I called ahead of time to check if they have facilities to treat concussion and take MRI's, they shamelessly said yes, upon arrival got seen in like 10 mins, to have the doctor tell us they cant handle concessions, and we need to go to a different hospital, and that 5 minutes of doctor's time is apparently worth $915 that we received as bill. Luckily i know my insurance would cover most of it, but its absolutely unethical to charge close to $12k an hour, especially after scamming us into thinking they can handle it. Took my family for covid vaccine in Dec 2021. More than 2 years later, receiving bills for almost $880 per person. Insurance paid $120 for the vaccine, which seems reasonable. Billing $1K for covid vaccine which was supposed to be free during the National Health Pandemic seems to be outrageous, probably illegal. The statement is so late, that we not even find the EOB on the insurers website. Do we have any recourse on how to resolve this? I came here twice recently, once for an allergic reaction and another time because of a car incident. Both times the wait was short, the front desk was very helpful and kind. Doctors gave me exactly what I needed and I was in-and-out. I made sure they accepted my insurance before coming back, so all went smoothly from my end. It's faster and easier to go here than the emergency room. I like that they're open on weekends so it fits into my schedule for when I need to see a doctor asap. American Family Care Urgent Care in Newark is a scam. I had a walk-in COVID test in 2020 and stood in line with a bunch of people and the lab tech came and swabbed us one by one. I did not see a doctor during this encounter. They clearly advertised Free COVID Testing per California law. They asked for my insurance information and 3 years later, I found out they billed my insurance almost $1800 AND why am I also, 3+ years later, getting a bill for almost $1500 for TWO separate visits on different days when I only got a single COVID test? When I call their billing department, all I get is a voicemail telling me that all billing inquiries need to be sent via email. It is impossible to get in touch with a person. While yes, my Covid results took like 9 days, this clinic is great. All labs are backlogged with testing, it's reality. In normal, pre covid life, I usually come here for urgent care needs. Covid booster shots are supposed to be free (no cost) to the recipient after insurance pays the initial cost - according to the CDC government website. However this clinic filed a claim for $1000 with my insurance company and so they paid ~$145, and it shows that I owe (AFC) the remaining $854 (?!)... It was only a COVID booster shot - given outdoors - no other medical service was provided. And yes, I'm reporting this to the Attorney General office of California. The frustrating part is that I knew what antibiotics I needed, but couldn't get them without doctor approval. I had an appointment for a COVID booster shot. There were numerous flyers on the door with conflicting information -- "understaffed", "walk-ins available", "COVID vaccine around the corner", etc. I walk in expecting a waiting period, and attempt to show my QR code for my appointment. Dr. Parmjit Singh shows up at the front desk after 5 minutes and begins to speak to me condescendingly, saying "and?" when I tell him I have an appointment. Incredibly unprofessional service (or lack thereof since I wasn't given my booster shot). I ask if I can return tomorrow if I can reschedule my appointment for when the system is back up and he says "If you want." Will never return to this place for any sort of care and recommend you don't either. I give others the benefit of the doubt, especially during tough times like this pandemic, but this level of rudeness was unbelievable. Some of the worst patient care I've ever received. I sat in the waiting room for three hours and they kept calling people back that arrived after me and when I would ask they told me I was wrong. When there was no one else left in the waiting room they told me that I would be seen in 15 minutes finally. when I got back to see the doctor he pulled his mask down to cough multiple times and then didn't wear it over his face the rest of the time I was back there. His bedside manner was over-sharing and then basically he told me he couldn't do anything and would get me a referral to a doctor. after finally getting a verbal referral for me, they never sent it in so my appointment to actually get my healthcare issues taken care of was almost cancelled. when I called they were unhelpful and took over an hour to respond and send my referral over. read more

I would not recommend coming here for covid testing. I had an appt. When I showed up there was a crowd just waiting not sure of what to do. As more and more people showed up there was no line or instructions. Each of us helped each other by word of mouth on what to do with the forms. It did not matter if you made an appt or not. They did not hand you the forms until you went asked. They did not collect the forms in any pattern. As a result a group of people who I helped explain what to do and fill out the forms were tested ahead of me, even though they showed up after me and their appts were 1/2 and hour after me. I got tested 1 and 1/2 hour later. 