I took my husband there, he was unable to walk as a result of a trip and fall. They helped him transfer from the truck to the wheelchair. He complained about injuries to both knees, lower back and hole on left palm of hand. They Xray both knees, lower back and hand. He needed to be immobilized on both knees due to fractures. The head nurse was placing the units on his legs and explained that it might need to be adjusted. We arrived at 8:45 and were released by 12:15. They are efficient, knowledgeable and have great communication skills. read more

This place was amazing. First we were sent here as it's normally not busy. That was false. Place was non stop busy. The staff were great from the beginning. We sat in waiting room the whole time as there were no beds. They took her to blood, X-ray and talking w the doctor and nurse. Everyone was super friendly and we were only there for 5 hours. Place is super clean and the cafeteria was small but nice. Coffee meh. Overall very nice staff. Thank you. read more

I had an accident at home and a couple of days later woke up in severe pain. I searched online for urgent care and this hospital popped up as being closest. I don't have very much experience with the healthcare industry. I usually go years with just an annual exam and lab work. So when I saw the "ER" sign on the building (not urgent care) I went in anyway. Oops. About 5 questions, maybe 10 minutes with no imaging. No hands on probing for the pain point (s). Three generic prescriptions, three starter tablets, and a generic steroid injection. And these prescriptions take days to kick in. Due to the abuse crisis, no one gives out immediate pain relief nowadays, only OTC (tried, didn't work) or inpatient for that. So 45 minutes of waiting, and i get the cash discount price for the "facility fee" of just under $500 and out the door. A month later, another bill arrives at my house -- another thousand for the ER doc. So beware. Had I delayed 3 hours and gone to a walk-in (which I eventually did) the price would have been a tiny fraction of this $1500 and I would have received a proper diagnosis (I actually have two injury sites, not one, revealed by a careful assessment of the totality of the symptoms plus a hands-on exam). Also outpatient prescriptions written in an ER are usually time limited to a 7 day supply, so again, unless a person has a paramedic level injury, you might be better off waiting to access a real clinic since a longer supply means another visit. What a waste of time and money. read more

I have been dealing with a medical condition since 2021 that has caused significant challenges over the years. This November, I was unwell for most of the month and ended up in the emergency room on Saturday. I assumed it would be a standard visit for fluids and antibiotics, and I'd be on my way. Unfortunately, things had progressed and worsened, leading to my admission to the hospital. The experience was difficult--I was in a lot of pain, separated from my family, including my daughter who is about to give birth, and isolated in a room. It was a frightening time. However, I was fortunate to have an incredible team of doctors, nurses, and CNAs who provided outstanding care. I didn't allow anyone to visit me because I didn't want to risk spreading illness during the holidays, which made the isolation even harder. Without the support of this amazing medical team, I don't know how I would've managed. I considered naming the individuals who helped me, but I'm afraid I might forget someone since the first few days were particularly rough. If any of my care team is reading this, please know how much I deeply appreciate everything you did for me. Your top-notch care made all the difference. Now for some areas of improvement: 1. Television and Entertainment: Being confined to a hospital room can feel very lonely, and the TV is often the only distraction. Unfortunately, the channels were limited, and many were pixelated or unwatchable. Toward the end of my stay, the TV stopped working altogether, and no one came to fix it despite my reports. This is an issue that could and should be addressed. 2. Shower Facilities: The hospital lacked functional showers for patients. The bathroom showers were out of use due to safety code issues, and the designated shower room was also unavailable due to water system concerns. While warm wipes were provided, going a full week without washing my hair made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. This is an area that deserves urgent attention to ensure patients can maintain basic hygiene. 3. Nutrition Issues: Nutrition services were inconsistent. Despite being on a strict liquid diet, my orders were often incorrect. On one occasion, I was served chicken and green beans instead of the prescribed soft diet. Thankfully, my nurse stepped in and brought me the appropriate vegetable broth and Jell-O, but it was frustrating to deal with such repeated mistakes. In summary, the care provided by the staff on Med Surge 1 was truly exceptional--five stars without a doubt. However, the hospital itself, due to issues with TV, shower facilities, and nutrition, would earn a three-star rating. With all the riff raff here in Tehachapi recently, being seen timely is out the window. HOURS upon HOURS of sitting and waiting. And that isn't just for the ER. Diagnostic testing around the corner from the ER takes HOURS now because they see all the riff raff in the ER BEFORE they tend to the normal people needing an Xray or MRI. It used to be a decent place to have to end up, not anymore. I will risk death by going to Bakersfield next time. read more

