I had an amazing experience here accidentally .. please allow me to explain lol! I was scheduled to leave Cancún but my flight had been cancelled so the airline accommodated me and my partner to this hotel. Our previous hotel left a lot to be desired, so this was a very welcome change. From the entrance way I was impressed with the decor walking through the garden and pool area I was in awe of how beautiful everything was. The room was immaculately clean, and while it was a standard room it was very nice and spacious and the marble flooring was such a nice touch. The shower was huge !!! We got in late so I assumed finding food would be a struggle , wrong again they offered 3 dining options late night as well as room service!!! The restaurant we found had amazing drinks and the food was so fresh and good ugh ! The restaurant was Cafe Urbano . The next morning we woke up and we were able to have a delicious breakfast with plenty of options including fresh fruit and let me tell you that in room coffee is also amazing! I honestly cannot wait to return to Cancun. I would definitely stay at this resort again. I've stayed at a several of hotels in Cancun and this is on the list of must return!! read more

CONCIERGE REVIEW FIDEL: Fidel at the concierge desk provides an exceptional service to this hotel. In addition to being professional and quite pleasant, Fidel is a problem solver. That's someone I will take on my team anytime. During our stay, we had several glitches, and Fidel provided a professional outlet for us to express ourselves while maintaining brand standards. He has a difficult job and does it very well. BANQUETS REVIEW My friends hosted a Private pool party at Presidente InterContinental Cancun in August went on without a hitch. The pool area, cabanas, and buffet stations were immaculate . Despite the rain, we had a fabulous time. One star deduction for not being prepared for my food allergies which the catering/ banquet staff was aware of for more than three weeks. Thankfully, the staffed hurried to find two items that I could eat. They covered for the below par communication and made it work for me to have a chicken breast and two slices of steak which were both cooked properly and were flavorful. We spent a whole crap ton of points for one room. It is definitely not anything to write home about. It has 2 beds that are comfy. It is clean. But for as much money as it was you would expect it was going to be something amazing If you are just staying here not on points, they charge you per person in the room Breakfast is not included in your stay. You do however get a bottle of water. I guess that is something. They don't provide shuttle service to their hotel from airport. And taxis are way way way way overpriced out here be forewarned. It's really a shame that I have to leave a two-star review for this hotel. As Diamond/Spire members at IHG, we've stayed at hotels all over the world and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case during our stay at this hotel. First of all, it's worth noting that the hotel is currently undergoing either construction or renovations, which was evident from the strong paint smell in our first room at the end of the hallway on the first floor. When we returned to Cancun at the end of our trip and were assigned a room deeper into the hallway right next to the renovations, the paint smell was so overpowering that we could barely breathe. We tried opening the windows to let in some fresh air, but the chemical smells were so strong that we were actually choking. We asked the front desk for help and were disappointed by their lack of concern and their reluctance to relocate us. As IHG members, we generally expect more from the brand, especially when they recognize our status, which didn't seem to be the case during this stay. It took a lot of complaining before we were finally moved, and we even had to be moved again since they originally wanted us to just move a few rooms down into a dirty room with a dirty coffee maker and sink, along with askew paintings and stuff on the ground. In our opinion, the entire floor should have been shut down due to the hazardous conditions. On the plus side, the location of the hotel is decent, and there's valet parking available. The lobby is nice, and the pools are excellent. The restaurants are okay, though somewhat pricey. All in all, it's a shame that our experience at this hotel was marred by such callousness and disregard for our health and safety, not to mention the dirty room we were initially offered as an alternative. read more

HOUSEKEEPING STOLE $200 FROM MY ROOM! This has been the worst experience I've ever experienced from a hotel and I never expected this from such a high end hotel because I would think they would hire loyal and honest employees. The day of when this happened, the house keeper knocked and then enter the room while we were inside, we told him to come back tomorrow that we didn't need the room to be cleaned today. We went to the pool and came back to the room and the beds were made which means that he still came to clean the room even though we had told him that we didn't need the rooms to be clean until tomorrow. When I checked my passport which is where I left my money inside, of $200 and then change of $1s, $5 and a $10 bill. The $200 were missing which mean he left the change of $1s, $5 and $10 but took $200usd. Housekeeping were the only ones that enter my room and left even though I had told him not to come today! No one else entered therefore my money was stolen by housekeeping. The hotel did absolutely nothing about this complaint, according to them, they asked the employee that entered the room but he obviously lied and said he never stole any money from the room. So in other words, its basically his words over the customer which is why I'm very disappointed the IHG headquarters complaints department didn't help either! read more

