I purchased a bike from adventure cycle, after about 6 months it need a tune up. They charges $300 for a tune up! I also purchased another bike from adventure cycle ( exact same fat tire bike) but this time I took it to Bobs cycle for the work to be done. If I could give zero stars I would. I've lived near this place all my life and have seen every level of low from the owners and operators. From INSANE price gouging, (4 times the service rate) extremely rude, mean to the neighbors, mean to the homeless, previously acted like I was homeless, ignore you as soon as they realize you're not going for their bs sales tactics... it is amazing they have stayed open this long truly, so props to them for that if nothing else. read more

I have an older Trek 4300 alpha that is having some issues with creaking/clicking... so I brought it in to be looked at. I communicated that I didn't want an upsell on the latest, lightest parts... just a check and a repair if necessary. I even joked that there wasn't a need to put on the latest lightweight parts - when I'm a big guy... would be better for me to get sturdy over-engineered ones. ;) I got a total of a 30-second look from them at my bike and they shrugged me off... I suspect because I wasn't going to be up sold. Pretty much told me that they couldn't help and I could always put it on Craigslist. Have previously had a few "tunes" from them... and was not impressed with their prices and lack of helpfulness. UPDATE: With a very minor amount of research, I was able to determine that my clicking sound was from the bottom bracket. For $50 I was able to remove, clean, and replace the bottom bracket and crank with decent (not top of the line) new parts (including the cost of the crank puller and bottom bracket removal tool). Total repair time was about 1 hour - including cleaning and lubricating. Sad I had to go to Amazon - would have loved to spend that money in the local community. Would NOT recommend them. They may not have given me 30 seconds - but I'm willing to spend more than that 30 seconds of time to encourage others to find someone else who is helpful. If anyone wants to learn about replacing a bottom bracket - give me a call - I'll give you more than 30 seconds! read more

Needed a new bike seat so I took my bike into this shop. I had no idea what I needed but they were so helpful and figured it all out for me. They picked out the best seat and seat post and even installed it for me! Even though these things are expensive they gave me the best deal they could. They went above and beyond and I had a great experience :) read more

Went there today to buy myself and my 81 yr old mom a 3 wheeled bike.mind you they were 800. Each. The guy said he doesn't recommend my mom try it out due to her condition. So, after being out of the area for a while, I found myself back in Merrit Island and in need of some bike maintenance/upgrades...I headed straight to Adventure Cycles! - As always, the store was clean, welcoming and well stocked and the owner (Carol) and service staff was every bit as helpful as I remembered! They were able to meet my every need and I so appreciated that, even though the store was busy, they took the time to "inspect" my bike discovering a few issues that I was not aware of - they were tiny, low cots things but huge in keeping my bike (and me!) safe... thanks to everyone there for such a nice "homecoming"... read more

I've just had the WORST consumer experience I have had in an extremely long time. WARNING, do not go to ADVENTURE CYCLES in Merritt Island, they will surely rip you off! They treat you sweet as pie when you're purchasing something, but when you have questions, the owner turns into a total witch. I went yesterday and made a big purchase for myself (big to me). Well, I bought a TREK FX 1 bicycle for $599 because I've wanted a good bike for a very long time. I left the bike overnight at the store for them to attach the kick stand and was planning to pick it up today. When I got home, I did a little research about the bike I had just purchased. I discovered everyone around is charging $70 less, or more for the bike that ADVENTURE CYCLES sold me....even TREK directly online! When I called today to tell them that the competition was much lower in price, "Carol" got very mean and basically said I can get a refund because they know they can sell it to someone else with the price jacked up. I went in after work today to get my refund. I asked if they would just throw in the kick stand and a water bottle holder and I would keep the bike. They said no. So, these people, the owners, feel very comfortable knowing they are selling that bike for significantly more than $70 to $100 to someone else. Whatever you do, don't give these thieves your hard earned money, some other business deserves it so much more. #karma read more

I bought a Trek Marlin 4 mountain bike and found out I paid $150 more than msrp - Bob's bikes in Melbourne has a Marlin 5, (a better model) for less than I paid. $150 is a huge mark up on a $500 msrp price tag. Bought a bike here about 6 months ago with the thought of supporting my local bike shop. I had bought from BikeWorks in Orlando and had a good experience but it was much farther away from where I live. Called in to have it tuned up for the first time and was told that since I did not bring it in within the first 60 days that would be a charge of $59.00 but they would do me a favor and charge me $39.00. Bike Works and Matts in Cocoa Beach offer this service for free with in one year, minor tune ups are free. I called back and spoke to one of their staff and told them I would no longer be doing business with Adventure Cycle. They have a good employee but management is snooty and they will nickel and dime you. I'm taking my business elsewhere, even if I have to drive farther it will be worth getting service after the sale. Beware. read more