The nurses here are great and so very understanding, but the doctors are incompetent and seemingly have no idea what they are doing. Dr. Ghoreishi is completely out of touch with women and I had a horrible experience with him. His only saving grace was the nurses working under him. I went in for excessive bleeding and urinary retention after a vaginal surgery that same day. The bleeding was so bad I was losing about a cup of blood mixed with clots every 45 minutes for 3 hours. This incompetent man tried to tell me I was on my period...sir! I am a 30 year old woman who literally just had surgery down there several hours prior and I know what a period is, and that was not it! I didn't even bleed that much after having two babies much less on my period. My doctor who performed the surgery let him know what to do to stop the bleeding and sure enough, I was able to go see my doctor (a real doctor) the next day and the bleeding had stopped. Why? Because it wasn't period blood! It was excessive bleeding from my incision site. Ghoreishi actually wrote in my discharge papers that I was on my period. Very upset with my experience and the lack of knowledge and care he had; and the fact that I had to sign those stupid, false discharge papers. It was the nurses that got me the care I needed and ultimately sent me home in less pain and taken care of until I could get in to my surgery doctor the next day. Even then, I had to beg for the treatment I needed. I was not listened to until I was screaming in pain and they knew they had to do something. By the time they actually treated my urinary retention issue with a catheter (which also slowed down the bleeding), my bladder was over full. A woman's bladder (and I am a small woman) typically holds about 300ml of fluid. Mine was at 500ml. It is this kind of incompetence that is going to get them sued, or worse, somebody seriously ill who isn't cared for or listened to and ends in serious injury or death. I wish I had followed my doctor's advice and gone to Mercy in Bakersfield for emergency care. That said, I was bleeding so much and in so much pain I don't think I could have made it there comfortably. Sad that this is the only option for any sort of urgent/emergency care in the nearby area. read more

I've only been to this hospital to use the outpatient lab. I've always gotten registered and taken back fairly quickly. The phlebotomist has been great every time. My issue is with the billing department. Every time I pay up front my insurance then pays also and I end up being owed my money back. Every time I have to make multiple phone calls over a period of weeks/months to get my money back. Every time somebody in the billing office says yes they see the refund that is owed to me and they will start the process of getting it back to me. Then the next time I call I'm told exactly the same thing. This time my insurance paid them in January, it's now March and they still won't return the money they owe me. Not sure if they know it's illegal to keep money from the insurance and the patient, but it is. In the meantime I'm paying interest on the credit card I used and could be using the $300 they have to pay other bills. The care is great, billing department criminal. read more

If I could give this hospital zero I would.... The care is horrible....my son went in last night. He had tested positive for Covid and had a fever for 7 days and the cough was getting worse by the day. So because they live in the area, this is the closest place....WRONG CHOICE!!!! They did nothing for him, told him his oxygen was good and his chest sounded clear. My son asked if he should get a chest xray and a Physical Asst by the name of Jennifer Diane told him there was no need and sent him home. Next morning he calls and makes an appointment with his Kaiser Dr who had him come to Bakersfield. The first thing they did was give him a chest xray which revealed !!!!! GUESS WHAT!!!!! PNEUMONIA!!!! WOW!!!! They also did blood work and got him on a nebulizer to help with the cough... Jennifer Diane Physican Asst. did nothing to help him. We're talking about coughing so hard its hard to catch his breath. Oh she did give him something to help with his upset stomach........ Please Please Please ...if you have an emergency don't risk going to this hospital. Take your chances and drive to Bakersfield....I would never go to this place for any type of treatment. I just wonder if Jennifer Diane treats her family members the same way. She has no business being in an ER or anyplace else for that matter. The only good thing about this hospital is there wasn't a wait.....shocker.....now I know why.....Who would want to go there... Stay clear of this place if you want to be taken care of ......Thank God my son went to Bakersfield the next morning to get the care he needed because he sure didn't get it there. Every employee I observed is kind and considerate, but especially a security guard who brought a woman out who's waiting for a ride and he went and got her a sandwich and a drink because she's gonna be sitting here a while. Nice new hospital with good kind and helpful staff, good food for vegetarians and nice rooms with easy-to-navigate tv service. I recommend the chaplain, Josh, there also for a good guy to talk with. As for doctor's care in an emergency situation, I was better being transferred to Bakersfield, where I found staff better able to treat my punctured lung. I think that's reasonable that you will find greater specialization in a bigger city. I recommend you ALWAYS take that into consideration. read more

We were put in queue for a ultra sounds and didn't have to wait long for that either. I have been to Adventist Tehachapi 4 times last night. Retired now asked them how much CAT Scan treatment would cost me. They did not tell me and I did not know I was out of Network. What I found out was they should have just made sure I was stable, which I was and then move me to Bakersfield. The CAT Scan cost my medical insurance $5600 and me $1700.00. Found out for what was needed a X ray would have been satisfactory. There a rip off. Only go there to insure your stable and request to be moved or if possible. Have a friend or family member get you the hell out of there. Would perfer to rate less than zero! read more

