I can't speak for the main hospital, but I have to visit the outpatient center every few months for blood work and the staff there are great. If you get help if you're in pain or if you're sick or somethings wrong with don't waste your time going to fish because they don't listen. They treat you like shit and unless you're ready to be on your way out then that's the only time I'd go doctors suck. Their staff sucks. Diabetic. Ready for surgery could not eat or drink for six hours. After surgery, no water in the room. As a relative I stopped three nurses to ask for water. It took eight minutes before someone brought water. Asked about food for the diabetic and was told "sorry the kitchen is closed." there was a tray of food setting on the nurses counter. I asked why it was there and they said somebody went home before dinner was served. I asked if my relative could have it and they said yes. It was obviously not a diabetic meal. The care was amazing, all the staff Dr's ,Nurse's anesthesiologist , sergeant, house keeping kitchen department, security were caring understanding very helpful Christlike and worked as a team .. Ready to help out ! Had so much pain and did not know what to do. They analyzed me right away the application was less the 5 min .. did my surgery. Every one was very polite professional caring .. and gave me tips on what can I do to feel better and recover quicker.. The Food is good also the rooms are very nice looking and enjoyable when you stay here in your recovery.. I thank God for sending me here to this Holly place where they saved my life with God's help .. The Lord continue to bless this place! And they really worked with me on the price !! The nurses are nice, but most of the doctors who I encountered here, you're just another patient to them. My mother has ALS and the GI doctor who placed a feeding tube on her was kinda rude with no bedside manners. He told me that she only has maybe 3 months to live, and this was 8 months ago. My mother is still alive today, yes her diagnosis is progressive and I've seen the her health declined, but the way he explained things to me was very dismissive and has no compassion at all. I would not recommend this hospital at all because our ER visits have always been an unpleasant experience. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS ER! Excellent inpatient services, though. I am a Nurse Practitioner and a DNP. This ER is in desperate need of education for its triage staff. I came in knowing exactly what was wrong (the subsequent testing bore this out), and they completely ignored me. I was in pain crisis, and they ignored that, too. I left and tried to go to another hospital, but could not tolerate the trip and had to call 911. They brought me back to Fish. However, when you come in an ambulance, they take you right into the ER. The Doctor told me what was wrong, and I told him that was exactly what I told them out front. He did apologize. I ended up being admitted. read more

I went here to deliver my baby! All the nurses were great and the doctors I had. Very attentive and didn't have any problems with requests for my birth. When the baby was here they all helped of course the baby and I but also helped my husband ( he doesn't do great with births) which was really nice! I didn't feel pressured or rushed in my birth and felt completely taken care of. I did get an epidural and Steven was very nice as well and no pain caused by the epidural and worked very well with numbness. Overall best labor and birth experience I've had in a hospital, I had three kids and all different hospitals and this was the best by far! read more

Department 22 ICU - MEDICAL RECORDS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I left AMA from this hospital due to malpractice. I was in for Pancreatitis levels over 4K triglycerides. They took me off strong medication even though I told them I was going to horrible pancreatic pain. They never did an ultrasound, x ray or a scan to check the amount of inflammation in my pancreas to make a decision if I was really in need of pain meds or not. At this point I felt they were judging me that I was lying about my pain. I'm still going through pain now. I took pictures on how they left my arm so I would think twice before going to this hospital. I also told them I was getting allergies from the heart monitor stickers which they were supposed to change every 24HR if you get that irritation. I was there for a week... they changed it once. I was in 22 ICU... how can this happen? read more

