John's method is comprehensive and he explains what the process is every step of the way. It definitely seemed a bit unusual to me at first, because I hadn't heard singers do exercises like his before, but the results were undeniable. The improvement was noticeable right away, but the results only got better with time. It's worth it to stick with it for a long time to get the most out of it. His "voice-building" technique really works on a fundamental level, completely building great technique from the ground up. My projection, dynamics, pitch, breathing, sustain, and overall technique had a dramatic transformation for the better. I also didn't realize just how much it was possible to increase vocal range, but John's method will dramatically increase range. I can now consistently hit notes that I didn't think I was capable of before. I really can't imagine that you'd get these kinds of results from just any old vocal instructor. I did lessons for two years and consistently improved. The only reason I stopped doing lessons with him was because I moved away, otherwise I'd likely have continued for quite awhile. The director is extremely talented at music and teaching, but managing a business is not her talent. We had to discontinue our lessons here for a number of reasons. First, it was extremely expensive. Second, it was very difficult to reschedule lessons, and you end up losing money if you can't reschedule within the semester because you still have to pay, even if you didn't get all your lessons. Third, it was very disturbing to receive disrespectful voicemail and email messages from management. It was also annoying to receive multiple emails a day in all caps for lessons and performances that do not even apply to you. All parents receive emails for all instruments and age groups, so it's really annoying to see multiple mass emails a day. You also get nickeled and dimed for every second. There's not even time to chat with the teacher for a few minutes after the lesson because there's another student scheduled and waiting until the second your lesson is over. Some personal anecdotes from this school include being lectured and screamed at over the phone about taking a family trip and having to miss a class, instead of waiting for when the director was in Florida on her vacation.... not only was this disrespectful, but we didn't even miss class or go on vacation, as they mixed us up with a different family. Another anecdote is being charged for lessons that were rescheduled due to the teacher's schedule, only to find that unbeknownst to us, the director hired a substitute teacher 24 hours before the lesson, but we had no idea and then received rude emails and voicemails. Fantastic teachers, but we couldn't handle paying that much money for all the harassment and stress. I'd recommend this school for very serious students who want the teachers enough and are willing to pay top dollar and deal with the management.

I've been working with Sally for a little over 2 years and I've loved every lesson. Sally was easy to contact via cell (she still is very responsive via cell). She stopped by my house to first introduce herself and explain her teaching process. She was flexible and accommodating around my work schedule and agreed to provide lessons on an every other week basis. It's important to note that my prior way of learning the piano is different from how Sally has and continues to teach me how to play. I previously remember memorizing notes, cords, etc ("Every Good Boy Does Fine"). Sally goes above and beyond to explain the "why" behind piano instruction. I know that her emphasis on music theory versus rote learning plays a large part in why so many of her students are successful. Also different from my prior instructor, Sally encourages her students to learn to play pieces that best reflect their current level and interests versus completing each book to in order by completion. For example, Sally and I have worked on the adult level 1 and 2 books, but she's allowed me to dabble in supplemental pieces from other books (children's books levels 3, 4) and holiday pieces. She's very easy going and accommodating to her students' interests. Although COVID-19 has unfortunately affected many small businesses, I can honestly say that my lessons with Sally haven't missed a beat. She worked tremendously hard in buying herself personal equipment (microphone, headset speakers, iPad) to make sure her virtual lessons with her students were still effective and productive.
