I would give negative stars if I could. we brought our 16 month old here for a bump on his heel that the pediatrician said we needed to have looked at. The "Dr." came in and said she did not think it was a wart of callous and looked concerning as being possible cancer. She said a biopsy would be the only way to know for sure so we agreed. The medical assistant failed to numb the area, she gave my son multiple shots in his heel while he screamed, most of which was spraying out the other side because she pushed the needle all the way through. They said after the numbing he wouldn't feel anything. The Dr. came back in and began cutting the lump off and our son went ballistic, halfway through she said "I think he can feel this". The medical assistant left and came back to say that another Dr said they should have added saline to the numbing agent so it was more effective and proceeded to fill another shot up. The Dr then asked if she could continue to cauterize it (my son is still hysterical at this point). While looking at the sample the Dr then said, "hmm maybe it was just a wart". We refused any further treatment from this chop shop and left. It is unreal that they would allow someone so inexperienced to see a child and put him through that when she clearly had no clue what she was doing. Stay away from this place. read more

My wife has radiation induced fibrosis among other skin issues. Dr Barr prescribed a bleach/water bath which was agonizingly painful for my wife. Early Monday morning I left a message requesting a different course of treatment ( a cream or pill) for my wife. Tuesday afternoon a staff member called me and I repeated my request. Early Thursday evening the staff member called me back and stated that Dr Barr would not give us another course of action unless we had another office visit. This is unreasonable and uncaring. Apparently Dr Barr's practice is so successful that it takes 4 full business days to get back to a patient. Since my wife can't get relief without another exam, we are looking for a less successful doctor who can get back to us sooner than 4 business days and is willing to offer alternative courses of action if there first guess is wrong without demanding another co-pay and forcing me to lose another day off from work (my wife is unable to drive due to serious disabilities). read more

Dr Menghesha is the best doctor I've seen of any dermatologist ever. He Is extremely professional and knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner so if you're nervous he'll make you less so. I've been seeing him for years and although it's sometimes frustrating getting an appt when you need one, in the end they usually come through ...especially if you tell them it's pretty urgent. You can even tell them to put you on their waitlist that week and how long it will take you to get over there and they will try to fit you in. One time I actually went on the wrong day to my appointment because I was so busy and traveling so much, and Dr Menghesha made time for me in between patients who had appointments that day. I'm very grateful to have a doctor of his caliber. read more

I have one star because I could not give lower. After several diagnoses with Klein (not sure if still at Surprise location), I began to be suspicious that he was/is overzealous in excisions of "suspicious" areas. He plays horrible music, and was, in fact, cutting into me (biopsy) with the James Bond theme playing, then cauterizing the area, all the while humming in my ear. There was no compassionate response when I was shaking, crying, unable to speak. Creepy was the only word I could think of. After this, I went to another dermatologist for a second opinion. A team of several pathologists looked at biopsies in 6 places he was going to cut out (including one on my face). The new pathology lab team found NONE to be worthy of excision. NONE! He would've cut into my face! Further frustrations include the inability to get calls through, no way to leave a message, hours on hold. I am currently in a billing dispute as I have made payments that have mysteriously not shown up. I emphatically do NOT recommend this "practice" as there is an abject lack of compassion, no customer service, and no apology will come for you when you are also faced with these challenges. read more

I don't usually complain or leave reviews. Leaving one means I'm either really blown away in a great way or in a bad way. This is bad!!!!!! I realize working in the medical field can be difficult but that doesn't give license to be unprofessional, rude, and threatening. I received a referral for my daughter from our primary care provider for Affiliated Dermatology in Surprise. First it took three months and a few phone calls just to get a response for the referral. Once an appointment was made, it was six months out. I was very specific with my needs. A single parent who works, is a teacher with very little leeway to take off from work for an appointment. I let the scheduler know that my mother handles all the doctors appointments because I cannot take off work. I was told this would be fine. A form would be sent home with her first appointment. Yesterday was her appointment. They refused to see my daughter because I wasn't present. When my mother questioned it they told her she needed to leave. My mother tried to make another appointment for when I could be present but they refused and would only make another appointment if "I physically showed up with identification". Literally, quote unquote on that one. My mother told them that was ridiculous and they told her to leave or they would escort her out. Now my mother does not like making a scene so she quickly left. While all of this was happening, no one from Affiliated Dermatology tried to call me. When I called them to complain and demanded I get a response, of course, on one called back. Before, being a teacher I spent 20 years in finance working for an international bank, an industry very heavy in customer service. This office needs lessons on customer service and communication. Clearly we need to go back to elementary school to learn the basics of good behavior. While you are doctors and we consumers need you, you and your employees do not have the right to treat people like criminals or dirt on the bottom of your shoe. This is truly a zero star review but I couldn't post if I didn't at least put one star. Steer clear of Affiliated Dermatology!!!! read more