Excellent service. The woman that works there took a lot of time helping me pick out a helmet even though I told her I was looking for the most inexpensive one they had available. I moved to Merritt Island with my family at the end of 2014 and sought out a local, independent bike shop to service our bicycles and supply parts that I wanted quicker than the Internet could deliver. Adventure cycle filled that need, tuned up two of our bicycles and has supplied miscellaneous tires patches wheels tubes etc. But the reason I decided to write this review is the outstanding customer service I received when I detected a change in my race bike's shift quality following it's tune-up. We traced the problem back to a chain substitution made to significantly reduce the tune-up cost. Adventure cycle replaced the chain with one costing nearly twice as much, at no charge. In my experience this is a very good bike shop with unsurpassed customer service. read more

I have to say this is one of my favorite run businesses in Brevard. I have bought 5 bikes from them over the past 30 plus years and have always been extremely satisfied with the service and expertise. Some of their products I could buy online a smudge cheaper but I'd much rather buy from a locally owned and operated store right here where I live. After attempting to "save" some money by doing a little bike repair on my own, I ended up stopping at Adventure Cycles to correct my attempt at a cheap fix. They were very friendly and helpful. I've lived in the area 20 years. I have been in the store a few times and have never thought they were very friendly - probably to the small amount of money I was spending. In need of new shifters/brake handles for my mountain bike I headed to Adventure Cycle thinking I should buy locally rather than online. Also, being new to fixing up a brakes/shifters I thought a local place could give me exactly what I needed for my bike. This place was happy to sell me a generic shifter/brake combo and as it didn't come with brake cables a new set of cables and housing also. I could have bought a brand name (Shimano) online for roughly the same price for the generic product they sold me. I now have about 1/2 the gears I should but it's a big step up from the 2 gears I was getting before the new cables - probably due to the old derailleurs so I'm satisfied with them. However I was never able to get the brakes to work properly. Took about 15 feet to stop with the rear brakes and front brakes don't work at all. Finally took it to another bike shop who noted right off that the brand new brake cables sold to me at Adventure Cycles were not made to fit the type of brake/shift lever they sold me. Adventure cycle only takes returns on unopened products I was told. The new bike shop said they would have to replace the cable to the correct type so my brakes would actually stop the bike. What a waste of time and money going to adventure cycles. read more

BUYER BEWARE. Got a new beach cruiser for christmas. Only rode on road. Both tubes failed by April. Stems were cut. Accused me of low tire pressure never below 35 psi. New tubes 51 dollars. Got it back tubes installed at an angle, would cause the new ones to be cut. Took it back was told to leave. A lot of bikes in showroom had improperly installed tubes. read more

Just moved here 6 months ago and wanted to support small glocal business instead of just ordering my part from a internet site. Bad decision on my part. took a rim from a 3g bike in with two broken spokes and they replaced them with two chrome ones even though the other spokes on the rim are all black. It took over 24 hours to fix and I had all ready removed the tire and tube from the rim for them. I was told The reason for the replacement of the chrome spokes was they would have to buy a box of black ones and they are to expensive. I was never given the choice if I wanted a mis matched spokes. In business for 35 years and this is the best customer service they can come up with. They did offer to refund half my money but I figured they needed it much more then I did as there attitude over the whole thing was pathetic. ill go somewhere else or just fix it myself next time as its not rocket science as they would like u to think UPDATE: ITS BEEN A WEEK AND THEY HAVE SENT ME AN APOLOGY LETTER AND MY MONEY BACK. I CERTAINLY DID NOT EXPECT THAT AND AFTER A NICE LETTER AND AN OFFER TO COLOR THE SPOKES I HAVE TO GIVE THEM CREDIT AS MOST BUSSINESSES WOULD NOT ADMIT FAULT. I WILL CHANGE MY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION TO FOUR STARS AS THEY ARE MAKING AN HONEST EFFORT. The woman who works there is very nice. She is the only reason I completed my purchase there today. The mechanic is a prick. He was rude, condescending, and apparently unable to grasp the concept of switching one pair of hubs from an existing set of wheels to another set of existing rims. And then he finally told me 'I just don't feel like doing it.' That's fine. This is what I get for trying to support my local bike shop. I'll be going to the shop down in Melbourne, FL for ALL my repair needs from now on, and I will order all my parts online. No wonder Adventure Cycle's parking lot is always empty when I drive by it. You treat people like crap, they'll go elsewhere. Keep your 'genius' mechanic. I'll keep my money. read more

I brought my son's bike in Adventure Cycles for a slipped chain to be put back on. A female who supposed to be the owner stated would be no problem and they would tune it also. I said okay and they gave me a slip, I thought it supposed to be to claim the bike. When I went to pick it up, they asked over 60 dollars and I asked why it is that expensive they said they also tuned it. I wasn't told that tuning would cost me that much money, I would not get it fixed otherwise if I was clearly told that. She said that it is on the slip, I didn't look at it because I thought that was to claim the bike. I am so disappointed for paying something that high and I would not if that was made clear. When I showed disappointment she also told me that I could leave it there and they will turn it to police station to be donated. What do you think of that, just topped my unhappiness more!! I didn't appreciate being threatened either. She eventually offered me 10.00 discount versus I didn't think it was going to be any more than 20 or 30. I still end up paying more than 50.00 to get my slipped chain back on. I feel like it should not cost that much, even with tuning it up. read more
