I've been coming to this location for a few years now and I guess it all started more than a decade ago when I needed to update the information on my drivers license. They've changed management a few times since then but its always been an eye doctor and place to purchase glasses so I stuck with them when I began to get more regular checkups. The office staff is friendly enough and process everything carefully according to my observation. I've seen other Yelps note that they are unprofessional here and I've not encountered that yet since the regular visits began for me some two plus years ago. They aren't there to chat you up and instead get your appointment in and attend to other patients. The examination equipment is very thorough and modern. I think I sat at 6 different machines that got a particular test or scan done before I would sit and talk to the doctor who would look at that information and me once again. I felt that all of the doctors were very good at patient handling. When it came time to finally need glasses, some 2 years ago now for near sightedness, I was hesitant since I never wore them before and they helped me find a pair that fit me well and that I liked the look of. I didn't go into this aspect of my life all that willingly but hey you stare at a computer doing tech work and web journalism, you are bound to need them eventually. There is free WiFi on site and they take most insurance which I guess is the most important factor. That's all I have on this one. read more

He patiently conveyed his considerable expertise in language I could understand. Then, Nairobi helped me select glasses that will help me see more clearly. I love the frames she recommended. With Nairobi's help, I selected two new pairs of glasses, including sunglasses. I can't wait to wear them and get reactions from family and friends. I had a 3:00 apt and did not even get checked in until 45 mins later. after asking how long a wait it will be, voicing that I had other appointments, both counter people begun to have an attitude about how they could not process my insurance, which is basically there only job. After an hour I was seen by the practitioner. then 30 minutes late i get my prescription. The doctor is very nice, not worth the service, the wait, or anyones time. read more

I was here for an eye exam and eye glass prescription in the beginning of 2018. I was examined by a female optician that was very nice and competent. I was not aware that they no longer accept my insurance (VSP) and was duped into purchasing new glasses for both me and my wife. After confirming with my insurance, I found out that I was charged out-of-network pricing for my eye exams and lens. After spending $1,400 on glasses and lenses for family from abroad, the office staff refused to release the medical records to the patient. My uncle had very abnormal findings on eye exam and was told to have close follow up. They refused to give him a copy of the records, even though we explained to them that he lives in Europe. 2/18/16 update: Spoke with Ms. Sofiya regarding the bill and she said that it was an error and would take care of it. New management seems to be responding well to customer complaints. I really hope this can be taken care of. Would really rather not have my credit affected by something like this. 2/16/16 update: This place is a scam even under the new management. They actually called me about my previous bad review. To "make it up" they offered to give me a free contacts eye exam and said I would only have to pay for the contacts. So I agree to return there since I did indeed need a contacts exam. Now, months later I receive a bill for the eye exam after they tried to charge it to my insurance and were declined. I plan to call them and contest this bill. DO NOT GO HERE The employees are bullying salesman and try their best to rip you off and swindle you even if they take your insurance. They are also slow and don't take you at your appointment time. Also, if you want a copy of your rx they won't give you the full rx in order to prevent you from getting glasses made at another establishment. The only reason I went here was because they took my insurance but I definitely won't be back. They also initially lied to me, telling me my insurance only covers glasses. I find out later that I could've gotten contacts which is what I wear majority of the time. And now I can't use my insurance again for another two years. read more

Just got off the phone and told them I would be writing this review. Went in almost three weeks ago. Aside from the comedy of errors not being able to look up insurance until I got my partner's insurance, this has been an epic story of horrible customer service. At appointment: desk woman, while appearing nice, tries to get me to get glasses. I say, not today. Now, you have no idea what people are dealing with-when I say, I would like to go and not today, DO NOT keep pushing. They are GLASSES. I have glasses. I wear contacts. Me not getting glasses TODAY won't kill me. So the pushing? No. 'You'll get your contacts in 7-10 days.' Two weeks pass. I call, thinking maybe they came in and no one called. 'Not here yet.' I then ask about when they are coming because I'm moving out of state. 'End of the week.' I ask about a refund. No mention that they don't give refunds. Now, we are going on THREE weeks. I call today. 'Not here yet, they are back ordered. Next week.' AND finally an offer for trial lenses. Oh well thank you for this pittance! Also, I'm allowed store credit if I want to cancel the order. Yay! No call, no sorry we didn't call. Customer service doesn't mean you have to chase down the store that you spend $400 at that KNOWS what's happening....ugh don't go here. A strip mall optical center is better than this bs. read more

