He was going to go to San Diego High, but it felt big and impersonal. My son is smart and i felt like he was going to just cruise by without any challenge or any accolades. We toured SET and my son was so excited. I love that each class is small. I love McCurdy, Ms Heath and all the other teachers. Ms. Geis is such a rad human! My Daughter is the opposite of my son.... She is into dance and theatre, but after seeing how awesome SET was, we enrolled my daughter too. Love the school and staff dearly!

If so, I highly suggest you check out SET High (formerly Coleman Tech Charter School). Our son graduated from SET High last year and now our daughter is attending and we couldn't be happier. She is only in 9th grade and already taking on leadership roles. The teachers exceed my expectations. They know each student by name, have great relationships with them. My son's former teachers are always happy to see him when he goes to visit, which is often. He even gave graduation presents TO some of his teachers before he left. The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I'm so excited for the students attending SET High because they are learning real-world skills at such an early age in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. You won't find a better school for your student!

The amount of medical neglect, abuse in sexual, physical, emotional, and mental ways is uncanny! I was sexually assaulted there by a male supervisor, punched In the face 3 times by a school side staff, medically neglected to the point of where when I had my very first seizure they didn't take me to the hospital until I had a forth and fell in the shower. And even then they told me that they were only taking me because I had hit my head when I fell. On top of that, when I had severely hurt myself to the point of needing stitches they didn't take me until I had gone unconscious from my wounds. Also, despite being a "non lockdown" facility they would put the kids in very painful and physically dangerous holds. When I had been put in one of those holds for trying to escape they had dog piled me and one man put his hand on my face and leaned his body weight on my head and the female supervisor on shift had to tell him 3 times to stop. Also, the staff at this place are extremely dysfunctional. They would never communicate with each other and there was often petty work place drama. Near the end of my stay my first therapist had been fired and replaced because she had been found to have inappropriate relationships with her younger clients. They had covered this up and ended up just transferring her to a different practice. Over all the amount of abuse, sexual assault, medical neglect, and overall miss treatment of everyone there was and is still something that I can't believe actually happened. Please never send your child here! Because I can guarantee that they will come out of that place with more trauma and issues than when they arrived.

This program gave me the knowledge, skills, and more importantly, the confidence to be a great DA. My instructors, Kim, Shontay, and Kaelha are such beautiful, kind, caring and insightful people. I'm extremely grateful to them for giving me the skills and courage to go out there into the dental field. They dedicated so much of their time and energy to help us grow, build our confidence, and to teach us everything we need to know ON TOP of their full-time jobs. I'm just truly appreciative and thankful to them. I wouldn't have gotten a recent DA position at a clinic if it wasn't for them. Thank you SDDC!!

Important to note: This course is $9000 if you sign up early, $10,000 if you sign up later on (of which neither cut off date was listed), and ~$11,000 if you pay along the way. The actual company name is Trilogy Education Services, and they take part in UC extension programs (and I suspect it is to mask their intentions with the UC's good name). The staff enjoys to call themselves recruiters, when in actuality they are salespeople who employ methods that are very similar to that of a timeshare: persistence, half-truths, and condescension. I received multiple emails from the company, and phone calls about 2-3 times a week. Once they got a hold of me, I did express that I was interested, but unsure due to my schedule and time commitment. I was informed it is ~30hrs/week commitment. I figured that this could potentially fit into my schedule, and asked about th next part of the process. They sent me an assessment, which was alarming in how easy it was. Something interesting is that there are asterisks underneath every coding-specific question that reads "remember: you are allowed to use Google to answer any of these questions!" They also send a questionnaire about what type of person you are, and if you're a "good-fit" for their course. In reality, I think this is meant to be used to hold against you if you end up finding that it does not work out (which is what happened in my case, with my "recruiter" insinuating that I lied about my work ethic in response to me politely explaining that I would be willing to do the program later when my workload would allow for it). Based on her response, I can confidently say that I will not be contacting them again, as I had previously intended to. Overall, I have found that if you are being constantly pestered by a company, and then guilted after rejecting, then perhaps the company isn't as prestigious as they claim to be. You can teach yourself code for free online at Udemy, EdX, FreeCodeCamp, and CodeAcademy, to name a few. Just set the time for yourself and treat it like an appointment. If you are in the San Diego area, and prefer learning in a classroom environment, Grossmont Community College has well reviewed professors in the Computer Sciences almost entirely across the board. Save your $9000/$10,000 for a new car.
