I have been to so many vets over the years with my fur babies, some who look at you like a checkbook, to the point of telling me "maybe you should go elsewhere" when her nerves got the best of her (I'm looking at you Animal Medical Center) and others who put the needs of the animal above all else. We met Dr. Jonathan Leshanski and Emily Leshanski- two extraordinarily caring people- under the worst possible circumstances: our 15-year-old cockapoo, Maggie, showed signs of declining health and diminished quality of life despite our best efforts and continued work with her primary veterinary care provider (a veterinary practice she had been going to for years). Our primary care provider had cautioned us (based on multiple diagnostic screenings and evaluations) that Maggie was showing signs of her age, and we made arrangements to keep her comfortable, mobile, and as independent as possible. Still, the inevitability of what was to come broke our hearts. Every second with Maggie, from the moment she came into our lives until those last difficult days, was a gift. We knew that, when the time came to make the heart-breaking decision to help ease her passing, we wanted Maggie to feel safe, comfortable, and surrounded by loved ones in an environment that was familiar to her: her home. Because it was an impossible request for our normal veterinary practice to accommodate at-home care, we sought the extraordinary: a veterinary practice that makes house calls- enter At Home Veterinary and Dr. Jonathan Leshanski. Our first interactions were with Emily in our initial consultation. Emily was nothing short of compassionate and understanding of Maggie's needs as well as incredibly responsive and, above all, kind. She answered all of the questions we had, and we discussed the options for at-home hospice assessment and other services offered by Dr. Leshanski. We discussed the process for making final arrangements and decided to wait and see how Maggie was doing. We were incredibly fortunate to enjoy a few more months of Maggie's love and remarkable company while steeling ourselves for the inevitable time when we would have to say goodbye. One day, after four more beautiful months of stolen kisses, short walks, affectionate nuzzles, and naptime cuddles (and lots and lots of love), Maggie showed us signs that she might have to leave us, soon. We were devastated, but we knew that we owed it to Maggie not to let her suffer; we also trusted that Dr. Leshanski would let us know if we were making the right choice. We reached out to Emily (who was just as patient, caring, and kind as ever) and arranged for an at-home visit with the understanding that it might include Dr. Leshanski's recommendation to help ease Maggie's pain and cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Leshanski was able to accommodate a visit with Maggie the following day, and we made the impossibly difficult decision to help Maggie find peace. Dr. Leshanski didn't just help Maggie live her last moments with the dignity and grace that had become characteristic of her time with us, he helped all of us confront our grief and gave us the time we needed to say our final goodbyes. Dr. Leshanski also monitored Maggie throughout the process to ensure that she was not in any pain or distress. Dr. Leshanski promised us that he would treat Maggie with the same respect and care as "one of his own", and offered his condolences as well as an invitation to reach out to his office for grief counseling services. We could not have been more happy with Dr. Leshanski and his wife's Emily undivided attention during this difficult time in our lives. Our sweet and loving senior kitty of almost 20 years had to be euthanized and it was the hardest decision we had to make. At 4:30am I knew it was the day that I would have to say goodbye to my sweet Chloe. I emailed At Home Veterinary early in the morning and got a reply shortly after even though is was before their listed business hours. I've been using him ever since because he is so good. He knows his stuff; loves animals, and they let him do anything. I called half a dozen different vets when it was time for my cat to go. She had been sick for a long time, but I knew it was her time. I wanted her to be able to go peacefully at home. The vets I called weren't available so I started searching online. I came across At Home Vet and was distrustful that anyone could have so many positive reviews over the years. No one is *that* good. I was desperate so I called. His schedule was full, but he made time at the very end of the day to come out. He made it out at almost 9pm. He took time away from his family and came out at the end of a long day just to help me let my cat go at peace in her home because she was not doing well and I did not want to make her suffer any longer. He was so kind and compassionate during the visit. I had had to let pets go in the past and it is always very hard. This was the most peaceful and serene it had ever been. Dr. Leshanski, his veterinary assistant, and his office assistant were all lovely. Today we had to put our beloved jack russell poodle - Bucky - to sleep. My children are living all over the world, and were devastated to hear the news that they would be losing Bucky. Dr. Leshanski very kindly talked to them all on a group call, explaining Bucky's prognosis and gently answering their questions about what might happen in Bucky's body if we elected not to go through with it. In the end, the kids and I all understood that we were making the right choice, and Dr. Leshanski offered that I should take all the time I needed before he administered the drugs. After it was over, he said that I could call his office any time if I needed to talk about my grief, and also mentioned that he can put me in touch with grief groups. Dr. Leshanski is fantastic. 