I was forced into moving from my stair prone condominium to a single level home due to health issues. I was unable to lift, carry or even move around freely due to open heart surgery. Dielman packed everything including six sets of antique china, over 1,000 books and 20 years of accumulated art. Hired Dielman Moving & Storage to move out items from our apt, store for us x 1 mo at their facility, then move our belongings to a different apartment complex, the middle of June. From Ivy to Felix to the owner, Charles Price - all were courteous, very helpful and made us feel as though we chose the right company for our needs. 2 men - Robert & Charlie finished packing what needed to be moved from our current residence, to their storage facility and hopefully will be 2 of the 3 men that continue on with our move in June to our new place. I asked and was told that they work on a rotating schedule so at this time it's not certain that they will be the same crew that comes out on move day. Hope they are, cause they were wonderful! But, this company went out of its way to make things as easy as possible. The owner himself actually showed up for awhile to help the guys pack things up just to beat the rain. It was incredible. And, the price was more than fair. Every member of the squad was so friendly, and they expertly reassembled a dining room table that would be puzzling to most. I've used Dielman on several occasions over the last 10 years or so. Divorces, remarriages, in law move ins and in law move outs. I initially needed a moving company that also offered onsite storage facilities. Dielman fit the bill perfectly. Had items in storage for about two years and they were able to retrieve and deliver my furniture to my new location with little notice. Also, they were kind enough to take storage payments over the phone years ago. The staff has always been courteous and prompt. Some of the crew members have been the same movers on subsequent jobs. Even with their offices located in Missouri and our recent moves in Illinois, I trusted their company enough to be a repeat customer regardless of the distance (movers typically charge not only an hourly rate, but travel fine also). A friend on Twitter recommended Dielman for my recent move, and I'm glad they did. After soliciting quotes from several moving companies, Dielman came in with the lowest rate and also had great reviews. Charles Price, the owner, dealt with me personally, provided a good quote, and was willing to work with me when I waffled about whether he would need to move my grand piano as well. The contract was very clear about what they would and would not move and what we needed to do to prepare for our move. On moving day, the promised three-man team showed up right on time. They did a very fast but very thorough inventory and then proceeded to pack an amazing amount of things into their truck. Everything was wrapped & protected as promised. I had underestimated our belongings but the guys gave it their best try and worked with us to make sure all of the big and heavy items (the things we wouldn't be able to move ourselves) were loaded on the truck first. They were professional and fast. Unloading was a breeze and they helped put together our tables and set everything up just how we wanted it. They earned their tips and then some! Absolutely nothing was broken or missing. They were fast, professional, and the move came in about forty dollars under what I had figured. Please God, I don't ever want to move again. Dielman did not pack, move or store my goods. I contacted them for an estimate. The guy came by on 7/23. He said he would have an estimate in 'a day or two'. I emailed the company on 7/28 to inquire about the estimate. No response. I called their office on 7/29 and was informed that the estimate should be ready in 'one or two days'. By the way, I did NOT receive an apology for the delay. That was nine days ago and I have not heard a peep from them. That's my experience with them and the reason for a 1 star rating. read more

Used Dielman Moving to load our own rental truck that we were taking across country. We used two guys- John & Kyle and they were great! These two guys were friendly & professional & knew what they were doing. They really humped which saved us on time hence money which is always a concern when your paying by the hour. John & Kyle were very conscientious of ensuring our more delicate/ important pieces were handled with extra care. Using Dielman (John & Kyle) to pack our truck properly etc, was definitely one of those where you know it was well worth the money spent. We would still be there trying to figure out how to get all of our belongings to fit if we were on our own. I noticed some of the negative reviews as well as the positive ones but based on my experience suggest that you give Dielman a chance to earn your business. I had several conversations when booking this job with Dave (Manager) & he was very helpful asking the right questions to make sure I had all my bases covered and I even spoke with Charles Prince the owner when booking & he was very professional with following up with moving date. I hope my review helps remove some of the concerns because I must admit I was concerned after reading the negative reviews myself but am really glad I chose them. read more