3 days later I did not get the test results. I had to actually go back to the clinic to get a hard copy. as I was waiting for the results someone was complaining about the exact same thing I went through 3 days earlier. Advice: hire staff who gives a sh1T about what they are doing. The doctor was great, but the staff really (or acted) like they had no sense of what they were doing. Finally filled out paperwork and Waited another 1 hour against my better judgement and gut feeling. Highly, highly unorganized. No line Organization whatsoever. People waiting all over the place. And then the kicker. The guy directly behind me was at least 30 minutes behind me to fill out his paperwork and was called before me. I was so irate, I just left without shot since they seemed so incompetent. Did let them know how I felt. Take my sincere advice and do not get your booster shot here. As a uninsured 40 year old I have neglected seeing a doctor for many many years. After a series of what I think are Panic attacks I could no longer go on without a doctors opinion even if it was going to cost me a small fortune. I showed up to this clinic expecting the worst, feeling like I was doomed and left with total peace of mind. I have not received any blood results back but the clinic was extremely transparent, friendly, gave me options, I didn't feel pressured to do anything, and best of all it was completely affordable and honest. Zero stars if I could give them zero. Juvenile Covid shot- the line was at a standstill for over an hour. No nurse in sight. The first time we went, the wait was 1.5 hours but at least there was movement. Today, we were the 4th in line. We stood for over 60 minutes waiting until someone finally came out to give the first person in line a shot. Another 60 minutes before it was our turn. They aren't prepared at all. I went to this clinic to get a Covid test, which was supposed to be free. I was exposed to Covid and had symptoms. I get my test and the nurse claimed the test was free. I get a bill a year later saying I owe money to AFC for a sore throat. An entire year later! I wouldn't waste my money to see a doctor over a sore throat! On top of this, they never sent me a bill until I received a collections notice. This company is trying to bilk money from patients during the pandemic and should be boycotted. This company is Despicable and should be avoided like your life depended on it. In reply to the owner: The initial review was posted after your company sent me an email stating I owed money because this wasn't a Covid test, even though, your operator explicitly instructed me that it was a mistake on your contracted lab. I have the same experience as other people for the insurance claim. I checked my health insurance record, and I found that I had few claims ($1090) from someone called "P Singh", and I had no idea who he was. I checked the service date, and it was the day my family had the COVID test at AFC. I remember that I made appointment online, and we had the COVID tests outdoor. I didn't see any doctor at all. The process was smooth and quick, and we didn't wait so long to get tested. Back to the claim question, I also found that there was another claim on the same date, and it was from "Quest Diagnostics". It was about right because that was the laboratory for the COVID test. Then what about P Singh?! What was the claim for? Also, the claim was submitted 3 months later. I read other reviews, and I found that P Singh should be the owner of AFC Newark. My insurance just paid partially for that. I hope that AFC won't send me a bill for the rest of the charge because they didn't provide any medical service other than COVID test which had been paid by insurance. read more

I went there to get my physical evaluation and COVID-19 test. For my physical examination it was OK. The waiting time was decent, the doctor was professional so no complain. However after taking my covid-19 test I suppose to create an online account to see your results (which I couldn't because there was a problem with veryfying my identity) so I email AFC after 4 days from my test. No response. The next day I texted to the phone number provided by them. No response. Finally after 6 days they emailed me sending me my physical results which I got the day I was evaluated. I asked them I wanted my covid-19 results then they replied that they're was not record that I took my test there and asked me to call the office. When I called I was put on hold for 10 min then when I told them my situation they put me on hold again for another 10 minutes before hanging up. Called back and same story they could not find my test results and asked me to call in 10 min. Called back and did not answer the phone. Called later on and was told that somebody would call me back when they chech what happened. Well they did not call me that day till the next day just to let me know that there was not record of my covid test or probably it was mixed up somewhere but... if I want I was more than welcome to go back and take the test again!! The nurse kept telling me everyone had appointments but when I asked people in line they said they did not have appointments. A family walked up and wanted to pay $199 for the rapid testing and the Dr. took them ahead of everyone in line. After everyone in front of me got tested, the nurse walked away for 20 minutes. After I let them know that my son had a baseball game, the nurse decided to take us. Before getting started the nurse kept telling me what restrictions Hawai'i had, which i already knew! I couldn't bring myself to give only 1 star as when I called, the front desk was friendly and answered all of