The food is delicious and the head chef changes the menu every week so it's wonderful to have variety. There are many more activities to get involved in and you can join anytime. She could not go back to assisted living, and they not only charged her for the 20 days left in the month, but also a full extra month for extra care she never even got, plus they charged for a month of the apartment she never got to truly live in. You do not get any of your "community fee" reimbursed either (in the thousands). The apartment was emptied and cleaned well before the first of the following month, so they had plenty of time to rent it out again. If this place says they are all about elderly people, shame on them. They basically bilked my mother out of thousands of dollars..she's 93 and on a fixed income. Buyer (renter) beware!

They keep the residence busy over there and give them activities and have lots of visitors and entertainment to come in. My dad loved happy hour on Fridays. And they have great holiday dinners. After losing him suddenly the staff was so very kind. A couple of them came to his memorial service and were genuinely grieving with me. I can't say enough about this place and their staff. At 3.5 years or residence, I am still satisfied with my apartment, the maintenance support, the…read morefacilities and the activities. My wife and I live in the largest independent living apartment (3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 1810 sq ft) and we require very little support so I can't comment on negative comments made about catered living, memory care or health care. We have not used any of these facilities. We continue to be critical of the food and service in the dining room during our one meal a day. While the food has improved somewhat since we moved in, many of the dishes are bland and boring and the dining room is perpetually short staffed. The young (teens and early 20s) servers work hard but there are not enough of them and they are by no measure professionals. The pay is not good enough for that. There is a curious difference in the food service options between different accommodations. Independent living arrangements not attached to the Gardens building are not required to have a food plan but they can pay by the meal if they choose. Gardens Building residents cannot drop the plan. At one time I explored trying to get out of the 1 meal a day plan but that option was not available. In reality, I don't want to cook 7 days a week even though I have a lovely kitchen. Everything I have said in prior reviews still applies. The dining room service still earns a C and the health inspection grade is just "Good" a value that has not changed since we got here.

Complaints among many employees flow like water from a dam that's burst, however, positive feedback is enforced with penalties if an employee doesn't post at least 3 a month. Residents and their families have voiced concerns over rising costs contrasted by less staff and longer wait times for assistance. The food served to the residents is dismal. At breakfast, the food is either burnt or gelatinous from sitting in a pan too long. Bistro food is good, aside from the stale desserts. The food served to the memory care residents is low quality and and difficult for them to eat it. For being a Christian based company, why does it feel like it's ... not..

This was the first place that understood her requirements, met them and provides amazing personalized care. Dee, Mary, Melissa and their team of caregivers are amazing. The setting is surprisingly tranquil for Renton and is in a beautiful home. Only one of the 5-6 rooms has a private bath. There is 24x7 constant care. The doctor makes house calls once a month! What can I say? With Sunset Gardens our family and mother would have been in serious difficulty.
