My issue is My pug got sick while away Had to take her to an urgent care after they did a bunch of test no diagnosis Long story short The urgent care sent results to Glendale I wanted her opinion when I called to speak to her I was told it would be $85.00 to have a tel phone visit. All I wanted to know is if she saw something in the test results that urgent care missed Sorry I don't think that is right Needless to say my pug passed away. I've been a client of Glendale Veterinary Clinic since Dr. Anne joined the practice many years ago. I followed her from another practice because I don't know a better diagnostician than Dr. Anne. In addition to her outstanding skills and expertise in diagnosing tricky conditions, she has performed several complex surgeries on my xl dogs and they have all been very successful and expertly done. This clinic used to be great, not so much anymore. There are new doctors (Dr. Lindsay Oksenberg) there who I do not trust whatsoever. I took my cat for a checkup long story short the doctor advised he needed most of his teeth out and the cost could be up to $4,500. The doctor made a BIG deal of how bad his teeth are and they need to be removed, etc. He is 6 years old, has no bad breathe, eats both dry and hard food- this came from nowhere, I had no idea his teeth may of even been an issue as there was no indication whatsoever. I got a second and third opinion. Both other vets had the same response- WHAT!?!? They both said my cat had some gingivitis and I could do 1 of 2 things: get a cleaning for around $800 (no extractions needed) to start "fresh" and get any gingivitis gone OR start brushing his teeth to slowly but surely fix the gingivitis. From removing most of teeth at $4,500 to an ELECTIVE teeth cleaning at $800. I no longer trust this clinic or the doctors there. It's not even an issue of money, it's the fact this doctor would even suggest I pull the majority of my baby's teeth without it being absolutely necessary. I felt they put my cat at risk and in harms way to make some money. They are no longer a nice practice that is trustworthy and affordable. Only good thing are the very nice receptionists. read more

DOCTOR WAS INHUMANE TO MY ANIMAL. To get my cat out of the carrier, she picked up the carrier, flipped it upside down, and tried to shake my cat out onto the table. Imagine a person shaking their purse to get all the contents out. THATS what she did to MY CAT. Once my cat came out, she saw how upset I was and said "this is what we do to all cats. Relax." Took my 5 year old cat here for a check-up and saw Dr. Lindsay Oksenberg. They told me he needed an urgent teeth cleaning along with AT LEAST TEN tooth extractions at a cost of almost $5,000. I took my cat for second and third opinions and learned that he DID NOT need any teeth extracted and even the teeth cleaning was not urgent nor even absolutely necessary. I was told by multiple vets that the cost they quoted me was exorbitant, and that one should be paying around $2,000 MAX even if extracting every single tooth. This vet wanted me to sign papers to agree to and schedule this procedure on the spot. ****DO NOT let these people talk you into any procedures without getting a second opinion**** Even if your pet does in fact need the procedure, they are overcharging you. He was clearly in pain and had deteriorated over the day. Dr. Hess immediately went into action. He needed surgery, and she and Dr. Lindsay were able to perform it the next morning. I brought my cat to Dr. Anne, and the experience has been frustrating. She initially diagnosed my cat as diabetic, but further testing revealed otherwise. Now, my cat needs surgery, and the cost escalated unexpectedly. Dr. Anne's communication and pricing have been inconsistent, making me uneasy about the whole situation. please see below as I go on my rant. I have brought my cat here and Dr. Anne is so rude and condescending she's even rude to her staff. She doesn't make you feel comfortable at all and doesn't listen; when you ask questions she answers them as if you're stupid. She ran blood work on my cat and told us our cat was diabetic my husband tried to explain to her that my cat was not diabetic and that her previous doctor thought she was as well and ran more testing later apologizing to us and letting us know that had they given her a shot she would've gone into cardiac arrest. She kept telling my husband she was the doctor and the blood work clearly showed she was diabetic. We were hesitant about bringing her in for diabetic treatment so I called and explained to her but she wasn't listening to me. I told her you are going to kill my cat her response was Diabetes is going to kill your cat. She did more testing and no my cat is NOT a diabetic in fact her levels were high due to stress. Now my cat needs surgery(which we knew from our first consult with her) we were quoted $1563. to $2228.00 on 10/3 and on 11/9 the day of the procedure my mother-in-law brought her inand the front desk was going to take the deposit but the doctor came out and asked her