buy more from him in the future. He carries amazing, fun and unique glasses and the quality of his lenses are absolutely amazing! I had a very good experience working with the people at Advanced Eyecare. I have two pairs of glasses, one for computer work and the other for regular everyday use when I'm not at work. The frames broke on my everyday glasses, which have pretty expensive lenses: they are progressive lenses, and have the "Transitions" coating so that they darken when I am in sunlight. After having visited two other optometrists and coming up with no good solution (I wanted to see about fitting my old lenses in a new frame), the folks at Advanced Eyecare came up with a creative way to use my old, expensive lenses (in my other frame, identical make and model) and get me a new pair of glasses for my work-day vision needs. On top of this very good solution for my problem, Advanced Eyecare was able to get me a new pair of glasses on the same day. (For orders that come in before 1pm, I was told, they would be able to get them same day. Otherwise, it would have been available the next day.) Most other eyeglass places were quoting 6-8 business days MINIMUM for getting new glasses, but these folks were able to get me replacements very quickly. Where do I begin?! , The first thing that caught my attention about this business was their very stylish fashionable eyewear in their window display, in fact, everything about this business was excellent. If I were able to leave more than five stars here I would do so, the owner "Izick " was super professional and very honest, He was able to help me not only find the perfect pair of glasses for the shape of my face and etc. I also mentioned to him that I was having some trouble seeing, He and the doctor worked very hard to corrected my previous prescription and recommended the best things to help me see better ( keep in mind I have a very high prescription and was worried about the outcome of my new glasses, however Izick suggested I camouflage the lens and needless to say they came out beautifully, I also ended up purchased a pair of glasses for my daughter as well, again Thank you so much for all your help Izick, but most importantly thanks for your honesty, I appreciated your excellent service and I will definitely be back soon ! I walked by this shop a million times, but never went in. One evening after my run in Prospect Park, I decided to take a closer look. I had recently lost a pair of glasses (left them in a rental car... ugh), so I was curious what this shop might have. Within 2 minutes, Izick showed me 5 pairs of frames that I absolutely loved. His selection is unique and hand-picked. But I was worried it was going to be expensive. It was not. In fact, even with progressive lenses, he was less than the other shops in the neighborhood. So I bought new frames and lenses. Then I bought custom-made clip-on sunglasses for my wife's glasses. Then I had Isick do tinted lenses for another pair for me. And I could NOT be happier. Izick really gets customer service--his only concern was that I was happy--and he went out of his way to make sure every detail was covered. I can't say enough good things about this shop. I needed new contacts and glasses and Advanced Eyecare was nearby and could fit me in so I decided to take a chance. I had gone to other opticians in the neighborhood and some were fine but farther away and others were closer but I just had a bad experience with them. Izack and Dr. Blankman are great. Both take their time and provide great service and helpful advice. I really appreciated the time and advice Izack spent with me in helping me find the perfect frames that I wanted (never felt like he was pushing me to anything in particular or judging my taste) and his honest opinion. Tip: this is what he does for a living and he's good at it, you should probably listen to his advice. Also, he has a great selection of frames to choose from. I held off on writing this review until I received the actual glasses and contacts. Both turned out great :) Couldn't be happier with the results. I randomly came across Advanced Eyecare just before the Christmas holidays when I parked my car in front of the place to take care of business across the street. In the window was these really funky pair of glasses so I thought I go in and inquire about it since I was in the market for a new pair of spectacles. Best decision I made that day. Izick the owner, was not only very welcoming and personable but he was very knowledgeable. Told him I was leaving town in 5 days and he assured me that I'd have them before I left once I sent him my Rx that night. A few days later, I decided that since I was also in the market for a new supply of contact lens, why not give him the business. Another good decision. Izick had both my glasses and contacts ready for me the day before I left. A few days later he followed up with me to see how the glasses felt and if everything was OK. Advanced Eyecare totally saved my day on Saturday. When I put in my last pair of contacts, I realized that the right side had ripped. I called around to several local places that were unable to schedule me for an eye exam or they didn't have my prescription in stock. When I called Advanced Eyecare, I was easily accommodated with an appointment within half an hour and they had my current prescription in stock. The staff was courteous, friendly and thorough. The optician fitted me with a perfect pair of lenses and I was on my way within a reasonable amount of time. Best of all, the price of the examination and fitting was very fair. Additionally, I was offered a year long supply of contacts at a comparable rate to online sellers. I recently purchased glasses from Advanced Eyecare and I am very happy with the service as well as the workmanship and the selection available. Because I have a high prescription, I am extremely particular of the frames and how they look. I tend to go for more unique frames and Advanced Eyecare had a great selection of frames that I had not seen anywhere else. Izick helped me pick out the best frame for my face and was honest with what fit my face and would match my prescription. He thoroughly explained the options available to me (hi index lens, camoflage, UV tint, anti-glare, etc) and was in constant communication during the time my glasses were being built. My husband ended up getting two pairs of prescription glasses (one of which, he'll use as sunglasses) from Advanced Eyecare and we are all very happy. