I woke up to a clogged toilet upstairs Tuesday morning. After trying everything I knew to do the backup was now going in the bath tub. Wednesday I tried again to no avail. I called Affordable Quality Plumbing at noon and Micah was at my house by 4 o'clock. After checking it out, he came downstairs and told me it was flushing and both were draining. It had cleared before he arrived. He said if it happened again I had two options and gave prices. He also gave me recommendations on my kitchen faucet sprayer. They did not charge a service fee. I called this plumbing company based on the reviews here on yelp for a problem I was having with my bathroom sinks. I discovered that the sinks both had water backing up that was extremely slow to drain. I also noticed that the sink had a leak coming from the PVC pipe underneath. I thought it may be due to a clogged AC line, which drains into the bathroom sink. When the young men came out, he looked at my problem, said it was, in fact, a clogged AC line. He walked outside to speak with his boss about a quote. He returned to quote me $785. I said no way. He went outside again and said his boss agreed to knock off $120. I still declined. They did not charge me a service call fee, which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. I gave both guys $20 each to at least buy their lunch as a thank you for coming out. I later went to Home Depot, purchased a $12 bottle of industrial strength drain cleaner and a $3 gasket (washer) for the pipe leak (saw this on you tube), and it worked. So I paid $15 for a job that they wanted to charge $785. Amazing!!!! Not sure if this quote was because I am a woman but ladies, be cautious before spending hundreds of dollars unnecessarily. I had to have a gas pressure test done on my home in order to sell it. I called late on a Thursday afternoon and spoke to Eve, who was very kind, polite and very professional. I was quoted a price for the test, which was considerably less than other companies in the area. I had a few questions and was transferred to Ken, who also was very polite and professional and explained the details of the testing. They went out the same day and I got a call early afternoon the next day and the test was completed and they were taking care of all the permits etc. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again with out hesitation. read more

Toilet leaked at bottom of the bowl. Bad gasket. Plumber talked the wife into an entirely new ballcock that it didn't need for over two hundred. Put in a $13 one and it sticks so it doesn't refill the bowl after a flush. I will go buy a good one and put it in myself. It's sad that it seems every industry feels they need to take advantage of Ladys. It's an easy job, so live and learn. read more

AQP replaced our 4 inch sewer line, here on Sagevalley St., from the front of the house all the way to the City Main Line in the back of our yard. They hand dug the line in Texas gumbo in one day and replaced the line and three cleanout spouts the second day. We felt the price was reasonable. All their employees seemed well qualified. I have used AQP for the better part of 10 years and satisfaction has bottomed out the last couple of times. First, I needed a large job done quickly but it took a week and a half just to get an estimate and by that time the job had already been done by another plumber. More recently, I needed a small job done and the price was much higher and my bill had no details (no hourly charge or parts itemized) to explain such a high fee. I called other plumbers to get an estimate for the job and both were considerably less expensive - one even lower by $100. I had a plumber at my house for less than an hour and my bill was over $200 with parts that I know are less than $10 at Home Depot. Never say never but it is quite likely I will not call them again. read more

I do not recommend Affordable Quality Plumbing due to high, unreasonable prices and poor customer service. I contacted four prominent plumbing companies in Pearland, TX to repair a broken water pipe in my front yard. I found these plumbing companies on Google and they each have prominent locations and buildings in Pearland, off FM518. Affordable Quality Plumbing quoted $3500 to do the same job the other three companies quoted for $1000. The AQP plumber was rude and arrogant. My neighbors warned me about this company when they saw their truck in front of my house. I hired a local self employed plumber from an ad in the newspaper and he did the same work as the others quoted for $350. I do not recommend doing business with AQP unless you have money to burn and enjoy dealing with rude plumbers. read more

We had a plumbing emergency during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at my parent's house. Their normal plumbing company wouldn't schedule them until Sunday. AQP was able to get us onto their schedule right away. The plumber assigned to us, Larry R, called us ahead of time of his arrival to make sure he got the right address. He arrived when he said he would. He helped us with our issue & gave us some tips to help us out in the future. I would highly recommend AQP. They are a no nonsense professional service company. Do not under any circumstances use this company. They are not affordable. They have no trip charge, however, when they get there the gentlemen informed me that their minimum repair charge is $189.00. In my case that was for just 10 - 15 minutes. They literally soldered one copper tube together. I have used other plumbing companies in the past and they were much cheaper. I used them this time since they were close by; what a mistake. Never, never again. Please don't use these people you will be sorry and your pockets will get cleaned out. Gerald and Scott originally came to my house to replace our old and broken water heater. Their quote was very competitive, and most likely the best quote in town! While they were here working, I had them look at our outside water main junction box in the front yard. I had just noticed it was submerged in water earlier that morning. Sure enough, we had a leak! They easily quoted yet another very competitive price for that repair. When both projects were all done, I was shocked at the overall quality of work, the knowledge of the technicians, their amazing professionalism, and the politeness of their personalities. The only reason I gave this plumbing service 3 stars is because the journeyman plumber was very nice and explained how to fix several things myself. My ex-husband works in construction and informed me ahead of time how much my plumbing needs should cost, and my overall impression of this company is that they charge way tooooo much. I needed a less than $5 part to fix a problem with a faucet outside, and the company wanted $178 to put an adapter and tape on the outside faucet. I didn't know that was the repair was until after the plumber did it. I was very upset when I saw that it was way too simple to cost soooo much. I asked about many things in my home. There were several small items that added up to be very, very overly priced and expensive - over $700. I ended up using the company to install a toilet ( and fix - put an adapter on the outside faucet), but they charged about double the price that should be reasonable. I only accepted the high price because I did not have a working toilet, and it was hard to function at my home without a working toilet. I don't know if the prices are because of I was working with a journeyman, and everything was an outright price no hourly charge. Again, the journeyman was very, very nice and explained how to fix most of the other things, so the overall price was worth it in the end because I paid too much for the service, but I also paid for advice and explanations on the other plumbing needs. All in all everything balanced out. read more