what was doing and why was she collecting a deposit if she hadn't even given us a quote goes back in her office and comes up with a quote of $2228. - $3500. My mother-in-law is trying to explain to me over the phone about the charges and Dr.Anne was in the background saying are you okay with that? " I was like "Well we kind of have no choice right" as I'm obviously annoyed and her response was" well you can take her somewhere else". I found my old quote and called to see what was so different that now it was more expensive. I spoke with Sabina who was amazing, patient, and understanding. She honored my original quote. When I got to the office to pick up my cat they did NOT honor my quote As per Dr.Anne everything went well so I should've paid $1563.00 but instead she charged me $1,892.50.Then Dr.Anne gave me my cats stones but only to realize when I get home that they gave me another pet stones (My cats name is Nahal the stones that they gave me were for Harley)Since coming here I have never felt comfortable But we have already spent over $2000.00 Just on testing. My cat was already stressed and I just wanted her to get better soon so I didn't want to take her somewhere else to start all over again. Every call we got was for more testing and repeat testing it was just crazy. She gave us an antibiotic because my cat has an infection and called a few days later to tell us that now my cat may have parasites but the good thing is that the antibiotic she gave her would get rid of the parasites then asked us to come in so that we can test her to see if she has parasites, My husband was like for what because even if she does have it the antibiotics will cure it so why find out and test her and pay more money. Just doesn't make sense. She has been through SO MANY , " your dog is a fighter, she still has the will to live..." with my husband and I over the past 3 years with our now over the rainbow Toby. I've been here 3x now, two years apart, with two different animals. In 2019 I adopted a cat from ACC. Long story short, the shelter was not clear or forthcoming about our boy's existing illness and without this clinic he would have surely lost his eye. I really appreciate the practice of being given a quote before any procedures are done. Their procedures are very reasonably priced (especially for this single mom!) But not at the expense of quality of care. I came in recently with a backyard cat we adopted. They let us come to the waiting room 15 min before closing to do a check for fleas, any major issues, gender, and a microchip for an existing owner. He checked out fine and we came back a week later for his first checkup. My 4yo (human child) was SO upset about our new kitty being taken into a back room so they worked to find a solution that made him calmer about his friend. It was so sweet and the care was comprehensive, I really appreciated it. Sometimes I've been hit with vet visits where the bills are astronomical and I don't understand what's happening, this was the exact opposite. The staff are so friendly and put us totally at ease. Also, if anyone cares, I compared the pumpkin and trupanion pet insurance for cats. Personally, I found pumpkin pet insurance covers quite a bit of care and is very affordable, in my opinion. I had a medical emergency with my dog and after calling around to other vet clinics in the area, they were the friendliest and were able to provide immediate care. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable which makes the entire experience very pleasant. My dog had difficulty breathing, urethral prolapse and the staff were able to make it much easier for him to breathe after the surgery. My dog cried here and there throughout the night and seemed to be in pain. I was so stressed out because I'd never seen him act like this. I did research on vets all night and decided this was the spot I'd take him to. I called first thing in the morning and was greeted by a very friendly person. I explained what was going on with my pup and she got him in right away. My husband was the one that took him in. He said everyone was beyond friendly and kind! Love this clinic so much! I was in a panic when I noticed my dogs anal area extremely swollen, pus filled and red. I knew it could be extremely expensive dealing with vets so I was very nervous about the kind of bill I was going to have to face. I found this place on Yelp and called as soon as they opened. Thank goodness they had availability for the same day. I went, there was no wait. We were seen right away, the vet was nice and explained the possibilities of what the swelling could be. He also pointed out some other issues my little boy had and told me how to treat them/what to look out for. The bill wasn't bad at all, very fair pricing. Our story ends sadly as we found out our baby had cancer and we had to put him to rest. I was taking him to another vet prior to going here and they missed all the signs. Something told me not to go back to the other vet office. So I went on my facebook group for Glendale/Ridgewood citizens