We moved a 3 bedroom plus basement house from Columbia to Hazelwood, and Rent a Vet did a great job. I would highly recommend them for these reasons: 1. They are reputable and legitimate. Having researched and gotten quotes from over a dozen moving companies for this move (National companies, St. Louis companies, and Columbia companies), having movers that are totally honest can be difficult to find. I went into the move fully trusting Frank and his crew to move our things, and they did. 2. They have great prices with no hidden fees. Their rates were the best I found, and they charged a flat fee, which was great. Frank even showed up with additional men and trucks than I expected and called in extra guys later in the day to help with unloading, and it was still the quoted fee. No hidden costs, and I think the quote even included tax! 3. Frank was responsive, and he oversaw the move personally. He always answered all of my many, many emails promptly. Sometime during the time unloading happened, we also had some minor property damage (approx. $50) that happened to an outdoor item that had also been damaged previously by dry rot well before the move. While the damage might have been caused by the high winds from a storm that moved through during unloading, Frank took the time to look at the item, listen to our concerns, and reimburse us the same day. We also had some concerns with the manner in which the boxes were being unloaded in the rain, and when we told him, he promptly changed how they were being unloaded to better protect the boxes at more work to him and his men. He also made sure at our request that no dollies were used in the house we were moving to due to its wood floors. 4. All of Frank's crew were great. I honestly cannot remember seeing one of the guys ever take a break apart from drinking a quick glass of water and then getting right back to work. They all worked very hard on a very hot, miserable day, including rain for part of unloading. I was not loading or unloading, and I was at times feeling dizzy from the heat that was in the 97-100 degree range, but all the crew worked continuously and at full effort. Towards the very end of unloading, they literally ran boxes from the truck to the garage to try keep the boxes drier in pouring rain. (For planning and packing, be aware that they load/unload in the event of rain.) They also worked non-stop with no breaks in sweltering heat, and they were really good about asking where things went that they weren't sure of. There were a few rare things here and there that could have been handled a bit gentler, but I think that is honestly just part of the stress of watching your possessions be moved. And we had no damage to walls, floors, or our items. They also all seemed like genuinely nice people who cared about doing a good job, and they all worked really hard. I honestly wish we could have afforded bigger tips for them. They were all stellar. 5. They have experience and planning. Frank brought enough pads, trucks, and men to get our move done in one day like we asked. Everyone on the crew seemed experienced, and items we wanted wrapped in pads were wrapped before we even had to ask. Everyone knew what they were doing and worked well together. There was no time wasted in coordinating between people. Everyone knew what to do, and did it efficiently. Bottom line, I would highly recommend Rent a Vet to anyone moving. The excellent Rent a Vet Movers team took much of the stress out of moving day for us. From the moment they arrived (on time) and introduced themselves, we immediately felt confident that we--and our belongings--were in good hands. Everyone involved in the process was professional, courteous, and focused on helping us--from the initial consultation with the owner, Frank, through completion of the job, with follow-up at the end by Frank to confirm our satisfaction. The A Team of movers--JR, Andrew, LaRon, Jerome, and Matt--was awesome! The weather was miserably hot and humid the day we moved this week, with a heat index of 105 degrees, yet they took it in stride and remained upbeat and energetic throughout. For example, near the end of the move, Andrew had moved a very heavy, awkwardly shaped box up to the third floor on my instructions, only to learn that a change of plans had occurred, and my husband needed it to go to the basement instead. I felt horrible about the extra work because of us, but Andrew took the change in stride, assuring me it was no problem and that this type of thing often happens. I was amazed and grateful that his good attitude didn't falter, even after hours moving in that weather. That was a specific example, but the whole team was exemplary. And even in that weather, the move took much less time than we expected (and consequently cost much less). In addition to taking excellent care of our belongings (which included securely padding and wrapping our furniture), the whole team communicated well with us throughout to ensure everything was moved to our satisfaction. They gave me a window of 12-4, they didn't arrive to my apt until almost 3. I was told I would have two movers but three showed up so I was ok with that. Only for the third to be a trainee and lazy. I was never informed that they would be