I told them when they showed up I only wanted them to load the large, heavy items. They started loading small stuff, so I had to pretty much direct them to each piece or they would start grabbing small items again. The younger guy (looked 17) was obviously new and couldn't lift my China cabinet, so I had to carry it out and back in. They were so slow, they badly loaded half the truck with a third of my stuff. I made them stop because I knew we still had to drive and unload. They parked the opposite of where I told them to park, so unloading was harder. Me and my friend basically unloaded half the truck just so I wouldn't go over 3 hours. They obviously pad time, like unloading the dolly and arranging the truck took both of them. Not good at packing the truck, slow with each item, training a new guy that can't carry heavy stuff, still cost $507! Worst movers I've ever hired! read more

Hired Rent a Vet early in 2022 to help us move from one house to another. Every part of the process was unorganized and the end result was disastrous. I could never suggest these guys for anything and am not surprised to see that they are temporarily closed until 2024. Here are just some of the many issues with this company: 1.) The movers arrived an hour LATE due to going to the new house first. Not sure how you get that wrong, but the day went downhill after that. 2.) Despite what I was told on the phone, the movers will not wrap mattresses, dressers, tables, or provide TV boxes. Apparently you need to request it and pay for it separately. I specifically asked the person on the phone about this, inquiring about additional fees and packing material as I was more than happy to pay. I was told that the movers would bring everything and charge us by what got used. Yeah, she clearly didn't know what was going on... 3.) They don't care about your belongings. Boxes were thrown onto dollies and rolled down stairs without a care. Lots of banging, sounds of things crashing, cracking, breaking... It was the single most stressful thing to hear. Sure enough, as we were unboxing things, we found several things broken. Christmas ornaments, several plastic bins and lids cracked and broken, china broken etc. 4.) We had closed off rooms they didn't need to be in. For whatever reason, they were wandering around the house, going into rooms we specifically told them they didn't need to be in. Had to reclean every freaking room they went into that they weren't supposed to be in. 5.) Halfway through the day, I offered to buy the movers Jimmy Johns for lunch, hoping that it would get them to move our belongings more carefully. They were more than happy to take the lunch, but were even more careless with the move afterwards. 6.) I really shouldn't have tipped the movers, but the guys seemed young and we were just trying to do a nice thing. I had asked how they wanted to get tipped, cash or Venmo/Paypal. They preferred the cash, so I had my husband (as I stood next to him) tip the guys in front of everyone at the end of the day. 20 mins after they left our house, one of the guys texted me asking if they would get tipped via Venmo. They were trying to dupe us into tipping them TWICE! I gently reminded them that they had already been tipped. Hope this place stays closed. read more

Hiring Rent a Vet was, unfortunately, a huge and very expensive mistake. This is a long review, but if you don't want to read it all, know this: We overheard the movers who unloaded our truck in total disbelief that we paid to have it loaded in. "You got screwed," was their professional opinion of Rent A Vet. I'll walk you through our day with Rent A Vet. They requested we rent a 26ft truck and buy 2 dozen blankets and tie-down straps. The 2-person team seemed confused from the start -- it was like hiring very expensive neighborhood kids who had never moved. We hired them to load a UHaul, but we were leaving furniture to stage the house so we labeled (think colorful signs) and showed/told them what to leave and take. One of us stayed with them to help clarify while the other watched the baby. No one would listen to a word we said. We'd explain "only this one thing is coming from this room" but you'd turn to help another mover and half the stuff you asked to be left was gone. After saying "leave the weights" we literally found dumbbells rolling around in a poorly packed pocket in the middle of the truck, breaking the corner off our headboard. We paid for the blankets and tie downs, but 0 tie downs and only 2 of the 24 blankets were used. From chipped desk tops to corners knocked off our bed, everything is as banged up as you'd expect. Less than half of our 3-bedroom house fit in the truck, but the movers in our new city said it was the worst packing job they'd ever seen and we should have been able to fit 50%+ more. They honestly didn't believe we'd paid someone for this, let alone $605. The work getting things out of the house was sloppy. For example, we saw one mover taking the TV off the stand dropping screws and letting them roll away through the house. We asked if he was going to get them and he sort of shrugged. Eventually my husband tracked them down. I'd say half the hardware was missing when we arrived, and some was found loose and scattered across the UHaul floor. Many boxes were put into the truck upside down, even though they were right side up in the house. This means every box had the heaviest thing now on top, including several boxes of my (clearly labeled) dishes. The icing on the cake was when one of them broke our garage door. We told them not to open it, as little was coming from there, but one did and then shut it on an open side door. It tangled the garage door cables and needed pro help. They puttered around trying to fix it themselves without telling us -- which cost us money -- until my husband found them. The company paid to fix the door, but demanded that I find the owner bids and get his approval first. We were on a move timeline with a rented truck, and the still-packed garage was stuck open. I was also watching a newborn during all this, so I asked for the owner's help to find a repair person. The owner said no, explaining in case they did a bad job so it would be my fault for picking them. I asked about what we should do with the stuff in our garage -- we had to hit the road, but we would need help to get it into the basement so we wouldn't get robbed. Or someone needed to stay with the open garage it until the repairman arrived 5-6 hours later. Again, they said no. We ended up clearing what we could ourselves and leaving the rest in the open. Overall, I can't recommend you stay away from this company enough. We hired them because we're a veteran family and thought we'd see a higher caliber of service. Overall, it was a $600 mistake that made a stressful move unbearable and broke tons of our furniture. We have to hire another St. Louis company next week to move the staged furniture and clearly must find someone else. read more

