Dr. Turcios and his staff are great. I got my new glasses last week. It seemed the prescription was a little off and I needed to adjust the progressive. Also, I decided that I really did not like the new frames. I stopped by to tell the front desk and they made me an appointment for the next day. Dr. Turcios adjusted the prescription and one of the ladies helped me pick better frames. I wasn't sure of the color so she offered to order the other color available. I went in when they got to the office, decided which pair and now waiting for my new glasses. They are very helpful and patient. Dr. Turcios is very knowledgable and a nice guy too! Once again I am sooo happy that I yelped first! My pediatrician told me that my son needed glasses and recommended a pediatric eye doctor. (In his defense the nurses who had my son read the eye test board charted the eye exam results wrong...it happens with little kids sometimes) Anyway, after making an appointment with the eye doctor that was recommended I decided to read her reviews on Yelp and yikes! She did not empress most her patients so of course I searched for another doctor on Yelp. I found Dr. Turcios in Pleasant hill, I live about 40 minutes away but the reviews were enough to have me make my appointment with him. I am very glad that I did, not only was Dr. Turcios very kind and fun, but he told me that my sons vision was fine and he didn't need glasses! Wow...how amazing is that he cared about my son more than trying to sell us glasses we didn't need. My son is in kindergarten and loved the experience and this doctor. My long time Optometrist was retiring and doing business at Advanced Optometry part time. To get in sooner I made an appt with the Turcios. Nice guy. Upon receiving my glasses and wearing them the first day I found that they did not work for me. I've had glasses in the past and never had any problems adjusting to the new prescriptions. I went back asking for a full refund since my original Optometrist allowed me one once, I thought there wouldn't be a problem here. They suggested I try the glasses for longer period of time and to get re-tested. .I complied (jumped through their hoops) thinking and being led to believe I would get my refund if it didn't work out. So I had my had my original Optometrist test me. He got a different result. The original prescription was wrong. I asked for a full refund. It was then they said they don't give refunds. I have requested three times for a refund. I have not received a response. Note: Do not go here. The lab they use is mediocre. For quality glasses/lenses/etc., take your prescriptions to Pacific North Optical in Concord. read more

Let me star off by saying that I have never been to see an optometrist before so I didn't know what to expect and I was quite nervous. So what do you do in this situation.....you Yelp of course. I live in the area so I enjoy helping my local community when ever possible. After calling several places I felt more comfortable with ADVANCED EYE CARE OPTOMETRY. And boy was I glad I did. The staff was incredible led by a lady named Kira.the Dr's name is Dr. Robert Turcios. Seeing I was nervous he was able to put me at ease and explain every procedure evert step of the way to make feel comfortable and it worked. One of the best Dr's I've seen wonderful bed side manner and very understanding to each individual clients needs. After walking out to find glasses and take care of payment I found out his office is a family affair and it truly showed. The office closed at 5:30 and had no idea at all. As you know finding the right kind of glasses is difficult between finding a price that you can afford and finding the glasses that you like is difficult too. So it took me about an hour to find the pair for me. How ever the point to me telling you this is they close at 5:30 I never had any idea that this was there procedure and never once did they make me feel it either, they never rushed me and was only concerned about me finding the right pair for me.we didn't end till a little after 6. The staff consists of the Dr's wife.Janet ( the real boss) his daughter ellie. It was awesome everyone was helping me, giving honest feed back in which they thought what was best for me. It came down to 2 pairs and the price difference was huge $150 more. I felt everyone was being truely honest and to my surprise Kira aid she'd go with the less expensive ones. Man was I shocked. I was about to pony up the extra cash cause I really liked the expensive a lot better. I think she's on a little commission and she put needs before hers. That's rare today. Do yourself a favor if you need an eye exam and go see Kira to get honest fun that isn't fake. She won take advantage of you and will think of what's best for above all else all while using your insurance to try to save you the maximum amount of money possible. I really felt that warm honest true friendly family feeling at Advanced Eyecare Optometry. A feeling that you just don't get anymore when you go to a Dr's office today. So if your local in pleasant or close to Pleasant Hill do your self a favor and come to this hidden gem. You will experience a warm family run off run by a phenomenal optometrist Dr Robert Turcios and get some of the best attentive service you will ever recieved at Dr's office. Not only will you get your needs taken care of but you will also walk out of there feeling great and telling your friends and family you just found the best optometrist and share your positive experince.with all of them. I learned today that I have had the wrong prescription for contacts and glasses for YEARS! Dr. Turcios gave me the correct prescription and the difference is amazing! An optometrist prescribed a power that was too high years ago and then the others followed suit based off of the wrong prescription and did double check. I really appreciated how thorough he was and the fact that he caught this mistake! I can see leaves on trees again! The staff there was very nice over the phone and in person. My husband and I recently relocated to the Bay Area from Southern California. We both recently had eye exams at Advanced Eyecare Optometry in Pleasant Hill, and we had extremely positive experiences. In fact, we were discussing the fact that this is the most pleasant and professional optometry office that we've ever visited. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The optometry assistants were very knowledgeable during the process and helpful in the selection of frames that were well-suited to our needs and face shapes. (They have the best selection of frames that I have seen anywhere.) Dr. Turcios is a very experienced optometrist with a very friendly manner. He was very informative and responded to all of my questions patiently and completely. Additionally, both the optometry assistants and Dr. Turcios were very respectful of items covered by my insurance. The office environment is very pleasant, clean, and well-decorated. They also appear to have very state-of-the-art equipment. Another reason I really enjoyed going to this office was that the staff was so sweet to my almost three year old daughter. When my daughter and I accompanied my husband to pick out his frames, they even provided her with a coloring book and crayons. Those are the small details that really make a difference to me! Really cannot say enough about how excellent the service has been at Advanced Eyecare Optometry over the 14 years we have been getting our eyes examined there. Dr. Turcios is the best optometrist ever and his staff is so friendly, supportive and informative. For routine exams or emergency needs (as they accommodated us when my son was injured last year) they have always been there for us. Office equipment is state of the art and Dr. Turcios walks you through the exam with courtesy, respect and shares information throughout the process so that you have all the relevant details of your diagnosis or results. Staff has always been efficient and helpful but have to say a word about Ellie who answers the phone and greets patients as they arrive: she is awesome! She makes you feel that you are truly valued as a patient and you experience genuine caring before you have even met Dr. Turcios. I wouldn't bring my family anywhere else for eye care! read more

