I could write a novel on my bad experiences with this office, so I'm going to save everyone the pain and I'll stick to bullet points. I will give them credit though, they have completely mechanized the health care experience. Even their Doctors seem like robots. - After hours operators are rude. - Appointments aren't convenient to those who work a normal work day, I always have to use my time off for appointments. - Don't bother with the telephone scheduling line off the advocate website when finding another doctor. I was on the phone with them for over 30 minutes and they couldn't find an appointment after 5:00 on the weekdays or a weekend appointment with a female provider in the North side of Chicago area/Northwest Subs. -How could this office not take primary care checkups during the weekends?! -They do not respect patient privacy. I have been left in the room alone and a nurse left the screen open! I saw what other people came to see the doctor for- names and all,so I assume that the same was done for my information! If I was so inclined, I could have done some clicking around! - Plan on waiting in the lobby, on average for me it's a realistic 20 minutes. I was forgotten about once all together. - The Doctor only cares to get you in and out. On two occasions when I requested a longer visit to address concerns, I had 8 MINUTES with the doctor and no questions answered! - The nurse will ask you what you are here for and type it in the computer, but the doctor didn't address them. - I asked for a complete lab workup, and I guess that comes up to about 5 tests.. - I asked for the numbers from those tests and I have yet to receive them, it's been over a month. I'm sorry but "your labs are fine" relayed by god knows who doesn't work for me. I work for the VA and the care given to the patients exceeds this on a bad day by strides. read more

I can not even believe what I am reading right now. Dr. Dana Russo is my gynecologist and I am pretty picky person! I want everything to be 5 stars for me. And they are. I don't care how big office is and where is the desk. Who cares. I love how they greet me at the door and except me, I love my doctor who was with me my whole pregnancy and she IS THE BEST!! I had my baby with them and it was in best hospital EVER!!! If someone waits for little longer has to be exception, because during my pregnancy, which was more then 10 visits, 15 maybe, I waited just once for about 30 minutes and they told me at the front desk that Dr. is late, that I will wait 45 minutes. I had hurt my shoulder and went to see Dr. Vergara. She had told me that she thinks I sprained my shoulder and to not lift anything more than ten pounds. I work at a hospital and realized that I needed a doctor's note saying that. I called the office asking for one and was told they would call me later that day. They never did and I had to work that day. My shoulder hurt even worse after working, so I called back and asked again the next day. The receptionist told me that they had put in for me to have an x-ray. I explained that no one ever called me back and I was not aware. They once again put in for someone to call me back as soon as the message was read. No one called me! It wasn't until 5 days later that someone finally decided to call me back. I loved both Dr. Debra O'Connor, who I followed over 12+ years as my PCP, and Dr. Dana Russo, gynecologist. When Dr. O'Connor left the practice, I wasn't notified until the office refused to refill a prescription because she had abruptly left. Sadly, she retired. And frankly, I think it's in poor taste to retire without notice. The office staff was quite rude about it, saying that Dr. O'Connor didn't give them any notice, so they couldn't give patients notice. If she left with no notice, there must've been some ugly shit going on, because that's not like her at all. I got a form letter 3 months later from the office saying she'd retired. Apparently that's not a problem though, because some alternate doctor has been refilling my prescription without having ever met me for the past 18 months! Thank goodness it's not a controlled substance. Some of the highlights: I was kept from seeing the doctor when the office was unable to verify my insurance benefits; they insisted on full payment for an appointment because they had no way to know what my insurance would cover. This is illegal according to their provider contract. I was kept from scheduling appointments once when I had a $60 balance (two copays) with the office. Really? Over $60? Even when I told them I could bring it to the next appointment, they would not schedule. I could understand if I had a $6000 balance. But I have some complicated medical needs. Even Dr. O'Connor overrode this ridiculous practice. I saw one doctor after Dr. O'Connor left who was rude, did a complete H&P when I was there for a medication refill, and then told me I would need a letter from an orthopedic specialist to continue a medication for nerve pain (it wasn't an opiate, it was an SSRI). In her words, "You don't want to stay on this forever, do you?" It was that conversation that caused me to run, not walk away from AMC. It's now two years since I've been there, and I'm trying to get some of my medical records faxed to my new OB/GYN. The medical records fax number is not published. Anywhere. Not even to AMC staff. I call the Medical Records number, and get bounced to an extension that, according to the phone system, "is not answered." WTH. It's a good thing this is not an urgent matter. Horrible horrible customer services. The only good things are some of the medical practitioners, but it doesn't surprise me at all if they don't stay with Advocate. Since transferring to Northwestern, I'm happy that my billing and care are kept separate, and I have easy email access to my PCP and new OB/GYN. read more