We only stayed at this hotel for the night, but our one night stay was so relaxing it made us wish we have stayed here longer. The private beach area is phenomenal, plenty of seating, beautiful views, and only occasional vendors. The service from the staff was great, it was prompt and very customer focused. We did not dine at this hotel, we just stayed here for the night and enjoyed it the beach area. Everything was clean, from our room, to every space we discovered on sight. It is FAR better to go all inclusive. ****If you think booking here is "cheaper" you'll end up paying way way more for literally EVERYTHING ELSE.. consider yourself warned. My only complaint is the main pool bar.. the hotel is making a big mistake here.. this is the main place for drinks for the beach and pool.. it is single bartender coverage, lots of people waiting to order, they ignore you the entire time .... And drinks cost $10..Also the same bottle water that are free in your room are $5 here.. We stayed here 7 days and moved to an all inclusive resort the last 4 days .. Just had a WONDERFUL 5 night stay at this Interconti. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure, most everything was a 5 star experience. The people working here are both friendly and extremely professional. I checked in with Cecilia on the IHG members' desk. She was exemplary of what a concierge should be. I was so pleased that I had been upgraded without asking. ( I booked Club Level King Room) The suite on the Lagoon side was beyond awesome. In non pandemic times, I stay over 100 nights a year in hotels, since the mid 1980's and this had to be a Top-5 room for me! During the day, the views were good. At sunset and at night, they were spectacular. I also have to add, the floor was extremely quiet, which is fantastic. Everything was extremely clean, too. The club lounge is really just a glassed in area off the lobby. It has an outdoor terrace where I chose to sit every visit. The hotel has now enlarged their breakfast offerings to more than just continental and even has an omelet station! No need to breakfast at a restaurant. The lounge is perfect for all tastes. Miguel took great care of me each morning, seating me outside and having a place ready for me before I arrived. The property has 2 pools. I am not sure they designate the one as the "adult pool," but it seems to be. The pools and pool areas are immaculately maintained. There are lots of loungers and umbrellas. My one complaint on this visit was the shear number of children. They were loud and crying and screaming and running. Even my noise cancelling AirPods could not drown out the screaming children. I watched one mother change a dirty diaper literally on the edge of the pool! Ewww! From that point onward, I found a place at the "adult pool." I had asked and was granted a 2 hour later check out. This was very helpful, considering my flight was at 6pm. At check out, everything was correct and it was fast. While waiting for my shuttle, the bellmen kept an eye out for me. Ferdi had even remembered me from previous stays! I will be returning in 3 weeks and will look forward to returning where I am treated as family! read more

My wife and I are very impressed with IHG presidente and their entire staff! 10/10 for everything. We travel to different resorts around the world and this place has it all. The prices are a good value for how much you get to enjoy here. The beach and the view are one of a kind and perfect. They clean the sargassum very well, there is a lot of sand and no rocks. The water is just as clear as the pictures. The restaurants offer a large variety of options and everything we ate is delicious. You can experience the dishes of the region as well. El caribeno is our favorite. Every dish was delicious and the service is amazing. My favorite is the whole fried fish and the cochinita pibil. Hard to pick a favorite though, there is so much variety it would be unfair to compare different dishes or pick favorites. The rooms are very clean and the view is amazing. We hope to return here next year (hopefully sooner) to IHG. I highly recommend it to travelers looking to pick from the many hotels in this region. read more

The hotel is in a good location as it's at the upper end of the hotel zone. We were in a club level room and it was worth the upgrade. The view is amazing (somehow no mosquitos), room was large and comfortable, and access to breakfast and happy hour kept us fed. The ocean access was wonderful as you can go snorkeling and it felt safe. The pool water was warm the entire time we were there so don't think you can cool off in it. Had a message at the Ikal Spa and it was just ok. The spa lounge had a hot tub but no cold plunge. The bathroom was bare necessities and it was better just to shower back at the room. read more

This resort is fantastic! We stayed a week, club intercontinental is the way to go. Breakfast bar with omelette station and fresh pressed juices perfect! Happy hour had great nibbles and drinks. The beach is amazing and plenty of space to spread out. The pools are super clean and large, never felt crowded. Now the staff! They are exceptional! Ricardo and Miriam at the deck bar took such good care of us. Drinks on point and always ready to help with anything, felt cared for. We moved from the adult pool to the beach and they always knew where we were and met our wants and needs. We dined at Le Cap a few times, great food and options! Mariano and Guillermo took great care of us! Such thoughtful crew and always ready to help. They keep it shipshape too. During the day if we were at the adult pool, Ruben and the ladies there at le cap cafe kept us in cocktails and water! Now in the lobby bar, we had great cocktails and nightcaps. Air conditioning was so refreshing . Happy hour bartenders were great! Always trying to help us with our Espanol, the wine wasn't that great, but they can make you almost any cocktail! Our room was beautiful overlooking the ocean and the pools. The housekeepers were fast and always kept us in water and towels and after sun gel. Turndown service is lovely. The ground crews are amazing and always busy and quick to smile and greet you. They keep the outside immaculate! The restaurant the Caribeno was great authentic foods and Raymundo took great care of us and always greeted us if he saw us around. Sure cocktails and food at the restaurants are a little pricey just like being at home, it's not inclusive and we knew that. The breakfast and happy hour has so much food you do save there. It is a wonderful laid back resort, great for romantic couples and families. This is off season, so it gets a lot busier during summer. I'm sure I've left out some tremendous people who helped create a wonderful relaxing vacation for us, I just hope they know how much we appreciated everyone. read more

