I never thought I'd be writing a review for an Endodontist- I didn't even know what one was till my…read moredentist mentioned that I may need a root canal. I'm still thinking to myself WTF happened. I walked in at 9:50, was in the chair at 10A and out the door at 10:30. WTF. I have no idea what this DR Doering even looks like- all I know is that it was done and I didn't have enough time to even realize what was happening. He runs a VERY well oiled machine- it is obviously what he specializes in so it wasn't too surprising. He was able to provide the confidence I needed to proceed with the procedure, and by the time I had a chance to think much he had music on and gave me a count down how much time was left along the way. It probably took a total of 8-10 minutes. Ok, I hope I don't need another root canal- but if I do.... I know where I'm going.

Had an endo consult here last week with Dr Doering. Once he realized I was not a candidate for his…read moreservices, his patient demeanor immediately changed. I was basically rushed out with an active infection and told to consult an oral surgeon ASAP. I had to ask for an antibiotic for the interim, which he told me "not to take unless I needed it." When I consulted my dentist & the oral surgeon later that day, both said to take the antibiotic immediately, as the numbing may not work during the treatment I needed with an active infection. Dr Doering also refused to prescribe me the treatment for a very common symptom of this antibiotic, which is standard process for the issue I experienced and has never been a problem with other dentists in the past. I was billed over $300 for hardly 5 minutes of Dr Doering's time, yet felt like I was disregarded because I did not end up spending big $$$ with him for treatment. Very happy to take your money, but incredibly reluctant to offer any necessary medication. Do not recommend.

I absolutely love Dr. Gracias! He is the most compassionate surgeon that I have had the pleasure of…read moremeeting and being a patient of. During my first appointment he took time to show me my MRI results, pointed out the problem area, and discussed options. He did not give me false hope that the nerve damage I was having would ever resolve even after surgery. He was very honest that the sensations that I had lost may not return. I respect a doctor who is wiling to admit they can't fix everything. Additionally, he not only cares for you as his patient but he involves your family, or those who will be helping you during recovery/treatment, in your appointment and care should agree to that. He kept them well updated during my surgery so there was no worrying on their end. During my aftercare, he would ask about my mother or daughter if they happen to not be with me during my appointment. Involving a patient's support system in appointments and care has been medical proven to increase success in treatment and recovery. Dr. Gracias's professionalism with staff in his office and at the hospital was also admirable. Most surgeons I have had contact with, from working in a hospital for 13 years, often are egotistical and demeaning to staff around them. However, this was not the experience I had with Dr. Gracias. He was very polite to those working with him and even those who he passed in the pre-op area. The two things that touched me the most and made me realize that Dr. Gracias was a doctor who truly cared for his patients was first, in pre-op when he came to talk to me before surgery, a clergy member was praying with me. He quietly came in, put his hand on my shoulder and prayed with us. I had tears running down my face. Most doctors would leave the room and return moments later or interrupt the prayer to hurry the case along. Yes, I actually had an anesthesiologist interrupt a prayer during pre-op for a hip surgery. Secondly, in the OR room, my heart rate and blood pressure where elevated. I told those in the OR room prepping me that I was horribly anxious and fearful about going under anesthesia and about possible experiencing uncontrollable post op pain. The anesthesiologist just told me to take deep breaths to help calm down and walked away from me. Dr. Gracias came into the room and routinely asked the nurse my vitals. She informed him that they were elevated and explained what I had said about my fears. He walked over and looked me in the eyes and said to have no fear because he would care for me like I was his own daughter lying in that table. Maybe it was the gentleness in his voice or the compassion in his eyes, but I knew everything would be okay. Then the drugs kicked in and I drifted off to la-la land But he kept his promise! I highly recommend this doctor for all of your surgical neurology needs. He has truly been gifted by God to do great work in the medical world. He practices with a level of compassion that has been lost by the medical community. God bless!

Last year I went septic with a dental infection and was in the ICU for four days. I spent a total of 16 days in the hospital. The pain is causing me to lose sleep, which feels like mania. I have bipolar disorder. If I have an extended session of mania, it leads to psychosis. I see a paychiatrist regularly and I actually saw her in the morning, but there is a paperwork issue and the meds she requested for me will not be filled to Tuesday. I know the ER is not a dentist or my psychiatrist, but I felt like I was in crisis so I went. I was hoping for antibiotics for the dental infection and maybe a bridge prescription of a couple of my psyxh meds to get me through until Tuesday. Instead I was summarily dismissed by Dr. Chad Kovala. "I'm not a dentist and your psychiatrist is treating you. I can't help you." It didn't matter that I went septic last year from the same issue. Apparently my inpatient psych history doesn't matter either. I was so distraught by his dismissal of me that I called the suicide helpline when I got to my car. I have the screenshot. I was on the phone with them for 30 minutes before I felt safe to drive home. I have never before been dismissed with such a smug and superior attitude. Yes, I know a dentist is the ultimate solution for my tooth issue and a psychiatrist needs to do long-term med adjustments but I was in CRISIS. My teeth are IN MY MOUTH AND THEY AFFECT MY HEALTH. I am terrified of ever utilizing your ER again. Hospitals are supposed to care for sick people. Period. You didn't. Do better.

My wife and I both took the day off of work for the surgery, purchased hundreds of dollars of special food to prepare, and also put many plans on hold for the projected week of recovery. The morning surgery was going to be delayed, and Dr. Lesperance suggested that we reschedule the surgery since we "weren't sure if we wanted to do it anyway." My wife and I told the doctor that she must have us confused with another family, because we wouldn't have taken the day off and prepared for it if we didn't want it done. The doctor then said that the surgery probably wouldn't be done until 4 or 5 in the afternoon. We didn't let that scare us, because there really wasn't a better day to have the surgery done, since we had taken the day off and were prepared. We were told that our daughter couldn't have food less than 6 hours before surgery. Our daughter hadn't eaten since dinner the night before, so we had her eat breakfast, finishing before 10:00a, allowing for a 4pm surgery. When Dr. Lesperance found out that our daughter had eaten breakfast, the doctor said that she wouldn't do the surgery at all. Dr. Lesperance had recommended the surgery enough to put our daughter through the torture, but it apparently wasn't important enough for the doctor to have to work past 4:00 PM. Dr. Lesperance also lied to the anesthesiologist, saying that she had told us that if we fed our daughter breakfast that the doctor whouldn't be able to operate at all. Dr. Lesperance had never said that. We were told that there must be a 6 hour minimum wait between eating and operating, and that it was the anesthesiologist's call. Dr. Lesperance refused to do the surgery even if the anthesthesiologist okayed the time between eating and the surgery. Dr. Lesperance apparently wanted nothing more than for our autistic daughter to not eat anything for 24 hours, and to make my family wait around all day.