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I've been to a couple eyecare places in Park Slope, and to be honest, I think this place is hands-down the best. The selection is nice, the interior is simple and classy, but really it all comes down to one guy: Izack. Yes, I thought it was spelled Isaac, but I was wrong. Anyway, Izack is a very kind, efficient man, who treats his customers with integrity and respect. He is not "fast" or "pushy" like some other Eyecare places in Park Slope; he takes his time and lets you take yours. I ordered sunglasses there, and when I saw the tinting, it wasn't enough. Izack immediately sent them back to the factory to get them done the way I wanted. He didn't complain or hesitate; I was the customer and my happiness was paramount. Now that's service. Being of a perfectionist and rather critical nature I have never before submitted a review, be it on Yelp, Google, Amazon or whatever. But that was before I met Izick and Dr Blankman at Advanced Eyecare, and experienced a combination of professional and technical excellence, combined with a level of courteous and considerate customer service that I didn't think existed. Izick is not only technically competent and very knowledgeable, but is totally committed to providing customer satisfaction. His optometrist, Dr Blankman provided the most thorough and precise exam that I have had. And, at my request, they provided something I thought only existed in my fantasy, (i.e. specially designed "progressive" glasses just for the distance range required for reading and computer work). I absolutely love my new Seraphin glasses! Even more than the glasses (progressive, non-reflective, transition lens!), is the experience I enjoyed as a customer. The proprietor, Izick, was attentive to my needs each of the three times I visited his lovely shop. I am careful to make decisions and he was patient and never pushy. Once I made my decision, my glasses were ready the NEXT day. That's right--the very next day, as promised. He has a lab onsite and that makes all the difference in the world for these complex lenses. After picking up my glasses, and wearing them for a few days, I returned for an adjustment on the arms (what sits over my ears) and Izick welcomed me back and made the adjustments quickly and perfectly. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Izick. I was up from Virginia during Thanksgiving and walked in to look at their frames. From the time I entered the door, Izick listened to my needs and showed me frames. I note this because this kind of customer service doesn't exist anymore. I got the quote and left to compare other companies. I did not get this kind (or any) professionalism and customer service anywhere else. I then returned and ordered my glasses. I'm so glad I did. Not only was Izick so helpful, he performed various measurements to make my glasses correctly. I received my glasses via the mail, tried them on, and I cannot believe the difference. I came in because my dog had chewed my only pair of glasses and was desperate for new pair. I have dry eye syndrome and it makes wearing contacts for extended periods very uncomfortable. I picked Advanced Eyecare because I wanted to give the new kid on the block a try. It was the easiest, most painless experience ever! Isaac gave me a warm welcome and you can definitely tell he's very knowledgeable. He seemed genuine in his concern and was extremely helpful. He helped me pick out a new pair of Tom Ford eyeglasses and even my first pair of prescription sunglasses. He explained to anti-reflective coatings and polarized lenses in such detail that I have been teaching my friends about them! I had my eyeglasses the next day and my sunglasses a few days later. there are quite a few eyeglass stores on 7th ave. we spent a lot of money up the street for my daughter's glasses. after they were eaten by our dog, we went shopping again and found Isaac's store. Isaac was super helpful. Took one look at our daughter and picked out 3 frames that fit her head perfectly. she found a winner. cheaper than the last pair. we were in and out. Iasaac is a real pro. we picked up the glasses a few days later. oh and thankfully we got the insurance... a week later our dog ate her new pair of glasses! thanks to the insurance, we saved a bunch more money on the next pair. My husband just picked up his new eyeglasses from Advanced Eyecare and has never been so happy. It turned out he was wearing the wrong prescription for the last 3 years. He received a very professional eye exam right in the shop. He never wanted to wear his glasses while driving from the day he got them. When he put the new ones on, all he could say was "Wow". Wore them right out of the store, no adjustment period or anything like that which is often the case with Progressive lenses. My wife had gone to Advanced Eyecare several times and was very happy with her glasses and the personal service that Izick provided. For years, I had been going to large chains for my eyeglasses, taking advantage of promotions, but was never really satisfied with their selections, nor with the service provided by their staff.