We stayed at this property for about a week in a king club suite with ocean view (room 536). While we found the lobby and shared amenity spaces to generally be modern and nice spaces, we found the rooms to be dated and our room in particular to be unfit for guests to stay in due to mildew mold issues emanating from the HVAC system. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk staff we were told there were no other rooms available to move us to and that they'd attempt to repair the HVAC system. Technicians arrived and did work on the system; except they made it worse. Instead of having multiple fan speeds the AC was reduced to a single speed and the strong mildewy scent persisted. They did supply us with a portable but very loud dehumidifier but this did nothing to remove the smell. We were told to return to the front desk on day 3 to see if another room would open up. We asked to speak to the general manager but Valeria left us waiting for 40 minutes in the lobby while the general manager attended to something else. We asked to have management reach out to us but during our stay no one ever did. The indifference to our poor stay leads us to the conclusion that we'd never stay at this property again or IHG properties overall. The suite was also awkwardly furnished with some low grade Holiday Inn seating. As you'll see in many many reviews online, the rooms are very dated in design and yet they continue to go untouched by the hotel chain. Scents of raw sewage emanate from open metal grating areas near the large pool and gift shop due to the restrooms using open sewer drainage. For nearly $4,000 for a week stay, we'd definitely stay elsewhere if we ever returned to this area and you should too. There are better places to stay on a similar budget. I will say that the buffet breakfast was quite good. But front desk staff need to be trained to properly educate guests on which dining areas are included in their stay. The larger party we stayed with had similar confusion on which dining areas and buffets were inclusive with our stay and the front desk did little to map out the property and highlight amenities upon arrival. Overall, a swing and a miss for this place. read more

First time going to Cancun and didn't want to stay in an all inclusive resort because I wanted to explore. I loved that it worked just like a hotel. They did have a resort fee but that it was reasonable not like Vegas!! The beach was amazing!! Beautiful white sand, clear water, and perfect bar location. The staff were amazing!! The check in was easy so was the checking out. Their travel/ excursion desk were super helpful and made booking easy and trust me it can get overwhelming when you go and try to do it all on your own. Loved how clean and beautiful everything looked from the lobby to the room. I would definitely stay here again. Yes there is a damp smell to it but what can you expect when humidity is from 85-100%!! But the bedding, towels and everything was clean and smelled fresh. The views, the beach, the staff, the convenience of having a bus stop and a convenience store around the corner was perfect! read more

We visited during Covid, safety precautions were in place a temperature check was done upon arrival and a questionnaire was filled out. Hotel they say was only 30% capacity which seemed correct as there were not very many people around. All the staff wore masks at all times. Guests needed to wear a mask in certain areas Most guest complied indoors, there were a few times that I did encounter guest without mask particularly on the elevators. Once outside you could take your mask off. The room was comfortable we were spire members and we were upgraded to a lagoon view but it did have two queen beds they did not automatically upgrade us because we had originally asked for a king bed but the king bed had no view at all and was on the very first floor, so we did take the upgrade for no charge to the fifth floor with a lagoon view. I actually like this for you because you could get the sunrise and the sunset and it was a more active year with the buildings in the background. The beds were comfortable I had no complaints there it was actually nice to have two queen beds because we got alot more pillows. The bathroom had a very nice shower with a rainfall showerhead and a handle which was very nice. The minibar, is empty because of Covid right now so you can actually use that for your own personal use which was great. We had taken some of our own beverages. There is still daily housekeeping in these rooms also which was a pleasant surprise. The beach is simply amazing for the area it has a pretty large beach and plenty of shade and Bali beds that you can " rent" They have a total of four and I would say don't go for bed number one bed number two is probably the best, which is what we had. The deal is you pay $140 of food and beverages throughout the day for the bed. You have it from nine until 6 PM we were out from 9 AM till about five 530 each day we did it for two days in a row. We initially thought it would be hard to spend $140 in food and beverage but,The one day we got breakfast and then kind of spaced out our meals throughout the day and our drinks and we were able to make the 3000 peso requirement each day. The food and beverage prices are rather reasonable for a three day weekend we spent about $500, which I don't think was very bad for two people that didn't really hold back on drinks or food. We eat at the various restaurants throughout our stay that are on the property and we did not have one thing that we didn't like. The guacamole and the jumbo shrimp cocktail were probably our favorites. Drinks Did seem a little low on the alcohol content but that necessarily wasn't a bad thing. Elezar was our server on the beach and he kept us very happy throughout Saturday and Sunday The pools were very nice we did not get in the one pole that seem to be like an adult Pool They do have cabanas back there as well that you can rent. They have a deck bar with cute little swings. I was very happy with all the service at the hotel. Everyone was nice and attentive It was also good to see that they have plans in place for hurricanes. We were updated via letters in our doors as to an impending hurricane. They evidently do not evacuate until a cat three, hurricane zeta was coming but only a cat one they removed all of the beach furniture and anything that pretty much wasn't nailed down on the night before. We were leaving out the next day so thankfully we did not have to witness anything but it was good to know that they have plans. This is a great resort if you want to try Cancun for a first time. It's not an all inclusive but it certainly still can I have a feel of it and it has the most amazing beach and wonderful staff. I got my boyfriend to finally go and he had an amazing time. read more