5 stars doesn't do him justice. He deserves 10!! I highly recommend his services for any pet including those scared to go to the vet, hospice or at home euthanasia, & pretty much anything! The cost for a home visit and 2 medications for 10 days each was incredibly reasonable - I was pleasantly shocked!! It is slightly more than a vet visit, but the difference in price is negligible especially for the service provided. He has a pleasant demeanor, & cautious approach. He always errs on the side of life. He specializes in hospice care, end of life at home euthanasia, accupuncture, holistic health care, and uses a combo of eastern and western medicine (traditional and alternative medicines). I was impressed by the availability of appointments - I could've had an appointment within 5 hrs of calling. His assistant Emily, was truly kind and was able to accommodate my specific timing needs. His assistant Emily will call you when the doctor is within 15 min away from your residence. The doctor does provide an hour window that He will arrive. Because he NEVER wants to rush an appointment. Mine was between 8-9pm. He arrived promptly within the time allotted, & spent over an hr and a half with my dog & me going thoroughly over everything - my options of euthanasia or if I wanted to give a last ditch effort!! In my 20yrs of owning pets/ companion animals I've never had a vet give me more than 30 min of his time - max!! I highly recommend Dr. Leshanski. You will NOT be disappointed at all!! After a couple weeks of substandard care by BluePearl Downtown, it was deemed necessary that our 18-year old cat Chef had to be euthanized. Dr. Leshanski's operator Emily responded to our phone call very quickly and scheduled an at home visit from Dr Leshanski that evening to help Chef move on to his next life. First of all, Emily is super-sweet and understanding. She does not treat you like a "customer". She treats you like a real human being whose pet needs help. If only more people on the phone were like Emily on the phone! Secondly, Dr. Leshanski arrived promptly as scheduled and wore full protective gear as per Covid-19 guidance. He also graciously took off his shoes at the door. He was very patient with us as we said our last goodbyes to Chef, and waited in the next room without pressuring us in any way, even though it was already 7pm. He explained the entire process to us and afterwards told us to contact him or Emily for emotional help if we needed it. This might be my first, and most difficult review to write. Dr. Jonathan Leshanski came into my life, in two very difficult moments. He is without a doubt one of the kindest, most empathetic souls that I've ever crossed paths with. In November 2017 our cat Cole had suffered a series of health setbacks. It took a lot for me to realize that the end was near. I made an appointment with Dr. L, but Cole passed naturally well before his at-home euthanasia appointment. During the night, Dr. L gave support, advice, and helped us at we said goodbye to Cole. When they arrived to pick up his body, both Dr. L and his wife (the lovely Emily) arrived to give us hugs, listen about the life of little Cole, and cremate his body. At a time when emotions were so RAW, this pair of animal health professionals showed compassion, guidance, and absolute kindness. When Cole passed, our even older cat Gilly, hadn't been to the vet in years. Because even though our Gilly cat was a fluff ball of love, around a vet he became WORSE than the most EVIL CAT EVER. He could make zoologists uncomfortable, vets that worked with lions, tigers, and bears, didn't want to be around Gilly. Dr. Leshanski was up to the challenge of giving Gilly a once over. God-love-him. As my cat SCREAMED bloody murder, he whispered sweet nothings into his ear, assuring him that all was well, and that that is was going to be okay. Dr. L was devastated to give me the news that Gilly had both a cancerous tumor and kidney disease. Even though Gilly had lived an awesome 17 years. He gave great insight, great advice, and when Gilly started his ascent downhill, it was Dr. Leshanksi that gave me clarity to make a very tough decision. When Dr. L arrived at our home, he explained every step, and allowed my husband and I to take the reins. In my embrace, and in the comfort of our home, Gilly was put to sleep in my arms. As Gilly took his last breaths, Dr. Leshanski stroked his head and said "I'm so sorry my friend." We were so lucky to have this option, and to be surrounded by such love from Dr. Leshanski, he understood how hard this moment was. You would be foolish not to utilize his services, wisdom, and kindness when dealing with your four-legged family member. read more

Our cats loved him (seriously is this guy a cat whisperer?). His hours we're flexible and it was absolutely wonderful that we didn't have to stress out our two babies dragging them to the vet to get vaccinations and their exam. I came across Dr. Leshanski via Yelp, and within a short while, he responded to my inquiry. He was extremely helpful and fit us in on very short notice. We were extremely appreciative of that, as we didn't want our cat's pain to continue. When he arrived, he was so compassionate, knowledgeable, and kind. Dr. Leshanski came to help put our beloved cat to rest. Given it's not a pleasant experience in general, he made it go about as smoothly and respectfully as you could ask for. Called and he was able to come as early as the same evening. He was professional and comforting throughout. Clearly explained the steps. All in all it was a dignified way for our kitty to go out. It does cost more, but if it's not prohibitive, I think it was much preferable - both for our cat and for us - then going into the vet. read more

Dr. Leshanski treats my 11 year old boxer who suffers from degenerative myelopathy which is causing paralysis in his hind legs. Thankfully, Maximus is able to receive acupuncture twice a week since he offers at-home treatments. Dr. Leshanski is professional, sincerely caring and just an all around nice guy.