Rent A Vet to was able to move several appliances and furniture pieces recently. They were able to navigate a very steep and curvy driveway in Chesterfield. We needed these items to be distributed among three family members' homes, 2 in Town and Country and 1 in Creve Coeur. The Vet's were nice, agreeable, prompt, and professional. They seemed to work quickly considering the size and shape of these items being moved. The Veterans wore Masks the entire time. I would absolutely recommend and hope to use them again in the future. I recently used Rent A Vet to move from a small 1 bedroom apartment to my new house in South City St. Louis. They were very responsive to my questions over Yelp and email ahead of time. Kenny & Brayden called the day of to let me know they were on their way - they provided an arrival window of 9-10 and arrived around 9:30. I was very pleased they wore masks the entire time. They were quick and got the move done right at the 2 hour mark (which is the minimum you have to pay for). They wrapped some furniture pieces and a mirror to ensure they wouldn't be damaged. Very impressed they got the IKEA couch down the steps and into the new house without having to take it apart! Note for flat screen TV's: they must be in a box for Rent a Vet to move, this was communicated to me ahead of time. $110/hr + a $100 service fee. I would definitely hire again! read more

Worst "movers" that I have ever come across in my life. I would give them no stars if I could! * Started at 10AM - too late for an entire house move * The two, so call, veterans (NO CHANCE) showed up high as a kite strongly smelling of pot. * They took 40 mins to go 2 miles to deliver the 2nd truck. * I was told, minimum, that I would have 3-4 guys. They sent 2 guys to move AN ENTIRE HOUSE. * $1000 over the quote and it took 15 hours to move PART of my stuff. They didn't even finish our move and we helped them unload the 2nd truck full. WE HAD TO FINISH MOVING OUR HOUSE OURSELVES!! They also did not even offer to come back and finish the job! * Only wrapped 2 items with moving blankets. One of which was soaked causing damage to the wood. There's not a piece of furniture that did not have a gouge and/or scratch on it. * I started raining during the move and they did not cover ANY flooring. * Soaked boxes were placed on brand new WOODEN furniture. * None of our mattresses were wrapped * I tried calling multiple times - their phone says due to short staffing they will not be answering phones anymore to message them on their website. No answer and no response to their online forum either. * Left a message on my payment (Venmo) to the owner and no response there. * Refused to take apart or put together furniture. * Damaged appliances Oh the list could go on. In no way shape or form would I call these guys professional movers. I'm convinced they have friends and family leaving their reviews on google/yelp/etc. Steer clear of this company! read more

I am editing my post after I went back and saw things that were left behind. Several antiques that were suppose to be placed on the truck last were left. Two boxes with expensive kitchen equipment were dropped from the lift gate at full height- no conversation about it after the oops. Also, a antique glass duck was shattered because the basket apparently broke. The lead got an attitude with me after I became frustrated for the long delay driving to my new home. This was the second time I used this company for a move. They responded timely. The first time was a great experience. The second time was horrendous. The foreman of the 3-person crew, Desmond, was excellent. However, when one of the crew members walked into my house smoking a black and mild, things began to go downhill rather quickly. When I told him to get out of my house, he started talking back to me. We came to find out that the 2 crew members were found on Craigslist the morning of the move and the owner, Frank, didn't even know their names. They paid them cash, I assume, under the table. It took them 9-10 hours to move us out of a three-bedroom house. They only moved furniture. The first time, it took them 3-4 hours to move us. Frank couldn't have cared less. We had two movers with a truck on a Sunday, this past Father's Day. The communication we received from the time we requested an estimate until the time of completion was impeccable. We moved from a first-floor apt to a second-floor apt in a 100 year-old house. Our movers worked their tails off and were pleasant every step of the way. TL;DR: Wrap and pack your furniture, because they do the bare minimum. Damaged furniture is "bought-out" for pennies on the dollar. A nearly $600 price tag (tip included) for a 1-bedroom apartment with this level of customer service is a joke. -------------------- My dissatisfaction is with the owner. God help you if the movers damage anything of value during the move. Do they wrap boxes and furniture in stretch wrap?...absolutely. But stretch wrap alone won't protect from dings, scrapes, and cuts. I used a large moving blanket and couch protector to cover a $3,000 sofa (think Resto Hardware but made in USA) in preparation for the stretch wrap. The movers opted against using either saying they "wouldn't be necessary" and removed them. As the sofa was being moved out, the top of the sofa hit the door frame. Instead of stopping to readjust, they forced the sofa through the doorway. The door frame cut through the shrink wrap and into the leather leaving a ***7-FOOT CUT*** down the length of the sofa. I have before and after photos as proof. The owner has done little to assuage the situation, but here's what has happened: ( 1 ) Frank Habeebullah referred me to call FibreNew and get a quote for a repair. ( 2 ) I sent photos of damage to St. Louis City FibreNew agent (Christopher Angelo) to determine when someone could come assess the damage. ( 3 ) Instead of sending someone out, Christopher determined the sofa could not be repaired. "Damage looks too severe for repair. Matching all the color variations would be very difficult, but due to the damage to the underlying padding there would be no way to make the leather lay correctly again ( the puckering). Not something I can correct. Thank you" ( 4 ) Called back to Rent-A-Vet to leave a VM and connect with Frank. I was offered $150 total (some 0.06 cents per square inch) as a concession to the sofa and to take it or leave it. Do not trust Rent-A-Vet movers to adequately wrap and protect your furniture if you've put any sort of money into it. Period. Get everything you need from U-Haul and get a truck while you're at it, because for the price, I expected some level of customer service not found with their less expensive competitors. read more

