The Boat House Cabin that we stayed in was right on the water, complete with its own dock and the views were gorgeous any time of the day, especially at sunset. The cabin itself was spacious, spotlessly cleaned, and beautifully designed with modern amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen and stunning washroom features. So many thoughtful details went into the design of the cabin from the pretty tiling, artwork in the bedrooms, types of plates, etc. The basket of goodies (Away Cabins water bottle and various snacks) was also a nice touch. We also enjoyed the many shared amenities on site such as the hot tub with stunning views of the lake, the communal fire pit, a variety of fun games in the shed, and water equipment like kayaks and pedal boats. The kind and welcoming hosts Debbie and Jason check in on guests during their stay and they honestly thought of everything for such a relaxing getaway! Pictures don't do this place justice - all of my photos from here are unfiltered by the way for those wondering. Our room ended up in the annex section. Behind the hotel is open green space that I'm pretty sure belongs to the hotel, and backs onto the Otonabee River. It's very pretty and picturesque and I think a nice place for like an outdoor wedding. Our room itself was pretty standard. We had a queen bed, couch, coffee table, flat screen TV, microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is small and is just the toilet and bath tub. The sink is outside of the bathroom. There's a gym and a pool, neither of which were used by us. Lots of free parking. The breakfast area is nice. Since our stay was during the Covid-19 Pandemic (not our preferred time to travel, but our journey was ultimately for an interment), the hot food was served in "to-go" pre-packaged servings by an attendant (it was a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin when we were there). The attendant also serves you coffee and tea. Everything else is single serving individually wrapped and you can serve yourself with those (e.g bottled juice, yogurt, packaged pastries, granola bars, etc.). The dining room was open, with tables spaced out, but we opted to eat in our own room. I was satisfied with the Covid precautions. We paid around $120 a night. I would stay here again. Hopefully next time under happier circumstances, both personally and from a global health perspective.

We have stayed there at times when dock hands were sent out to assist us tie up upon our arrival and we have stayed there at times when they have not. Facilities our clean. They offer wash room facilities and laundry facilities (fees apply). Rates to stay are competitive with other marinas along the Canadian shoreline. Power and fresh water at the slips. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fuel / full service station on location. WiFi available at the slips. Shops, restaurants, and a large beach all within walking distance of the marina. Area also offers a farmer's market (check with chamber of commerce for schedule) and often times free festivals and outdoor - live entertainment. We would return to this marina again.

Pinecrest cottages was originally a summer retreat and has been around for about 150 years ! at some point about 20 cottages were built. Currant owners Diego & Lynn have owned the property for about 6 years and have done extensive renovations to the buildings and water front area.We brought along our own boat and there was ample space at the dock, pinecrest also has plenty of rental boats of all sizes and free canoes and kayaks .The cottages were clean and comfortable with great vistas and sun sets. The fishing is great either by boat or just off the dock.The cost turned out to be less than we thought ! We enjoyed the night time fires and found the other guests to be friendly, some traveled quite a distance from areas in the U.S and one we spoke to have been visiting for over 25 years ! we had a great week and have pre booked for next year. Very much a tripping hazard. We disconnected at night so that folks wouldn't trip in it in the dark. Outside of that issue, everything was fine and standard. Park staff are very friendly and welcoming. The one beach for guests was open and nice. The other beach for day use was closed due to bad water quality. Saw a Barred Owl close up, a little to close when walking over to the comfort station at night (scare the cr*p out of us), nice to see close up in wild doing owl things and no did not careless we were there it was to busy making its dinner

We enjoyed getting ice cream cones in the camp store which was run by really helpful park staff. Our kids loved the trail that parallels the water, and it was neat to see a lighthouse up close. I will say that the mosquitoes were terrible, so don't go without an ample supply of bug spray. Also, the raccoons in this park are BOLD and cheeky. Keep your food and trash out of reach of the critters. Overall, though, it was a beautiful park.

My wee family has been exploring. I went to Presqu'ile Provincial Park on a day pass and enjoyed a short, family-friendly hike and a swim on the sandy beach. It was a lovely day! The water was warm at the end of June (miracle!) and the park is doing a wonderful job implementing social distancing. I highly recommend the daytrip. So many bonus points for the chip trucks at the entrance. Chip truck poutine is always five stars.

