My cat had a claw injury from the carpet and this clinic was amazing to us. Reception was kind and answered my questions with patience and care. My boyfriend took our cat in and he said the vet was really good at handling our cat who can be skittish. Treatment and same day visit was 120. This was way cheaper than a nearby clinic trying to charge 240 for a same day consultation!!! I would highly recommend this location and staff. read more

When I became the mommy of a Yorkie this past summer it was imperative that I found a vet in Queens immediately. All his previous appointments had been serviced in BK, Clinton Hill at that which meant they were super pricey. The groomers recommended me to Richmond Hill Vet Care and I'm so glad I found them. Pharoah had to have his shots updated. I called, got an appointment and was in there days later. The flat very fee is $25 and I was given a $75 package for the visit plus 2 shots which included the Bordatella and Booster. Since then we've been back when my dog wasn't eating for 3 days and had to have a blood test. Brace yourself as that's $175 but still cheaper than a lot of other places and you won't find a vet sweeter than Dr. Roopnarine Balkaran. He takes his time and is patient with him. Waits for him to warm up to him a little bit before he gives a needle etc. He even shares samples of things you can use/ feed your dog. Great experiences every time. The parking out front is metered and the agents are swift so be cautious. read more

He told me get a lawyer because I wanted more money because I'm getting married in August. The money from the sale of the puppies was going to help pay for wedding and other things in the future. read more

I've taken my puppy here for one appointment so far, but I'm very pleased with the service. She was treated very well by the vets and they cut her nails for free! Im so glad I came across this location thru Yelp, so there's a section that you can leave questions for the clinic staff and they'll answer when possible, I asked the question this morning at 9:15am and by 10:03am I was getting a call back in regards of my question. Mind you they open at 10am, and I thought that was a great start! They work by appointments but after explaining to her what the issue was she told me to come in as early as possible to be seen by the doctor. Very happy to have come across this veterinarian. My cat had blood in his urine, and was peeing infrequently. I took him to Dr. B and he was able to diagnose him quickly and offer him medicine and complimentary urinary track food. One thing that makes Dr. B better than any of the 4 previous vets I have gone to is, he doesnt run unnecessary tests on your pet which make your bill extremely high. He only does the necessary exams, and if he thinks more testing is to be done, he does it quickly and throughly. I live about 1:20 hours away by train and bus, and even though I have 5-7 vets near my house, I would rather come here due to the fast service, the great doctor and assistant, and the low-cost! I came here in an emergency situation per recommendation from my boyfriend who also takes his dog here. My 11 year old dog was experiencing severe weakness and just very ill. Dr. Balkaran was amazing. He was very gentle with her and he genuinely cared about my concerns, but most importantly, the health of my dog. I came back about a week after because she got bad again and he did a thorough examination. He didn't ask to do anything unnecessary and only suggested things that were needed to get the best results. He took her blood and X-ray and it was very affordable. I've been to other emergency vets who would have charged me 5x more in the situation. That being said, he personally called me back to discuss the results and what needed to be done. I'm a student paying tuition out of pocket so I told him I don't have anymore money. But I brought her back because she needed to be seen urgently. He took us in very short notice and he did the best he could while working with my financial abilities. He's amazing and he genuinely cares for the well-being of pets. I love this vet. He saved my cats life. My senior cat had a serious infection from a growth in her nose. Dr Balkaran told me he would do everything he could to save her. And he did. He gave me another year with her. And for that I am forever grateful. He also has a great demeanor and a genuine affection for the animals he provides care for. He is now the only vet I recommend. My ten year old Morkie had a cyst on her back that was not going away. At First I went to Lefferts animal hospital for them to surgically remove it and they gave me an estimate that was so ridiculously pricy. What bothers me is If they love animals why do they try to discourage the owners with very high prices. Wouldn't they try to be reasonable and affordable so people would get their animals treated? I was very upset so I went to Richmond Hill Veterinary Care and Dr. Balkaran was amazing. He made me feel very comfortable that he was going to take care of my dog. He was so friendly with her and I trusted that he'll do a great job with her. He removed her cyst and for a very affordable price. This place was absolutely amazing!! I had taken my dog here to be cared for in her last months after having more and more problems with howard beach animal clinic. This place may not be the biggest or fanciest but looks are deceiving. Richmond hill veterinary care is the absolute BEST vet clinic i have EVER had the pleasure of dealing with! The owner is so kind and so patient and he took such amazing care of my dog. She unfortunately passed away last march (3/31/2020) in my arms right when covid hit. I am only now writing this review because i had other things to deal with at the time that were far more important than a review. Now that i have time to do things for myself again i am finally able to right this review and can honestly and happily say that i would 10/10 recommend richmond hill veterinary clinic to absolutely everyone!! I have already recommended them to my sister in law who just recently got a new kitten and also has a full grown cat and as for myself i will continue to use rhvc as my primary vet because i am looking to adopt a couple of kittens and the only vet clinic i trust anymore is richmond hill. I've been coming here for a few months now and I'm truly pleased with the doctor and his entire staff! They're very welcoming especially the boss kitty they have - Raju! I pay close attention to details when it comes to every doctor I encounter in my life whether it be for myself or my pets and Dr Balkaran and his staff are truly compassionate, calming, sweet, and the biggest thing for me is they don't rush you out of your appointment. He'll sit and talk to you and get to know your pet, he's not too aggressive with anything, and he has the patience of a saint honestly haha. They're EXTREMELY accommodating I can't tell you how many last minute calls I made (not saying it's ok to do so! Cause it's not!) but I have a lot of pets a job and some of my pets are old (RIP MIDNIGHT, doctor put my cat to rest today) -- and candy (front desk) never fails to put me in. I'm writing this review mainly cause I had to put my cat down today and it was extremely hard and doctor and his staff were so good to us throughout the appt. he explains everything, gives you time with your baby, and is SO GENTLE. Amazing quality of care for an incredibly affordable price. I went to a larger hospital in Brooklyn to have my cats eye removed, and they were trying to charge me over 3 grand. I was referred to Richmond Hill and not only was it a fraction of the cost, but the quality of care was much better - the doctor really cares about his patients and was compassionate and loving towards my kitty. Bless Dr. Balkaran and his wonderful team for saving the life of a rescue kitten. Last weekend I found a skinny kitten with a grotesquely swollen pus filled eye just sitting on the side of the road. The poor thing was in horrific shape. I'm a volunteer rescuer (I have a day job but rescue cats in my free time) and have seen some awful things, but this is one of the worst things I've ever seen. I took her in and called my usual network of vets but nobody was open on Sunday, let alone doing surgery/consults, or they referred me to Blue Pearl (the people there are amazing but it is way out of my price range.) I was eventually referred to Dr. Balkaran who was extremely accommodating with pricing, and has such a calm, friendly, professional manner. The eye on this kitten obviously needed to be removed ASAP. He had very clear pre-surgery instructions (she needed subcutaneous fluids and lots of nutrition and hydration to get strong enough for the surgery). He answered all my questions about the process, and handled the enucleation with kindness and care, and regularly called to check in about post surgical care. The staff also went above and beyond to comfort me and my own distress seeing an animal like this. I have gone to lots of vets where they are just trying to get you in and out, where they ignore your phone calls, or make you feel like a bad person because you're not wealthy-but the people here love animals and want to give people reasonably affordable options. I am in Flatbush so it's not the most convenient location for me, but the quality of care and character of the people is absolutely worth it. One week later, even though she is living life with one eye, this baby is eating, purring, and energetic. All thanks to these wonderful people! read more