The ER team are trash. Come in completely out of it from a car accident, got my arms stabbed over and over , get woken up by them screaming into my face. The nurse that discharge me through papers on my chest and told me other people need this room for me to get out. "Do you have anyone to come get you ? Wait outside if you do. Hurry and go now" she walks out, I got out of the bed ,I had blood everywhere from a broken nose and they did nothing to stop the bleeding, I got yelled at for washing my face and told they will have security take me out if I didn't leave the room immediately. Beware that this predatory hospital will pretend to care and be Godly while simultaneously have MDs speak to you for less than 1 minute who will than bill you and your insurance hundreds of $'s. EVERYTIME they speak, talk, or interact with you, it is you/the patient/family who need to ask the question "How much will I be charged for this and is it necessary?" I have worked for them twice and been treated by them multiple times. Providing "loving care" to a person and being a business at the same time is near impossible and in this does NOT happen. Not even if you use the word God 10,000 times! Also know, they, in Florida, will/can drug test you without your permission at will and have no need to give explanation nor connect that test to your care needs (a clear civil right/HIPPA violation). September 18th 2025 I was in that hospital to have a right kidney stone removed. All the Care up to the procedure was perfect The procedure to remove the kidney stone was perfect I never felt a thing. 100% great hospital. Then came the aftercare. (5th floor overnight nurses) Winnie, (a black nurse who hates white people and president Trump) Tried to poison my drinks and my straw with bacteria. She wore dirty gloves. Winnie never put on new gloves. She tried to poison me with bacterial infection. Melissa (a Spanish nurse who hates white people and president Trump). Melissa tried to poison me with dirty saline water (light brown) and she tried to poison me with a dirty vancomycin bag picked out of the trash from another patient. I asked who authorized this IV ? Melissa says I don't know. She had an air bubble in the syringe trying to kill me. Both nurses tried to harm me. Melissa tried to kill me. I still don't know if there is poison in my bloodstream from Melissa. BEWARE !!!!! read more

This hospital has knowingly allowed patients to come out of surgery without sedation violently thrashing to get their intubation tubes out. Went to ER recently for a heart issue. Wonderful staff, caring and comforting. After tests I was admitted. I'm a critical person but every nurse & technician coming into my room was the kindest and friendliest I've ever encountered in the medical field. A relative stayed with me and this may not be important to anyone else, but they have exceptionally comfortable recliners for visitors unlike a room at Mayo Clinic where my relative sat 8 hours on a stool with no back support. The breakfast was fair, but in a cardiac wing, it was what to be was expected. Lunch had options and was great! Tasty chicken salad sandwich, chips, delicious pudding, & juice. No complaints about the food. I wasn't expecting to be admitted and halfway through the day I discovered a complementary toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash in my room. That was nice very much appreciated.. I was impressed with the Dr, the amount of time he spent with me, very kind, caring and detailed. He answered every question I had. read more

I was admitted overnight, only because I insisted on being discharged AMA, because the Doctor assigned to me, a Dr Patterson, whom I don't wish on my worst enemy, cut my muscle relaxer that I take for bulging discs in my neck in half. I have been taking this mild muscle relaxer for years, and it works! It is my opinion that she should lose her medical license for causing me to be in pain. if you get admitted to Fish Memorial Hospital, the staff is great and friendly and fantastic except for Dr. Patterson (female) just to distinguish her in case there is another Dr. Patterson, I recommend you ask for another Doctor or if you they refuse, get a family member to take you to another facility. So glad you're here. When we needed you, you helped us. Once in long ago myself, mom was in just recently. You took care of her and everyone was very friendly and helpful and worked really, really hard under very trying circumstances along the way. With a lobby like the waiting room for a flight to heaven, and a sprawling underdeveloped campus on lots of land, everything's beautiful. Lol Not like those nerve wracking hospitals downtown, near me. Mom actually Loved the food but she's of old school plain New England tastes. We laughed she might have actually put on some weight in the hospital. Lol Wonderful soups, jyes, I hit the kitchen, but without reading the hours, I thought they were a bit random. Closed on the weekend when I dropped in oddly enough for a place you'd think be 24/7. Anyway, food's inconsequential here. This hospital is right near my mother's assisted-living unfortunately. You're only as good as your communication and unfortunately, you do have to communicate as a hospital this round. My mother is now in the emergency room and I have been trying for an hour to call the emergency room and find out what they're going to do with her. I personally have just had surgery and cannot go to the hospital so must rely on a telephone. For the last hour every time the phone rings they pick it up and hang it up so I cannot find out what is going on with my mother and if she is dead or alive, but she was very, very ill when she left the assisted living. I understand my call is superfluous and unnecessary to the nursing staff, but that is my mother and I need to know. Somebody to answer the phones. You make enough money. read more

