I called NIRC on a Sunday morning just before we were driving our family member to the hospital for detox. A kind gentleman named Dominic answered the phone and gave us a plan for the immediate future. This was not the only facility we called but it was the only one that stayed in touch as we negotiated the hospital stay and where to go from there. Three weeks later our family member was released with a firm plan for sobriety and tools to use for attaining that goal as he moves back to Chicago. Those of you who have been through situations like this know it is difficult ... to have him safe and HEARD during his stay gave us all time to recover and plan for the future.
