My husband and I recently had our clay tile roof re-roofed with Affordable Roofing. Jose and his staff did a fantastic job, and were so nice. Always responsive to any calls or texts. The initial removal/demo crew were great and got everything ready in one day-extremely professional and clean work. The roofers cleaned up the area around the house every day before they left, and put in full days from about 7am to 4 or 5p. The roof was done in about 8 days, and we also had them install a new skylight. They really take pride in their work and we could not have been happier with the results. They even made a custom-colored color for the sealant. Their prices were also very fair and honest (and we had estimates from several companies). Last Thursday Affordable Roofing finished redoing our roof (Start to finish was 4 days). Last months storm brought 2 different leaks to our home so rather than just put a band-aid on and fix those areas we decided to redo the whole roof since it was 23 years old. The old way of putting the felt down on the plywood was called single ply where todays roofers now lay down two ply. This company also fixed a few of our rain gutters, installed a new down spout, installed drip edge in all gutters and horizontal areas with no gutters as well as added five O'Hagin vents on the back side of the roof for additional attic venting. We added the additional venting because we installed a whole house fan last year and when running it on high speed the 3 gable vents were not allowing the air to escape from the attic fast enough so it would draft through the light switches and electrical plugs upstairs. According to the manufacturer we needed to add more venting. I am sharing this information to those that have whole house fans and are planning on redoing your roof as it would be a perfect time to add some dormers. In all the years of using contractors we have had good and bad, just like most of us on here. But the one thing I wanted to share is that this company was by far the best contractor I have worked with. Jose Gonzales (Owner) did everything he said he would do, his employees were professional and cleaned up after every days work. We had received three bids before deciding who to use to perform the work. I normally do not choose the highest bid as I feel they are ripping you off, I also do not choose the lowest as I feel they will take short cuts. This time I broke my rule as roofer number 1 (referred by my realtor) was the most expensive by more than $4000.00. Then my neighbor across the street had his buddy come and provide an estimate and his was $2500.00 higher. Both these bids were not going to fix my rain gutters nor did they include the extra venting in the bid. I choose the lowest bid on this job because the personality of Jose outshined the other two contractors and the reviews found on Facebook's Chino Hills Connections page kind of said Jose is the guy. They removed ALL of my rain gutters and replaced all of my damaged facias. Some of the damage was hidden by my rain gutters. After repairing the facias, they reinstalled my sagging rain gutters and added supports to avoid sagging in the future. After adjusting the other two estimates for NOT removing my solar panels, I found the Affordable estimate to be nearly identical to the next closest bidder. However, since Affordable removed all of my gutters they found and repaired damage that may not have shown up until a few years later. This would have inevitably been more costly to repair later. As a bonus, they gave my rain gutters a "tune up" which would have been an additional expense elsewhere. read more

I had a partial reroof done. As you can see in the picture, it's hard to see where his work stops. He went above and beyond of my expectations. He did extra things without charging me. The Affordable Roofing Company replaced our roof in June (5 months ago). We were promised a $500 Kroger gift card as part of a promotion and never received it. We were given every excuse in the book as to why he hadn't gotten the gift card to us yet, and eventually he stopped responding to my phone calls and texts and will no longer answer when I call from my cell number. It was a pleasure doing business with Jose. Nice guy, fair prices, very through and professional. During the recent heavy rain I noticed what looked like a water stain on the ceiling. I found Jose on Yelp, and he came out same day to take a look. He inspected the inside of the house, and then went up on the roof and located where it was leaking. I appreciated that he took lots of photos to show where the roof was damaged. Jose also found some other issues with the roof and was able to show me. He explained what the issues were, how to fix them, and how to properly maintain the roof in the future. We set an appointment to make the repairs, and Jose took care of it on schedule. Jose came twice, and charged $1000 in 2019 and then $400 in 2020 but DID NOT FIX the leak in a bathroom. Now, 12/27/2021, I am having the same leak from the same area. First time, because of the leak, I called him per the recommendation of a FB community. He inspected and told me about replacing and repositioning roof tiles. After his team did my roof, I asked about the area that caused the leak and Jose told me that leak was fixed. He never gave me any receipt. Less than 1 year later, Jan 2020, I got a leak from the same spot. My husband called and made a complaint. But Jose asked for a proof/receipt and denied of not ever giving a receipt to customers. But he remembered me when he visited the house. He said that his first visit did not include fixing that area. I told him that the reason of my call with his 1st visit was because of the leak, and that I would not call him to randomly spend money if there was no leak. Jose charged $400, and we gave him a second chance. He himself worked on the roof. As he did with his 1st visit, he left without issuing a receipt. He didn't even tell us that he was done. My husband had to call and text him to ask for the receipt. It took several reminders and a week before he emailed the receipt. After his 2nd visit, the ceiling dry wall from the leak became bulged in the summer and we spent $300 to fix it. Now, 12/27/2021, I am having leak from the same area, and will need to re-fix the ceiling dry wall. I will not trust him again. He also told me not to let people go up there because they can step and break tiles. It makes me wonder now about him not giving receipts and telling me not to let people go up there. I will never use him anymore, and will not use any business that doesn't give paper trails. read more
