This tiny aquarium will impart more knowledge in a short visit than you probably take in most months if you take advantage of it. The interns and owner (a former teacher) are committed to answering questions. The things they are studying and sharing are amazing. If you go in and you want to learn and ask questions this will be an experience you won't forget. Think of the best science teacher you ever had, having an opportunity to show the world what she loves to talk about... and that is what you have here. Do yourself a favor, go, enjoy and learn!!

The Spartanburg Art Museum is located in Downtown Spartanburg on the Chapman Cultural Center…read morecampus. There is free parking it the large lot. Admission is also free but donations are accepted. I didn't realize until I visited that the museum is located on land that was once the home to Cherokee Indians who were forced to leave in 1830 by the Indian Removal Act. Many ended up in Cherokee NC as they escaped by the Trail of Tears. I like that the museum is trying to reserve history. The museum wasn't large although I think I missed the permanent collection and just saw the current exhibition which was great. I enjoyed seeing the work differently looking at it from different angles. I wish I was given more guidance if more work was on the second floor. But I can check it out next time. The work presented does focus on the big issues like climate change; social justice; women's rights; and immigration. So if these types of issues are important to you, I think you will enjoy the art created by these artists.

The treatment I received at the front desk was quite upsetting The staff member was rude and made several snarky comments, including negative remarks about the Greenville museum. while the layout is great and I enjoyed the space, there were several issues with upkeep. Many of the exhibits--specifically the trains, the cars, and the turtle operating station--appear old and worn. Additionally, the story nook on the lower level was a mess upon our arrival, and there was a noticeable odor in the building. While I appreciated that the museum was not overcrowded, the lack of cleanliness and the poor staff attitude were significant drawbacks to our visit. Bring your own hand sanitizer as they have hand sanitizing stations they're not refilled or they were not filled when we were there, which is a sign of no upkeep

I noticed my total was more than expected and I asked her if she took off the coupon. She said she did for one person. I told her it would be for up to 4 people. She told me no. I asked her to check the coupon again and she saw what it said and "huffed" and went back to ask again. I honestly thought it was pretty rude! They have two stories. It's not a ton to do but my kids were entertained. They were more entertained downstairs with the water table more than upstairs. The bathrooms were clean. There were a lot of spots to do pretend play as well. Parking is on the street if you can find one or in the free lot across the street.

We'd like to stay for more music, but we're leaving and going elsewhere to eat and drink. Owners: Wake up! This could be a gold mine. I just don't get it.