Beautiful resort! Location: This resort is fairly priced, 20 minute drive from the airport, 15 minute walk from Hotel Zona(where you will want to go everyday), and has a local(Sea Bus) stop right in front(this only costs you $1USD to ride the strip to one end. Room: The rooms are beautiful. Both sides offer a great view. If you have an even number then you have the view of the beach. If you have and odd room number then you have a view of the city. The walk in showers were nothing short of amazing! The water gets super hot and I loved it. The room had robes, mini fridge and slippers. Every night they come by and drop off chocolate mints with a goodnight card which is cute. Excursions: The excursions that were offered at the resort were doubled the prices so it was more feasible to outsource ex. Expedia and Airbnb (yes they will pick you up from the resort). Beach/Pool/Restaurants: Beach is so beautiful and peaceful.The sand is super soft. There are watersports available which are fairly priced. The cabana's are available for rent 9am-6pm(after 6 its free to use). The drinks are fairly priced as well. There are two pools and four whirlpools , but no jacuzzi :( Restaurants offered great food and one restaurant offers dinner on the beach which is beautiful. I highly recommend the Intercontinental Presidente Cancún. Getting sick in another country can be daunting but picking up the phone and asking for first aide was quick and easy. To know that someone can help in a time of distress is everything. Their grounds are perfect, their pools impeccable and under duress they sent a medic to take my temp and ensure my needs were met. The rooms are modern, clean and smell amazing! This is the only hotel we'll stay at and the staff are hero's. read more

We came in late September/early October for our honeymoon. Overall, we had a great vacation here. The staff was all very friendly and we had a gorgeous suite with a view of the ocean. The waiters were great at all the bars and restaurants (including Abel and Miguel!). The pool was nice, we loved the small jacuzzis on the side, and the ocean was calm and a great temperature. The sand doesn't get hot, which was awesome! The all-you-can-eat buffet brunch with egg station was one of my favorite meals of the day. The spa team gave a great couples massage, and they had someone on staff to give us a free COVID test for our return flight home. The housekeeping team was always very thorough and we never really saw them- somehow they figured out our schedule and adjusted. Although we had a fantastic week, there were a few areas where I think they could improve. The first is communication- we had a few questions before we arrived and had trouble getting responses. Once we arrived, there wasn't really a central place to locate information, such as what restaurants were open when, etc. For the spa, we found different menus online than they had in person, and so on. We couldn't figure out easily what room ervice we could order early in the morning, for example (it said room service was 24/7 but the breakfast menu started an hour or two after we needed to eat for an early excursion). We also saw a COVID insurance package advertised on their website (where we pay a small amount per day in return for a room to quarantine if we caught COVID), and when we asked them if we could purchase it, there was a lot of confusion. We kept having to go back to the front desk to ask questions, although after a few days we pretty much knew the deal. But it made navigating and planning some things a bit confusing, which really didn't seem necessary. Our only other complaint was that while they were tasty, the beach drinks didn't seem like they had any alcohol in them. I'm not sure if they were being watered down, but we could drink several without feeling like we had the equivalent of a glass of wine. We didn't care too much, since we were mostly there for the experience of having a tasty beach side drink, but it felt a bit less than ideal. Overall, I am glad we came here for our honeymoon, and I would definitely be back. I think if they could address some of the smaller issues, it would go from a good to a great place to stay! read more

