The Lord unexpectedly blessed me yesterday through my audiologist's office. My hearing aids haven't been working well for a while and then about a week ago they were barely working at all. I made an appointment for yesterday morning at 8am. I needed new hearing aids and the average wait time is 7-10 days to receive. I happened to mention I was headed to College Station today and was dreading being so deaf I was going to miss out on so much conversation After my test was over, they said that if I was available, they could do a rush for me and be able to enjoy my weekend with my family. It was so unexpected, I broke into tears and thanked them profusely Just wanted to share what a blessing from the Lord this was. Our 94 year old mother has recently developed hearing problems. We were able to get an appointment quickly. The office staff was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped in the door. The office is very nice and we loved the decorations for Halloween. Dr Rudes was so careful with our Mom and patient. He explained everything he was going to do to assess her hearing and they worked with her to make sure he got a good test; even repeating a portion because it appeared she got confused. I took my 96 year old father to get hearing aids. I am his legal guardian, and have the power of attorney to deal with all his matters. They assured we could try them for 30 days and return if they did not work. Two weeks later indeed we needed to return them , they did not fit right. They sold us a pair of Oticon hearing aids for $9000, plus $800 copay. The billing manager said we had to be responsible for the insurance payments (about 12K claim with all the added super high service fees ). !!!The contract only mentions a $75 re-stocking fee for returns!!!! How is it that I am responsible for the insurance payments now? They claimed to the insurance only $900 for the value of the hearing aids, and the rest are their high service fees... What a fiasco! total crooks When I brought up all these issues they got very uncomfortable with my inquires about the actual value of these devices. Then the chief audiologist came from the back, she did not even ask me what the issue was, and started yelling at me right away saying "Give me the bag of hearing aids, I need to make sure they are the ones we gave you! Give me the bag! , give me the bag!" At this point I did not trust the honesty of this agressive yelling person to hand her the devices. She did not even want to identify herself, when I asked: "maam' who am I speaking with?". I also wanted to make sure they were not going to try to collect the insurance payments from me, as their billing manager clearly said!!! I left that office with my 96 year old dad. Poor thing at his age having to witness such scene. Even the police officer they called suggested that I take this issue to a civil court. The police officers were very impartial and thanks to their presence that lady stopped yelling at me. I am so glad this business has cameras that captured her tone and agressive behaviour. There is no way I will ever take my father to them again for maintenance of the devices or if they stop working. And now I am left with a set of hearing aids that keep falling off from his ears. We will have to take our loses I will not go to civil court as suggested by the officer, even-though I have all the documentation in hand. My peace of mind is worth a lot more. I am sure a Higher power will make justice. read more

They nickle and dime you for everything. Went in and had a hearing test, paid to have the hearing aids reprogrammed, paid for some dehumidificatuon, etc. Week later, the battery dies. Paid for a new battery. Then asked me to pay to have them reprogrammed again. Switched doctors, and now they want $25 to send the new doctor my medical records. Save yourself a lot of headaches and go somewhere else. read more

I've been going to Advanced Hearing & Balance for 2 years and have seen several doctors. There expertise is outstanding.