I ended up walking out of this place with the needle in my arm because this place was so bad. My bed sheets were dirty, there was someone else's blood and gauze on the floor, and the PA and front desk were so rude and didn't take me seriously at all. I told the front desk I was here for a migraine that hadn't broken for a week and he chuckled at me. Little did he know I just had brain surgery and holes drilled in to my skull.... I watched 6 to 7 people that got there after me go BEFORE me, while I'm visibly in pain. They offered me Tylenol and Benadryl for the pain which I denied because I had already tried EVERYTHING at home to no avail which is why I came. They gave me a bedside commode because I was dizzy, then they let the urine sit there next to my bed for over an hour. They rarely check on you and I eventually just got up and left because I couldn't take the whole experience anymore. Definitely never coming here again. read more

My sister in law at age 65 had surgery on her leg - a relatively straight forward and routine event per the doctors at Fish. She developed an infection after surgery and died a week later . This was in 2011. Her husband, my brother, went in recently because of sharp pains in his abdomen . It was a gall bladder issue. They removed it and he developed septic shock in recovery and his liver and kidneys shut down. He nearly died then and is still bleeding internally,the infection is not solved, and his kidneys are not working. Don't know what or if there is an issue here , BUT ... Two , low probability outcomes . Also, the Hospital ratings appear good -- except for the septic and the post op infections categories ?? read more

I would never recommend this hospital to anyone EVER!! My father was in rehab to learn walk again and had complications with losing blood. He needed to go to the hospital ~ Unfortunately he was taken to this hospital. He was in there with a surgery done on his groin area due to a blockage of blood in his leg. They took him in and performed the surgery to not only unblock his blood in his leg but to also amputate his big toe. My dad is almost 79 years old and just had a major surgery in this hospital. Not even two weeks went by after the surgery and they wanted to release him. FOUR DAYS AFTER SURGERY! I called his case manager to see if he was going back to the same rehab or to a new one. I was informed he would not be going back to rehab. They thought he was looking fine and was sending him home. I explained to them that he was in rehab learning to walk again as it was. Now they have amputated his toe and he has like 10-20 STAPLES in his groin. So how the heck do they figure he is fine enough to go home. I further tried to get them to understand that he has no one in Florida to really help him. He lives with his 76 year old niece. And I live in Ohio with health problems of my own which prevent me from moving. And coupled with the fact that I have four dogs ~And that he said he did not want to move back to Ohio. My next suggestion was a nursing home. They quickly shot me down and stated that he needed to be out of the hospital by noon the next day. They needed the bed. 79 years old + 10-20 staples in groin + his big toe being amputated DOES NOT ADD UP TO HIM BEING ABLE TO WALK 5 DAYS AFTER SURGERY!! I told them that if something happened to my dad because of them then I would sue them. They then hung up on me ~ and since they said "I threatened them ~ put my dad in an ambulance on a stretcher ~ and took him to his niece's house ~ AT 8 AT NIGHT!!! They wheeled him in on a stretcher. Took him off the stretcher and put him laying down on the couch and left him. STILL IN DIAPERS FROM THE SURGERY ~ UNABLE TO WALK MORE THAN TEN STEPS WITHOUT FALLING ~ AND THEY DROPPED HIM OFF!! I never threatened them. I merely explained what would happen if my father was harmed in anyway from them sending him home without the ability to be cared for. I quickly hopped a plane and did what I could when I got down there. The next morning they sent a home nurse out. She met with us and we explained what happened. She stated she was there to get a plan of action started with physical therapy and home nursing. She asked for his discharge paperwork which I gave her. She asked where his medicine was and I showed her on the coffee table what I had picked up from Walgreens. Her next question stunned me ~ "where's the rest of it?" I called Walgreens and sure enough nothing else was called in but the ones I had picked up. She told me to call the case manager immediately because one of the pills missing is Plavix. If you don't know what this is it stops platelets from clumping up together and forming blood clots. I called the nurses station and requested to speak to the case manager. She asked my name and the patients name. I told her and was told that the case manager was on "rounds" with the doctor and would call me back. After 45 minutes the nurse decided to call them. She got right through with no problem. Guys not only did they kick him out of the hospital unable to walk, go to the bathroom, or even stand for 5 minutes ~ THEY FORGOT TO CALL IN HIS MEDICATION!! My father is still struggling but is learning how to function in his condition. He has now had the staples removed and is starting to learn to walk with a walker. I would never recommend this hospital. They are dangerous to their patients. Please do not trust your loved ones to this hospital. read more

