Her name is Katie Golly and SHE IS FABULOUS!!!! Katie is a true natural talent in the field of psychotherapy. She is not just a great therapist, but a very genuine person and a real source of personal support. Katie is especially keen on helping those of us who are LGBTQ and is a true friend to the entire community. You will find no judgement here but instead total and complete acceptance of who you are. Not only has my experience with Katie been excellent but the office staff is friendly, polite, kind and compassionate. The physical office itself is beautifully decorated with all sorts of cool colors and textures and shapes and just has fantastic energy from the moment you walk in! After that, I was afraid of seeking her guidance. So while 90% of times she was helpful, the unpredictable snaps made it very hard for me to continue on relaying information to help my daughter. She also doesn't take feedback well unless it's exactly what she expects to hear. For example my daughter told me she didn't enjoy therapy and when I told her that she automatically pointed the finger at me and said that I had caused it to happen. In fact I never even blamed her for that. I very much just wanted her to know that and it could be simply because therapy brought up issues my daughter wasn't ready to confront within herself yet. I just hope Dr March can understand that the way in which you communicate to parents matters. We are people too. We seek you out because we want what's best for our kids. We are not perfect but neither is anyone. Aside from this, she's smart and caring and I wish all the best for her and all the children she helps support.

At the cornerstone of Main St. Psychiatry's practice is Joanne Parks, M.D. In my opinion Dr. Parks is a highly skilled psychiatrist. She brings a myriad of skills including a very extensive medical background. She brings warmth and empathy to her patients Dr. Parks has helped me feel safe and able to grow. She validates patients'feelings . I believe Dr. Parks treats her patients, her staff and other parties with respect. The person I spoke to was so nice and accommodating. I was able to go over with her my insurance information, and she explained what the next procedures would be. She sent me a questionnaire via email just as she said she would, and that I was to complete it and either send it back or bring it with me to my appointment. I was so happy I did that so that I didn't have to feel rushed completing it at the office. I went to the Barrington office which was closest for me, and easy to find. Parking was good. The front desk receptionist was very nice, everyone had masks on, and my wait wasn't long, before the doctor came to get me. I met with Dr. Karafa and his assistant. Both were very welcoming and relaxed me immediately. After going over my questionnaire and asking a few more questions, his assistant and I went to another room and began testing. She was as sweet as could be, and made me feel very comfortable. I was there a total of two hours, which went by fast. It was recommended that I bring someone else with me, but my husband had to work and I was by myself. It worked out just fine that way. Dr. Karafa scheduled a time and date for us to go over his findings via telephone, and he called me exactly on time and answered any questions that I had after thoroughly going over my report with me. The professionalism, honesty, real and genuine concern was how things were handled. Dr. Karafa was outstanding, while meeting with my daughter he was patient, kind and helps her to do the best she could. The dialogue was open, direct and the way results were explained to my husbands and I helped us to understand what is going on with our daughter, and what our next steps should be. This was very stressful for my husband and I to talk our daughter to do but we knew it had to be done. I am so glad that our doctor steered us to the Thomson Memory Center and that we are working with Dr. Karafa.