Very disappointing 1st time experience! I was running late, gave them a call to let them know and arrived exactly within the 15 minutes grace period I was given. After arrival, I was informed the doctor could no longer see me and offered alternative date of appointment. Customer service is not just meeting expectations but exceeding them!!! read more

I think his staff is great, but it is Dr. Turcios and the other eye doctor (I forgot her name), that shines! The routine exams are very thorough and the techs are very efficient. The equipment used is better than most. And Dr. Turcios discovered an eye condition that is genetic to my family history that my previous eye docs did not notice! Turned out my eyes are fine, but now he and I can be on the watch for this potentially critical area. I am 60 & my eyes are changing. I am confident that this doctor is looking out for me. Dr. Turcios is an expert but explains everything so I could understand. Been his patient for several years. Had to move to LA but so glad to have relocated back. He has a new convenient office on Civic Drive Pleasant Hill. ...Dr. Turcios does NOT deserve a "one star".. His old location across from In-in-Out has been torn down...that area was too hectic anyway. I am rating the service that the staff, not the doctors, gives. The doctors are very professional and knowledgable. The assistant that does the eye tests are fine. My problem is with the front desk staff. every time I go there, I kick myself. I swore i wouldn't go back but it was an emergency and i couldn't find my rx to go anywhere else. The last time i went and used my insurance allowance the staff failed to mention that if i didn't use all of my allowance at that time that I am forfeiting the unused amount (the reason i didn't use all of it was because i would have had to pay out of pocket for the difference above my allowance, 2 boxes are covered, 3 put me over). The employee at the counter said that insurance allowances can only be used once, even if you don't use all of it. that information would have been extremely helpful six months ago. They also charge a high and arbitrary rate for contact lense "fitting." Every place charges what they want (Walmart=$50, AEO=$95) and they don't tell you how much this charge is going to be, but they do have you sign a form saying that you will pay for the fitting. I should have inquired how much the charge was before signing, but i was tired and i figured it couldn't be THAT much, i was so wrong. I tried to fight it, one because i have been wearing contacts for 15 years and the fitting charge is really only necessary if you are new to contacts, secondly the charge was completely arbitrary and they deliberately don't state how much it's going to be. But they stood behind that damned signed form. The staff is not helpful at all. Go down the street to Site for Sore Eyes, they were helpful and nice. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Turcios for about six months now, and I need to say that I am always treated with the utmost patience and professionalism by the doctor! Patience is critical with me, because I am very difficult to fit for contact lenses, which I prefer to use over glasses. The doctor tried many different combinations and brands of lenses with me, until I was able to see with complete clarity again! The doctor's staff members have also been friendly and courteous to me at all times on my many visits to be tested and fitted. I came to Advanced Eyecare because of the excellent Yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. I finally found a new eye doctor today after trying several new ones over the last few years. Dr. Turcios is definitely a keeper! My son and I both had appointments and we both thought he was excellent (my son wear contacts and I wear glasses). Dr. Turcios is great, but the customer service is horrible. Upon walking in, you should encounter very rude receptionists, and unprofessional assistants that help fit your glasses. I've been here a few times and ran into trouble with them over simple things. They are very uninformative (like the other reviewer says), and don't tell you the price of the fitting until after you sign. It's unbelievably bad. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is due to Dr. Turcious being a good Optometrist. It's his staff that is inept. It took 4 months to get a pair of glasses from this place because of countless mistakes made by his staff. It took 4 trys, with numerous mistakes ordering from the lab, before I finally received the right lenses for my frame. I actually had to go somewhere else to buy another pair because I needed glasses. After everything was said and done, I had a small balance owing and I was told by the office manager, that because of all the trouble that I had gone thru, they would wave the balance. Well, guess what??! I get a call from a collection agency today asking for the money that they were suppose to have waved. Par for the course. It's a shame because Dr. Turcios is good. Otherwise I would have given this a one star rating. I went ahead and paid the balance and I'll just write it off as a bad exoerience. read more

Had my children seen by Dr. Turcios. He was wonderful, he was so patient with them and really explained everything he did. The staff was great, they explained everything that was going to be done and what the doctor suggested. The receptionist had all my insurance information about my deductibles and what was and wasn't covered. They were all so nice and professional. I will be back for me and my husband!! read more
