    It's been a while since I got a badge!

I wasn't sure what to expect. I will say it's better than I anticipated. The set up seems pretty efficient really. You land and enter on one side of the airport and arrive, enter, and depart from the other. This makes things pretty easy for customs and such. There are three terminals now and another one is being constructed as I type this review. Our driver told us all about it on the way back. Very chatty dude! I had been warned about all of the predatory tactics by the taxi and ride folks outside so I was prepared and not bothered by them. If you come here, take note of this. You can and will get scammed if you allow yourself to become a victim. Luckily we had prearranged the rides and were looking for very specific attire as well as signs for us to find. Just note this as others have said over and over. I will say it again for those in the back! There are tons of people waiting out front trying to get you to use their services. Those services vary a great deal in scammy/usefulness/end up dead in a ditch. Don't do the last one. No Bueno. My departure was interesting as we did not know what gate we were going to until about 10 minutes before boarding. Luckily the place is not that big so it was not an issue. We got there a couple hours early when we were leaving. There is plenty to do and lots to see while here. Have no fear! Consumerism is alive and well in Cancun Mexico! The whole place runs on it! Margaritaville is always a good time if you partake in the libations. They have a Guy Firebird or whatever there too. The duty free is only a deal because of reduced taxation. I found the items to be slightly higher than normal retail, at least for liquor. All in all it did what I needed it to do. Fly in, fly out, not get searched on the way in, or the way out. Not sure if I will come back to Cancun or not. I may have had my fill. We will see if I can score another 100% paid vacation next year for work! If so, I will see you again Amigos!! If not, it will be ok! ;) '26 - 51

Arriving in Cancun is smooth sailing. It's a well run airport in my opinion and my family and I never have any issues. From deplaning to getting our luggage was 40 minutes at max. Just have to know what you are doing to avoid the timeshare sales sharks that act like they are trying to help you find transportation and they are just salespeople. It was that way in 2006 and still that way today. My family and I know to walk by them and go directly to where transport is outside the airport doors. Getting through security and checking in was also less than 15 minutes. Probably the smoothest we've ever seen. We've seen long lines prior to 2020 but 2026 was sooo smooth. Unfortunately that meant we had three hours of waiting at the airport for our flight to depart.

Airport is gigantic and crowded, but I guess it is normal since a lot of people have to go to Cancun and are coming back from Cancun I was in Morales and I really loved my wedding vacation at the ( Marguaritaville) Hotel

The only negative I would have to say is leaving the airport you get bombarded with people trying to sell you transportation, book it ahead of time with a reputable company & not someone at the airport. Outside of that everything went smooth going through customs on the way back with the new face technology there's no more stamping of your passport. The airport is clean, tons of places to eat & shops if you forgot to buy something, all duty free. On the way home the restrooms didn't have water so they had to bucket water into the toilets, I believe this was a temporary issue.

I understand this is a huge tourist area, but to be bombarded at every single step is too much. From the moment we got off the shuttle, we were inundated by people trying to take our luggage to help us inside. It would not have been a problem if it were just one person coming up to us, but it was several people, back to back, continuously even though you could see someone was already helping us. This pattern continued all the way to the escalator before security/TSA. Once we got through security, the store associates overwhelmed us by trying to get us to come into the stores. It really was much too much.

Overall, we had a great experience going through this airport. *Always make sure that you have a good rate conversion app on your phone. Use it to make sure you are getting a good deal. When you leave the airport, be aware of all the taxi, share sales concierge, and tour sellers. Use your app! The airport is clean, lots of shops. If you are buying tequila or other products on your way back to the U.S, use your app, prices will be high. Very straightforward airport, very well organized. Immigration was quick and friendly! It is a good airport, just be prepared!

Extremely easy to get through the first pass of customs (as another user noted, they do ask what your flight number is). Baggage took roughly 40 minutes from landing. Walking out from customs, there are a lot of people that will try to flag you down and say that they work for tourism to direct you the right way. It sounds great at first and they actually do have pictures of the shuttles you're looking for, but the advice is incredibly generic and inevitably will lead to an upsell on tours or excursions. So, just keep walking. Shuttle pickup is right outside. Also ignore all the guys offering taxis. I suggest pre-paying for a shuttle. We used USA Transfers to get to Akumal and it was about $200 round trip. The airport is definitely a place to sell things to tourists. Just keep going until you get to where you need to be. From a Departures perspective: I love that every kiosk can be used for any airline. The US should take notes. Unfortunately nothing like Pre-Check and you do have to remove all electronics from bags. Tons of duty-free shops but somehow none of them sell ANY Mexican teas? A little disappointing, I spent a solid hour looking and only found French teas. Overall, decent airport, feels a bit dated and VERY touristy.

We flew into Cancun for a quick getaway and found the airport rustic but friendly. Arriving and trying to find transportation was a bit chaotic, it took about an hour to secure a ride. Prices from the airport are more than double what it costs to get a car back to the airport, which feels like a strange system. We went with it though, since we were advised not to take chances with other options. The gates were very crowded, but check-in and security went smoothly. The airport lounge was quite small, but we were still glad there was one.At the end of the day, it's the gateway to paradise, so it can't be all that bad.

The food prices are out of control. The restroom for men are small. Very crowded. Not enough seating for most of the gates. No drinking water dispensers.

Most frequently visited airport when in the area ! They've made a few changes since I was last here and it's great ! It was freezing so be sure to bring a light jacket or blanket . Plenty of good food options and shopping as well .

short lines, relatively clean airport, easy immigration....no complaints. Not sure why there are so many complaints.

The first thing you notice is how long the walk is after getting off the plane. The hallway seems to go on forever, so hopefully you do not need a restroom right away because it is a trek. Customs itself was surprisingly easy. We scanned our passports and got through pretty quickly, although the machines seemed pretty finicky and took a few tries for some people. The biggest downside is what happens after customs. The second you walk through, it turns into nonstop sales pitches. First, you go through duty free where it feels like every few feet someone is trying to stop you to buy something. Then after clearing customs and declarations, you walk into another area packed with people trying to sell tours, hotels, transportation, and excursions. Finally, once you make it outside, you are greeted by what feels like a thousand taxi and transportation companies all trying to get your attention. The airport itself is functional and the customs process was efficient, but it can feel overwhelming and chaotic once you leave the secure area. Just be prepared to politely say no a lot.

Personally, I always pick Air Margaritaville because the service is dependable and the food is decent. There is also a Bubba Gump's and more. There are places to buy snacks for your flight. There are "duty free" mega stores with everything you can think of. There is a shoe store! There is even a Ray-Ban store with crazy prices (think Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer sunglasses Gen 1 for $700 when Sunglasses Hut USA retails them for under $299). There are lots of Mexican souvenir shops, but also with crazy prices. Tshirts were in the $32-$42 range. Even fridge magnets are $7+. There is ALWAYS a line for restrooms. Cleanliness varies by location. Mera Business Lounge sucks. Always a line - unless you are paying. If you are using your credit card perk for entry, they won't have a place for you. Paying $35? Go right in! Pretty much everything here closes between 7-8pm. If your flight is delayed or later than 8pm, there is no place to get food or drinks. Plan accordingly.

You need to check the screen or your phone for updates/change. Your flight will appear on the screen within one hour from boarding. So this makes the airport pretty quiet compared to the USA airports. Bathroom was clean and had somebody attending the bathroom. The gates are good size and chairs are comfortable! As on any airport, buying water or any snacks are very pricey. Highly recommend this airport for traveling to/from Cancun,MX.
