On the way out of the marina, several dolphins were spotted, with several known by name by the local tour guides. Several more dolphins were seen throughout the afternoon. I found recommendations for Native Son Adventures on a Facebook group, looked at what they had to offer, and decided to call and check availability. We ended up not scheduling a full day on the water, but scheduled a morning tour and an evening tour. The morning tour included shark tooth hunting (the kids found 3!), fishing, (we caught 2 sharks), dolphin sightings, and cruising around the area. Our evening tour included a visit to shell island, some more fishing (we caught another shark), and a sunset cruise, and a stop to watch the fireworks. Both tours were on a tiki boat that had couch seating for 6 and bar seating for 6, so our family of 5 had plenty of space to move around and stretch out and relax. We were all very happy with the time we spent with Captain Will and Captain Byron. Both Captains made our tours a memorable experience for our family.

We had a 2 year old with us and he was caring throughout the entire trip and made sure to let us know when he was going to change speeds or anything so we could keep my daughter safe. We caught a couple of good size sharks during the trip which made us very happy. The boat was nice, he had a bathroom available just in case, and it rained pretty heavy at one point on the trip so the canopy was great at keeping us all dry. He asked me to look at the weather right away and when I did, as well as my wife, it showed a 10% chance in 3 hours. This seemed reasonable to us since we were there anyway but said to him that we are up for it if he is and he responded with "if you say so" and turned around like he wasn't happy with that decision. I completely get it if he didn't want to go because he thought the weather was going to be bad but he didn't say that and just proceeded with the trip with passive aggressive negativity. We go out and he takes us barely out of the channel when this trip was advertised as a 1-3 mile offshore trip which was obviously Incorrectly advertised or he just didn't want to be out there. He took us to a place where he set several lines on the bottom and when there was a shark bite the kids could reel them in. This was not advertised as a shark trip at all and my son has fished many times and was very bored with this. If I knew that this was the type of trip as opposed to what was advertised we would not have booked it. We called the trip with an hour left as we could all tell he didn't want to be out there and it was very awkward. It was the first trip we had brought my wife and other son and I'm quite frustrated with how the trip worked out I messaged the charter company and received no response about the issues either.

Our guide, Chris, was knowledgeable of the local salt marsh, wildlife, and history of bluffton. We enjoyed our paddle down to the old town public dock and looped back down the may river. We saw dolphins, various coastal bird species, and other various marine and salt marsh life. We taken plenty of tours and felt Chris went the extra mile- providing waters, thick towels for cooling our necks, and was even was so kind as to let us use her binoculars! PS - She's a great photographer! 2) We also did a boat cruise and tubing tour with Captain Hunter as we had several friends join us day 2. He was also a great captain and guide - knowledgable, funny, and very understanding of the various comfort levels with participating in tubing on the may river. We saw SO many dolphins day 2 and had a blast listening to music and cruising and laughing. bring food and drinks with you for even more fun! Highly recommend both guides & tours. Captain Ed and Chef Joel were accommodating and hospitable. We all agreed that the experience was extraordinary and unique. The boat is luxurious and well equipped, with several indoor and outdoor areas to gather. As a surprise, my wife booked us on a 2 hour kayaking tour of Jarvis Creek. Besides us, there were…read more2 other couples who were waiting with us for the tour. Mark was our tour guide. He explained all of the safety rules in great detail ensuring that everyone fully understood. We signed waivers allowing us to proceed on the tour. You get a choice of what type of watercraft to select. There was a 2 person ride-above, a 2 person kayak, a 2 person canoe as well as single kayaks. We took the 2 person kayak. Life jackets are mandatory and provided, but we also brought our own. Water is recommended to take along as well. Aqua socks are also recommended. Flip flops and other open toed shoes are a strong "no-no" Mark made it clear that with all of the oysters in the creek, a flip overboard could cut the bottoms of your feet. We launched our own kayak by first carrying it down the ramp where Mark was able to stabilize while we got inside. Our tour was supposed to be 2 hrs, but ended up at 2 1/2 hours with 3 miles of paddling completed. We started against the current and eventually were able to ride the current back. During the journey, Mark would point out the different birds and wildlife in the area. There were many oyster bed protruding from the water with many "spitters". We almost ran aground on one of the beds during the first part of the tour, but were able to free ourselves using the paddles. We and the rest of the group were fortunate not to flip. The waters are typically quite shallow, but due to the brackish nature, you can't see the bottom. We saw a couple of fish jumping, but the waters are too shallow for dolphins. We were also fortunate that the temperature stayed around 80 and was mostly cloudy. It could be quite humid and hot during the summer which could make the journey a bit uncomfortable. Mark did a great job getting everyone back safely and always followed COVID precautions by keeping his scarf/mask on when he was on land speaking with us.