I HATE coming here, i am a minor so my dad makes me go but I'm moving & leaving a review. Glasses are cheap & seriously overpriced. Everyone at the counter is rude & condescending. I told them I had ocd so I was uncomfortable trying on glasses & the lady with the grey hair was offended for some reason & was whispering to her coworker about me & then proceeded to tell me how they clean their glasses & how I shouldn't worry. If you're basically going to be working in the medical field why don't you educate yourselves on mental illness because I could care less about how you clean your glasses, I have anxiety attacks when I come into contact with things I feel are dirty & I would have to clean everything myself to feel comfortable. Anyways, I got glasses here & they were $800 AFTER insurance. Literally a week later the temple/side of my glasses BROKE. I am proud to say I never have to go back here again. On top of everything, I've been here about 3 times & they always mess up my prescription. If you have "state of the art" technology then get it right the first time. As I can see in the other reviews people also think the workers are rude, especially the one with the grey hair so she needs to either get trained again or work in the back. read more

I did not know that Dr. Ganz sold the practice. And I did not check the Yelp reviews before I made appointments for my two kids (because I only had good experiences here). We had appointments at 1:00pm. I was told when I walked in that they were running a little behind---It was Veteran's Day and a lot of people made appointments. Little did I know that we'd be there till almost 4:00 pm, hence the 4 star instead of 5 star rating. While we were waiting, I happened to check the Yelp reviews and I was like OH CRAP. Half the reviews said DO NOT GO HERE. I was nervous...but really, except for the exceptionally long wait, we had a pretty good experience! First off, everyone that works there was very nice. From the receptionist to the young ladies who run the pre-testing, to the optometrist, to the eye glass fitter.....very nice. The Optometrist was very sweet and very good with my kids. Especially my little one who needed glasses and wouldn't stop crying. She comforted him, hugged him and gave him a little kiss and made him feel better. Steve, who helped my son pick out his glasses was a big life saver. He kept giving my sons candy while we were waiting to keep them quiet (because boy, were they complaining about the wait...and I was going to lose my mind). Also, again, my little one didn't want glasses and he got him to look at some and pick two out. Yes, the glasses are expensive....but not any more expensive than any other eye glass place I've ever been to. I usually walk out spending AT LEAST $400 wherever I go, so none of the prices were shocking here. I have Davis vision, and they did have a decent selection, but nothing that I liked. The first pair of glasses we got were expensive when the smoke cleared, I will admit, but he gave me a GREAT deal on a second pair, so it evened out the price. I left very happy. One pair of the glasses I got in 2 days and the other pair were done the following week. Not bad. All in all, I definitely would return. read more

Had eye care emergency , my girlfriends glasses got stolen and she needed a emergency replacement , came into their office everybody was very friendly purchased 2 pairs of reading glasses after a very professional eye exam from a doctor Awad and received the pair of glasses 3 later exactly as ordered. Would recommend them again and again for anybody that wants good service at a reasonable price.. Very nice looking office and modern testing equipment. I very rarely write a review, but when you have such a wonderful experience, you want to share it with other people who may be seeking a new eye doctor. I have chronic dry eyes. I went to see FOUR optometrists. I was prescribed very expensive eye drops, that did nothing but break my bank account. I went to this location for a routine eye exam and what I experienced was anything but routine. The eye exam was thorough. The machinery was top of the line, the Dr. looked at everything. When I told Dr. Belfor about my dry eyes she asked me "have you ever tried punctal plugs?". My answer was no. I had no idea what they were.....she put in a trial pair, pain free, took only a few minutes. The trial pair lasted two weeks. I came back and she put in a three month pair, same experience, simple, pain free. Today I went in for my next pair and I was overflowing with gratitude for her service. I was using eye drops several times a day and I was still struggling. Thera tears, fish oil pills, something that began with a z and cost 400 dollars etc. None of them provided a fraction of the relief these plugs provide. It is covered by my health insurance, is super easy and it has provided me with life changing relief. If you wake up with eyes that are so dry from allergies or old age and you are suffering you must go here and give them a try. If I had to pick one negative, the wait can be a little long at times.....but, it's because the doctor is being thorough and when it's your turn, you will understand why you waited and why the wait is well worth it! I know it sounds crazy, but this place changed my life. I was so uncomfortable, my eyes were always red and irritated.....and now, I don't even need eye drops ( even otc eye drops are costly!). If you wear contacts the first time she puts the plugs in, it might feel like the first time you put lens' in....a little weird, but not painful. If you have ever had a make up artist put on fake lashes....it's about the same level. It takes less than five minutes, every three months.... so worth it! Highly recommend. read more