I would call my scheduled out-patient bone marrow biopsy experience at AdventHealth FISH somewhat of a horror story. First, I was never advised that I was going to be given "conscious sedation" instead of full sedation, I was just being told that I wouldn't feel anything. The main reason I chose having the procedure done at the hospital instead of the Dr's office was because I didn't want to be awake or experience pain at all. I was moved from the pre-op area to a hallway outside of the CT room waiting for a prior patient to be removed from the room. While in the hall, I spoke to a very pleasant nurse anesthetist from WV and then the Dr came and introduced himself. I was having issues with rib pain on my left which is the side I usually sleep on, so rather than having this procedure done on the right side resulting in not being able to sleep on either side due to pain, I asked the Dr to perform it on the left side so I at least could sleep on my right. He agreed to perform on the left side but kept telling me that there are no reported pain issues after this procedure so either side should not present any issues with pain. Once in the room, I was asked to move from my existing bed onto the bed in the CT room face down. As I attempted to move to the CT room bed, I noticed blood all over the sheet. As soon as the nurse noticed I saw the blood, she covered the underlying sheet with another sheet over top so I could no longer see the underlying bloody sheet and proceeded to assist me onto the CT room bed. Next, I noticed a huge chunk taken out of the side of the CT scanner and made a comment that it looked a bit concerning. I was advised by the nurse that people are not careful with gurney's and tend to run into the CT machine with them and not to worry as it did not affect the function of the scanner. They proceeded to put me into the scanner which at that point, I noticed blood splattered all over the inside of the scanner. When I was backed out of the scanner, I then noted how filthy the floor surrounding the scanner was and was going to say something, however they immediately began the procedure. I was never unconscious throughout the procedure and at a particular point in the procedure as the Dr was attempting to get the bone sliver, it was apparent he was having difficulty and began pushing harder and the pain became unbearable. I began writhing in pain and grabbing everything I could around me. The Dr apologized and asked the nurse to give me more medication, but it didn't appear to do much and I just couldn't wait for the procedure to be over! Once in the recovery area, the nurse that was assigned to me pretty much didn't want anything to do with me and wouldn't even talk to me. I tried to make a few jokes and make her smile however she just went about her business and ignored me. I am now almost 2 weeks post procedure and the pain in the biopsy area still exists and I cannot sleep on that side due to the pain. Glad I insisted on that side being done instead of listening to the doctor - while the Dr may believe patients have never experienced issues post BMB, I can certainly attest to that not being the case. Reviewing the resulting reports from the BMB, they note there were no bedside-prepared aspirate smears so several items could not be determined and that the sample was suboptimal. I believe the environment was unsanitary and there is no reason to make anyone go through the kind of pain I went through! I will NEVER have another BMB done without complete sedation (even if I have to drive to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville who apparently has the procedure down to a science by putting patients under complete sedation with propofol for a few minutes during the worst part of the procedure so the patient never experiences any pain) and I certainly would not have another invasive procedure done at FISH due to their lack of cleanliness. read more

I cannot express how grateful we are for this hospital and the INCREDIBLE care our son received from Dr. Hector Rivera and the nursing staff, especially our nurse Christine. Our son was having an anaphylactic reaction on Thanksgiving evening and the quick thinking and response of both the physician and nurses saved our sons life. We are forever thankful for the team at Advente Health Fish hospital for taking care of our family on Thanksgiving when they were not able to be with their own families to celebrate. I had to come in at 2 am for severe pain from an untreated UTI. I'm so thankful this hospital is close by and took me seriously and gave me the medications I need to get better. Yes there was a bit of a wait because every hospital is overflowing with patients so I'm not holding that against them, the front desk staff were very nice and Hailey in triage made me feel more comfortable as I had a lot of anxiety at the time but she was calm and reassuring. I'm very thankful for the ER doctor and PA who took the time to validate my concerns as I am pregnant and an untreated UTI could have harmed my baby. Being a healthcare worker is sometimes thankless so I just wanted to thank them for taking care of me when I really needed them! read more

