After several months of stomach pain, I went to my regular doctor and he referred me to this place…read more The doctor I saw (name intentionally omitted) was very good and took a long time to listen to my story and find out what I thought was going on. He has two different offices (one north in Clifton Park, and one south in Albany) and very early hours on certain days (like 7:30AM, which is perfect for me). We discussed various symptoms I had and in the end came to an agreement to start a new medication and see how things are going in a couple of weeks. He made me feel very comfortable during the entire process. Their sign-in procedure involves using tablets, which I suppose are better than paper forms. The place was easy to get to, and there was plenty of seating in the waiting room. I sometimes end my reviews with "I can't wait to go back" but that doesn't seem right for a specialized doctor's office! However, I do feel comfortable going back again for my follow-up.

Received a phone call around 9:30 stating they cancelled my appt 5/29 at 6am and they sent two text messages at 6am and I never received these. Mind you they have no problem taking my money . Received 3 messages by email and text at 8am to confirm my 12:30 appointment and my Copay is due . I asked the lady on the phone who said she was the manager which was clearly a lie to screenshot these messages where they texted me to cancel my appointment. "Manager" refused and said wasn't possible . Lady on the phone lied to me and I told her it's ridiculous to not even call or text someone when I had already arrived in Albany. "Manager said there was absolutely nothing they could do and it wasn't her problem. "Manager had the audacity to say to me you do realize your appointment is at 12:30 and I advised her several times i had already driven 3 hours away . She said she didn't care and this stuff happens . She refused to let me speak to her supervisor. And hung up on me . Then 30 minutes later they called back and said they had a cancellation for 1pm. I should of taken this as a sign and not even bothered to take the 1pm slot. They stuck me with a nurse practitioner who was incompetent and had zero knowledge of my diagnosis and lied about several questions we asked due to not knowing the answer. On top of that the room was dirty and hadn't been cleaned in years. Stains all over the wall. The pillow on the bed had mold and dirt all over it. It clearly hadn't been washed in years . If you like your health do not go to this facility. All they want to do is colonoscopy's and endoscopy. Can only imagine the equipment is just as dirty as the room.

I believe I was given too much anesthesia. I also believe I received very poor follow-up care from the practice. When the procedure was done, the practice called my partner, Donna, to come pick me up. Over the phone, the nurse told her that a polyp had been removed and cauterized. The nurse said I could resume all my usual medications that night. A little surprised, Donna asked if that included my blood thinner, Eliquis. The nurse hesitated but eventually said yes. When Donna arrived at the clinic, she called to let them know she was there. She waited in the parking lot for a little while and eventually a nurse brought me out in a wheelchair and said they couldn't get me to wake up. She also said they had revised instructions about my meds and I should hold the Eliquis until 11/1/23. They got me into the car and Donna brought me home. I don't remember any of this. Donna got me home and in bed around 4:30 PM. I finally woke up around 7:30 PM and asked what time it. I had no idea if it was that evening or the following morning until she clarified it for me. I got up, sat in our living room, had a glass of water, and promptly vomited all over myself. She got me cleaned up and back to bed. I was out for the night. The next morning, I got up at around my usual 7 AM. I went into the bathroom and almost immediately threw up again. I felt a lot of nausea and a headache. We waited for the practice to open and called in. Dr Chase called back and told me to go to my primary care physician. He wouldn't see me. This surprised me but I did it. Irongate Family Practice saw me that day and prescribed an anti-nausea medication. I did stop vomiting but the headache and nausea continued. On Sat. AM, 10/21, I called Dr Chase's office. He was the physician on call that day. He did call back but once again refused to see me and told me to go to my primary care. We went back and forth about this for a while. Irongate was also involved in the discussion. Dr Chase eventually said I should go to the ER; he wouldn't see me. I clearly wasn't going to get any help from him. Donna brought me to Glens Falls Hospital ER. The hospital treated my with IV fluids and some medication. They did full examinations to make sure there were no injuries in my abdomen. After about 4 hours, the nausea and headache ended and they released me with a prescription for anti-nausea meds. My stomach continued to be sensitive for a little while. I had diarrhea for a few days, then one day of extreme constipation which passed by late Wednesday, 10/25/23. No matter what my symptoms, I will NEVER have another procedure done at Gastroenterology Associates. I will NEVER recommend them to friends or family or strangers.

The dr then suggested an endoscopy and some other testing to be done. Supposedly everything came back normal and the doctor literally told him "well, i have no clue why ur dry heaving every morning and feeling sick to your stomach all the time. Only thing i can suggest is that since you have been living with it this long, i guess you can continue to just live with it". WHAT!!!? what kind of doctor says shit like that? Fast Forward to December 2017. Fiance went to primary physician with severe stomach pain. Primary suggested he go to Upstate Gastroenterology office. I explained the problem we had with that place 2 years ago. He then told us that Dr Sklaw no longer works at that location, and to see Dr Pronold. So primary doctors office made an appointment at gastro dr for the next day. Around 4pm (same day) we realized that his ultrasound results and blood work would not be back in time, so i called gastro office to cancel and reschedule for next week...well, when i called, all i got was a voice mail. ok, fine, so i left a detailed voicemail asking to cancel and reschedule the appointment and for someone to call me back. Well, i didnt hear anything from then, so at 9am (normal business hours) i called their office. It went to there answering service. I continued to call the office until they FINALY switched the phones from answering service to their stupid ass voicemail. Are you serious?! So, yet again, i left a msg asking for someone to call me back. 4pm The office FINALLY calls me back to say that "someone" cancelled hi appointment and rescheduled it for Dec 19. Umm, im the ONLY one who makes his appointments, so who exactly rescheduled? The nurse was like "idk, but it was rescheduled for him to see the nurse practitioner". I said "no, he needs to see the doctor, not the nurse practitioner". she then told me " the nurse practitioner can take down his information and then she can then talk with the doctor to see if any testing needs to be done" why not just cut out the middle man and let him see the friggin doctor? UGH. this place is so unprofessional, its not even funny. What a joke. Im just going to find a diff gastro dr for him to see, and this place can go to hell for al i care. idiots!