I can't say enough good things about the Presidente. We were looking for an affordable hotel in the Hotel Zone, but didn't want to settle for a place that was dirty or old. We definitely found what we were looking for in the Presidente. Our lagoon view deluxe room with king bed and breakfast cost us $162/night. Man, oh man. From the moment we set foot into the lobby, we fell immediately in love. The hotel is modern, clean, and staffed by incredibly friendly and professional people. Check-in was a breeze. Because we did not choose an AI package, we left a credit card on file with the front desk so we could make charges to our room. Our room on the 7th floor was just as beautiful as the lobby. Everything was incredibly clean and modern, the bed was sinfully comfortable, and the giant windows with heavy blinds meant we were in complete control of the amount of natural light we wanted to let in. The lagoon view was no where near as nice as the ocean view, but we couldn't care less. My only complaint is that the bathroom door was like a sliding door you would find on an Ikea bureau wardrobe, and it doesn't close all the way or lock, so privacy was limited. Guests are given Wifi access for 2 devices per room, which is annoying, but not a deal-breaker. The resort has 2 beautiful shallow pools, multiple restaurants/bars, a spa, and direct access to the beach. There are lounge chairs and cabanas next to the pools and on the beach, and waiters from the hotel bar would come by to take your food/drink orders and bring them straight to you so you never have to get up. On the first floor, there is a travel agent whose job is to help visitors plan their excursions. We showed up one day, discussed our options, and reserved and paid for our excursions on the spot with a credit card. It was painless, and so much more convenient than doing your own internet-research, which for me yielded way too many options that I had a hard time narrowing down. Our room price included breakfast at their restaurant, El Caribeño. Although they call it a continental breakfast, they offer so much more than muffins and cold cereals. Meats, cheeses, fruits, Mexican specialties, pastries, an omelet bar, and SO. MUCH. MORE. We did not miss a single breakfast here during our 4-night stay. We also had dinner here one night, which wasn't nearly as impressive, but still decent. Seriously, I'm so in love with the Presidente and can't wait to go back. read more

A disgrace to the brand name of IHG! The last thing you want on your vacation is to waste a whole day trying to check in and be downgraded to a room. When I book and pay for ocean front suite with outdoor showers, I expect my room to be better not be put in standard section! So even though you adjusted my rate, it still doesn't make up for me waiting 4 hours to check in only to be downgraded. Why overbook if my first question! You ran out of rooms that I paid for, how is that even possible! How is it possible to blame the system. How is it possible to ruin a vacation we spend months planning for! You can't but a value or money on it! Yes you brought the rate down, because u didn't have a room we paid for, but there is a reason we paid for the room, we wanted that particular experience. A logon view didn't cut! Anyway, as a platinum elite member of Intercontinental group of hotels, I am really disappointed! And guess what, everyone at the hotel we interacted with were disappointed with front desk and service! We were at the lounge a bunch of us were all complaining... when 3 out of 3 group of ppl say you screwed up on them too... you know the issue is more than just you, it's the staff and incompetency! This is a very lovely resort! It was my first time staying here and I absolutely loved this place. The rooms were stunning, clean and spacious. I really loved the electronic blinds in the room! The hotel is very clean, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is access to the beach without a very long walk. There are water sport activities on the beach and most importantly not many kids. They have several pools and hot tubs. I took advantage of the spa which was nice by the way.. and the food is amazing. If you venture outside of the resort, you are close to shopping and bars along the strip. There is public transportation that runs constantly up and down the strip. I ventured out but I enjoyed myself more in the resort. The workout room is awesome and it overlooks the pool. The beach area is really lovely. TRULY. We got the ocean view as requested on the 6th floor. The room was cute.. nothing special, but bring lots of extension chords and multi-jacks for plug-in capability. The room, including the bathroom, only has two accessible outlets for electronics. Check in was for 3 pm, but we didn't arrive until 4:30 pm. The lobby was empty , and our room still wasn't available until almost 6 pm. Allowing for the language difference, things were still very very slow.. Vacation is a lot about the food... I didn't like much, so I kept ordering the steak quesadilla over the week we were here. The guacamole is really good to me, but everything else was a let down. Breakfast is weirdly awkward. Get to the counter and order your omelet. Be prepared for this to take a long time. The other food is also served to you. But it's ALL cold. Asking for butter and syrup, condiments even in other restaurants on the property, will leave your food almost inedible. In short, eating is simply for fuel. Not for enjoyment or indulgence. We paid for daily excursions off of the property, but the day we stayed on property was painful. Prepare to be hustled at every stop. Kids rode on jet skis or rafts all day, when we approached, from the largest palapa, we were given one price, then asked to pay more. Maybe my kid wanted to ride the next day??? Why try to hustle for more money today?? We loved being on vacation... but just not sure if this was just as good as it gets. ‍ We don't have a return flight scheduled after 7 days because we thought we'd be inspired to keep traveling across Mexico... got a feeling we're going back Vegas after this... We also didn't get picked up for our excursion this morning from "Get Your Guide" to go see several Cenotes. Miraculously, no one can help and no one answers the phone. They were happy to take our money. Trust NO ONE at the concierge or excursion desks. They hustle ever drop... and then completely underdeliver, if at all. Fabulous hotel. By FAR the longest and prettiest beach within 1 mile each direction. Other beaches are washed away, or rocky and the hotels cram in lounge chairs. This beach is super spacious, service is excellent no matter which restaurant you are at. Daily service at the pool and beach was excellent. Concierge and entire staff was wonderful. A little further away from the nightclubs but we were looking for a relaxing vacation so it was perfect. Will go back and continue to recommend to all. Recommend walking towards Faro lighthouse for a sunrise picture. Walking towards the beach turn right and follow beach until you reach the 2nd pier at Riu hotel. read more