For the past 14 years I have been going to Advanced Hearing and Balance Center, and while I feel I have received good treatment from them during this time period, and even recommended them on various online forums, changes in the way that they do business are causing me to look for someone new. In the past I would visit them every 3 months, and they would check and clean my hearing aid, and advise me on whether or not I needed an upgrade. They would even give me free batteries. A few years ago, they began charging me for office visits (which I have no problem with), but other services would be extra: programming the hearing aids, labor on replacement parts, etc. These additional charges are not inexpensive, and can add up quickly. The most recent hearing aid I bought from them in 2021, was kind of problematic, and seemed to need frequent repairs. Parts were covered under warranty, but repair was not. In July 2023, my hearing aid had to be replaced (for the second time). It was still under warranty and was sent to the factory, and replaced with a brand new one. I paid for the programming ($100 per ear, $200 total, as well as my insurance co-pay, $20). A few weeks later, one of the ears was not functioning properly, so I returned, paid the copay, and they swapped out the defective part. At this time, my audiologist alerted me that my 3 year warranty would expire on November 23. A new one-year warranty would cost me $1500; $750 for each ear. On September 28, I had my annual hearing exam. I paid $20 for the co-pay, plus $90 for the exam. I was told that my hearing had decreased over the year, and that reprogramming them would cost $200 (remember, I had just paid to have them reprogrammed two months before). I wanted to think about it, figuring I was approaching the price of a new hearing aid to maintain my old one. We set an appointment for a cleaning on November 16, before what we understood to be the expiration of the warranty. When I arrived on November 16, I was told that the warranty on my hearing aids had expired, and that the charge for cleaning my hearing aids would be $70. I explained that I was told that my warranty would expire on November 23, and they did not charge me. I started to explore new audiologists. I found one that is covered by my insurance and met with him, but I did not feel comfortable. He met me in a business suite in Frisco, not a medical office, although he reportedly has one in Plano. He was happy to sell me a new hearing aid, but wouldn't service my existing one. Since my current hearing aid is still a "new one", I want to get at least 1 year out of it before considering another new one. I also explored offerings from other sources, and discovered that Advanced Hearing and Balance is extremely high priced. I can purchase a hearing warranty online for $640, less than one-half of the $1500 it would cost me at AHB. I can also purchase accessories cheaper, too. The TV Adapter, which requires no programming, is $350 at AHB, and $175 online. Also, other audiologists guarantee their programming for 3-6 months. AHB wouldn't guarantee it for 2., and this process takes all of 15 minutes At the end of the day, I feel I am being nickeled and dimed by AHB. So, here's my situation. I have severe hearing loss, so an over the counter hearing aid is not really an option, and I'm hesitant to go to Costco. I'm looking for an audiologist who will treat me as a patient, understand my concerns, and work with me to find solutions with what I have, rather than trying to simply sell me a new hearing aid. read more

I'm a musician and needed impressions for a new pair of custom molded in ear monitors. I've had them before and know the process. The technician "ran out" of bite blocks (which hold your mouth open because your ears change shape when you sing) and made a set of unusable impressions. They agreed to redo them, this time with the head audiologist at the practice. I provided a step by step guide from the company making my monitors, and she flat out refused to use a bite block. She didn't care to listen when I asked her to please follow the instructions, just going on about her 30 years of experience. Now I'm out $200 and still no useable impressions. Thanks read more

I spent more time filling out the office paperwork than they spent dealing with my ears/hearing. That was $75. They wanted an additional $280 to do an actual hearing test. Maybe look for a place that actually offers something with an office visit. And while I understand that the cost for their services are discussed at the time of scheduling with patients and patients do have a right to refuse to schedule with their clinic if they are not agreeable to the cost, I just would have assumed I would've received more than five beeps in each ear. ‍ read more

I started using advanced hearing and balanced about two years ago. My insurance at the time was great and they saddled me with a pair of Widex hearing aids and charge my insurance company for them( a mid 4 figure fee)I have always had them cleaned and serviced as they required and both of my hearing aids failed. I was under the impression they would be sent in and repaired under warranty and I would get them back working, when I returned to get my repaired hearing aids I was informed it was going to cost $210 to have the programming put back in them. I asked why when they're under warranty and they said because my insurance didn't pay for reprogramming. I wasn't informed about this cost when they sent them back for repair. I have been in the customer service industry my whole career and this is simple SLAMMING! Don't trust them and beware of ancillary fees. read more

Business moved to 5048, staff didn't bother to let me know in advance. I was referred to this office by my insurance company that had a set price for hearing aids. Refused to honor the set prices, charged for an office call that should have been no charge, and office staff was rude saying I came in as a private patient,not thru insurance. Make sure you make yourself clear when setting appointments if you're using insurance. Would not recommend this business. Spoke with another customer while waiting, and was equally dissatisfied with lack of professionalism. I'd give a minus 2 stars if I could. read more