Two days ago, on a Sunday, I rushed my beloved and only sister to your ER with suspected heart attack. Your attentive ER staff immediately responded and quickly determined she was having a STEMI heart attack. They quickly prepped her for the incoming cardiac team to save her life. She was very scared and crying and all of the staff were very compassionate and doing all they could to reassure and soothe her. They also let me stay with her, for which I was very grateful. Dr. Bitar performed an angioplasty and two stents. They saved her life. Afterwards, in ICU, the nurses were the best I've ever seen. So genuinely concerned and compassionate. Her room was beautifully clean, roomy and comfortable. It was comforting to see all the latest technology in use there. She was released today and we are forever grateful to all your staff. Did a really good job responding to my needs it was very busy but they were friendly and courteous

Just had surgery here this past Wednesday to have my left kidney removed. I'll say that they nursing staff were hit or miss. Some nurses were great and others not so much. It seems like they aren't all on the same page. The room I was placed in after my surgery was extremely hot and the morning staff were working on moving me to a cooler room but when the night shift came in they knew nothing about this and took me to continue to complain to get a new room. I asked early around 3pm to change rooms and didn't get into the new room until 1am! Come to find out the older lady in the room next to me originally had her heat cranked all the way up!! I was so uncomfortable in this hospital and needless to say I asked to be discharged a day and a half after my surgery. Much more comfortable when I got home!! I could not sleep in this hospital. Every single time I fell asleep which wasn't much they would come in to check my vitals, take blood or be making all kinds of noise in the hallway and upstairs.... It was terrible....... Some of the Nurses like Tay, Porsha, David, & Miranda were awesome though!!! read more

This hospital is HORRIBLE. I had a benign tumor, but after an MRI but before surgery, I was told it was "probably cancerous" and I'd be "lucky" if I had two years left to live. Who gives this kind of grim diagnosis without being absolutely certain? I've gone in there other times with what I believe to be sciatica, but have been told it's a sprained AND strained back. And that would effect my leg WHY? I believe the doctors and nurses in this facility don't actually listen and just spit out random diagnoses. They also rarely prescribe anything helpful. Expect to wait at least three hours for any given visit. This hospital is a piece of crap, and the next time I need any kind of medical treatment, I WILL be making the trip across the river to go to the Sanford hospital. read more

I've been visiting this hospital quite frequently as of late and I have to say that I'm not all that impressed. Sure, the doctors and nurses are polite, and the doctors (from what I've seen) are well-qualified, the hospital Somehow feels a little too small, and a little too big all at the same time. The good: Get in and out: no one likes to stay for too long in a hospital, and fish memorial does a good job of getting both patients and families out quickly Going for a walk: The area surrounding the hospital is very large, and there are plenty of places to walk. The obligatory duck pond is clean and well-kept, and the surrounding lawn is nice. There are also a few strip malls within walking distance if you need somewhere to go while you're waiting for someone inside, including a wal-mart. The bad: Waiting room hell: there are several waiting rooms, but the chairs are extremely small chairs with those horrifyingly uncomfortable plastic cushions. Sitting in these chairs for more than an hour is a real chore. The waiting rooms are also situated in very small hallways which feel cramped.there is a television in the hall, but it is very small and it is frequently to loud to hear it. Leave the kids with a sitter: Although family members are required to recieve outpatient discharge instructions from the doctor, children are not allowed out of the waiting room, which means you have to leave your kid by themselves in a room full of strangers. Sure there's a receptionist, but I'm the type of parent who takes no chances. And if things take too long, you have to sign in and out with nurses and have someone accompany you just to check on your child. Way too complicated and if you are able to leave your child somewhere, it's definitely worth it. Overall, this is a nice facility, but it's not very comfortable, and they don't really take much care in regards to those who may be visiting or waiting on patients. read more