2024 review Today is a beautiful hot day for the beach and…read morewe arrived comfortably around 11am and parking was slowly filling up on the closer lots. $5/hour or $40 all day, there is parking police patrolling when we arrived. We chose to park on the west end by the boat marinas and it's a close walk to the white sand beach and lighthouse pier. Few more minutes to walk to the info hub, food truck and washrooms make it pretty easy anywhere on beach. The washrooms are also next to two simple playgrounds and splash pads. Nothing fancy but good place to rinse off the kids before getting back into the car. The sand is freshly groomed and very soft. Minor pebbles, debris that the kids could walk bare feet on. There was lots of space to play and set up camp, not as busy as expected especially arriving this late in the morning. In my honest opinion, while sitting on the towel ground, I could smell an odd aroma. It's probably an algae smell in the water and sands lingering around. I preferred sitting higher up from the wet sand and trenches the kids were digging up to get more airflow. No one else seemed to mind but when the gentle breeze wasn't blowing there was a weird smell. Feedback from my partner said the water is nice but as you go out further, there was some algae pockets in the lake sand making it kinda gross and slimy. Important to check by laws about what you can or cannot bring to the beach. There is frequent beach police patrolling the sands. Today's water quality levels online and on the beach showed it to be really low. Always check beach water quality before leaving as some have been in the red this summer. All in all, a decent place to go for a nice sandy beach. Kites, frisbee, water blow up toys, sand castles and kayaks in the water, this place is pretty chill to hang out at. The kids are having fun today and want to come back.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had a lovely stay…read more Calling this place a B&B is a bit of a misnomer, really, as we had an entire portion of the house to ourselves, with our own separate entrance. Our lodgings opened out onto a balcony which overlooked an extensive garden, a historic pub, a golf course and a lake. It was a beautiful view and our living quarters were luxurious. The four-poster bed was stunningly comfortable and about four of them could have fit into the giant-sized bedroom! There was a sofa beside the bed opposite the gorgeous French windows. There was an infinite amount of storage space for all our items. The bathroom had all necessary provisions and there was something about the water pressure in the shower that made it it the best shower ever! (I can't quite describe it!) The living room had a sofa, an armchair, coffee tables, a giant-widescreen-plasma TV, plenty of reading materials and lots of much appreciated kitchen items such as a toaster and a Keurig machine. And the heated swimming pool! This was included in the price and reserved for our use only! Absolutely amazing. It was a lovely feeling heading out into the bitter cold for dinner, knowing that we would return to such a luxury! The combination of all the above ensured that paying $125 a night was truly superb value. That being said, there were a few things that made our stay less than perfect: Making a reservation was difficult. Numerous phone calls and emails went unanswered. I was then told to call at a specific time, at the owner's convenience. The B&B kindly offers two rates. One ($125) for no breakfast, one ($140) with breakfast included. As I booked in advance of a surprise trip for my bf, I wasn't sure - when booking - which option he would prefer. When I spoke with the owner to make my reservation, I asked if we could let her know upon arrival which option we would prefer. I was told this would not be a problem and they would accommodate our request either way. When we arrived, we were told that it was too late to request a breakfast, as the owners had made personal plans for the weekend. That's fair enough, but it would be nice to have been told in advance. We didn't have a car and there were no breakfast places or convenience stores close by. I'd be lying if I said this didn't put a dampener on the weekend. After our initial welcome and tour of our section of the house, we didn't see the owners again. This wasn't a problem in itself (although I'm sure some would have a security issue with it), but it meant that when we had some small inevitable questions (''What's the wifi password?'' ''Other guests complimented your wide selection of DVDs but we can't find any DVDs, can you let us know where they are?''), we had no way of getting answers. We knocked on the door leading into the owner's section of the house, and called the number provided, but no answer - all weekend. I would still happily return to The Inn By The Mill - it is a beautiful, romantic and luxurious B&B and I feel anyone would feel privileged to stay there. But much as I hate hate hate to criticise family-run businesses, I felt that customer service was lacking slightly. Solidly four-stars.
