After deciding to replace our grass area in the backyard, I knew that we were going to go through the process of vetting contractors and having them come over to give us quotes and based on past experiences, it wasn't going to be pleasant. We did contact potential contractors. We had some call back, some didn't. The ones that did call back gave us quotes but never followed up after. After a few weeks of searching, we stumbled upon Affordable Tree Solutions via Yelp. Their name doesnt mention it but they also do masonry work, which is what we needed them for. We would not hesitate to reach out to them for landscaping work as well. I was very surprised when Jeff, the owner of the company, returned our call right away and was able to come out on the same day to take a look at the project and give us a quote. I appreciated this greatly as other companies told us they were going to come out but never did. I was very surprised when we received a quote via email on the same day and it was a very competitive one. After talking with Jeff more on the phone, we decided to go with Affordable Tree Solutions for our project. We received a timeline of the project, and dates that we could expect the project to progress and be completed. Now that the project has been completed I can say that I'm VERY VERY happy that we were able to find this company as they met all of the project deadlines, were very professional in all of their dealings, and more importantly, what separates them from the others is that they follow through with their promises - when they say they're gonna be here, they showed up. So, I reached out to them a while back was quoted $1100, to remove and stump grind two trees, great deal! I decided to actually only remove one tree, Jeff came out to take a look at the tree to confirm the quote. He then quoted me $650, to remove the tree including stump grinding. Still an awesome deal, I decided to schedule a date with them to do the job Dec 4th. Jeff called me the day of the job and told me they needed to reschedule because a few of their team members contracted COVID on Monday. (Really wish he or someone would have told me sooner than the day of the job so I wouldn't have to take time out of my day for them) . In their defense, they sent a less experienced crew out to look at the job to see if they were up to the task. They decided not to risk it. We then rescheduled for today, again no one has been in contact with me and today is the day we re-scheduled to do the work. I reached out to them and left them a VM this morning. I'll update this review if they actually come out and do the job. So far, giving 1 star for poor communication and they haven't actually done the job, just wasted my time. It shouldn't be the customer's responsibility to contact you to do your job. You should be reaching out to your customers to confirm availability and update them if you need to reschedule prior to the date of the job. Honestly, I don't really care about the lack of communication and I'm sympathetic for the COVID situation and understand. Will update this review if they reach back out to me and actually do the job. Extremely unprofessional and lack integrity. Once the owner and his wife get your money you never hear or see them again. The worst part is they say they are going to do something or did something, but you have to bug them for weeks only to be lied to about what they supposedly are going to do or did. Then the owner and his wife become belligerent and cop an attitude if you follow up with them or call them on their obvious lies. Paid them almost $11,000 for two jobs. Would never hire them again or recommend them to our friends or family. Additional comments: Pretty sure after the owner and his wife saw this review above the wife sent another unprofessional email saying they don't need our advice and there's fault on both ends. Absolutely untrue. What company comes to a concrete job without a hose, calls me at 7:30 am when they arrive to the job site requesting I immediately bring a hose to the job site for their crew to use, ruins the hose by putting a huge hole in it making it unusable but doesn't tell me, so then I mention it to the owner and he says he'll deliver a new one that day. 3 weeks later after numerous promises to deliver a new hose he doesn't, then he later says he ordered a hose from Home Depot for delivery to me but 9 days later still no hose. Then the owner gets angry because we ask numerous times over a month's time for a corrected receipt for his company's increased $200 charge for a small concrete addition to the walkway and the owner emails and says quit asking for the receipt and now he's cancelling the Home Depot hose order (which I'm sure he never ordered) because why should he give me a new hose when I supplied an old hose to his crew. He said he'd deliver an old hose which he never delivered. Then we asked for a date for the concrete to be sealed (after 30 days from the original pour) so I can meet his crew at the job site. The owner said someone would be there the next day and to let the tenant know which we did. No one ever calls or shows up so 1-1/2 weeks later we follow up and his wife said someone showed up but the tenant didn't answer the door so they left. Never did the owner say the tenant had to be home since we had informed her and the side gate was unlocked. We asked AGAIN to contact me to schedule the sealing of the concrete, didn't receive any response for 6-7 days so AGAIIN we email and ask for a date and then the wife responds that two crew members went 5 days earlier and sealed the concrete (despite us continually asking that I meet someone there) and she claimed that one of their crew members left a note on the tenant's door. We checked with the tenants and no note was left at the door, plus there was no evidence of the concrete being sealed. The tenant says she was there all day and no one was ever there. I went and took photos and a video of the same debris under the waste cans on the concrete for the past 1-1/2 weeks which was evidence they never came since the cans were never moved. We sent them an email with this information, photos and video and no response. Then we followed up AGAIN and received a belligerent response that they won't come out because they did seal the concrete and the wind must've blown the debris under the waste cans, and they normally charge $800 for sealing the concrete. That is laughable since the owner's wife previously emailed/texted us that the sealing would only take a couple minutes to do. We're talking about approximately 80 sq feet of concrete; a short walkway and waste can pad and the owner's wife says they could've charged us $800 when the owner originally said this was part of the original job price. This is who you're dealing with when you hire this company. They are highly unprofessional and lack integrity. God forbid should you ask for an amended receipt for the actual $ amount you paid them, a hose replacement when they ruin yours (I never requested a replacement the owner offered initially), or you ask to schedule a date/time to seal the concrete as they promised. We were completely reasonable and the owner and his wife turned this into a horrible experience. If you want this type of experience hire them. read more
