Outpost is not the address on the website- read the fine print! 2. Fill out all your paperwork online before you arrive! They don't have any signal to do it there and they don't have paper copies. Plus their iPad died for us to do it there. It was a headache! 3. They didn't have enough people working which added to the time we had to wait. The staff were overwhelmed and not able to keep up with everything. There were atleast 20 people behind us in line and I hate to know how long they waited!

I can't remember the exact price, but it wasn't cheap from what I remember and I think it was a 2 hour minimum. Pricing aside, we had a good time. The Catawba River isn't the most scenic place to kayak, but there are some nice branches off it it where you can spot lots of turtles. The employee that helped us was very friendly and gave us some pointers on the best areas to explore. If you want to kayak close to Charlotte, check them out!

Besides, there is no better way to escape the heat of Columbia in the summer than taking a ride down the Congaree River. It was a manageable waterway that's suitable for first-timers and enjoyable for all, and Kevin was incredibly attentive, patient, and encouraging throughout the ride down. Everything is provided for you -- kayaks, paddles, life vests, and even bottled water. Just remember to dress light (shorts and a tee) and bring sandals (preferably, because sneakers will take several days to dry out) that you don't mind getting wet.
