Cold industrial lighting highlights towers upon towers of consumer goods, neatly packaged and smelling of plastic. The building itself could house what feels like the entirety of West Hartford. Security is present, multiple times we were checked for our Costco card. The deals are good, not exceptional. Example: dyson supersonic is the same price on Dyson.com, and has far more colors. I love selecting my items. Then, reality sets in... CHECK OUT. Then this Disney creation turns into the saddest place on Earth. It's sad to see folks so reliant on the items wait in the cue and then pack their cars - only to have to unpack it at their business - and I dread those putting shellfish in the trunk in the heat of August (I hope they're wearing Resto gear, etc) so I can choose another place for clams... I love it. The prices have gone up, there's less and less delta from what a foodservice distributor will cost. But I do enjoy selecting some items (especially produce) myself. Just... Torrco is…read morethe ONLY company from which I would never consider purchasing plumbing fittings; here's why: In our last home, we had to gut renovate three bathrooms and almost everything we needed came from Torrco. Unfortunately, they promote a partnership with the high-end American Standard brand, DVX. People, this stuff is absolute garbage. One example: a shower valve and fitting was replaced THREE TIMES by Torrco/DVX and never functioned properly. They finally offered us a full refund. But they wouldn't actually mail the refund check. I was forced to follow up time and again, asking where things stood, either being told it would be resolved "tomorrow" or some other delay tactic. At last, I wrote to the owner/CEO of Torrco (he works out of this location in Waterbury) and explained the whole thing to him. Guess what? No response. So now I understand that everyone who works there is simply following his example: provide a terrible product and then duck responsibility, hoping the customer will grow tired of the runaround. Good CEOs are concerned when a customer is unhappy. Bad CEOs hear a complaint and decide to go golfing. There are so many competing options that you can hardly go wrong by choosing any other supplier than Torrco. Unless, of course, you enjoy being sold crap products that are then followed up with a total lack of customer service. If that's what you like, by all means, call Torrco.

It's like a Disneyland full of trays, pots and pans, mixing machines, ice makers, bar equipment, pizza paddles, ovens, fryers, griddles, bar stools, slicers, and pretty much anything you have ever seen in or need for a restaurant. I don't own a restaurant, but I definitely developed a greater appreciation for what it really takes to operate one. Wine glasses, bowls, plates, cutlery, fry baskets, big knives, spatulas, gloves, bowls as big as a witch's cauldron, bathroom signs, dining room chairs and barstools, slotted spoons, whisks, chef clothing, big pans and serving trays, coffee stations, chopping boards, a tortilla press, even French Fry cutting machines. We saw them all. And then there were the huge things like deli showcases and enormous dough mixing machines that reminded me of land locked cement mixers. What a fun time we had wandering the aisles and gawking at everything. I've truly never seen a store like this before. Its open to the public and no membership is needed to gain entry. So what did we buy? We replaced an old plastic one pint measuring cup that was getting impossible to read. The new one ($3.99) is very sturdy and super clear to read. We also bought a nifty 10-cut pie and cake marker ($5.99) that will come in handy on Thanksgiving. We had a blast !!

Customers beware ! I threw my parents a surprise 30th anniversary last weekend and had rented a…read moreportable bar from the Wolcott Party Plus for $79.99. I was dealing with a guy named Mike(possibly the manager/owner?) and we agreed that I could try to get the rental returned by either Monday or Tuesday this week, as this rental required a truck to haul it. It was clearly understood that I needed help from my friend that has a truck. Come Saturday, Mike gave me a call and the tone he conveyed was very bossy and I swear he was yelling his words like "I just wanna make sure you understand it needs to be picked up soon!" I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he's just a little nervous on the timing. We picked it up before 1 with no issue. During the party, the bartender I hired had used the ice storage compartment in this cheap plastic bar, and pointed out that there was a leaky water drain spickett that was faulty and kept leaking water all onto the floor. My bartender had slipped several times and even fell one time. Come Monday, I get a call from Mike yelling at me again saying I was supposed to drop it off on that day, even though he agreed by Tuesday the latest. Come Tuesday, he calls again asking when the bar is being returned. I told him my friend was able to drop it off no later than 2:30pm. I was appalled when he responded "WE CLOSE AT 2!!!" I explained to him that the timing was out of my control and that he understood I do not own a vehicle large enough to get it back before 2pm myself. I told Mike that my friend could drop it off in back, but his pissed off anxiety stricken tone didn't want to hear me out. He said "if you drop it off in back and it gets stolen overnight THATS ON YOU" and "I'm gonna need to inspect it when it does get returned to make sure there's no damage." That's when I told him that there was damage on the leaky spickett before I ever rented this POS and the problems it created at the party, particularly the hired bartender. His voice became timid after that and didn't wanna talk about it as he ended the phone call less than a minute after. To top it all off, my friend called me at 2:15pm saying that it was dropped off but nobody was there and took a picture of where he dropped off the bar in back. I never received a call or text from Mike on Wednesday, and honestly I've never had such a terribly unprofessional experience from a business like this in my entire life. Many of my friends and family couldn't believe how awful this place is and everyone I've shared my experience with agrees that this place should not be in business. I hope Mike turns to God or even Anger Management.

They have large storage facility in the back of their store for all their tables, chairs, etc. The prices of their party supplies inside the store are okay but not the best I have found when visiting in the past. This time around I ordered some tables and chairs. When I went to pick up my chairs/tables they had me drive around back to pick up my rentals. They help you load it up and have you do a final signature. Very friendly staff and they double check to make sure you have everything you ordered. The products were in all fairly good condition. The following day when I returned my rentals the two guys I spoke with were very polite and let me know that I had to finalize the return inside afterwards. Within ten minutes I was all set and on my way home.

I started buying from Tony when he worked at Male Image. Then I was buying a lot of clothes when Tony worked for Shultzy's Head to Toe. Tony bought Shultzy's Head to Toe and renamed it Tony's Mens Shop and I continued to buy clothes from him. Tony keeps up with the latest styles in high quality clothing from socks to suits and everything in between. My visit this past week was no different. I went to see Tony because I needed an outfit to wear to a wedding this coming Sunday. I'm not going to wear a suit to the wedding, which Tony found odd because he knows how I like to dress. But he took great care of me with the one outfit and then proceeded to show me more great clothes that I couldn't resist. I have a difficult time restraining myself when I'm at Tony's Mens Shop.