We had a complicated move. Moving from a 1900sf house to a smaller apartment and also putting stuff into storage AND unto our garage for the dump. The guys showed up on time and they were very helpful and accommodating. We didn't know to take clothes out of our dressers and the y were very nice about that and didn't complain about going up and down two flights of stairs. The apartment high rise we were moving into had issues with the loading area and they were very cool waiting on having that resolved. I would highly recommend these guys for any move. We used them to move our daughter to an apartment which required picking up things at our home and a storage unit when they had to park aways off. I don't often write reviews...but. I hired Rent A Vet Movers to do my move. Frank (the owner) responded directly to me, the pricing was competitive, but most importantly he had 'grit'. That intangible 'get it done' attitude combined with a focus on supporting veterans had me sold. But I've had some bad experiences before even with the high end moves I've done cross country with Bekins etc. So I was hopeful, but cautious. Frank was previously in the Air Force, like many folks he lost his job in the private sector a couple years ago in the downturn. So he hopped on craigslist and did whatever it took to work hard and get by. Now he's growing, has a real business underneath his feet, and as you'll see cares about his reputation and the quality of his work. This is not a story about how everything went perfect, those are easy. This is a story about how a properly wrapped and blanketed piano still managed to snap a leg off of it. You guys know how I feel about my instruments. Every one of them has a history. Businesses are defined more by how they react when something goes wrong than when something goes right. First, the guys were super apologetic, and felt horrible, but made no attempt to deflect blame. They rang up Frank, explained what happened, and Frank made it right immediately. He went above and beyond anything I expected or asked for. It wasn't 18 claim forms and weeks of discussions. It was a notation on a form and a signature done on the spot. It's moving, things happen. No matter my sentimental attachment to something. So if you're in the St. Louis to Kansas City area, and you need anything from a small item moved around, to full home moves, to carpet cleaning, to clean outs and junk removal. This was the best moving service I have had yet. I found them from a referral from a co worker. The guys were amazing. They arrived on time and kept contact with me via email prior to the move and phone the day of. One of the vets injured his had during the move. With out skipping a beat the team had a solution that was in my favor and I didn't even know of a snafu until they told me. I love a company with good problem solving skills. Frank even showed up to see how everything was going. I notice mentoring within the team going on while they worked. The guys worked their tails off, even the injured gentleman. I found the the gentleman to be helpful, respectful, diligent, fast, and even friendly. To the costumers- get your movers drinks and even buy them a sandwich. If I could give this company more stars I would! 1000+ Stars! I did so much research on moving companies and asked around and read every review from every source before finally making my decision to use Rent A Vet. Scheduling a moving date was a breeze, it was all done via email. I was emailed a calendar appointment, and I was sent a reminder a day before. On the day of JR called and provided us with an ETA to the Storage unit. When we arrived we met JR who was incredibly friendly and professional. He was all business and went over everything with us. He made sure everyone was on the same page as far as how everything was getting moved and answered all of our questions. Afterwards the whole team got down to business. We had two storage units 10x25 and 10x15 that were packed to the top with essentially our entire house. It took me and my husband a week to pack it up. It took these guys a couple hours, and two trucks later they were ready to go. The team consisted of JR, Brandon, Tyson, Lacon, and Tommy. These guys were just beasts! They were able to move our 1000lbs 10ft long sofa into our new house without a nick on the wall. They unloaded in 100 degree weather smack dab middle of the day and I never heard a single complaint, or grunt, or comment from them. They unloaded everything into the new house and at the end they came and shook our hands and thanked us for the business. They were careful and meticulous and very organized about the whole loading and unloading process. This is exactly what I wanted in a moving company. I am beyond impressed with the service we received during our move. It was a flawless process that saved me and my husband time and energy. I can't thank them enough for all of their hard work. Do not Recommend at all! They deliberately take more time in order to get paid more. They charge by the hour. For a local move of a small 1 bedroom apartment that is less than 30 mins away, They took 5 hours and charged $800.
