There just hasn't been a review of the Curtis Hall Community Center in quite a while, and I thought it would be helpful to update. I'm training for a triathlon and needed an affordable place to swim 1-2 times a week. I I've gone swimming here a couple of times and I'm very happy with the swimming facilities. The locker room is.. a locker room. It seems well maintained and clean, which is all I can really ask for. The showers do turn off approximately every 30 seconds or so, but it's not a huge problem. The pool is 25 yards, and there are three lanes. I've only been in the early morning, but the most people I've seen at the pool at one time is 9 (3 per lane) and that worked out just fine. The gentleman who works at the front desk in the morning is friendly, and very helpful. He allowed me to try out the pool a couple of times before joining, which was really nice. The cost to join is $30 a year and there is a $2 per use cost for the pool. However, you can buy a card that gives you 7 uses for $10 -- well worth it if you ask me. I have no problem paying to help to support a community center. I will take a look at the rest of the facility one day when I'm not in a rush to get to work.

The basket ball courts are fantastic and always look brand new and when you look up, there is one of the nicest indoor tracks around. Free lock and towells to borrow. state of the art water fountains to fill up a bottle and vending machines if you don't want to leave for a snack. Be warned, its not just students and the older crowds don't like to wear towels in locker rooms. Keep your head up when you walk in. Free for students. Parking available with permit. If you forget your UCard, you get in 2 times a semester (I think, don't quote me on that) with just your ID number. Much better than a $10 gym at home. If you commute, go here before you go home and save the expense.

I recently attended a callback for a production in Boston that was set at a soccer field, and the director wanted us to literally learn how to play soccer to test our mettle and see if we could do it. Well! Let's just say that if you HAVE to play soccer, the Marina Bay Sportsplex is a great place to do it. The indoor soccer field is the size of an airplane hangar, and it's the perfect place for your Bend It Like Beckham / She's The Man / Kicking and Screaming dreams to come true. While I unfortunately (but unsurprisingly - I mean, sports? Me?) didn't end up getting cast in the show, I will say that my visit to the Marina Bay Sportsplex was a great one, and I would highly recommend this place to any aspiring Mia Hamms or Cristiano Ronaldos in the Greater Boston area!

Danville Community Center was previously known as the Danville Fire Association Hall until the Town…read morepurchased it in 2011. They made a lot of improvements to it (new secure entry doors, upgraded/updated kitchen and washrooms, etc.). They kept the rustic knotty pine panelling. Not my thing, but it warms up what would otherwise be a sterile commercial building. It's the polling place for all municipal, state and federal voting events, used by several town organizations (some committees, youth sports leagues, senior luncheons, I think guides and scouts, etc.). Town earns some revenue by renting it out for private functions. And blood drives are held here. Used to be just once a year around Christmas, but now I think Red Cross comes three times. Residents of Danville seem to be getting a good deal of use from the Community Center. Dare I say money well spent? ;)

It is very crowded when some league games are on. Overall it is an excellent and well-maintained place to take a walk and do some sports you like. The parking sometimes can be competitive, but you may have street parking instead.