It's a great facility with excellent amenities. New tower and lobby area, pool, beach, etc are all great. I was there for a few days mid March and the only negative is the norovirus I contracted. I spent all my time on property so I am confident this was the location it was transmitted. Another concern was the smell of the shower water which had a sewer smell. They were working on the hot water during my stay and hot water wasn't available from 11 PM to 5 AM each day I was there. Funny I didn't hear about the water issue when checking in but shortly after I arrived at my room. I of course used bottled water the whole time even to brush my teeth. I started feeling off after my 2nd day and had a felt tired and sluggish after getting out of bed in day 3. By the time I flew home I was starting to feel worse; chills/fever, diarrhea, nausea no appetite etc. since being home I have been confined to bed haven't been able to eat for a week and nothing close to solid movements since. After a few days of being home my fever broke but the other symptoms still persist and I'm down 15 pounds. If I was hefty that might be a silver lining but I'm generally 12% body fat. I love the IHG brand of hotels but this time it turned out to be a bad decision and costly as I've been useless all week, and am praying I can get back to work on Monday. I won't write off the IHG from this one experience but the 4 day vacation has cost me 5 additional days (and counting) back home. read more

We visited here for 2 nights while Quintana Roo was in COVID condition Yellow. We were very impressed with the sanitary precautions requiring gusts to wear masks everywhere except in the dining areas and pool/beach area. Hand sanitizer available everywhere We are Platinum Elite members and were upgraded to an 8th floor king room with an beautiful ocean view. The room was very nice, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a glass wall that looked into the bedroom but with a sliding shutter if you wanted privacy. Only complaint was the occasional lack of hot water in the shower - tepid water only but was not too bad. We ate a few meals at the hotel restaurants and it was mostly good although the pizza was pretty disappointing. Food and drink prices are expensive for Mexico but not bad for a nice hotel. There are plenty of other less expensive dining options outside of the hotel and it's easy to take the bus anywhere in the Hotel Zone for 12 pesos. The wait staff at the restaurants and at the beach was all very nice and attentive The real gem of the hotel is the pool and beach areas - 2 large swimming pools and probably the best piece of beach in the Hotel Zone. There is no public access to the beach so it was nice to be able to avoid the beach vendors which can be a hassle when you are just trying to relax . They also had a falcon with a handler to keep the sea birds away. This is a great hotel when coming to Cancun with a beautiful beach and excellent staff. Highly recommended! read more

Intercontinental Presidente is at the end of the hotel strip/zone of Cancun. This hotel is more family friendly and are for those that are really here for some relaxation and resting. Lobby is beautiful with open sitting area and restaurant. Has 2 pools and the beach right at its backyard. Just make sure you don't sit near the fountain in the lobby as it is deceiving to be an area to sit, but actually part of the fountain. Rooms were your typical rooms, but overall clean with their recent renovation early this year. The best part of this hotel was actually the concierge that offered great deals and excursions that pick you up right in front of the hotel. (Note, some buses cannot come up the hotel driveway and would require couple steps down to the bus station, which is also convenient just couple steps from the hotel!) Overall, great steal in Cancun if you're not into the whole spring break party scene. Almost forgot, they keep count of their guests so if you leave the premises at night through taxi, they will ask for your room # so I felt safer. P.S. Coconut bought at the hotel is much better than street vendor that walk around the beach. It's more refreshing as it is kept cold and they cut up the coconut meat for you at the end and you can eat it! read more