my questions. They were helpful and attentive when I arrived and I was seen quickly. However... my actual appointment with the doctor was a huge disappointment. I did not see Dr. Singh (although I saw him in the lobby and he was very kind), so I wish I could remember my doctor's name. The reason I was there was to get a boot for my fractured foot and a referral for an orthopedist. I had originally gone to Washington ER who gave me a temporary splint, crutches, and a referral to an orthopedist who did not accept my insurance. The Dr. told me to find an ortho who did accept my insurance and he would send a referral. I had to do some Google searches and call around, but I eventually found one and so a few days later, I called him to let him know, and I also made him aware that they do not accept faxed referrals anymore, it needed to be done online. I thought that I was very clear, but he either didn't bother to send the referral at all or just ignored what I said and sent it to a disconnected fax number. That delayed my care by weeks. (The reason I don't remember his name is because by that point, I was fed up and tossed his business card.) The other issue is that I have been having a whole host of other issues and figured I'd speak to him about them since I had just moved and was waiting for my insurance to transfer so I could see a GP. Some of my issues are chronic fatigue, muscle weakness, unexplained weight gain, inability to lose weight, hair loss, and others. Now, I'm 32. None of this is normal for being only 32. He seemed to ignore most of the symptoms and clung to the weight gain, blaming it on being in lockdown, not dieting and exercising enough (he didn't ask about my diet or exercise level), and being a woman over 30. Okay... so I explained, I'm still exercising 5 days a week (even with a broken foot, I was still weightlifting and the weight gain was prior to the injury), hiking weekly, eating at a caloric deficit, I had previously lost 130lbs and maintained that for 2 years, and I'm a certified personal trainer. I know how to lose weight and have the will power to do so. The only time I'm able to lose anything is when I'm basically starving myself at 500 calories a day. I suggested this may be a hormonal issue. He said no. I asked if there are any blood tests he could do. Again, he said no. Their website says they have a lab on-site so not even a basic panel to check for vitamin deficiencies or anemia? This made no sense to me. And now that I've taken more time to do my own research, these are all pretty typical symptoms of hypothyroidism (runs in my family), Hashimoto's thyroiditis, PCOS, to name a few. All of which my new doctor is looking into and running tests on now. But what did this doctor suggest? A weight loss pill for a few years and then a gastric bypass if that doesn't work. What!? First, I'm only 35lbs overweight. I'm not exactly at risk of any serious weight-related complications. And how exactly does that address the whole host of other symptoms I'm experiencing? How is a gastric bypass supposed to stop my hair from falling out or prevent me from being so painfully tired that I'm falling asleep while sitting up by 5pm? It felt so dismissive and I left absolutely disgusted. At the end of the day, the appointment was a complete waste of time. I received no blood work orders, no referral of any kind, and they had run out of boots so I even had to buy one of out pocket. I will never be back. read more

But they were courteous to serve you. When you come in, Dr. Parmit Singh is very charismatic and very funny. If you appreciate his services, reply him back positively. He will thank and appreciate your feedback. Be honest on your doctor's visit because he has other patients to attend to. Ask questions, and he will answer you in a discreet manner He gave me an x- ray because I was concerned if my patella or any affecting joints and bones. I received good news when he said no bones are broken or any fractures appear. He treated my wound. He also told me to take some antibiotics to heal my wound, rest and do the Price on healing a wound. I am so glad I went to Urgent care. I highly recommend going here for your injuries. Bring in the middle of the Bay Area, I thought they would be in network. They billed Anthem $747. I ended up paying the maximum my plan allows which is $250. Seems outrageous to me! read more

Stay far far away from this place!! Back in 2020, I visited AFC Urgent Care for a Covid test, which was advertised as free. However, despite providing my insurance information, I received a bill for over $1,000 for the single test. Naturally, I was shocked and confused by this unexpected charge, especially considering the test was supposed to be free. When I reached out to AFC Urgent Care to address the issue, I was met with little assistance and unhelpful responses. The staff informed me that the bill would be sent to collections if not paid, leaving me with no choice but to cover the unjustified charges out of pocket. Fast forward to today, FOUR YEARS LATER, I received another bill for the same amount from SALOOJAS INC., with no explanation or resolution in sight. Despite my attempts to contact AFC Urgent Care's collections department for help, I have been met with silence and nasty attitudes. It is unacceptable for anyone to be expected to pay such an insane amount for a Covid test that was advertised as free, and the lack of accountability and transparency in AFC Urgent Care is alarming.