and the Glendale Vet Clinic was highly recommended. I've been taking my dog to another local vet since she was a puppy. She is 10 years old now. Recently she got very sick. It was an overnight change. She had loose stool, and her poop was yellow color, continuous gas and she was running around like a crazy person barking all day because of the pain. She started to loose a lot of weight. She was 15lb and went down to 11lb. I spend almost a month and a half going back and fourth with my previous vet on trying to diagnose the problem. Mind you that vet has always been super expensive. So I quickly had a massive vet bill on my plate. In the interim her food was changed about four times, then he suggested I cook for her instead, and I basically almost owned an entire dog pharmacy because of all the different medications he was trying on my dog. Nothing worked. Endless sleepless nights with both her and I crying. She was in pain and I was sleep deprived and exhausted. At one point the poor dog could no longer contain her poop and it would just come out of her butt in liquid form every 3-4 minutes for two days straight. Yes, I timed it so I am not exaggerating! It was horrible!! We did x-rays, countless blood tests, steroid treatments... You name it, I did! If I got 1 or 2 hrs of sleep a night, I was lucky. Finally, after a month and half of this vicious cycle I gave up hope on my once trusted vet. We could not go on like this any longer. I started looking on Yelp and read all the wonderful reviews for glendale vet. I called early one morning and they took me in immediately. I had all my dogs medical history transferred immediately. It is when we met Dr. Hess. She was heaven sent! After reviewing all the medical documentation Dr Hess offered two options. I didn't ask her to, but seeing as I walked in with half a pharmacy she was sensitive to what she knew was an already costly month. She offered a lower cost option and then a more evasive. She suggested we take it slow and not rush things as to properly diagnose and single out the problem. After reviewing the medical papers from the last vet she immediately noticed that some invasive blood tests were never done. Seeing as to the symptoms of the dog she quickly questioned why the previous vet didn't do them. The previous vet took blood two/three times to check different things but never for what Dr Hess recommended they should have been looking at. I was concerned she wanted to run the same tests again, meaning I am paying for same thing twice. She was patient with me and my stress levels and explained in detail why this new blood test was different than what previous vet had done. I opted for the higher end options as I wanted to get to the bottom of this. Along came some additional test. In short, I returned to my second visit to check on the blood results. At which time she had an inkling on the problem. My dog had exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and low b12 levels. She was familiar with the condition and a proper course of action. She explained how the medications the previous vet provided would not help with my dogs condition but just temporarily suppress the symptoms. Which was true. Previously after a few days on the old meds, my dog was feeling pain, gas and loose stool. It was a horrible vicious cycle. Dr Hess put Cookie on a regimen of enzymes, steroids, antibiotics and totally different food. My once skinny bony pup that now weighed a sickly 11 pounds. Quickly started to gain weight again. Her gas pains went away and with weekly b12 shots her erratic behavior has improved. Its a day by day condition but her quality of life has been improved 10 times over. Dr. Hess and her staff were courteous and very patient along the way. Each time we walk in the door they greet us with a smile. I am very thankful to have found her and the team! read more

Glendale vet is okay. I went here because there were no brick and mortar veterinary clinics in Bushwick. Fortunately now there is an alternative nearby that is excellent. The reason I won't be coming back is because we left a voicemail AND emailed photos of my dog's condition and never got a response. We have been clients for years now and I am shocked at the poor service and apparent lack of care. In the past, we have had okay experiences with this place. I really liked Dr. Donovan as she was personable and compassionate. Dr. Hess is quite dismissive and always seems rushed. She needs to understand that the general public does not have expert understanding of veterinary science, and as loving pet parents, we need her to be patient and provide thorough explanations of things in laymen's terms. I was only here once, I took my dog in and saw a male veterinarian. I didn't feel listened to at all, the vet insisted I was incorrect about my dog being due for vaccines because he didn't know how to read a vaccine record. My dog is older and sick and I didn't feel comfortable coming back to a vet who didn't seem to understand my concerns or even know how to read basic health records.