This place does not deserve not even one star. I only had to put one star to post this review. This place is not friendly to pet owners with disabilities. The woman at the front desk told me the only way she would give me and my cat an appointment is for me to first get cat into her carrier, then call and book my ACCESS A RIDE, then call her for an appointment. I explained to her that ACCESS A RIDE rules are the passenger has to book the rides at least a day in advance. I told her if I put my cat in her carrier a day in advance, she would not be able for 24 hours or more to go to the bathroom, eat, or drink water. I told her this will be an extreme hardship for my cat and for me to do what she is asking. I asked her for an appointment for next Saturday. She refused to give me it and demanded I do it the way she is asking. This woman and this vet are discriminating against ACCESS A RIDE passengers people with disabilities and this vet does not accommodate such people with pets. Shame on you!!!! Disgusting!! read more

Dr. Balkaran clearly loves what he does and this love comes through in the compassionate care provided. We arrived without an appointment and were greeted warmly, immediately, by his staff. I couldn't help but notice how every pet who came through the door in the time we were there (and their concerned caregivers) were welcomed with such kindness- often by Dr. Balkaran himself, who would make his way to the lobby to give each pet a li'l love and check in with the caregiver about what brought them in. He has a wonderful way with pets, a calm, engaged bedside manner and was very thorough in sharing how to best care for our Boxer and support him in his recovery. We made our way from NJ and will continue to do so. Thankful for the dear friend who referred us to his practice and will certainly return- thankful to have found Richmond Hill Veterinary Care and that our pup has found the right Dr. to care for him. read more