I spent 3 weeks here on vacation. I really enjoy the amenities of this hotel. However, it's not perfect. It's a very loud hotel even at minimum occupancy. The house keeping staff, while very good are also quite loud from 10am until 4 pm. If you're sleeping off a hangover, go lay on the beach. The facility is very clean and nice and the staff are caring and helpful. Amazing pool. Best beach in the Hotel Zone, room service and hotel food was 8/10 in most cases. Jeremy the bartender is a sweetheart and I've thought of him several times since I left because he made an impression. Things I have not had an issue with here. Parking Free bottled water Reasonably priced food Always service when you ask for it- often not timely; but rather generous and courteous After spending 10 days at the Barcelo Maya resort (awful resort just south of Playa Del Carmen) this week and last, I would give this hotel 6 stars in comparison. Came during the busy Christmas-NY period. Friendly staff, daily housekeeping, 2 bottles of water put in room each day. The hotel restaurants have different options, the bar is fun (swings and deck chair seats), and the beach drinks/dining service is good. The guys who do the beach and pool service are great and it's a busy time of year so they are in-the-go all the time but always happy to help. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and chilled. On the beach they have cabanas you can rent for about usd$220 for the day. The hotel is away from the main touristy busy area of the hotel zone. We walked less than 10 mins to a supermarket to get a few things. Hotel also has a travel/tour desk and Belgica is a superstar at suggesting trips to match what you want. We also got our airport pick up and drop off done through her. During covid times each guest who is at hotel gets a test before flying back home! Would recommend this hotel. read more

I recently spent three nights at Intercontinental Presidente and I was very impressed. Though our room was on the first floor (bummer and a rarity) it was still a pleasant experience. The pros: - Nearly all of the staff spoke English and Spanish - Housekeeping cleaned the room exceptionally well - Staff was always ready to help with a smile - Food at both the breakfast buffet and Cafe Urbano was very good, though next time I would book a package with the breakfast buffet included since I presume it would be cheaper than paying $20/pp - Drinks were reasonably priced - Sand at the beach was insanely soft The cons: - WiFi was not good at all (not on the first floor, anyway) - Two device limit per room was a bummer (especially if it is more than one person) and there was no budging - Took about an hour for ice cream room service (they said 20 minutes) Though I'd likely opt to take the all inclusive route next time in Cancun and try a different hotel, Intercontinetal Presidente was a great choice for reasonably priced (yet lovely) accommodations with beach access and walkable (~15 minutes) to the center of town. read more

Just got back from a 4 night stay. Overall we had an amazing experience here. We bought the Club package for an additional $120 which upgraded us to a ocean view room on the 6th floor and included a buffet breakfast and evening dinner buffet between 6-8 PM. This was defo worth the $120. Checking in/out: The bellmen were very friendly and helped us carry luggage. Checking in and out was simple and easy. No frills. The reception area/lobby smelled strongly of an air freshener throughout our stay, which was overpowering and smelled like aftershave. Hotel room: The room was spacious and clean. Terrific view of the beach. Great sized private balcony. TV had some sound issues but they fixed it quickly. The mini fridge was locked because we chose not to leave our credit card on file at the reception. Shower was a good size and the water pressure was medium. The room was cleaned multiple times during the day, and included new coffee, 2 mini chocolates, fruit and a bag of ice each day. The room came with electronic blinds, which was a nice touch and nice smelling shampoo, conditioner, etc. The bed was comfortable however there was a sound that repeatedly knocked during the night - due to the wind - that kept my husband up. I think it was an antenna on the roof. The doors leading to the balcony also rattled with the wind during the night. Beach Beach was amazing! Sand was cleaned nightly and the beach huts have power outlets for phones etc. the water was amazing - totally clear and flat. No waves. Beautiful! Beach bar: The beach bar was the best place for food and drinks. Service was a little slow but worth the wait. We ordered the ceviche and the fish and shrimp tacos which were really amazing!!!!!! I would order all your food at this bar. They also serve free nuts and pretzels if you ask. Free Breakfast buffet (with the club package) Overall it was great. It's a small selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, and scrambled egg which changed daily to include bacon, sausage, tamales etc. the quality of the food was solidly good and you won't go hungry. Free hors d'oeuvre buffet (with the club package) This was rather small and featured a selection of hors d'oeuvre/small savory dishes that were typically one serving, along with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. This food was generally ok but won't fill you up - so plan on making other dinner plans. Le Cap Beach Club: This was by far the worst experience at the hotel - we dined there one time and ordered salmon sushi as a starter, prosciutto pizza and a gyro wrap. The sushi was inedible- they should just take that off the menu. The pizza was just a plain pita with 1000's of chopped tomatoes and prosciutto. Very basic. We did see lots of people on the beach ordering food from this place so maybe we just had an unusually bad experience - however it was shockingly bad! Pool: There are 2 pools. Both are quite small and shallow. The water is very clean and coldly crisp. There is no loud music, which I really liked. They have four jacuzzi tubs which are the same temp as the pool. The larger pool is very close to the beach bar, and there are plenty of umbrellas and sun loungers. I really enjoyed floating in the pool. Overall almost everything at this hotel was beyond great - except the Le Cap Beach Club - and I would consider staying there again - my highlights were the room, view, beach, pool and the fish/shrimp tacos! read more