Very rude staff, esp the lady who sales the eyeglasses! I had an eye check on 12/05/2018 at 3:00pm. I am a health care professional myself. The staff treated me very rudely. They literally tried to force me buy a progressive from them. They initially tried not to give the prescription. They eventually gave me it after I threatened to sue them if they don't. I have the right to buy my eyeglass from anywhere, it was unfair and unethical to force me buy theirs. Bad experience! read more

I had my first appointment scheduled for today. Upon arrival 5 mins early, there were 2 people waiting to be seen. I asked if there was going to be a wait and was told by the receptionist that there were 2 "walk-ins" ahead of me. The wait would be 30-50 mins. I complained, a woman came out from the back (presumably the Dr. - no name tag or introduction). She said she would be with me in 5 mins. After waiting another 20 mins, I left. My husband just had the exact same experience as Matt A's wife. They no longer in fact accept Davis although they claimed that they did and even made up a lie regarding Obamacare! I had my first eye appointment and doctor Stan was very helpfully, caring doctor, offer me to put punctual plugs for my dry eyes. And wow what's a difference. Let me preface this by saying I decided to try them since I had used them when I was a teen (when glasses weren't so fancy) and they were on my insurance plan while another eye glass center that I like is not. Dr. Ganz is indeed very nice however a little bit distracted, plus I felt I was being pushed to buy glasses when I also wanted contacts. I had to remind him to give me a prescription for contacts which I should not have bought from them since they cost twice as much as the same pair online from a reputable source. Well the contacts came in the same prescription I had before and they are making it hard for me to read the computer - which I do not have a problem with while wearing my glasses or my previous set of contacts. I am not happy about that. Also when I went to look at frames I felt the assistant was rather bored and not enthusiastic about finding me a pair of frames that would suit my face, i.e. similar to the ones I wear. Yes I am picky because I wear my glasses most of the time, I do not want a pair that looks odd on me and they need to fit, not pinch my temples or my nose. I don't think he really has the knack of picking frames to suit people. I'll give them credit that I'm not easy to fit and at least he pulled out a bunch of frames. All in all nice people and other customers seemed happy but I did not buy frames from them because nothing was suitable and after this issue with my contacts I don't have faith that they will produce a quality set of glasses for me either. I am going to another center. Also I didn't realize I could take the prescription elsewhere, they are required to give it by law so that's something to think about although in my case I will get another exam to verify my prescription and go from there. read more

Giving it only a three star rating may seem odd with all of the nice things mentioned about this establishment but pricing is off the charts. Some may say, you get what you pay for, especially if it's a cheaper pair of glasses but folks, we're talking glasses. More than a dozen of my spectical wearing cohorts have all expressed dismay and laughter, on my part, for spending sooo much money on something that could have been purchased at CostCo, for instance, at 1/5th the price...Yes, 1/5th. Granted, all the nice things I said about the business is all true but, wow, the price threw me...and it was already too late for me to refuse the glasses. This place is great!! All the staff are friendly and upbeat (including Zippers who would run up to everyone as they walked in), they never make you feel rushed or make you feel like you're wasting their time. Dr. Ganz was wonderful -- he was very personable and not stiff like some other doctors tend to be. There were people stopping in for basic things (like scratched lenses, pick out frames, etc.) and both the doctor AND staff treated each person like an old friend, not just a customer. That I thought was really nice. And, of course, the actual eye care is amazing. I don't know if it's just this place, or because I haven't had my eyes checked in 3 years, but the technology he uses is amazing. No more puff of air to the eyeball to check for glaucoma!!