Okay. Not great. Everyone there is super nice, however I've gotten the wrong advice twice now. Before this location I went to Deer Valley and had a "doctor" that was downright rude & mean. So much ch so I called back later and told the office manager about the visit- she was also appalled. I wish the doctors were older than 25. Not happy. After receiving a post card in the mail that advertised a "free consultation" I booked an appointment for my teenage son. His face ache is really bad and we have tried everything. After finding out that the post card was advertising something else, I paid a ridiculous co-pay that shocked me, but that could be my fault for assuming derm is a covered service on my plan. However, we were in the room with Nathan, not even sure if he was a doctor, for a full 3 mins as he rambled off instructions and products so fast my head was spinning. Then flustered, because I could not remember a thing he said, I asked a more serious question about if his face will ever clear up and was told, "nope, at this point we can only prevent further damage." Now, I'm not asking anyone to hold my hand over my sons ache, but Nathan has no personality, no bedside manner, no care in the world but his next 3 min appointment. Very disappointed. I thought Dr's ere supposed to be smart ? People for those of you who think Dr's are miracle workers and are just busting out all over with intelligence you better check yourself because they are people too. People that showed an extraordinary amount of drive and discipline at one time period of their life sufficient to obtain the educational degree of Doctor.They become proficient in their area of expertice by "practicing medicine". Hypothetically speaking if there was a way for you to shadow a doctor who lets say did mason gastric bypasses. you attended these operation procedures regularly 1, 2 or 3 no matter how many a day until he the dr. felt you were competent and knowledgeable enough to join in eventually down the line sometime you would be able to perform the operation yourself. BTW a mason gastric bypass is mearly the reduction of the stomach capacity to hold food by stapling off a portion of it. So anyway their is nothing worse then being talked down to by someone who thinks they are better and smarter than you. Such was the case with the dr I had to see. We clashed right from the beginning because I really don't stand for condescending people. The DR. who thought she was helping me was ignorant as a mfer. She wasso ignorant she thought Norweign scabies was a geological affliction, meaning she thought you had to go to Norway to contract it. That aint what I had just discovered she didn't know she was doing through inquisition. My daughter and I are both seen for aesthetics at the Surprise location. The services we receive are provided using state-of-the-art equipment and with great care. The technicians are highly trained, experienced and professional. It's been wonderful and having the services delivered within a dermatology practice gives me peace of mind. The office is easy to find and super convenient if you live on the west side of the valley. I have also been seen numerous times over the past eight years at several of their locations for dermatology care. Having lost a dear friend to melanoma just a few years ago, I am grateful the Affiliated Dermatology doctors are so vigilant. When they found skin cancer on my calf, it was treated promptly and resolved quickly. Having a pharmacy right in the Scottsdale office was of great convenience. Because the practice is large, they can usually get you on the schedule pretty quickly. No need to wait months to get on the schedule like at other providers. This week, my mother and I had our annual skin checks with Dermatology doctors for years. N.P. Hope and Angel, at Affilifated Dermatology in Surprise, AZ who performed these skin checks for us this year were, by far, the most thorough review we have ever had. They had such compassion with the fact that my mother is now 90 and moves slowly, and, that as a result of my care for her, we had to schedule our skin checks at the same time. They were so accommodating, so helpful, so thorough in their exams -- we felt more confident in their care than we have with any full-fledged doctor. Hope and Angel provided the level of care and expertise we would have expected from a board-certified physician. From here on forward, we will only visit Hope and Angel. read more

I use to feel the Affiliated Dermatology was great- I have had a rash for over 1 year and never see the same doctor who says" they want to keep a close eye on my rash". I do not like the way different doctors come in and DO NOT KNOW my chart status! I am discouraged and would not recommend them to anyone! I have felt the past few months have been -come in -see a different doctor and we will tell you the same thing- you have a rash- we will see you next month. I leave and have a miserable time with the rash and no support! I have changed doctors after 1 year of Affiliated Derm giving me the runaround. So much for going back here, had to be seen for an emergency as my first experience with them and yes I got in and had my issue resolved. No estimate was given for the cost at time of service so 2 months later when I get a bill for almost 200.00 I call to break it up in a few months since I also have another bill I am paying that's in the thousand range. I am told no unless I want to pay a monthly fee as well as if I go to 90 days ( even on a payment plan they set up ) I will go to collections!!?? Never going back here ever read more

The doctor of choice for us is Dr. Mengesha- he is thorough, knowledgeable, caring and professional! After a couple of terrible dermatologist appointments around the valley I decided to try this one out as it's close to home. Scheduling was easy, but packed, so I had to wait a few weeks to be seen. They are very polite and take the time to learn and talk about concerns. Very in depth about educating and tending to my needs. The only issue I have with this exact location is that they do not do allergy tests so I had to schedule with a location much further away. read more