Dielman just handled my move from University City to the CWE. They packed me up with a 2 man crew and carefully inventoried and wrapped everything for storage. They also were happy to carry out a few things to our cars that I was going to move myself but were too big for me to carry...like the tv. Then my belongings when to storage for about 10 days as I waited to close on my new townhouse and get a few quick projects done. Dielman was great about confirming both moves, and actually was able to load up the truck the night before the destination delivery so they could arrive first thing in the morning. Everything was put back together just as I expected, and none of the furniture had a scratch. The only thing that broke was my fault...I had a small ceramic candle holder at the bottom of a box without enough padding. One of the guys, Marvin, was on both runs...I think that was helpful when it came to putting things back together. All of the guys were great, but Marvin was fabulous. He was friendly and careful with my things, and was more than happy to move a few things as I tried to decide where they would look best. The only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is due to 3 semi-minor complaints. 1) My phone bid was way low. The guy on the phone with me completely failed to account for the time it would take to unload at the storage facility and reload for the final move. I was peeved about this. It's possible the mailed bid did have a more accurate number...but who has time to look at things like that in the midst of packing and moving. I assumed what I was told on the phone was correct. Still, the charges weren't unreasonable and I figure they were similar to other companies. BUT, I was originally going to do PODS and part of the reason I decided to go with the mover was because I thought it would be just a few hundred more...not almost double. That said, I think it was the right decision to go with Dielman which is why this didn't kill their rating for me. 2) The guy heading up the initial load promised that the labels they were putting on the furniture would be put on the back and would be easy to peel off. Not true. They are basic address labels and after a week in storage, they became shreds when you tried to get them off wood. And many of the labels could have been put on the underside of a table or chair but were instead in a very obvious spot. I had to use Goo Gone to get them off of almost every piece of furniture. 3) There were a couple of things I had to ask them twice if they had remembered to load at the first house...like the patio chairs. I shouldn't have had to remind them once, let alone twice. I would definitely walk the house to make sure nothing is forgotten before you let the truck drive away. While you might have seen these things as big problems, I think the most important thing was that my belongings arrived safely and in perfect condition, they showed up when they were supposed, worked efficiently (since you pay on an hourly rate) and the crews were a pleasure to be around. As a real estate agent, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my clients. read more

This is the most pathetic company I've ever done business with. They showed up 2.5 hours after they said they would arrive. The workers were exhausted and it took an extra hour than necessary to move. I ended up moving the majority of everything myself. After the move was complete, the workers had completely broken a chair and had a 7 inch scratch on my desk. When I asked for them to work with me to provide a reasonable refund/partial refund, they declined and told me they didn't feel that this was a good enough reason to offer any refund at all. I would never use this company if I were looking to move. You are guaranteed to be disappointed and they have the worst customer service I've ever seen. I have no idea how they are still in business. This would have been a 5 star EXCEPT They gave me my quote through e-mail furniture sight unseen. I arrived at my home as they were pulling out. i was shocked to see so much of my furniture was still in my home. I drove to the new home as they were finishing and they said the rest wouldn't fit and here's your bill. I called the office and they said they would charge me for the truck again and $125 per hour to finish the job. I said not happening . They offered to deduct the drive time . Are you kidding me, the job wasn't complete!!! My stuff wasn't moved yet. How do you give me a bill when my furniture is still at my first home. I am a business owner and I would never disrespect a customer this way. They should have completed the job at their own cost. That is the cost of doing business when you make a mistake. Needless to say I will never refer them in my network of providers. Big loss for them. read more

Dissatisfied. I reached out to the company to move our 6,000 sq ft office space. We paid a rate of $260.00 hr for 9 hours which did not unreasonable. However at the end of the day the manager, Nick showed up the last 2 hours stating he and the staff could not move our office copiers unless we signed a waiver that they are not liable if they damage the copiers during the move. Nick was very argumentative and tried to reference something about the agreement we signed, stating they could not move anything that was not properly packaged. I asked how do you package a office copy machine? Nick, was never able to answer this question. I explained, I thought we were hiring professional movers, I would never have agreed to hire them and pay this rate if I knew they could not move one of the key items to an office, being company machines. Finally on a Friday evening at 5:30pm Nick and the movers with him abandoned our copiers and left me and my staff to figure it out. I would NOT recommend this company unless you have an extremely small job and items that are not of any value. It my opinion, after paying nearly $2,500.00 for mover that could not complete the job, we still have to hire professional movers to return and move our office copiers. CUSTOMERS BEWARE! read more

Pretty poor experience with their management. I bought a Groupon for their moving services thinking I could get an OK deal on my move across town. At every step in the planning process, the estimate for time and cost it would take to move went up. At first it was 2 workers for 2 hours. Then 3 workers for 2 hours. Then 3 workers for four hours. Very frustrating. They are also fairly bad at returning emails and phone calls. After all this, I signed up for 3 movers just wanting to get it done. They only sent two movers even though I put an additional deposit down just for that reason. After everything, it took much longer and cost much more than the original estimate. They also tried to tell me that the per hour rate for two movers is more than the rate for three movers, and tried to charge me the two person rate even though it was their fault they only sent two movers instead of the three I ordered. After speaking with management, I got the lower 3 mover rate, but that should not have been an issue at all. The only reason they did not get one star is that nothing was broken or damaged during the move, which I consider a big deal. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Absolutely the best moving service I have ever used. I only had them move one piece, but it's a very large piece. And to make it even more challenging, it's white, I needed to be moved to the second floor. They were super helpful on the phone prior to the move, and did everything they could to ensure that the move would be successful. They brought plenty of help, and even with four gentleman it was very challenging for them. Watching them move this piece made me realize there is an art to what they do. I was so pleased to see that the gentleman I had been working with on the phone was with the movers when they arrived. They kept the drawers in the dresser and now I am having to find items that fell to the back. Had a futon and as they did not set it in the fixed position, when it was moved it fell back and scratched the wall. Was told today that "apparently" during the move they hit a retaining wall in the complex, at least that is what one of the residents told me, I can not attest to that. I have used this moving group before Nd had no complaints, not as satisfied this time. Another thing, hVe cash ready for their tip, I had to make a run to get cash as they didn't want to wait what they said would be 2 weeks to get their tip. read more