Shame on you Tehachapi Adventist Health Hospital Worst ER visit ever. I arrived at About 225 am was greeted by the rudest most unprofessional Adventist Health Hospital Staff. From Security to the intake receptionist to the nightmare triage person (could care less why you are there) I informed this monster that I'm 57 yrs old hadn't eaten or drank in 5 days I was weak having trouble breathing and unable to sit up and needed immediate attention feeling I was going to pass out. Never took my weight not once made eye contact with me as she continued with her backwoods attitude I Was told that it would be 3hrs before I could be seen. (Nasty) Ended up " If you want to lay down and wait go to main lobby and figure somewhere to lay down" (Nasty) Sleeping for 4 hours on cold concrete lobby floor, that was until the rude female security comes and stands over yelling at the top of her lungs "what am I doing there can't lay down get up" so I proceeded to ask front reception if I was ever going to be called in because I was feeling sicker and I feel like I'm dying. Her rude condescending response " Your not dying go back and wait nurses are changing shifts they will call you shortly that was 630am finally after 2 more torturous hours I see a Dr come out of ER and complain to him gets me a bed immediately within 2 minutes of speaking to him. The nastiness in the front of house is Terrible. starts from the bully Security Guy or girl talking down to you being rude and unprofessional when you trying to enter the hospital because you don't feel well, Than the rude unprofessional intake receptionist pulls up with there lousy attitude and finally you get to meet the rudest non caring triage person (could care less about you). Such a sad case for this beautiful multimillion dollar Hospital what a complete Embarrassment. The threathing signs that you post about ZERO tolerance should work both ways. How about EDUCATING YOUR EMPLOYEES On how to treat PEOPLE who are coming to them for help and care. Maybe a different Security Co. the tough guy/girl attitude is just wrong. The GHETTO mentality and unprofessional behavior they express is terrible. I and family members recently moved to Tehachapi, my Mother, Father, Brother and I have all been to this Hospital. I've been there 3 times and each time they have you waiting in the waiting room for hours in upright uncomfortable chairs for hours. They may even come out take blood in the waiting room, put a pic line in and leave you for hours, When you're COVID positive you don't feel well and it seems their not very sympathetic to how you feel. I know they are way under Staffed and need help. Don't go there expecting excellent service. read more

Before I could even finish introducing myself he said "we're not interested" and hung up on me while I was still speaking. Checked in at around 10:30 am and was discharged by 12:40pm on 11/26/21. Waiting at the ER is never fun. I anticipated a long wait because, well, it's the ER. My son was seen by the PA Max Maude. He was quick and very nice to my son. The nurse Kristin was soooo helpful! I really appreciated the staff allowing me to sit in my car instead of waiting outside. I have been to the emergency room twice here. Once for myself, once for my child. The staff, nurses, doctors, and ultrasound techs were different both times, and both times they were all wonderful. Being in the emergency room sucks but they made it the best experience possible. My husband also had positive experiences both times he went for injuries that needed immediate attention. I believe everyone's experience at places like these can vary. Me, megan and her mom came here at 4am one time because she was sick, and had some swelling. The waiting room is pretty small, but the hospital is kinda small as well so yeah. What I DID like was that the woman at the front desk was really nice and helped out as much as she could while we waited, and before we left too. And we didn't wait at all to be admitted. It took like 10 minutes to get inside. And they only took about 30 minutes with her. Giving her her shots, and checking her out. We were there a total of maybe 50 minutes to an hour, and she felt a lot better the couple hours after we saw them. Maybe nobody else was sick that day, but they helped us out really well, and really quick! Thank god! read more

The staff displayed very little care for my grandmother. I would not trust this place with any more of my family members. If you have to go here, advocate for yourself because the staff will not. She had to volunteer information that was important that the staff did not ask her. It just really seemed like they did not care, and frankly I question their judgment with regard to her care. Also: The security guard for the emergency room had an absolutely filthy mouth. Based on the other reviews, we're also concerned about their billing practices given how little care they exhibited. My dad does a lot of work with wood, and he got cut, extremely badly. The bone was showing. We rushed him to this hospital and it was such a bad idea. We should have gone literally anywhere else. First of all, my dad was SHAKING in pain in the waiting room. Everyone could obviously see he needed to be seen. They triaged his hand and wrapped all his fingers together, when it should have been just the two that were cut to stop the bleeding. (We know an emergency room doctor personally, and yes they did that wrong) They proceeded to make him WAIT FOR 45 MINUTES TO BE PUT IN A ROOM!!! When he finally got into a room, they were going to call a finger specialist, who NEVER CAME. They had him wait in a room for about two hours, just sitting there. He could have been in an out in less than an hour and a half so obviously the "nurses" working there have no experience on how to run an emergency room efficiently. We have a friend who got us in with a finger specialist, and when he went to do the final surgery to reconnect and fix his two fingers, the doctor let us know, when they did the stitches at the ER room, THEY LEFT DIRT inside of his hand!!!! Which would have become infected and he would have lost his hand. Please PLEASE do not go here in an emergency. Unless you'd like to wait to bleed out, or be left with infection so you can loose a limb. Save yourself! read more

I tried to set an appointment and was told they only take walk-ins. When I did my walk-in for a hemorrhoid, which is by no means an emergency, was told I was going to be seen ONLY in the emergency room. They then proceeded to charge over 700 USD for seeing a doctor in the ER (for a hemorrhoid!) for less than 2 minutes and getting a prescription that didn't even work...I ended up curing the issue with a home remedy since the meds didn't work. I don't feel like I was treated...I feel like my wallet was milked. It's a damn shame what greed is doing to medical services these days. I'm never going here again. read more