This is our 2nd stay at this hotel and we cannot recommend it enough. It is located on one of the best beachfront spots...clean and beautiful. No seaweed and no bad smell. The pool and grounds are impeccably clean. The rooms are spacious and more importantly clean. Hotel staff is also very nice and accommodating. read more

There're lots to like about this property: location, the beach, view, etc. However, there were many disconnects in both service- and staff-level during our 5-night stay in August 2019: 1) I took my mom to Cancun to celebrate her birthday, as it would be her first time visiting Mexico. I relayed the info to señor Humberto Santos, who was kind enough to furnish welcome gifts of fresh fruits and chocolate covered strawberries. While the thought was very much appreciated; the execution, on the other hand, was flawed. We arrived around 8pm, much to our surprise, the chocolate covered strawberries were being feasted by enthusiastic ants; the fruit platter, however, was covered with seran wrap, so free of ants. Which one would you rather eat? 2) I usually prefer a room away from the elevator and noise. For some reason the front desk assigned us to room 420, which was smack in the middle of the building. You might not know this, there's about an eighth inch gap underneath the door, so whenever neighbors opened/ closed the door or a cranky kid crying in the hallway, we got front row seats to the action. 3) while our room had a gorgeous view, the cleaning lady liked to set the temperature to 20C, which was around 67F. I had previously raised the temp to 22.5C one day but didn't notice this change. While we sleeping, it got so cold I had to cover my head with the blanket so my asthma would stay under control. 4) I paid an extra $80/day for the lounge access, which included breakfast and evening happy hour. Surprisingly, my room key didn't work. I had to bang the glass door of the lounge to get someone's attention. 5) the front desk called around 3:40 pm on Sunday, 8/11, to see how things were going. While I appreciate the effort, we were in the middle of a siesta. So let's just say that the conversation was short and concise. 6) around 9:45pm on 8/11, as we tried to sleep, people in room 520 seemed to be having a fight and moving furnitures. Had to make two calls to to the front desk to make them stop. ‍‍‍ FYI, the walls and floors are paper thin, for those of you are light sleepers. 7) on Sunday evening, we booked a parasailing tour (for Tuesday morning @ 10 am) at the Best Day travel desk in the lobby. The agent told us that the sail, which costed $130 USD for two of us, would be 25 minutes long. The actual air time, which I clocked, was 12'26". So approximately $10 USD per minute. Best Day engaged in deceptive and false advertising, as far as I'm concerned. When I told Andre, the front desk manager, he said nothing. Overall, not only our stay was not only disappointing, but it also left us with bitter taste in our mouths. Ritz Carlton, which's just 15 min away, looks like a better option for my next tip to Cancun. At least their staff are trained to accommodate and bend over backwards. read more

They actually helped a lot cause we were taking taxis everywhere. If you stay in this hotel dont exchange currency in the lobby. Across the street to the right is a place where they gave us 3 pesos more per dollar! Make sure you select the breakfast package if booking on Expedia. It is worth every penny. Beach was beautiful and really calm. Bed was super nice. Very good place to stay! read more

One of the oldest and well established hotels in the area, this hotel is located in Playa Caracol, arguably one of the best beaches in Cancún (there is an advantage to being first!). The hotel has been kept up very well and feels fresh and modern. It offers multiple restaurants and bars, my favorites being the Caribeño; located under a giant palapa. The Deck bar, also under a palapa offers lighter fares with amazing beach views. The hotel has two large pools, the main one offers four integrated jacuzzis. The rooms range from ok to great, depending on the type and view. I stayed once one night in one of the standard rooms and found it claustrophobic; small and no balcony, although facing the beach (a regrettable design flow). I upgraded the following day to a Club room, and it was well worth the money: twice the size, balcony facing the beach, and complimentary access to the club (breakfast and evening cocktail service). This is my fourth stay, and I'm planing to return. read more

I would give it 5 but I don't think I'm going back only cause the food is not included and we ended up spending a lot of money on food inside and outside the hotel. It's not geared towards kids. It's more for friends and couples. It's beautiful and super clean. The lobby is very beautiful. read more