I wouldn't even give this hospital 1 Star, but since it's the lowest, I have no other choice. I took my son to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain followed by vomitting at 7 in the morning. There were a few people ahead of us. We saw the nurse to register him and she assigned him a level 3, which I was told was that he would be priority because he was in so much pain that he was curled up on the floor crying. She took his temperature and blood pressure, ordered blood work and a urine test. Okay...that's fine, it might help. So after waiting an hour, they finally call him back. I think okay we're going in. Wrong! They took us back for blood work. He got his blood work and then proceeded to vomit. So the lab tech tells us to stay back there so he can lay down and she went to tell the front desk that we were in the back. So we wait another 45 minutes, and another lab tech comes in and tells us that we have to go back to the waiting room. It is now 9:30 and his stomach pains have gone away, but he is continuing to vomit. We go out to the waiting room and around 10, they sent an EMT intern out to take the updated vitals of all the people who have been there over an hour. The EMT tech, takes my son's blood pressure using an adult cuff. By the way, my son is only 10. He does this unsuccessfully 3 times before I tell him that they have a child's cuff in the basket. He finally is able to get the correct blood pressure with the child's cuff. He then takes his temperature. After he did this, he went to put the thermometer back in the holder with the used cover still on it. When he went to dispose of the thermometer cover, he realizes that he forgot to bring something to put the cover in. I watched him as he put the cover in one of his pockets. He did this with 5 other people. At 10:30, his stomach pains had been gone since about 9:30and he's only vomitted twice. I went to tell the front desk receptionist, Kathi, that he is feeling better and we no longer want to see a doctor. We just want to get the bill for the urine and blood tests. She said okay, but you have to see a nurse first. FINE. So she tells us the nurse will take us back in a few minutes. Ten minutes later, after waiting for over 3 hours, they finally call us back. They take us to the exam room and the doctor, Newcomer, comes in. WHAT? I told her I no longer wanted to see a doctor. FINE! The doctor said the test results for the blood and urine came back normal. He asks all the usual questions relating to stomach pains. He had no tenderness and the pains had gone. He asked if he had been exposed to the stomach flu and my son said yes.The doctor said, "Well, it sounds like the stomach flu. There is no pain or tenderness in the abdomen and everything feels fine, but just to be sure, let's get an x-ray." WTH?! An x-ray? For what? The stomach flu? I told him that I didn't want the x-ray and he says that he needs it just to be sure. Now, it is 11 and we are headed off for x-rays. We get the x-rays and then we are taken back to the emergency exam rooms. The nurse who came to give him the Zofran to keep him from vomitting goes to the waiting room and proceeds to look for my son. Finally she finds us in the front exam rooms. She says, "Come with me, I'm going to take you to the back exam room where all the excitement is." We get to the back expecting an exam room. NOPE!!! She puts us in a bed in the hallway across from the exam rooms to meet with the person to get insurance and personal information. I understand the exam rooms were full, but to my defense I did tell them I wanted to go home. Now we have to wait for ther registrar. She comes over rather quick, of course because now they want their money. To let you know, I am self-pay. I have no insurance at the moment and am currently unemployed. So imagine my shock when she tells me that the bill is going to cost me $550, for unnecessary x-rays, random tests, and an unwanted doctor visit. Now I'm extremely pissed because all I wanted was to pay for the urine and blood test and not see a doctor. I could have just walked out since they don't gather your personal information until the very end of this very long process. But no, I have to be the upstanding citizen that I am and believe that I will only have to see the nurse and give my information. SO I WARN YOU NOW...they use the consent form that you sign when you first get there against you. When you choose to leave, you aren't offered an unconsent form. You can only give them a verbal explanation. I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER, GO TO FISH MEMORIAL AGAIN. And by the way, I will be fighting these charges! They will take you for every penny you have. They will order unnecessary tests. And they will expect you to pay for them. I paid $100 today and that is all they will get from me. read more