brining a trainee, I thought the extra person was due to the timing. They moved me from a one bdrm to an one bdrm apt loft. Only two heavy items were a sectional and my bed which they had to take apart. The manager complained that the bed would take the longest to disassemble, but he reassembled it so fast at the new place. This make me feel as if they run the clock up on purpose. I also even offered to put things in my car because I was skeptical of them taking it. Long story short it took them 6 hrs to move a packed up one bdrm to another one bdrm and five guys. They had to call in reinforcement due to the timing and their un-experienced trainee. After they were done the manager called his boss due to the fact they did take long to get me a discount. I still ended up paying $500 and I didn't complain I just wanted them to get the (bleep) out of my house. After I made payment over the phone they waited around for me to give them a tip, which I did not. I had already giving them drinks and a microwave(which I didn't have too). Only to find that they sat two ottomans full stuff on top of a box that was labeled fragile(breaking glass items). I would not recommend this company due to complaining, laziness and incompetence. read more

I've used Rent-A-Vet 3 times now. I'll break down my experiences: 1st time - they moved a bunch of stuff into the bathroom "to get it out of the way" - left it there for me to haul myself. Several car-loads worth, day and 1/2 on my own. 2nd time - The couch *they moved in* from the first move, they could not figure out how to get out again. Had to leave for apartment to junk. RaV did reimburse cost incurred by landlord for the removal. Still out a couch. 3rd time - This last time was the worst. It took me THREE DAYS of going back and forth to get all the things they missed/broke and left this time. They were tired though, it was their second job of the day. I know because I was told this 20 or so times. When a company called "Rent-A-Vet" leaves a WWII funeral flag behind as junk, there's a problem. Busted open a box of books at the old place, just left it. Busted my PC. Basically if said "Fragile" or "This Side Up", it was load-bearing in the new place. And they didn't even give me the slightest indication that things had been left behind. I had to find out myself the next day. I've given this company 3 chances, which was 2 too many. My husband and I used Rent a Vet movers the beginning of October to move from St. Peters, MO to Rockledge, FL. The owner Frank came out to our house to give an estimate, he was very professional and informative. We were impressed and decided to book them for our long move. The day of the move we were blown away with how amazing the movers were! They were on time, courteous and very careful with our things. The lead mover, Matthew, was a breath of fresh air. He kept things going and upbeat. He was very detailed with the way our king size storage bed came apart. He labeled and packed each piece individually. He was going to be driving the moving truck to FL and would be there on the other end to put it together and he was. He was joined by a few local movers to unload our truck and they worked as a team and had us unloaded in no time at all. Very impressed! Frank runs an awesome team. They were able to accommodate my moving request with about a week's notice. They also arrived early at my request so we could avoid the Sunday church traffic across the street. I didn't have much to move (only filled about half of their full-sized truck), but they were quick and reliable. They even had tools on hand to help me disassemble and reassemble my bed! The original quote was well below the bigger movers, and the final price I paid was even lower than the quote! How often does that happen?? They did such a great job, though, that I added the difference between the quote and final price to their tip. The guys were so professional and courteous, and they exemplify their core values of integrity, excellence, and accountability. And I love supporting a veteran-owned and black-owned local business. These guys moved me on one of the hottest days of the year. They never tired and kept up a frenetic pace in order to keep my cost down. I have moved all across the country (23 moves in all) and I have never been more impressed with a group of guys. Their attention to detail was great. They wrapped all the furniture, took extra care with packing on the truck and were cautious while bringing the furniture into my new home. It's been 2 months since my move so I may misremember the names of those involved and I apologize but Frank, the owner, was my first call and he took charge immediately. J.R. was the foreman and was as concerned as anyone could have been. His crew, Larry and Laron were incredibly hard working. If we could give infinite starts we would have! Frank & Tim were able to get half of a 9' x 18' pod (we did the other half of boxes the day before) upacked and moved in an hour! This consisted of a bed, dresser, bookcases, boxes and a 300 pound sweater chest and other things. They were even able to come way earlier because of a cancellation, and were absolutely professional, lovely and delightful people. The thing that really sold me was that they were