I had an appointment the Morning of December 29th to have my hearing checked and without Suprise I failed my hearing test. I was seen by Dr. Bobo who was so awesome, she explained every step that was going to happen throughout the process of the test. It was very calming to know these things. She was extremely knowledgeable and treated me with such care. With only 1 business day left in the year to get my hearing aids on this year's insurance since I have already met my deductible and out of pocket, Advanced Hearing & Balance center was able to find time in their very packed schedule to have me back in the afternoon to have a hearing aid fitting and pick up my hearing aids. This is the most wonderful experience I have had from the call I made for the appointment to walking out with my hearing aids. Driving home yesterday I heard things I have not heard in a very long time. The staff is so wonderful and friendly, I really enjoyed being at the Doctors office for once. The customer service was phenomenal. Please think of them next time you need help with your ears, they know it all. These are the worst people to deal with! They are in business to sell their products, no patient skills, refuse to provide hearing records unless you pay them $25, an even refused to transfer hearing test results to another hearing center. The office manager manager was rude, and lied about charges I paid, claiming I should have paid more. To top things off, their office moved to another building without informing patients. I was speaking with another patient while I waited, and he was not impressed with the company either. BEWARE, especially if you have insurance! read more

When we arrived for my mom's appointment, we were told we were late. Turns out, there was a mix-up in the scheduling and mom's appointment got moved to 45 minutes earlier, but we were never told. The office staff worked very hard to fix things, and we ended up having a great experience! I agree with a couple of the more recent reviewers on here regarding billing practices. Patient beware! I have been going here for years but something has changed in the past couple - maybe they have gone corporate or have a new business partner - I don't know. My provider care has always been adequate but the lack of transparency in the billing process these days is atrocious and the billing department is so unprofessional that I will be looking elsewhere for care because the fights with the billing dept are just not worth it. My Insurance company disallowed a portion of my hearing aids as above the negotiated price with the provider and coded it as "patient not responsible" on my EOB. So then AHC billing department submitted a "revised" billing that moved the insurance disallowed portion from the medical code of Hearing Aids to that of Miscellaneous. So of course when my insurance company received the revised billing they said the billing for Miscellaneous was ineligible. I am in process of appealing now. This has been going on since March. Do not hand over your credit card without getting an Insurance precertification/quote because if they overcharge you based on their estimate of what insurance will cover, you will never get your money back. They kept offering to do another fitting so they could bill the insurance company more and lower my out-of-pocket but I don't have the time or the medical need for another fitting - I just want my refund for the amount I overpaid based on the original invoice submitted and their negotiated provider/insurance disallowed amount. Advanced Hearing Center was instrumental in getting my hearing aids approved. At the time of my hearing test, my insurance fully covered top-of-the-line hearing aids. By the time my claim was submitted, they had changed their policy. AHC fought for 6 months to get hearing aid approved and though they were not the original ones we wanted, they were great quality and included all of the Bluetooth gear I wanted. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I called and asked how much impressions for custom earbud sleeves would be. I was told "$40 per ear". I made an appointment, and when I arrived, I was told the price was actually $50 per ear. I paid the $100 and they took the impressions. Then they tried to charge me $350 for a pair of $150 earbud sleeves. I told them I just wanted to take the impressions and go through Sensaphonics myself. They then told me I would have to pay a $100 fee for "removing the impressions from the office". I asked them to give me the impressions at the agreed-upon price or refund my money, and they refused. I went to a different audiologist and got new impressions for $50. $200 for impressions is outrageous, especially considering how they pulled a bait and switch on me. I disputed the $100 they charged me but since I had nothing in writing (silly me for believing they wouldn't repeatedly lie to my face), my claim was denied. It wasn't until after I filed a claim with the BBB that they finally said I could have the impressions for the original $100, but by that point, it was too late. I had already paid for impressions from another provider. The end result is I paid $100 for a set of molds that I NEVER received. They still refuse to refund my money. Do NOT give these scam artists your business! read more
