One star for replying to my query before other similar businesses did. No stars for consistent: rude language, borderline threats (me: does four pm work for you? Ben: DO NOT come before CONFIRMING!) issuing of unnecessary, boorish, and silly commands, ("PARK HERE!" again, for no reason other than to attempt to command others about in a vaguely threatening fashion) streams of self -important and rude complaints ("I JUST GOT HERE FIVE MINUTES AGO! " ...In response to nothing I had said whatsoever and a propos of nothing) and a needless bevy of excuses which are a waste of everyone's time (" I have SO MANY service calls, OK!", or a wordy, self-important and meandering speech about how valuable his blade cutting machine is and how it does not work properly). Ben charged over twice what competitive bids came in at, and I only arranged for Ben's services since he replied before the other businesses did. Ben was very, very unpleasant to deal with. Trust me, being polite with this man did not produce civil play responses in kind. After the rudeness and excuses simply didn't stop I flatly asked him to please just make the key and let me on my way. The excuses produced by Ben and the woman who left the home from which his business were clear attempts to deflect, project themselves as victims after victimizing strangers in the community, and only served to reinforce the self-satisfaction with which these two abuse those they have never met before. If you see similar behavior, please post here. You will also see his defensive, deflecting reply below: he did charge me twice what the competition quoted me at, and claims that those facts are lies. This man doubles down on bad behavior, and denies much of it. I am not the first to document this behavior here, see other reviews. Ben did a great job at reasonable price. Called him because I stupidly locked myself out of a rental cottage I needed to have open for a new tenant the next day. He quickly dealt with that and mentioned if I wanted he could re-key the locks so that only one was needed. I took him up on the offer after, which was was reasonably priced, and ended up having him re-key the four doors on our house while he was at it. I'm sure it was cheaper to have him do it all at once while he was out here, and now I've got one key for our rental (instead of two) and one key for our house (instead of four), all for quickly and done for a good price. read more

This guy was a total jerk. Was supposed to be at our house from 12-2, we called 3pm and then we were told in between 2-4. Showed up at 3:50pm. Talked to us like HE owned our house, and was cursing, complaining about our locks. We wanted to discuss our options and go get new locks ourselves and he did not like this. Was pissed when we asked him to put the locks back on since they couldn't be re-keyed and when we asked him to put the locks back on and he told us what he was going to do regardless of what we wanted. "I'm not putting my them back on, I'm here to re-key your house and that's what I'm going to do". He had cheaper locks in his truck he wanted to put on but we wanted the stronger, nickel plated ones. He even said "I came out here so I'm doing it" which is ridiculous. This is OUR house, we make the decisions and I couldn't believe that he would talk to us like that in our own home. At this point we just wanted him out. I even contemplated calling the police. He was at our house for 15 min and the whole time I was nervous as hell. Of course he charged us for a whole lot of nothing. We just wanted the best quality locks and it's his job to know what he is doing, not spend 10 min complaining about our locks which apparently are no longer made. Is that what locksmiths do? Not only will we never call him again, I'll make sure no one I know does either. Update: after posting this review we got a offending text message from the owner. I think business owners forgot that customers are spending their money for a service and being demanding or feeling entitled especially when your invited into someone's home is wrong.