able to fit us in last minute. We have had a very stressful time with renovating our new house and getting it ready, so we weren't able to get the movers we had used last time as they had already booked up by the time we knew the house would be ready. I had to add two different drop offs in addition to my final destination and it was so easy to update my information and they were happy to accommodate. Eric, Darren and Paris were amazing!! Thankfully the temperature dropped in time for my move yesterday but it was still warm and humid and it was not easy for those guys to keep going up and down those stairs with all our boxes and furniture. They came in and cleared out the house in amazing time and got everything into our new place equally as fast! Professional, friendly and very efficient. I've already recommended them to two other friends who are getting ready to move. When you are new to an area and don't have the local knowledge base on companies, it's daunting and scary to invite them into your home and trust them with your belongings. We heard about Rent A Vet Movers from some friends who moved over the summer. After contacting them by email they responded within the hour, very reasonable and no surprises. I've moved a lot and have had some really bad movers , these guys were just fantastic! Three men, Pablo, frank, and Jim, arrived on time and worked extremely hard. Everything was wrapped in blankets and plastic. Most of our very heavy furniture came from a lower level and went back to a lower level without a walkout. They were very good about placing things where we wanted and helped us move some heavy stuff we weren't taking from the lower level to the garage. I can't recommend hem highly enough. Simply put, this was the best moving experience I have ever encountered. Rent-A-Vet was able to accommodate my last minute move scheduling, which was made the week prior. The four man team arrived in time, and were very professional and friendly. I had a full truckload of furnishing and household goods which was moved from two locations into our new home. This took them only 4 hours! All furniture was wrapped in blankets, and handled with care. There was no damage to any furniture, walls, or doorways. The team really worked hard, and wasted no time. Ok... so I have used many movers throughout my life and most have been horrible at best. The movers complain about the heavy stuff, the steps, and then charge much more than the quote. So I came across Rent a Vet Movers through Yelp and gave Frank a call. The day of the move 3 men show up in 10 degree weather. They worked 6 hrs straight without complaining once. They were professional, polite, and hard workers. After they were finished they returned to my old house and hauled away some junk for us. An experience we thought would be dreadful turned out to be pleasant. Oh...and did I mention they were more than competitively priced. We were shocked! These guys are great! They were right on time at 830 am even though I was given a two hour window for arrival. The professionalism caught my eye right from the start from how organized, efficient and friendly the whole crew was and how well the moving contract was presented. From the walkthrough at first down to unloading the last box, these guys rocked it and were helpful the whole time. The one guy was even able to detach and reattach my gas dryer! They carefully wrapped and padded all my big hard to handle furniture (that nearly killed my brother when we moved in lol). I want to give a particular shout out to Junior (JR) and Jay! They helped me with a large move that took more than 7 hours. Not only are they physically strong men, but more importantly, they have an outstanding and professional service-oriented attitude and are efficient! They are polite, experienced, and punctual. They didn't even take me up on my offer for them to take a lunch break to rest and just wanted to keep on moving and working hard. These two men also helped me move very heavy, solid-wood executive desks that must have weighed several hundred pounds each up and down staircases without any other mechanical assistance. Called Rent-A-Vet a few weeks before my whole-house move. Scheduled two 26ft. trucks and 4 guys for the move. Price was a flat rate per hour (very reasonable). On move day, two gentlemen in a minivan (JR was his name) showed up early to take notes and do a walkthrough of hallways, measuring doors etc. Then right on time, two trucks show up with all the guys (so I had 6 guys in total). They wrapped each piece of furniture in moving blankets and then flat twined them in place. wrapped and loaded a two story, three bedroom house full of furniture in 2 hours flat! Rent A Vet was great across the board. We had two sets of movers over the course of 3 days, 1 to load from our old house and 1 to unload into our new house. The teams were beyond professional, polite and very friendly. They moved fast, consulted with us on our preferences and opinions, and kept us in the loop on progress. At one point, we thought we may need an additional vehicle and the team not only worked with Frank at HQ but also advised us on a contingency plan just in case anything fell through (we ended up not needing an additional vehicle).