This is a one stop shop internist,family.pediatricians, cardiologists,neurologists,ect. I was a patient of Debra O'Connor's for 30 years she was the best even called at night and when she was not in the office and she retired and I do miss her dearly. I now have Dr Im very nice and spends time with you very concern with your ailments and returns calls quickly.The staff is awesome.Leslie,Vanessa,Lori at the front desk are great.The medical assistants are really nice Natalie,Maria,Anna. I have seen most of the family doc's and all are top notch.Advocate can be proud of this office. read more

This is the worst medical office I have ever been to. There was a line out the door just to get to the entrance desk then I waited 90 minutes past my appointment time to see a doctor. A week later I had to leave 5 messages over about 2 week to get the doctor to call me. Then he said I should have left a message for the nurse because he had patients to see. They seemed very snooty! Misdiagnosis of mild bronchitis and worse with cough syrup that was RX. They told me to call back this morning if I wasn't better. I called at 10:45 am and was told I would get a call back shortly. At 1:15pm no call so I called back and was put on priority list. At 4:00 pm I left and went to Acute Care in Lake Forest. Diagnosed with moderate bacterial pneumonia and immediately started oral antibiotics and 4 days of antibiotic injections. I repeatedly told the lady at Advocate that it was bacterial and she completely dismissed it. Being in the healthcare industry for 34 plus years I think I know what I'm talking about. BTW it is now 5:50 pm and still no call back. Too bad Zero star isn't an option. Finally got a call at 6:50 pm from someone on a cell phone and it sounded like she was obviously driving. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I have never ever been to a medical office where both the nurses and the operators are so rude. I recently moved here from NY and I needed continuation of care for severe rhemotoid arthritis in which I need remicaid infusions every eight weeks. My very first appointment should have given me the clue as to what was to come. Doctor was good although the nurse is disrespectful to the point that I almost walked out. She spoke to me in the most condescending tone. When she realized that I was getting ready to blow a gasket about the way she was talking to me, she quickly changed her tone and tried to be nice. The doctor saw me and then left the room while saying that I needed to get blood work. No explanation as to where to go or anything. They just walked away and left my husband and I standing there. Keep in mind that I have never been to this place before so I was unsure as to where to go next. My husband and I found our way back to the front of the building so I stopped back at the operator desk to ask where do I go for bloodwork. The operator said to me," nobody told you what to do next?" And my response to her was, nope , they just walked away with absolutely no explaination. Then it just gets worse!!!!! They scheduled me for my remicaid infusion for the following week. Fortunately , I was very sick on the morning that I was to again take the four hour trip to get my infusion so I called to cancel and reschedule. Well thank goodness I got sick because the following day I received a phone call from Walgreens wondering if I was going to pick up my remicaide medicine and pay the 7,500 for it. Number one....nobody told me that I had to pick up my medication and bring it with me, so I would have made the four hour drive there only to be turned away because I had no medication. Number 2.... This type of medication normally gets direct shipped to the hospital and it is billed to my medical insurance. I have never heard of anything like it!!!!! Walgreens even told me that they have never ordered remicaid medicine before. I attempted to call the office to try to figure out what was up. Yeah it took 2 days for them to call me back and God forbid if you happen to miss the call because if they don't reach you the first time then they WILL NOT CALL YOU BACK and then you have to start the process all over. So I called the office back and waited another two days for a call back. So scared I was going to miss the call that I wouldn't leave the house and was afraid to take a shower. I had the phone glued to my hip for another two days. So, I spoke to an infusion nurse to find