You've probably Googled the "pinhole" procedure and are considering paying thousands of dollars…read moreout-of-pocket because you hope for a less invasive gum graft with a quicker recovery. This is not that. My surgery with Dr. Nemeth was the most traumatic medical experience of my life. The gums were sliced away from the bone, packed with donor tissue, stretched back over the teeth and sewn with stitches in a figure eight pattern around my lower teeth and lip, with knots poking out of my lip. Now, over six months later, I have permanent nerve damage (loss of sensation in my lower lip and chin), and excessive scar tissue in my mouth where my gums were stretched and sewn. I also now need a procedure called a vestibuloplasty to create space between the lower lip and gums but my new periodontist and neurologist say that doing this would further compromise the damaged nerves. To add insult to injury, my gum recession has returned to where it was before and all of this did nothing to stabilize the teeth. I will likely need a traditional gum graft using tissue from the roof of my mouth - the very procedure I was hoping to avoid by going to Dr. Nemeth for the pinhole procedure. Since Dr. Nemeth asked me for this review less than 24 hours after my surgery (and after every subsequent follow-up appointment), I assume he wants his patients' experiences to be known. I hope my story helps at least one prospective patient re-evaluate their options.

Scared and very uncomfortable, I made it to my scheduled appointment for a cleaning. The entire office is full of amazing photographs taken by Dr. Warr himself. You feel like you are in an art gallery. My mind and body started to relax. The much needed cleaning was painless and pretty easy. Michelle explained everything along the way, including the new technology x-rays and cavity scanning device. One of the highlights was the cherry paste. It wasn't like the gross tutti fruitti or bubblegum I've had in the past. It was actually a delightful flavor. Then comes the moment of truth. Even though I had no cavities (holla!), there were some blemishes I needed to get taken care of soon. Dr. Warr had room in the schedule and completed the procedure right away! Dr. Alsaidi saved my life. Bone infections can kill you. The infections had spread, and I found out that there was no other way to treat bone infections, except extractions and bone grafts. I lost a lot of teeth, because of poor dentistry. That was almost 3 years ago. I am now finished with all of my work. Healthy bones and implants, all thanks to Michigan Gum Docs, Dr. Alsaidi. He is kind and caring and so is the staff. Through all of this, my son was married, I lost my mom, and became a grandmother. Not only did Dr. Alsaidi remember all of this, he always wanted to know how I was doing with everything. He cared about me as a person. I was not just a patient on a chart.
