I was referred to Texas Affordable sheds while shoooping for storage sheds @ Home Depot in Lake Jackson after being quoted more than $6400 for a 12' x 14' wooden shed from a local building contractor. In July 2020 Texas Affordable sheds built me a 12' x 16' (modern shed) with 16' o.c. studs and with 8 foot high walls. for the price quoted. After a few additions such as a window and 2nd door, and tie downs for coastal areas, the final price was still under $3,000. I could not be happier with the shed, I could have paid a lot more to have it painted, electrical ran and more upgrades...but I just wanted a shed to store my zero turn mower and a couple of motorcycles. Paid almost $3700 for a shed that is improperly built/finished. Contacted "Michael" repeatedly by phone. Told us his crew would be here yesterday to fix the shed. NO CALL. NO SHOW. Didn't hear anything from him. He is dishonest The shed must be torn down and rebuilt. I'm a woman with no carpentry experience and I could have done a better job. He should be ashamed of accepting payment for such crappy work. How do you sleep with yourself at night? Read the "About" section on his website. I had a shed built yesterday... They guys were polite, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves.. I found some nails left behind but that happened when my fence was done to so not a big deal. There are a few boards im not sure are the best but it is supposed to be warrantied for 6 years so Im not to concerned.. I think my shed is good for the price I paid. I had a shed built by these guys almost 8 months ago and still fighting to get work completed to the remaining issues not addressed. Unfortunately, it looks like they will not be coming back to work on it (even after 3 other attempts). The owner, Michael, seems to hire parking lot workers or daily laborers at some of the DIY stores and pays them very little although he gets paid quite well for the buildings/sheds. I have even gotten to the point of asking him to just give me some money back and i will get the remaining items corrected myself. Again, he has said he would send me a check but that has been almost 2 months now and after numerous texts, no response. If there was a way to score a zero, I would but sadly, only a 1 is the lowest. I am not sure if they will ever send me my refund or repair the shed so I think the best idea is to explain my situation and hopefully it will save someone else from making the same mistake as I did. The company I had build my shed I found out goes by two names, Affordable Well Built Sheds and Texas Affordable Sheds. The owner, Michael, is running a scam where he quotes you a price, then does not deliver the materials/ products that he said he would and gets very confrontational diring the build. Four days after our shed was built, shingles are now coming off the roof I paid $500 to upgrade. The roof decking is also not properly nailed to the rafters. Not only will he not honor his "6 year warranty", he won't correct his poor installation one wewk later. Now he won't answer his phone. Stay away from all of Michael's companies. read more

I had a shed built last week and unfortunately my wife paid him before I could make sure that the shed was built properly with all of the agreed upon upgrades. I was not given a workbench, 2 vents, and they brought 3 tab shingles when his bid agreed to dimensional shingles with a ridge vent. I had to go to Home Depot and buy the correct roofing materials at my expense ($400) and they did not install the roof correctly. One week later, a thunderstorm came in today and blew the shingles off my roof that were not nailed to the decking. Now, the decking is coming up because they did not nail the decking to the rafters. John and Michael keep making promises to come out and fix the problem, but had stood me up 4 times now. All I can do now is warn others with a bad review, try to find them on the BBB, and see if I can put a lien on their business. Their website states they are insured and provide warranties, but don't count on them showing up. The crew they sent also admitted they have never worked for the owner before and had 0 experience building sheds after they had already erected the walls on my building.