out what was up with the 7,500 medication that Walgreens is calling me about. she didn't even want to talk about it. She acted as if my questions were bothering her and she quickly said "I don't know ," that is something you will have to ask the doctors nurse about not me. " I then asked her if she could transfer me to the correct nurse and she agreed. So.....I was transferred and I asked to speak with this other nurse . The women who answered the phone said to me, "I DONT EVEN KNOW WHO THIS IS" in the rudest way possible , so I gave her my name and she began SCREAMING at me about how they are not suppose to get "blind calls" . I proceeded to tell her how rude she was and how disgusted I was with her and she still continued screaming that calls are not to be transferred blindly. I then told her that was a conversation she should be having with her coworker and NOT A PATIENT. JUST TOTALLY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR AND THEY ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. This is the Orland Park location!!!!!! Thankfully I found another doctor today who is taking me as a high priority because I need my infusion within the next two weeks. The worst place ever!!! They are always late so even if you make an appointment days earlier you are looking at an hour delay. One time I went and the doctor forwarded the prescription to Walgreens, it didn't arrive until 40 minutes later and when they were ready to fill it they realized that doctor forgot to put directions on how to use it. The office was closing and they couldn't locate any doctors, the doctor on call never answered his phone or responded in any way to many messages left by me and the pharmacy. So I was left in pain unable to get my medication until next day. 2 days later they call me from the office to tell me that they just forwarded prescription to pharmacy and that I can go and pick it up, when I asked aboud my tests results they said they forgot to take my blood. I can't believe the reviews so far way off base.I have seen almost every primary,neuro,in the office and they are all great and spend enough time with you.The front desk is awesome.Victor,Leslie,Lori. Olga the referral person is the best.The lab people everything is on spot,from the telephone people like,Cindy,Joann, The messages are called back the same day.My primary doc is O'Connor and I have been with her for over 27years and followed her to three offices and she is the best ever.The most caring,compassionate and will not miss a step for your health,and calls you back when she is not even in the office.I have sent numerous friends & family there and there has not been one complaint. You want bad service go to Stroger /Cook County hosp.If you want the highest level of care come here.Any one of the doc's are great. I went to see Dr. Russo after several years of having the same OB so needless to say I was very nervous and skeptical. The facility is nice and I never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting area before the nurse came to get me. The nurse was very friendly and nice. I addressed my issues with her and when Dr. Russo came in she discussed every point with me. Dr. Russo made me feel very comfortable and showed a genuine caring to my needs. I would stay away from Advocate Immediate Care 1412 Waukegan Rd. Glenview. The nurses and Doctors have no empathy. I went in there for severe discomfort and pain twice. The first time, the doctor examined me and said "You're on your period the results probably won't read right." my thoughts were, why didn't they tell me that when i mentioned i was on my period over the phone? I asked for a cream or something to help relieve my pain. The doctors response was "You'll have to tough it out through the weekend". The weekend passed, I called repeatedly asking about the results and had to wait 6 days for them to get an answer to me! My pain increased. Many more sleepless nights. I tried to treat myself and had an allergic reaction to monistat. I went back to advocate immediate care (big mistake). The nurse practitioner didn't want to help me. She made me feel like the pain was all being made up in my head. I have never cried at a doctors office, but i did. I begged her to please help me find some relief. She blamed my pain from taking the monistat. After I repeatedly told her I took monistat due to being in so much pain, discomfort and itching. I had no guidance from anyone as to how to treat my infection. I told her I needed a vaginal exam done and she showed me how much of an inconvenience it was for her. Huffing and puffing... saying "If thats what you want." She had an attitude the entire time. I don't know if she was lazy, in a hurry, or just completely careless about anyone but herself...She told me the results would be finished by the next day "You'll receive a call tomorrow with the results". I had to call repeatedly only to be told again "you'll have to wait until monday". I will never return to any advocate offices. Save yourself the time, stress and disappointment. They need to get a new medical team. I am heading to ER for professional help. read more
