I also appreciate his candor and sense of humor too. It eases the nerves especially during really stressful times. He's a good dude. Every visit has been a smooth affair for me and my cat, and he'd be the first guy I go to if there's ever any issues. Props to his assistants too! They help make every visit a smooth one as well. I feel like my cat's in good hands whenever I go here.

I knew that he was in his last moments. We just wanted a diagnosis and most likely put him to sleep so he wouldn't have to suffer. After waiting an hour after our appointment time, his 15 year old aid took him in to be examined. (This guy likes hiring kids to assist) . No more than 5 minutes later, Dr Buchalter comes out and tells us that there is nothing he can do for him and (wait for it) , he tells us that our cat isn't worth our money and he wouldn't make it through the night. Now I understand that the Dr gave us an honest opinion, but I know that there's a better way he could have explained that. To tell us that our beloved cat isn't worth at minimum a diagnosis to my eight month pregnant wife is just cold hearted. To add insult to injury, he tells us that we can't even be in the room with him when he puts our cat to sleep. He then tells us a creepy story that the only time he did that was when he put a dog to sleep in front of the owner out of spite because the dog escaped his owner and got hit by a car. He wanted the owner to suffer. WTF! My wife was so upset and distraught she almost went into labor. My cat did survive the night and was taken to a Legitimate Vet the next morning. He was gently put to sleep in our loving arms by a compassionate vet . His diagnosis was cancer. That's all we wanted. Some answers and some kindness. And by the way, the secretary of Dr. Buchalter is his wife, and she's a totally Rude Nasty B**tch ! Always has been. I'll never refer this vet to anyone again. Take your beloved pet to a modern vet. You may have to pay more money, but budget doesn't mean better. Done.

The doctors were always informative, honest, and reliable, taking the time to explain everything clearly and offering alternative treatment options when appropriate. A special thank you to Dr. Mittal, who was incredibly compassionate, kindhearted, and caring throughout Kikis final battle with cancer. During such a difficult time, Dr. Mittal and the entire staff treated both our cat and our family with genuine empathy and respect. When the time came to say goodbye, the hospital gave us all the time we needed and showed an incredible amount of support and understanding. Their kindness did not end there as they later sent us a handwritten condolence card along with our cat's nose and paw prints. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that brought us comfort during our grief. We are very grateful for the exceptional care, compassion, and support we received.

I was recommended him my girl's old vet in Queens who didn't do visits in Manhattan and I cannot begin to say how lucky we are to have found him. I brought my CeCe for a check up on June 16th because she had been eating poorly, loosing weight and having less energy for a couple of weeks. 11 days later she was gone. Had she received the treatments she needed and none of what she didn't need, she would still be alive today. Before her blood tests results were even known, and confirmed advanced stage of kidney disease, Dr. Ueda had decided to treat my cat with a concoction of an aggressive parasite treatment, and an undisclosed antibiotic - "just in case" - without any symptoms calling for its use. Had I been told about the common side effects of both medications (NexGard Combo and Convenia), I would have never given consent to have either one of them used on my cat. Dr. Ueda failed to obtain an informed consent from me, and under the guise of "making my cat feel better" treated her with two substances that were guaranteed to worsen the very symptoms I came to seek treatment for. Afterwards, when my cat's condition did worsen - she became completely letargic and anorexic - and I couldn't afford the recommended $7000 hospitalization, I asked for home palliative care options. All I was sent away with were subcutaneous fluids, phosphate binder (Epakitin) that was supposed to be given with food, and a transdermal appetite stimulant (Mirataz) that the vet herself admitted wouldn't work. Neither nausea nor pain medication were prescribed, which essentially meant my non-eating cat was left to starve to death. She couldn't eat because the uremic toxins in her body caused extreme nausea and painful ulcers. Yet, at first, I was told she couldn't be nauseous because she wasn't actively vomiting. My request for a pain medication was also denied supposedly because Dr. Ueda didn't notice any ulcers - how could she though, if she never even finished checking my cat's mouth. Later on I was told that these safe liver-metabolized medications (like Cerenia or Buprenorphine), commonly prescribed to cats with kidney disease, couldn't be given to my cat because they would "further strain her compromized kidneys." And that was not only a blatant lie, but it also made for a most ridiculous excuse since two harsh systemic medications that are specifically kidney-metabolized had been administered or dispensed to my cat just a few days prior, without blinking an eye. In reply to my final plea for a pain medication to ease my dying CeCe's suffering, l was rushed (because they were closing soon) to bring her in for a euthanasia estimated at $500-700 even though I explained she was in no condition to be moved. No other options were offered or suggested. Nobody who truly loves animals would have done or let any of this happen. Stay away from this place. These "nice people" are only after your money.

We had a horrible experience with another vet in Queens that was much closer to us. Going to St. Mina's is a little out of the way, but we figured we would give it a try. And I'm glad we did. Since 2018 Dr. Benyamen has been taking care of both of our cats, Harry and Merlin. Harry ( also a rescue) was the older one and had a thyroid condition. Dr.Benyamen helped us through the medication process, offering an ear gel rather than a pill. Harry just wouldn't take pills. This was a lifesaver! We would have to bring our Harry in regularly over the years, as he grew older he had more issues. Dr. Benyamen always, always took the time to make sure that we understood all of our choices in Harry's health care. He never pushed us one way or the other, and let us know prices before any tests were given. He even called the day after one of our visits to see how we were all doing. The staff at St. Mina's is exceptional. All of them knowledgeable and compassionate, courteous and professional. Dr. Benyamen and his staff helped us to give Harry the best years of his adult life. Harry took a turn for the worse last week and we took him to Dr. Benyamen. Together we discussed the options. Our Harry's health was suddenly declining quickly and ultimately we had to give in to giving up our Harry, he was just too sick. The experience of letting our Harry go was very emotional. Dr. Benyamen and his assistant let us take our time as we said goodbye to Harry one last time. We were all in the room together as I looked into Harry's eyes and he took his last breath. Having the support of Dr. Benyamen and his assistant there was priceless. I'm writing this review today after we picked up Harry's ashes. Dr. Benyamen doesn't miss a beat. When he saw me waiting. He came over to ask how my husband and I and Merlin were doing. I guess I can say that going to St. Mina's is like going home. They always made us feel like family there.
