I had a poor experience with this company because of their dishonest billing practices. Please refer to Yelp for another user who had a similar experience. Summary: they surprised bill and over billed me and their final concession was still dishonest. Something to be aware of: They charge $257/hour for maintenance work and round up in hour increments. Be very clear about the work expected to be performed and the maximum price you'll pay. I approved a work order for $875 to replace shutter motor and what I thought included the maintenance of my shutters; the price included a 15% discount the company offered due to the recent hurricane (I had to ask for a discount though) but this work order didn't include tax. I received the bill after the work was completed but the amount was for $1,355 (without tax for some reason). That's a 55% increase, which came from two hours of labor at $257/hour and a slat hanger for $50. I approved the original work order assuming maintenance was included, but I was okay paying for added labor even though the original work order didn't include any estimate for it and their hourly rate is unfairly high (my opinion on the latter). But I had an issue particularly with the two hours of labor they charged. I called the office to question the two hours of labor and pointed out that the motor installation already included an hour of work per the original invoice (see picture). They took an hour of labor off the invoice but kept an hour of labor on the bill. I asked why they would charge me for an hour of labor when the tech was there for an additional 30 minutes and they said that they bill in hour increments. I pointed out that this wasn't laid out on the original invoice and furthermore it's unethical to bill this way. They once more lowered the invoice, but instead changed the labor performed to "trip charge" for home visit repair and diagnosis (see picture) after they told me they aren't like the competitors and don't charge for home visits; further, this came after they had already agreed to come out to fix the motor, so the tech was already there and a trip charge wouldn't make sense in this context. I ended up paying the bill because the difference between what the bill should've been and what they offered was $100 different, but it took multiple emails and a call or two to get there. Extremely disappointing experience. Please find another shutter company that bills its customers fairly. AHT has poor communication skills, and their billing practices are dishonest. read more

DO NOT Use this co. Called to have hurricane sutter fixed. Checked out shutter and told me I needed a new motor. Would cost $950. When job was finished told me it would be $1200. When I got the bill it was $1453.50. Charged me an Access Equip Charge (ladder) of $190.00. When I contacted them to say I was paying the verbal agreed charge of $950 they said they would take me to court and put a lien on my property. Not a reputable co. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Not a pleasant experience. They charge exhorbitant fees and others that they forget to mention, like use of a tall ladder. They fix the problem but then create others for which they charge even though it was their fault. They tried to charge twice for the same service. They do not even provide receipts/invoices for their services. Greedy, sloppy and unprofessional! read more

The hurricane tore our roll down lanai shutters and twisted one of the motors. AHT charged $6500 to repair and make the shutters operable. This was less expensive than any other company. Other companies would only do a full replacement because the damaged shutters were an AHT product. AHT installed 2 new screens and 1 motor but couldn't get electric to work upon installation even though the electric worked three weeks prior when they tested it and knew that the other motor worked and had power. When they couldn't get the electric to work, they refused to do any work on it, left and called and demanded the remaining balance. When I said no, they sent a subcontracted electrician to the house. I asked them to just run a new line to sub panel for pool on exterior of house which was less than 20 ft and a straight easy shot. they said any installation of any electrical was not covered and my house probably had faulty wiring. I do not understand how you can install an electrical product and have it not turn on and think you're done with the job. They told me I would have to pay $500 on top of $6500. I said no and they said if I didn't pay the rest they would send me to collection. how do you do business like this?? if you bought an ac unit, would you pay the guy if it doesn't turn on. I paid them for installation and any repairs to make the shutters operable and when they left, I could not make the shutters go up or down. Andy has zero customer service skills and blames the customer. As a follow up, the company is earnestly trying to right the situation and has apologized for the mistake.
