I went to affordable automotive yesterday to get the car repaired. I told him that I had car insurance that pays for repairs. He was complaining they don't pay enough labor so did not call so up costing me $600 and then I called the insurance company and they said if you don't call when did installation is being done they don't pay you thanks for costing I will never go back. read more

I had a weird feeling about the place, so I had it towed to Bethel Auto where $150 dollars later my car is absolutely fine and running beautifully with NONE of the same diagnosis I got from Affordable Automotive. This was our first experience with Affordable and it was excellent. Our Kia Soul was locked in park because of a broken transmission linkage. We had it towed into Affordable Automotive after hours and they looked at it first thing the next day. Found the problem but, due to Covid related shipping delays no one could get one. They looked everywhere and managed to get a part after four weeks. Fixed it immediately and got us back on the road - for exactly what they estimated. Wanted my oil changed. Called and was able to get an appointment later that day. My car was brought in to the shop shortly after I arrived. Work was done in a timely manner. After a free safety/mechanical inspection during the oil change, I was informed of things that might need attention. This was done in a pleasant, non-pushy manner. We have been using Affordable Automotive for a very long time. We were one of Dimitri (the owner's) first customers. We had received good service. However, we recently got a code from AutoZone that the Catalytic converter was bad and that was the reason for the engine light that is on. We had the converter replaced last May 2017 and according to the paperwork, we were covered under warranty. We brought the car to Dimitri and were told that the code was showing, but they couldn't be sure it was the problem. Huh? We were told that we would have to pay a diagnostic fee if they proceeded. This does not sit well. We told Dimitri that we were willing to pay part of the diagnostic fee if it had nothing to do with the converter. But since the code was showing up, we didn't feel we should pay until we had a definite answer. Dimitri was unwilling to proceed with the diagnostic without us agreeing to pay him. At that point we expressed our disappointment and promptly picked up the car. We paid him $700.00 to fix that converter only a year ago and it should have been under warranty without ANY additional charges. We have been a loyal customer and put out thousands of dollars over the years for him to do work for us. Since he has decided to hardline it, we will NOT be using his services or recommending him any longer. He is the owner and could choose to be kind and uphold his agreement but he has chosen not to. I will NEVER trust this company with my car again. The mechanic and owner, Dimitri, did some work in the dash that was causing my car to have trouble starting, specifically the ignition switch- I paid nearly $600. The work was sloppy and the problem continued intermittently. Recently, the vehicle wouldn't start and after taking the car back to Affordable Automotive, Dimitri told me that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle and told me to pick it up. Of course, he charged me $95 for a diagnostic fee. Less than 4 days later I had the same starting issue, which he told me was a fuel pump problem- for this, he wanted me to pay $822 +tax. Partially because the cost for the work was too high, and also because I wasn't sure how much this man really knew what he was talking about, I decided to take my car to another shop- not before having a heated discussion about why I did not plan on paying him another $95 diagnostic fee. At the new shop, I was told that my issue was with the main relay and the ignition switch- NOT THE FUEL PUMP. I already had the ignition switch done a few months back- turns out Dimitri installed a used, probably junk yard part (of course he charged me for a brand new, supposedly original part). The used part is probably a part of the reason that my problem continued. I'm mostly angry, because Im now getting that ignition switch problem fixed AND the main relay for less than $500 right down the road from Affordable Automotive. Dimitri is a RIP-OFF artist, and deserves to be put out of business. read more

I've been here once. I got my oil changed and my brakes done. The service is friendly enough and seemed to be priced in the right range for the jobs done. They couldn't get the job done in one trip. Had to make one appointment to get the oil changed, brakes looked and another later so they could order brake parts and finish up the brake job. Probably not worth it for minor/common jobs. I'm willing to give them another go with something a bit more complicated that may need careful attention at a decent price (e.g., tune up, etc.) Updated: Went back for a check engine light: Dimitri fixed it within the day and did a coolant flush, all for a pretty competitive price. I absolutely love Affordable Automotive- everyone should go here! Rose greeted me with a smile and made it clear that they love their business. Dimitri was very nice and called me when something came up with my car. He was very honest and didn't try to get me to repair things that aren't important for safety. They did a lot of work on my car and I was expecting the price to be double. There is nowhere else my husband and I will go for our cars now. Run by Dimitri & his wife Rose this is the friendliest & most helpful auto repair place I have come across. Dimitri is a great mechanic, he will find everything wrong with your car but tell you what REALLY matters & what can wait. He's not cheap, but I believe he is honest. If you want the cheapest mechanic you'd better know a lot about cars. The waiting room is comfortable with newspapers, magazines & coffee. They've always been able to look at my car right away if I have an emergency. Too bad they don't have loaner cars though. read more

This place is great. The service is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Dmitri is a Grade A mechanic and does the work in a very timely fashion. I have never had to wait very long (except to return when he had to order parts) and he usually goes the extra mile to get it done as soon as possible. Nothing Affordable here!!! Charges a $45.50 just to check your car and then hits you with a $91.00 an hour labor charge. Then to top it off he charges an additional $8.00 for shop supplies. I don't mind paying a fair price but this guy sure knows how to charge. Did I mention his parts price are on the high side too. I wish I would of read the other reviews first because he is a RIP OFF artist!!!!! read more
